Irame, too, wasn't about to let Dante get attacked and she, after doging out of the way a bit she went back at the attaker again. She stabbed him as hard and deep as she could and yanked, pulling the short sword out through part of him.
Greg didn't let the distraction that Irame and Herei provided go to waste and reholstered his gun, somewhat, as he went at the man. In his opion it was a little to close now to be using firearms, and other people might get caught in the cross fire. The last thing that he wanted to do was hurt his colleages, freinds or family. That would never sit well with him, even if they were only nicked.
So he grabbed the mans arm and pulled it up while simultanusly pressing back with his other arm. Normally the manuver would pop the arm out of its socket and render it... well rather unhelpful...

"M'not dead." The words were mumbled as the woman fought for consciousness again. It was an awkward struggle, between one's mind to fall into the black oblivion and one's heart to stay with loved ones.
Alex cracked open her green eyes again, opening her left one with some difficulty since the blood had now run down her face like some obscene tribal face paint. Her throat worked, dry, as she managed a small smile that showed more in her partially opened eyes than her face. "Hey. Dun...worry 'bout me. He jes...had good aim. With trees." The woman snickered and immediately regretted it as pain drilled into the back of her head and laced up her spine; she knew her back would be a mess of bruises from that impact, and not just the light purple kind.
"I nn," she winced, being stubborn as usual and trying to sit up, at least against a tree. She cast a grateful smile to RuiZhi as the boy scrambled to help her, knowing better than to try and keep her still. Once she was situated, her eyes inevitably turned to the battle, one that she could not take part of in her condition. "I know how y' feel," she addressed Weiyuan without looking at him or speaking his name, "do what y' need, but dun...don't be foolhearty like yer sister." Her words were still slurred, but she meant well; she knew all too well what it was like to need to MOVE and DO SOMETHING and be restrained. Kind of like now.
"Farl'st...Elijah. Help...Zhi, please." If she couldn't be in the thick of things, it didn't make her useless yet. She could feel her conscious starting to slip, so she had to think fast. Green eyes moved to the unconcious man next to her, feeling a small bit of comfort that he was safe, even if he wasn't out of danger yet. "Lean hin...hmm...him on me, Zhi," she instructed quietly, "an'...check his stomach. He was...hit pr'ty hard. Make sure th...no swelling. Let Farl'st an' Elijah help band...bandage..."
RuiZhi moved carefully but without speed, knowing that he couldn't jostle the hurt doctor. With Alex's help, he placed the man in her arms, so that his back was neither against her nor on the ground and his front was also uncovered. To Elijah, he handed a small flashlight, asking softly, "Please hold this?" To Farlest, he handed a small jar and said, "If you see any small cuts, apply this. Just don't press too hard." He smiled encouragingly to both of the boys before parting Kenth's jacket and lifting his shirt, checking the man's abdomen for any unusual swelling that would indicate ruptured organs.
With one arm over his chest and holding his side, the other wrapped around his shoulders to cradle his head against her chest, Alex looked at Kenth's unconscious face. She was going to pass out again soon, and she cursed her lack of ability to fight it at the moment. The way he was held, she would not drop him, even if she did lose the battle again. In a ghost of her former humor, she sighed at the man, "Th' things I...have t' go through jes...just to get you in my arms."

"Not my...not...."
The world was blurring around the edges of her vision, her body exhausting. She was losing the battle between her fury and her exhaustion. Her gun slipped from her hands onto the ground. It had had a good battle; rest, good soldier, you've earned it.
She managed to somehow stagger over to her friend; then she fell to her knees, managing to catch her torso and lower her upper half to the ground. "...Alex," she panted, eyes blurring over in pain.
Dante managed to push himself away from the man as Herei and Greg dealt with him, scrambling to his feet, dagger still in hand as he grabbed a diamond this time. He went into the small clearing, the diamond catching the light and glittering.
Now. Now was the time, while this man was defenseless. Mana would not harm his allies. Now was the time for victory!
NOW!
"CYLIA VAE!"

Ka had managed to keep up fairly well in the run through the forest, but he was a bit slower than some - more of a distance person than a sprinter if anything. But soon enough, he burst into the clearing and froze for a moment, taking in everything going on.
He didn't have any weapons or anything ... and he knew better than to jump into the middle of people fighting with blades and guns when he had nothing to go against such things with.
It was then he caught Farlest looking around and made his choice, going to stand over the little group by the tree, eyes still following the fight. Fists clenched at his sides, and he crouched down a little - prepared to protect the others ... to not let anyone get to them...

Elijah blinked, astounded as Alex started to speak and noticing her consciousness he found a fluttering relief in his heart knowing she would be alright. 'Thank the Lord,' he thought inwardly, still feeling his heart pound roughly with the excitement and fright of the previous moments and the ones soon to come. Listening to what she had to say he nodded, acknowledging her request, not that he needed to be told to help them, and as soon as Kenth was against her and they were now putting their attention to helping him he grabbed the flashlight Rui had handed him and held it perfectly above the doctor helping RuiZhi to see any visible bruising and even the evidence of some internal rupture if one existed.
He was glad for Farlest's appearance as well and thankful he was there to help. They needed as much help as they could get. However, a voice echoed to their side and instantly he glanced up to see Lina staggering forward and as soon as she lowered herself to the ground the youth jumped to his feet and immediately went to her side, placing an arm below hers to hoist her into a far more comfortable position. He hadn't ment to drop the flashlight, but in his scramble it landed on the ground beside Farlest.
“Miss Lina! Are you alright?” he could tell she was exhausted, but was that her only ailment?

The man's blade had missed Dante just by a slight inch. He cursed under his breath and raised the weapon again, ready for another attempt to strike. Just as he leveled his arms, however, a sharp pain run through his side as Irame's sword stabbed into the man's abs. The stranger screamed in shock and pain, and he wasn't even able to turn and see who the attacker was before he was surprisingly unarmed, his arms twisted to his back in the most awkward way. The bones in his arms gritted together at the force from Greg, and the man's body instinctively jumped up at the searing pain. The man's bones were strong enough to hold, but he could feel his muscles tearing at the position.
"Damn it you pathetic piece of-----" The man struggled. For his strength and built, breaking free would only be a matter of time. Yet he was a step slower still...his eyes widened as Dante's magic, now even stronger than before, made its way to him. If that thing met its mark, the man wasn't sure if he was going to stand up again.
Impossible, how can it be over so easily?
Dante's magic collided with flesh, making a wide explosion. In midest of the flares the stranger was suprised to find himself not the target of the said magic. He looked up again, and...
A fragile looking girl stood in front of him, arms wide to each side. She looked skinny and weak. Her tanned body shivering from the impact that had just met her.
No...
She turned back briefly to look at the man. Her eyes, with golden glint, had something shiny in it. She had a smile on her face, but when the man reached out for her the smile faded, as her body collapsed to the ground with out a sound, without life.
No!!!!
"Lannin!!!" The stranger cried, reaching out to hold the girl in his hands. The girl laid there quitely as her skin started to become cooler even to the man's warm touches. The man stared at the girl's body in which life was fleeing out from her. His facial experssion was that of bewilderment, his eyes wet with tears and his mouth dry with soundless callings.
What is this...
"WHAT IS THIS???" Suddenly the man looked up at the group surrounding him, his eyes full of hatred. "Why, why couldn't I save her?? You...all of you...why were you all against us?? I only wanted her to live, ONLY WANTED MY DAUGHTER TO SURVIVE!!!"
Why was he and her the only ones who were left? Why did she become a beast, a killing machine? Why did they have to return to this place...to this damned place where he hoped that he could never return? Who was the one that have stirred Luna, that cruel Goddess...who was the one what made her lose her sanity and the finally giving it back at the last second of her life? Was it fate? Was it fate that she was meat to be sacrificed? Was it fate that these people had to be here?
Was he really that helpless against God?
"A woman's sacrifice was needed for Luna and her people to awaken...and she must have called her to this place." As if no one else was around, the man started muttering to himself. "She...was born with a defection. It's what you humans call a mentally challenged child. But different from that...she didn't have reason. She was no different than those animals living purely on instincts. She lived to survive...that was all."
"That was her only goal in life, to live...and she couldn't accomplish even that. I knew that from the beginning, but...but...what would a father feel if he knew his daughter had to die?? It's unfair...for me, and for her. She didn't do anything. The only thing she could not do was to please God. And for that reason she must die? Why...why???"
"I'm sorry." The man looked up at the group. His eyes breifly landed on Alex and Kenth. "That woman...gave me hope. It was an idea that I should have had. But for Lannin I had to try. If she was sacrificed instead of Lannin, then perhaps Lannin could still live, and maybe she could be cured once my people awake..." He sighed, and smiled bitterly. "But I suppose he had the same feeling that I had...to save her."
In a swift motion the man grabbed his long knife that had fallen beside him. Taking it and holding the girl up, the man walked to the front of the temple. "Even so, I could not bring myself to not hate all of you. So this is your gift." With the knife he cut down the girl's body, spilling her blood around the temple stones. Almost instantly the stone's color changed from a pale brown to bright purple, and the ground stated to shake violently.
"I can hear it! Luna's voice, the voice of my people..." The man's blade landed its final blow on its owner's throat, and the man fell slowly, his eyes still staring at the group with a crazed excitement as if he had just won a battle.
"Good bye, my friends..."
===============================================================
Elsewhere...in inner part of China, about two miles away from where the group was, the native Chinese village suddenly collapsed with wild, blood-thirsty cries. In midest of the destruction and flames, a short man could be seen with a kitchen knife at his hands. His skin was tanned, and his eyes glowed with a golden glint.
And on the both side of his head, two pointy ears twiched, smelling at its preys.

Part the First: Lina's Story
Did I do the right thing?
Her hand lay gently on her abdomen as the chopper lifted into the air, carrying her and the others out of the area. It looked so innocent from up here, so peaceful...her lip curled.
Did I do the right thing? In coming here?
She had put herself--and her unborn child--in danger. While the cramps within her stomach were calming down, there was still a little throb of pain--and the feeling that something was...different. Not bad. Not good. Different.
She had come here to finish what she had left undone. Was she leaving now with her child intact?
With a sigh she looked over her left shoulder, at her companions sleeping. Her companions....
She had deceived Alex--and all the others--by hiding her pregnancy. She had put herself in danger...and her unborn child as well. She had caused Irame to worry--and several of the others. She had been careless with hiding her condition.
She was not like Alex, so brave and brutally honest, point-blank and calculating. They both did rush into things--Lina gave a chuckle at that--but in the end she felt that she...hadn't thought things through.
She'd played her part in the final battle--miniscule as it had been. She didn't remember much after she'd passed out next to Alex, after she'd fired the last of her bullets into the body of the other man. Just the blinding fury...and the fierce love she'd felt for the child she'd know in eight months.
That man was a parent too, and you saw that in his eyes. That was the one part you remembered, Lina, the despair when his daughter died.
He had tried to kill Alex...and for that he had her ire. But now...as a parent herself...she could not hate him for the sorrow she had seen. For wanting to do anything--go to hell, even--to make sure that his child was all right. For all her deformities...he had loved her.
And I will honor that death by watching over you, little one. The hand on her stomach pressed deeper. No matter what you are like...or what you may become.
The blades of the chopper drew ever closer to the copper-colored sunrise. She kept her eyes on that. Not on the past, or whether her actions were right.
Keep your eyes on the light.

Herei's Goodbye
He was leaving his homeland, but he felt no remorse.
Herei had said nothing as the man fell, knowing only that Shinji would likely want to know that another race had awakened, and that Luna was very well laughing hysterically at how well these pawns played into Her hands. As he lead the group quickly from the forest, the wounded and unconscious being carried, he could not help but feel that everyone had to be here - everyone that had come had served a purpose, and played their role. In the end, She still won.
He was not without his joy; everyone here had survived. As the choppers started to carry away the group in small chunks, he could not help but thank whoever was watching over them that no one had died. Even the injuries hadn't been serious, with Kenth's being the worst; the doctor would heal in full, perhaps without any scars if he would accept the medical remedies that those versed in herbs could offer, or the magical aspect. Of course, Kenth accepting help never turned out well, and look where it landed that crazy woman that Weiyuan called a sister.
The mission, as it were, was a complete success, and a total failure. They had done what they had come to do, but at what price? What terrible price would the world pay for this isolated incident? That was something he would have to speak with the Headmaster about. The wheels of war and peace were turning, and they couldn't afford to be stuck in the middle.

RuiZhi's Lesson
The boy was also leaving his homeland, but it was not his home. No, home was in the smiles of those he loved, and they were all going back to the school...alive, and without permanent damage. If he wasn't in such shock at all that had just transpired, he would have cried with joy.
Being one of the medical students, he was able to fly with his sister and his idol, making sure they were cared for and weren't jostled on the ride too much. He watched over the two diligently, his face peaceful as he gazed upon their still forms and reflected on all that had happened. The days were mere fragments of memories to him, from landing to taking off, flashing in still-frame motion in his mind. He knew something large and important had happened, but he couldn't truly grasp it; it was still so very fresh and raw, it would take some time for his mind to digest everything that had happened, and make sense of it.
RuiZhi looked at his sister, a small frown forming. She had tried to keep that man's daughter from hurting Kenth...and look where it got both of them. He couldn't, in his heart of hearts, feel bad for the man and his loss. For all the deaths, all the suffering his homeland had endured, he could not feel the least bit of sadness that the demonic child and her father died in the fray. Karma, they say, has a way of biting people in the butt. All those deaths...so senseless...
He gave a sharp shake of his head and looked out the window to the retreating spot of land that he once called home. There was no time for regrets or could-bes, no time for what-ifs or second guesses. He had a duty to fulfill, to himself and his loved ones. RuiZhi knew he would continue his hard work as soon as they returned to the school, if not only so this horrible event would not repeat itself.

The Clutches Known As Alexis
Everything was broken in her mind, but it didn't matter too much...it felt much like her body, even though she knew there was a good chance nothing was actually damaged. Bruised, sure, but nothing that would keep her bed bound.
Her right eye opened minutely, her left eye completely shut by dried blood that also caked her hair to the back of her head, barely able to make out the form of the pale-haired doctor next to her. She wasn't sure where she was or what had happened, but judging by the sound of things, they had won and were leaving. Of course, she had no idea where they were taking her, but she didn't care so long as Lina, Kenth and Ka'hmesh were cared for.
She had accomplished her goal; she had kept her brothers safe, and had, for the most part, done the same for Lina and Kenth, Farlest, Elijah...the others...
Her mind reeled, and she knew she would not be conscious long. Damn, but she hated concussions, more trouble than they were worth! She had missed the speech given by the demonic man, having passed out after jerking forward towards Lina, remembering only that Kenth was in her arms and RuiZhi had been yelling something at her. Damn stubborn man...and that boy would end up just like him, she'd bet on it.
A bloody hand snaked towards Kenth, shaking from the blood loss, the pain and the lack of food and sleep. She didn't notice when gentle hands helped her get closer to the doctor, or when the boy who had been between them stepped back. Her mind started to fall into itself again as she gently took the doctor's hand in her own, knowing that when she came to, her hand would likely be broken or maimed or show some sign of his displeasure at her constantly trying to be near.
It made her smile.
"Ev'ryone...is safe?" she asked no one in particular.
There was a soft 'yes' in reply.
"He's..."
"He'll be fine."
"Lina? Ka...?"
"We're going home. They'll all be fine."
"Good." Her head lolled against the doctor's shoulder, her hand relaxed in his, and Alex bid farewell to reality for the next three days.

(I’m off to collage tomorrow so I might be a little sporadic for a few days.) Decisive blind spot: Greg
There were problems to come. That much Greg knew, but that wasn’t really something that concerned him right now. The problem with Dante could take back seat to everything that was happening now. After seeing what happened to his brother Dante really didn’t seem like something that should be his main worry right now, and it wasn’t.
He made sure to Alex and Kenth while they were all waiting.
Everyone was safe, and that was what was important. The students were fine, Kenth and Alex were hurt but going to be okay, the other teachers were alright, and he was okay himself, so really he didn’t have anything to worry about. Even if there were a bunch of Demons running about. After all they were supposed to get the other races out, right? Or at least the goddesses or something like that.
Well it didn’t matter. After all, it wasn’t him that had to write the report, he hoped, and he’d probably be busy taking care of Kenth and Alex. Or he hoped Alex, as he hoped that they wouldn’t just throw her out like she was.
Well no matter, he’d make sure that both of them were okay. So over all… Everything was going to be just fine.

Sanity Questioned: Irame
She had offered to heal both Alex and Kenth. Alex had politely refused her help, and Irame had thought it strange, but had accepted that she wanted no help. She would have asked Kenth but he didn’t seem as if he was quite conscious all the way.
She didn’t press it, and simply watched as the others moved about around her. She was happy that they were all alright. About that she was very happy, that was the entire reason that she had come to China. To try to make sure that people would be okay. (Granted Kenth and Alex had been hurt rather badly but they would heal) The group seemed to have been able to accomplish that, but…
She was still a bit off from the Demonic energy that she had been subjected to. The blast that had come from the release of the demons, and even just from the two people the group had fought… She normally had a rather large resistance to energy like that, but her resistance had been worn down, and now she was even more aware of the presence than a normal Elf. She had felt it when they were let out, and it had scared her. She shook her head and took a deep breath. She would just have to watch herself more carefully than normal. That and perhaps talk to Dante again.
Well right now she figured that everything seemed alright. The students were alright and going back to the school to continue to learn, the teachers were all alright, well mainly, and they were all going to be home soon… So yes everything seem alright to her then. She simply hoped that everything continued to be alright.

Morning Self-Report: Dante
He honestly didn't remember much after he'd cast that second spell. Even now, the rest of what had happened had turned fuzzy to him after the seal had been broken.
He'd remembered someone grabbing his arm, dragging him away, shouting at him to not give up, stay with them goddammit you b*****d, don't die!...and now the warmth of blankets.
Dante's blue eyes cracked open, still impossibly heavy from the exhaustion he felt. Immediately things started lining up in his head--his sister (he'd have to keep an eye on her); Greg (the idiot had better not have died, he still had business with the b*****d); the students (were they okay? He hoped they were. He had faith); the other brave individuals.
So much...so much to do....
He tried to push himself up...and, like the gentle hand of a mother, it seemed that Mana simply pushed him down and cooed soft words to him. He still needed rest; his mana was depleted, and he wouldn't be able to function normally until he was back in practice.
He closed his eyes, and knew no more. The last thing he remembered was two people, a man and a woman, silhouetted against the bright orange of the morning; if he'd cared to think of it in the last few waning twinkles of lucidity he had before darkness claimed him, he'dve known they were his two most precious people.

Elijah's Cogitation
Though the youth was exiting one adventure he thoroughly believed he was beginning another. The past few days had no doubt been intense, however the longer he had to think about each instance the more he questioned the impact every person had on this amazing journey.
Along the way he had come to know friends, make interesting acquaintances, understand family ties among the travelers, and analyze the bonds that were forged. No doubt he wanted to carry the emotions he formed with him back to the school and there only hoped for continuing the friendships he made.
They all lived, though battered some where, and that alone gave the youth a sense of accomplishment. Had they achieved the goal they had set he was not sure and after their fiasco previously he didn’t know the impact of what was to come. From the beginning of their journey he had questioned why he had traveled along and despite not having the answer now he didn’t once regret his choice. If he had somehow accomplished helping the people of China through some minor exertion of his own then he was happy. And certainly he didn’t regret the experiences he had with the people he traveled with.
His only reason for going was to help those who needed it.
Maybe one day he would see the result of their efforts on a wider scale. Maybe one day he would once again revisit the land and this time around know how to act upon the problem instead of following the example of others. And maybe one day he would have a broader understanding of the world around him and everything within it.
Whatever was to come, he was proud of what had been.
