"Not so much merrier as more useful, I think." They were retired against the walls of the dim cabin and though he listened acutely to Shyrae, his eyes stayed steady on the other two and followed their conversation. "I would like to see where this ends up but if you prefer to leave, you're more than welcome to do so." And giving her a look that also enforced that welcome if she should choose to stay. "How did your first night on the ship fare?"

"That could be interesting. Magic is intriguing though not even I know how I live." But the Seon navigated towards her hand and then drifted lower to more or less sit in her palm, its glow dimmer just a notch. "Ever wondered what would happen if you try to make him something he's not though?" Xeke was comic relief at times yes, but he was also the pessimist of the trio. "Never, neither of them speak of it. At least not in front of me... I suspect the guilt is what made him change into the character he is now. He wanted to save her but in the end, barely got away with his life and those runic scars."

Kronos cocked an eyebrow, he did always like em feisty. He smiled at her, "My apologies, Lady Silverfeather." he said with a slight smirk in his voice, as he heard her speak about her experience in the port. He nodded his head in agreement at her comments. "Tis a very true thing, same thing happens living in the desert, you have to know how to interact with the different tribes that litter the place in order to survive peacefully." he commented.

"So exactly how many more people did you come back with?" he asked.

"Well if you want to take a look at it..." Pausing for a moment Caden stared at the spyglass then held it out to him. "Here take a look." He said before he sighed at the captain next choice of words. "I never traded with another pirate before so I didn't know how things go about, it was a mistake of course and if I ever go into another pirate port again I wouldn't answer with another lie." Hell that was true, being backhanded and threatened to be stabbed was enough for him to learn his lesson, though from now on he probably would stay on the boat.

Well well, the little buggers were indeed just like the old texts spoke of them. There was something humbling yet amusing about that at the same time. But walking closer to the desk she studied the map a moment and hte charted course that had been done on it. A look to Hunter. "You want to go through the sand bogs? I mean sure it's shorter, but it's certinally not the easiest place to get through. Looking to sink your ship for the sake of time?"

The aformentioned place was of course and area in the sandseas where the sand was constntly shifting and the land was pocketed, sink holes littering around and quicksand effects took place. Land was a tad cavernous underneath as well and it was not uncommon for the ceilings of such places to fall. Variable sand whirl pool sometimes. A look back to the Laerethe. "The path he has saves time, but it's a hard to navigate for any ship."

"Lady Silverfeather was my mother before she married. It's Silverfeather D'vinn for me." She had no qualms about correcting. It was respect and well, it was one of those things her parents really drilled in. Moreso her father. Idly she picked at a indigo dyed piece of hair, the beads having caught to the rest of her silvery white hair in irritating fashion. "I didn't come back with anyone knew. Though as I'm hearing it, we're gaining a ship."

A blink at it. "I never said I was trying to change him. I know it seems like I try to when I tell him not to be Commander...but he was Kaznec before he was Commander Kaznec. I'm just asking him to set down the duty for a bit and remember what it is to be himself. Yes...that may be wrong of me I suppose." Listening to the ball of light...she knew a little bit of the surrounding circumstances...like Lycear's broken horn was because of that same thing. She hadn't meant to eavesdrop, it had just happened. "I suppose it's harder to loose a parent when you've known them for a while rather than to not know them at all."

Sad subjects indeed, but sometimes they needed to be brought up. "Hey Xeke...does he ever talk about me to you? Or do you ever hear anything about me?" Hey, maybe he'd be able to tell her if she was indeed an obligation or not. She obdessed over the fear of it, and it probably wasn't healthy. Being anyone's obligation was not an activity she enjoyed being subjected to and had already been so many times. Bell didn't want Kaz on that list.

Again Kronos could not help but smile at the way she so bluntly corrected him, she reminded him of another of worlder, if in attitude alone. "My apologies Lady Silverfeather D'vinn. Please forgive my ignorance." he said with a slight bow, Kronos had been taught one or two things about politeness, though being a desert rat, not all of it had stuck. He cocked an eyebrow at her comment. "Another ship, as in a pirate ship?" he said rubbing at his temples in frustration. "What great folly we have undertaken to make our beds with pirates." he said with a slight growl of his voice.

Though Kronos had been in a argument with the captain, it was because he avoided him at all costs, not because he was starting to like the guy, and now he had to deal with another ship full of the vermin. This journey was going to be an exercise in patience if nothing else, he thought to himself.

Taking a look at the spyglass, and opening it up...hmm.

"It's a good peice of work."

handing it back over.

"You played a dangerous game. but you came out with what you wanted. however, if you want to claim things again, you need to change your clothes. a guard's uniform always makes you a liar when you talk about pirating."

before turning his attention back toward his cabin.

"If you'll excuse me."

and back in he went, noting all those present.

"We've been through the bogs before. special modifications to the Chimera let us navigate her through there fairly easily...not without risks, but they aren't overly dangerous."

A look to the little lady.

"You hired a pirate ship. I go where the sands take me and the easiest way to the richest spoils. Not to mention here.."

pointing to a spot in teh far edge of the bog.

"Is an old ruin, mostly collapsed underground. the temple we're going to may work as a nice first stop, but this can be used as a training exercise if needed. the last thing I need is for you people to go shard hunting and for only one or two of you to come back because you have no idea how to work together like a proper crew."

then a smirk over to Gem.

"Just because she's afraid of a little sandstorm here and there doesn't mean I am."

"Well thanks Hunter." This was the first time he noticed that the captian didn't say anything rude to him at all, well that made living on this ship a bit more bareable. Though still he gave a small nod to the man and before he left he managed to say. "Well I got some cloths so if I change I'll look different so don't worry." And that was that. So with nothing else in mind he extened his spyglass and took a look through it, and after staring through it for a few minutes he knew this was a good buy, rip off or no rip off.

Eilynne glanced down at the map and then nodded. "Thank you for your opinion, Captain Nereem. I appreciate the input." A glance to Hunter and she shook her head. "No. I will not put those on this ship in danger if I do not have to merely to save time and indulge your greed. We can visit the temple ruins you have picked out without going through them as this map here demonstrates." A glance to Hunter. "Order your crew to avoid the bogs regardless. You might wish for more of an adventure but I feel differently and I do not trust any modifications, no matter how reliable they've proven in the past."

She did quirk an eyebrow at him and took a moment to scan him up and down, though her voice did not raise in the slightest. "Captain Deacon, what gives you the impression that my abilities in picking a crew lack in any way? Do you really believe that those I have chosen are inferior to the ways of teamwork and group outings? Do you actually believe that I would choose those who would be no assets to your own crew and have no idea of what was truly going on?"

Shyrae nodded and chose to stay down below, especially since she could talk to Kaz and also find out what was going on with their voyage. "Not that different from sleeping at home, really. I'm used to noise and movement at all hours of the night and there's usually someone coming into my room at some point to check on me and make sure everything is alright. A hammock instead of a bed was a change but my friend kept me safe with one of her own animals. Yours?" Though one eyebrow raised as anyone could see that Eilynne was not pleased.

"I'm glad to hear that this quest has not displeased you, though I wouldn't say the same for your friend. Regrettably." Observant as he was, he'd noticed Savryn's attitudes since stepping foot onto the Chimera. "My first experience sleeping upright. Interesting really..." But as voices strained in the cabin, his attention focused more fully on the three in conference. Taking a step forward, he spoke assertively. "May I remind you, Captain, that we did not come aboard to be trained or to be taught what you think is proper. We have already gone a fair decade without the Orb. Biding a few days' time will not make a severe difference and even if it did, I would rather not risk lives of my team or your crew for it."

"Commander is just a title, it doesn't really make him what he is. The boy lacks... passion." Flaring a moment in her palm, perhaps in agreement, until it settled again. "I just don't think you should be surprised if this all blows up in your face." One day Kaz would crack. The good way or the bad way, but one of them for sure. "It probably is. You can stay optimistic about the unknown but he lives with his memories..." At her question though, his light glowed more brightly. "He does sometimes, but that's a curious question. What exactly do you want to know, Bell?" Though lacking in certain emotions himself, the Seon was not ignorant to the ones shown by those around him.

"Forgivness is a moment in time and often overrated." In her opinion, it was seeking for a diamon in a pile of coal. Highly unlikely to find easily, in abundance, or in suitable amounts of time. Though she side glanced his general direction and raised an eyebrow. "You speak of forgiveness then speak insult once more by saying those that consort with pirates are less than capable in good decision making skills. The bias of humans always brings a smile of forbodding outcomes to my lips." Hating the pirates yet being around them. Why did humans subject themselves to such things if they were clearly unhappy being there? "You also let your negatives rule you...no wonder you all don't live long. You mentally wear yourselves down with such thoughts and grudges."

Gem rolled her eyes. "Unless your ship can fly and I don't mean dune glide, I mean fly fly, then it's not modified nearly enough to expect me to follow you in there. We've all been in there at least once and it's most uninviting for any ship. Though a raise of an eyebrow. "Aw, you care how sweet." Of course laced with sarcasm but then again most of what she said was. But quickly she sported a frown. "Afraid of a sandstorm? I chase sandstorms. But I'm not going to follow you into pits, quicks, and sinks and loose my ship just because you want to meet Jones personally and shake his hand." A side glance to the little being at the desk. Well, she was forward...were Laerethe like that allthe time?

"He has passion, sometimes you can see it in his eyes...but it's always brief." Shaking her head lightly about the warning again. "Don't worry about how I'll take it if as you say things blow up in my face. It's happened before, I'll recover like I always had." Adaptation was a wonderful things sometimes, especially when you were passed around in younger years. "Memories..." Fleeting things for most creatures, but some stuck, usually the painful ones.

A look to the light as it got more direct with her about her own questioning. "I'm an obligation to a lot of people, and I know that. I'm kept around because I'm got at the things I do and the talents I have. Not necessarily because I'm graceful or likeable or such," pausing a moment to shrug lightly, the tone of her voice as neutral as ever as if she was speaking of somone else even and it wasn't personal. "I hate to think that Kaz sees me as one to him as well. And don't lie to me, I mean even if he's had the vaguest notion of such a thing...or I'll put you in a jar and shake you around."

Kronos rubbed gently at his chin, "Yes, we are strange bunch we humans, and I count myself among those foolish enough to board with pirates. And it's not that I hate them, like you said, we humans live so short lives that it is rather difficult for us to forget past grievances. I have my trust to a pirate once, and in ended dearly for those around me, while I was left to survive. So no, I do not hate these pirates, merely understand that a pirate given the chance will choose there loot above all else, even those they claim to care for." he spoke. "Strange creatures we humans be, we live short lives and often walk ourselves headfirst towards out own deaths. You must admit it's at least fun to watch us while we dance out short reprieve upon the stage." he said as he leaned further against the railing of the ship

"Oh for the Love of the Locker! I swear by the sands all of you don't have any heart for this, except maybe Gem here."

driving a dagger into his maps. first glance to the dragon-kin.

"For someone who doesn't live at all, you have gall to infer how I do live. my crew have gone through the bogs many, many times. it's nothing new to us. and yes, little lady, I do object to certain choices made and how they will blend as a crew and group. you got one that hates the pirates he's working with, one that hates everybody, one that has no passion for anything but logic and the safety of a single city, one that is while useful and creative, also prone to clumsy misstep. the other elf has no experience in anything of this nature, and the last human in your group is so devoted to the Commander here that if he said to slit his own throat he'd do it without question."

then his eyes fell squarely on the little lady.

"And you...you know far more than your willing to let us know about, which instantly breeds mistrust. you seem to know the outcome beforehand, and when someone gets hurt, and it is bound to happen, your choices will get called into question. if not directly, but through self doubt. thoughts of why was I picked if she knew I was going to get this badly injured. and yes, you do give off that air of knowing the fates of your choices well in advance."

"Petty reamarks will not change my mind, Deacon. We are not going through the bogs." Her stars seemed to glow for a momen and she reached out and yanked the dagger out of the maps. Studying it a moment, she flipped it in her hand and then quirked a brow at Hunter. "If I were to throw this at you, I would have the same idea of the outcome as everyone else in the room. Fates are determined by a multitude of things, Captain Deacon. Do not presume to know enough to change or rearrange yours and I will not either. I am not a god but I am powerful."

She glanced around the room for a moment and then strolled over to Shyrae and rested a hand on her arm. "Power comes in many forms. So does experience. I know things you do not and I know the potential of each of those I have chosen. A few came along with my original choice. What occurs on this voyage can not be known by anyone." Another pause. "Though perhaps I made a mistake in choosing you, Captain Deacon. Captain Nereem seems to have been a wiser choice."

"Sitting up? Did you fall asleep over plans and such? My father does that sometimes. It irritates my mother." Knowing exactly why Kaz had taken the opinion about Savvy that he had, Shyrae laughed for a moment. "She's quite a character when it comes right down to it. It's almost impossible to know her real feelings." Another shake of her head but then she quieted as Kaznec stepped forward to add his own response. Though she turned and glanced at the being and the others in the room, not really sure if she was supposed to say something or not.

Thobias moved quietly to be standing behind Gem, ready to yank her out of the way just in case anything happened. She was his first priority regardless and his hand very slowly moved to cover his pistol. He was taking no chances and he knew how impulsive and rash Deacon could be.

Oh that got a narrowing of eyes.

"Potential doesn't mean a damn thing out here. there's a lot of people that are long dead who had wonderful 'potential'. and that's exactly what I'm refering to. comments like that. 'I know the potential of each person I chose'. so what are you going to say if...for example, Bell gets her leg ripped off? tell her that her 'potential' for this journey was that she'd be easily injured and crippled for life?"

"They have absolutely no experience working together except the dragon-kin and the human member of the guard. and even then, that experience is having the commander here give them orders to follow. which means if the commander is out of hearing range, or unable to give orders, thier lost. the bogs is my test. my personal evaluation of thier abilities. I expect storms and such. it's a prime ground for them. and I'll expect things to happen that will need proper responses that require team efforts and not always having someone tell you it needs done, but knowing it needs done and doing it. The Commander here might get that...but the rest of this bunch you've picked seems more prone to stand and do nothing to help each other unless given explict orders to do so, orders which, once again, I'm not allowed to give because heaven forbid your authority over your team be questioned on my ship."

"That human Guard could have been killed today with a flick of the wrist, and standing not ten feet from him was our necromancer and this girl here. not one of them even so much as raised thier voices to the person doing the threatening. and I'm supposed to let you go into a labyrinth and just assume that you'll magically fuse together into a fully working team ten seconds after you pass the doorway? oh and assume if half of you die that my pay won't get docked nor will I be accused of sending you to your deaths on a whim by Lycear? I think not."

Eilynne seemed pretty adamant about avoiding the path chosen by Captain Deacon... Kaz moved his eyes from the dagger in the maps to the captain's face, gazing at him for a moment. "I sense hypocrisy, Captain. While some of your observations carry an ounce of truth, you presume much. The Lady has the final say on this quest and she is right. You are merely the transportation and you should know that should the situation call for it, you can and will be substituted." Stiffening at the captain's choice of example though, he fell quiet. A verbal tug of war was not going to get them anywhere. He glanced over to the other captain, wondering how she was going to take this, but he kept his attention focused on Deacon.

"There's only so much a person can take. And I'm saying that in regards to both you and him... Memory's a knife." The Seon had his odd times of deep ambiguous insight, though they did fade quickly. No one ever knew its train of thought and no one would ever try to find out. "I can't believe you would threaten me like that... You know I'm claustrophobic." Pulsing uncomfortably a few times before settling down again, seeming to think. "Kaz doesn't think you're graceful, or likeable, or even extremely useful. You know, the way you say it, it's almost like you expect him to think of you as an obligation..." Insightful again, blue light dimming slightly.
