"I don't see this as a failed mission. We went on a mission that couldn't be completed. Our target was already dead and we got ambushed. Sounds pretty setup to me." Kiro started. "Makes me feel like its all related the what happened the previous night at the Corps when I was targeted."

"Now you just sound paranoid." Will said to Kiro. "There's no way this is connecte-"
Will cut off in mid-sentence. He listened hard, he could have sworn he had heard something odd just a moment ago. There is was. A flapping sound, air rushing, it sounded big.
"Listen." Will whispered. "Something's out there."
Will's hand drifted to the hilt of his sword. Almost at the same instant he touched his hand to the swords handle there was an ear-shattering shriek. The force of it blew the trees about like a strong wind. Will was on his feet in an instant, a sword appearing in each hand.
There was the sound of flapping again and a great winged creature flew over their camp. It's body was a dark brownish-black color, and quite narrow. It had enormous leathery wings extending from it's upper torso, where forelimbs would be on most creatures. It had small legs, though they were adorned with wickedly curved claws. It's tail was long and barbed. It's head was rodent-like, though with a blunted snout. Huge ears swiveled about as it flew over. It opened it's mouth and revealed rows of needle teeth.
"Holy s**t." Will muttered as he saw the creature soar overhead.
As he spoke the fiends ears oriented on him, and then the beast's head turned in his direction as well. It was then that Will noticed that the thing had no eyes. Not that it was missing it's eyes, but that there was smooth flesh over it's entire face, and no eye's or sockets, to speak of.

Kiro stood up, he heard the noise too. Kiro glared at the large bird that had appeared. "Just one enormous fiend after another." Kiro muttered and the made a break for the treeline for cover. "William! There's no way we can beat it unless we can get it to land!" Kiro called out to him.

And on top of that it has no visual sensory which leaves my power useless. Kiro thought in irritation.

"Either that, or we'll have to go to it." William called as he burst into a full sprint, following after the fiend as it's path took it out over the treeline. Will was still filled with rage at allowing the spider-fiend to escape. He was determined not to do so again.
William ran into the densely packed trees of the forest and leapt for the nearest low hanging branch. He quickly swung himself up and leapt from branch to branch as quickly as he could. He soon made his way to the topmost branches, from where he could see the fiend, which seemed bat-like to him, soaring back in their direction.
Will stepped back along the branch he was currently atop, though not far, as it was a smaller, weaker branch up at the top, and timed it for the fiends approach. When it was sufficiently near Will sprinted the length of the branch and leapt out into the air. As high and far as he could manage, especially with so little a running start.
His timing proved true and he flew through the air towards the beast. His swords came to his sides and he swung out at the fiend as he passed it in the air. Much to William's disappointment the fiend twisted in midair and brought one of its wickedly sharp talons into the path of his blades, deflecting them.
"Dammit." William mumbled with a scowl as he descended back into the branches, where he was forced to twist and turn to avoid a collision before he was finally able to land atop one again.

Kiro use his agile ability to run up several feet on a tree with great forward momentum then to grab onto a low branch and pulled himself up. Kiro quickly made his way up higher to get a better view as William distracted the fiend with his first attempted assault.

Kiro drew one of his katanas and gripped it tightly in his right hand, aiming at the flying beast carefully. Kiro brought his arm back and then lunged his blade forward and released it from his grip as he sent it hurling toward the flying fiend toward the area Kiro had suspected contained what its brain would be.

As Kiro's katana spun through the air towards the beast the monster's ears suddenly swiveled forwards towards the sound of the hurtling blade. The fiend dipped one wing in an effort to dodge the projectile but it was not quick enough to avoid the sword altogether. The katana caught it high on one shoulder, slicing through fur and flesh and sending a spattering of crimson blood cascading down into the treetops before the sword itself flew past and fell down into the trees also.
William sheathed both of his blades and began to ascend through the treetops again. He quickly made his way to the top of the tree cover and stood staring at the fiend. He spread his arms out wide to his sides.
"Hey, you bat-fiend freak!" Will called out. As soon as he did the monsters ears swiveled towards him and the fiend reoriented it's flight to come at him as well. "I'm right here, come and get me!"
William stood his ground, arms spread wide. Waiting, as the fiend bore down on him.

"Teh." Kiro spat as hit blade was partially dodged by the fiend. Kiro landed on his feet when he jumped down from his perch and swiftly dashed over to aid William as the fiend charged on him. Kiro grew nearer very quickly and so he drew his other katana and readied it in hand as it flailed behind him.

How about from underneath? Kiro provoked the fiend within his thoughts as he was now almost directly under William. Kiro swung his arm back, this was his last shot or he would have to find his other sword soon.

((Not sure if you actually threw yet or not, but I know you were going to, so I'm gonna go with it.))

Come on. Come on...
William watched as the fiend bore down at him. As it neared he snapped both of his arms down to the side, letting one of his throwing daggers fall out of each sleeve and into his hands. Will drew his arms out to the side, preparing to throw-
- When suddenly a second katana flew through the air, straight up in front of him, and plunged itself into the beasts body. The blade hit the fiend at center mass, only slightly off to one side, a gut shot, and stuck fast.
The fiend threw it's wings forwards, killing it's momentum, and let out a screech of pain. It flapped madly for a moment and then let out a second screech. The second screech was not a screech of pain, but of rage. And it was accompanied by a shockwave like blast that ripped across the treetops towards William.
Oh, shi-
William was caught up in the wake of the shockwave and and thrown across the canopy. He had managed to throw his arms across his chest to protect himself from the blast at the last second. Will tumbled down through the branches and the leaves. Suddenly there was a tree in his path. He struck it hard as he flew. He struck out with both hands, burying his daggers into the trunk, using them as handholds to fix himself in place so he could reorient.

Kiro winced as the fiend screeched, clutching his fists and guarding his face from the shockwave it created. "b*****d should just die." Kiro muttered as he glared up at the beast.

I don't know if I hit an organ important enough to maintain its life, but I'm sure it should slow it down some with the loss of bodily fluids leaving its bottom now.

((Apologies if I kinda steal the show here, Adam.))

So, that's how we're gonna play.
William braced himself against the tree and kicked off of it, leaping out into the air. He caught a tree branch while in midair and swung himself up onto it. He began making his way up through the branches again and shortly found himself near the peak of one of the trees, overlooking the forest canopy.
William saw the bat-fiend wheeling through the sky, just over the tree tops. It occasionally let out one of it's sonic screeches, blasting through the branches and leaves. Will reached up over his shoulder with his right hand and unlatched his father's broadsword. He took hold of the handle and drew it up and over his shoulder and into a middle, two-handed grip, point held out to his right.
As soon as Will had unlatched the sword the beasts head had swung in his direction, it's ears twitching occasionally to the sides, but staying mostly focused on him as it again swooped over the forest towards the Hunter.
William let go of his blade with his left hand for a moment and reached into his coat where he withdrew three throwing daggers. He held them out to the side and dropped them, where he knew they would strike point first, because of the way they were balanced, into the first solid object they found. Will only hoped Kiro was watching and would retrieve the daggers and use them when the time was right.
Will retook his blade in both hands and braced himself against what he was sure was coming. The fiend swooped closer and suddenly threw both wings forwards. The beast hung suspended in the air for a moment, and in that moment it unleashed a screeching shockwave blast at William.
Will was ready. He resonated the power within himself and his sword and, as he swung the weapon out in a powerful crosscut, released the pent up power. The two attacks struck each other in midair. There was a crashing sound, like that of thunder, and all of the air in the area rushed back away from the point of impact.
Will held his ground atop the tree, the wind blowing his hair and jacket about.
How'd you like that, monster. Two can play this game.

((I had kind of been hoping that Kiro had noticed when William dropped those throwing daggers. So he could retrieve them and use them to provide support at the right moments.))

(( Yeah, sorry I was like going to bed when I checked last time.))

Kiro quickly swiped up the daggers William had dropped, placing the three firmly between his fingers.

Been a while since I've used daggers for throwing... All those assassinations gave me pretty good aim with them...

Kiro waited for the fiend to stop thrashing around so he could carefully aim at the monster. Kiro had been thinking about attacking one of the wings of the fiend so he could finally fall from the sky. Not to mention its probably lost a large amount of blood from Kiro's katana still wedged in its body from underneath.

The fiend swooped back, it's wings working to keep itself aloft. It reared it's head back and unleashed a second screeching shockwave blast. Will was ready for it again. He resonated the power within himself and his blade and swung out, unleashing the power as a shockwave of his own again.
The two blasts collided in the air once more, Though this time both combatants kept up the assault, pushing more and more power out into twin continual streams of sonic power. The two attacks crashed into each other, sending out pulsing waves of air and sound as they battled.
Will held his ground, atop the tree, the Howling Blade held sideways in front of his body. He gripped the handle in his right hand, his grip so tight his knuckles were white. His left hand was held against the back of the blade, against the wolf's snout. The blade was being forced back from the fiends assault and was cutting into his palm, his blood dripped down freely into the trees.
Damn, this thing's putting up a hell of a fight... I might have to push this harder than I want...
Will drew the power of the sword, resonating and releasing continually he could feel the power, between himself and his sword stretching tight, like a muscled stretched too taut. He knew he was reaching a limit but he knew he had no choice but to push harder. The fiend was pushing him back. He began to resonate more, harder, building up an excess of power and then suddenly released it all in once burst.
He felt The limit break, the muscle tear. The stone set in the swords crescent shaped hilt suddenly cracked, shards of it flying free. Several of them striking him, piercing into his flesh. One struck him in the eye. A crack appeared in the blade of the sword, across the wolf's eye.
The burst of power he had released tore itself through the fiends continuing release of sonic energy and struck the fiend itself. The beast was thrown through the air and fell into the trees. There was much cracking and crunching as it broke its way through the branches.
Will remained standing for a moment and then wavered, before falling off of his branch and down through the trees. He let go of the sword in his hand partway down and managed to snag a few branches to slow his descent. He hit the ground hard, groaning at the impact. He could feel blood running from several wounds across his chest, from his hand, and from his eye. He groaned and lay back on the ground, counting on Kiro to finish the job.

The moment the beat came toppling from the sky, Kiro made an aggressive sprint towards the area the fiend fell. Debris, soot and tree branches were thrashing about from the crash landing of the fiend. Kiro ran through it all and jumped up high over the fiend, landing atop of it with both daggers in hand. He sliced and diced and made a huge surgery of the monster by dismembering the wings first than began working its way at apparent organs. Extreme amounts of fluid gushes from the openings that were being made from Kiro's dicing.

Kiro then went around the fiend's side where his katana was exposed from its underside. Kiro made a huge effort to retrieve it, though it was covered in sticky fluid from the fiend. Kiro then went to find his other katana that had been misplaced then hurried over to his injured companion. "William, can you stand?" Kiro asked quickly and he stood over his partner.
