Chibito7 *glomps sin* *laughs* Really now, Sapp? I think MY parents are too old-fashioned, and certainly not the other way around. My parents think I'm too modern, but really, they've got a very conservative daughter... they have no idea what other girls can be like, which irks me sometimes. stressed I suppose, Mini, that may be not only differences in parents' individual behaviours and backgrounds, but also that fact you're a boy? I can't remember if you're an only child or not - in fact, I don't even know if Sapp is an only child. I'm sure you have a little brother, ne? xd Anyhow, I find my parents have learnt to be more lenient with my brother, who is four years my junior, and is thirteen right now. They let him do things I could never have done at his age, and although this may be down to the fact they have learnt from rearing me first, and because they want to give him the same privileges because I RIGHT NOW am getting them, I do think it's also because he's a boy and they don't worry as much. *shrug* Lol. It's something I have gotten over a long time ago because it's not my brother's fault and my parents just want the best for us, but it still irks me because they don't realise that they should give us privileges at the same age rather than the same time. Even if my brother nags about it they should wait till he's the right age. I would do that for my children, anyway. Well even though I do have a brother (who's ten years old), that didn't make my childhood any easier. I still had a rough time until I turned 15. My mum was very strict with me. Since she never had a chance to have a daughter, she regarded me as her sole future breadwinner, so basically I was put under enormous pressure to be my best. She also would punish me frequently just for minor altercations, which was counterproductive, because not only did I not change my ways they also made me become withdrawn and incredibly shy. Even after my brother was born my mother didn't stop putting pressure on me. It was only after I entered High School and found difficulty adjusting to social life and making friends that my mum stopped pressing me that much and allowed me more freedom. Of course by then it was a bit too late and wasn't able to do everything that mum hoped I would do.

@Mini: Oh yes... I think I remember now. You may have mentioned this before. sad I can imagine that the pressure isn't nice. I get enough as it is, and to be forced to be 'perfect'... *sigh* I'm sure I would go crazy. You've got quite the age gap with you and your brother, huh... I suppose everyone's different. I'm dead close to my brother, and we're like best friends, but we also get on each other's nerves a heck of a lot. Lol.
Well, I can't remember how old you are now, Mini, but, although it may be kinda late now, it's never too late to change and view everything in a different light. Yup, easier said than done, but... *muses* I would be unhappy if I always dwelled on the past rather than look to the future. I'm sure, whatever happened in your childhood, that who you are today is who everyone - we all here - love you for. =P Hehe.
@Sapp: I remember now. Troublesome one, right? rofl

Troublesome one, right? rofl Well it wasn't the pressure to be perfect that got to me. When I was a child I set quite high personal standards for myself and I always imagined I had the capabalities to be a lawyer or doctor, since I was actually a genius when I was young. It was when I entered the late stages of high school and realized I was never going to be the AAA academic student mum wanted me to be and then hearing abour how all of my childhood friends who I used to be better than surpassing me by miles. If I had been born a girl or my brother had been born a girl, everything would have been different. Not only do I have to do the housework and support my mum like a daughter would, I also have the burden of carrying on the family line like any son. Oh well I suppose it doesn't matter now. I'm already 20, so I get treated like any other adult now. My brother's ten years younger than me, thus sometimes I think my relationship with him is of a younger father with his son. It's too late to regret the decisions I made in the past. Now I have to concentrate on making decisions that will affect my future.

@Sapp: o.O You have an odd brother. Lol. And your avie looks tres pretty! 4laugh
@Niph (even though you won't read this): Commiserations... gonk I really had my fingers crossed for you. I'll try and track you down on msn sometime soon to talk to you. Talk over your future and whatnot.
@Mini: 3nodding Yeah. I mean, I think it's good to remember your past - what it was that made you you, but I don't think it's healthy to dwell on it obsessively and blame it. Because, you can't change it anymore; what's happened has happened, and we can only move forward. I also think that worrying too much about the future is unhealthy too (but I can't talk), because my personal belief is that you also have to take life as it comes and enjoy it, rather than plan every step ahead. It's nice to have a bit of mystery about where your next foot is going to land. I hope it doesn't get you too down, this stuff with your mum. Just remember that you are who you are, and although you (and we) have regrets, we just have to make sure we do our best not to make as many regrets as we did before. Regrets will keep being made, but we can always try to stem the amount.
*reads over* I'm going all... deep. Hope you don't mind. xd

Love you all x Niph!! Sorry about missing out on Cambridge for good. Does this mean you're no longer coming back on Gaia? Even if it is, I still wish you best of luck if you're planning to take a Gap year.

@niphz: well you know the saying; "plenty more where that came from" there are prolly dozens of other schools that would want you. Cambridge is just one school that doesn't know quality when it applies for them right in front of their face anyways blaugh
