Merriara I play oboe, and I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice on how to play really high notes? if so, thanks! It helps if you go in on the reed. My teacher told me just recently that he used to have to put his mouth all the way up to the thread every time he played the F above the staff. There are sometimes keys that you can put down to make a few of the higher notes to respond better that you could probobly find on a fingering chart. Also, even though this may be an obvious one, use lots of air! Hope that helps ^-^

Moonlight_Bandit I play the oboe as my main insturment, I haven't actually marched before so yea Oboe may be the most evil instrument to tune but it's totally kickass as far as i'm concerned. Do u know how many slams i've heard about the oboe??????? Well i won't go psycho or anythng, sometimes i laugh too...but oboe is #1 baby! xd xp

Hiiii, I'm a bassoonist. I actually march with my clarinet, but my old bassoon dinosaur has a place where a lyre was so someone apparently marched with it! Lolol!!! lol

bn126556 but oboe is #1 baby! xd xp Hecks yes. Oboe rocks. It does get slammed a lot though. I've never really had problems tuning it and it sounds amazing. Especially in the lower register. Too bad concert band music for oboe isn't written low very often.
