DC: 12 - 1 (from Tairu) -1 (from Takeshi) = 10 Total Seals Learned: 9/12 Rewards: +1 Intelligence But the attempt immediately fell apart once a fly flew by, almost an inch away from her face. Kaede flinched considerably, shoulders stiffening, and her hands flew out to wave the insect off. It wasn't so much that bugs frightened her, but the fact that it was invading her personal bubble and that it was about to touch her. The girl hated to be touched, and it seemed the fly had mutual feelings. It darted out of her hands range and zipped away, she could feel the vibrations from its little wings echoing in her ears.
Then, when the girl was sure it was gone, she looked back at her lap. Almost making eye contact with Hyuuga-san, but thankfully missed. Kaede blushed, now embarrassed by her actions. It was probably distracting the others, with her trying to frantically brush away the fly. And they had been training so hard too. How inconsiderate.
"... sorry," she mumbled.
Though she did not specify who she was apologizing to, as she didn't want to indicate that she only knew Masato-san and Hyuuga-san's names. Kaede clasped her hands together in another attempt to perform the monkey seal.

At Tairu's answer, he caught himself. Takeshi had asked for their names, but he had not returned the favor. Though he couldn't care less for what they actually thought of him, but it was probably better that his future teammates didn't think of him as such a jackass. So he responded with, "Oh, sorry. Please forgive my rudeness." Though he didn't really mean it, Takeshi tried to make it sound sincere, for it was basic manners. "My name is Takeshi Sasaki, of the Uchiha Clan."
Since Takeshi was still low on chakra, he decided that instead of attempting to force the Henge no Jutsu and complete the lessons in order, he would instead practice Part 1 of the Bunshin no Jutsu training. He would continue to complete all his lessons in the order he could, not in the order some paper told him to. Takeshi thought that since he was low on chakra, the ideal lesson to learn for not was one that required no chakra, so the Bushin training was what he set his mind to. Takeshi tried again to perform the hand seals in the order specified: Tiger, Boar, Ox, Dog, while building up the little chakra he had recovered so far.
Nothing. In the time that Takeshi had been here at the Training Grounds, he had done nothing but used up all his chakra. Compared to his first minutes at the Academy, where he had already learned three hand seals, he was pathetic. So he would rely on his future teammates, to pull himself out of the rut that Takeshi seemed to be stuck in.

The incident with the fly was a conundrum to Tairu. A simple insect was enough to distract Kaede from her task when, although she went right back to her training immediately after the fly vacated the area. Is she really that afraid of insects? Tairu speculated. When Kaede formed the Saru hand seal after her incident with the fly she performed it flawlessly. Excellent job Kaede! Now you only have two more to go." Tairu informed her. He paused for a brief moment so that she could take in his words. After which Tairu quickly followed them up with "Next is U (Hare) hand seal and it looks like this." Tairu said as he extended both the index finger and thumb on each hand. Tairu then followed up his finger extention by locking his hands together.
It was at this point that the boy who had joined them finally spoke. Ah, an Uchiha, no wonder he came off as so arrogant. I wonder If I sound that arrogant some times? Tairu thought. Tairu looked at Takeshi for moment and then asked "What would you like me to help you with Takeshi?" as the boy had yet to actually tell Tairu.

DC: 12 - 1 (from Tairu) -1 (from Takeshi) = 10 Total Seals Learned: 10/12 Rewards: +1 Intelligence So his name was Sasaki Takeshi... and Sasaki-san was an Uchiha? That genius clan? Why does he not go by his clan's name? Was he ostracized by his clan members or is it his father's surname? Kaede could only wonder, never ask, as it seemed like a potentially sensitive issue. Not only that, but she didn't like it when people inquired about her surname-'Shirayuki? Shirayuki like Shirayuki YAMATO!? So you're the Garbage Man's daughter?'- and treated her differently upon knowing her family background. Instead, the girl opted to take this moment to express the encouragement she had originally intended to give Sasaki-san, now knowing academy boy's name.
"Um... Sasaki-san, it might s-seem difficult... at first. But I'm sure you can do it once you get the hang of the jutsu," she mumbled.
Shinobi can help/hurt each other by either assisting/offering advice/cheering presence or being distracting. As a Student, you can give -1/+1 to others when they are doing lessons/training. +1 to Takeshi
Kaede didn't have to worry about raising her voice so he could hear her, since Sasaki-san was as good at hearing as he claimed to be. What she DID worry about, was how she was going to do the hare handseal. It looked rather difficult, and unlike the rest of the handseals, the way the hands were joined in such a way unfamiliar to her. But these two would be the last ones. The girl positioned the index finger of her right hand along the side of the pinky finger on her left hand. A drop of sweat rolled down her cheeks. Her handseal felt so awkward...
And then Hyuuga-san's words sank in. These handseals were the basics to jutsu. She would be learning jutsu eventually. Her, and jutsu. It was scary to think about... what if she messed up and hurt herself? What if she hurt somebody else in her blunders? She already made so many in the basics...
"Ah... H-hyuuga-san? A-after... th-this what are we going to do...?"

DC: 12 - 1 (from Tairu) -1 (from Takeshi) = 10 Total Seals Learned: 10/12 Rewards: +1 Intelligence Her concentration slipped, and so did her fingers, when she had allowed herself to be taken up in the concern for the next lesson. 'Idiot, worry about the now, not the later. That's why you screwed up.'
Kaede couldn't help but wonder, after trying to form the hare seal, where her middle, ring, and pinky finger were supposed to go during the handseal. And seeing how the academy scroll didn't show the handseal at that angle, she'd have to use Hyuuga-san's hands as reference once more. It was a miracle she made it as far as she did, only looking at the scroll to figure out how the handseals were supposed to go without Hyuuga-san's help. The scroll was probably meant to supplement a lesson with an academy teacher, not to teach the entire lesson by itself. Originally, the girl had only intended to ask about help for just the serpent seal and now she was dragging Hyuuga-san through the rest of the handseals too. Kaede bit her lip, she was relying on him too much, probably imposing on him in the middle of his training...
And though the girl hasn't seen it for herself yet, she assumed he was here to train for himself too. Why else would Hyuuga-san be here? Certainly not for her sake. She'd just have to make it up to him with his training, be it the target practice for his kunai or a punching bag, or a test subject for experimental jutsu. Kaede didn't mind, Hyuuga-san was not like the rest of the village children, and she owed him that much for all the help he has done-
'-wait, back to the hare seal. That's why you screwed up in the first place. Geez, you never learn Shirayuki.' Kaede looked back at her hands, and checked back at the diagram in the scroll to see if they matched up.

Takeshi momentarily froze at the mention of those words. "Next is the Rabbit seal..." Takeshi's own failure at the Rabbit seal so many times made him wonder what would happen to Kaede. but then he thought, "Whatever happens, it's none of my buisness," though it would be upsetting if the girl got the Rabbit seal correct on the first try.
Takeshi turned his attention back to the first part of the Bushin no Jutsu training. But then he thought about Tairu and his question, so he replied, "I could use some help on the Bushin no Jutsu training. It seems that my fingers just keep sticking together."
After answering Tairu's question, Takeshi went back to work on the Bushin no Jutsu training. To his surprise, Takeshi got all the hand seals correct! He felt proud, but he would not let it show, at least all that much anyway, for he let out a small smile. Takeshi had somehow broken his failure streak, or maybe it was dumb luck. He determined that whether he failed or not the next time would tell Takeshi if it really was dumb luck.

Takeshi was glad that he had successfully performed the first part of the Bushin no Jutsu training, but he wasn't sure of whether or not he had broken his failure streak. To make sure that he wouild continued to succeed, Takeshi pulled out his assignment scroll and reviewed how to perform the Bushin no Jutsu hand seals. "Tiger, Boar, Ox, Dog..." he though to himself, and attempted to perform the Bushin no Jutsu hand seals while building up his chakra.
To his dismay, Takeshi had failed to get the hand seals right once more, now sure that the last time was just dumb luck. He kicked himself for getting his hopes up. He was no good at performing jutsu, at least not yet.

Though Takeshi was disappointed, he knew that if he did not move on, he would surely get nowhere. Takeshi thought about what he had t=done that made him fail. "I don't get it. I did as the scroll says to do... Wait a minute!" That was it! It had to be. Whenever Takeshi tried to study something, instead of going with his gut, he failed. Takeshi didn't understand why this was so, it sounded better the other way around, but it fit. So while remembering what he had done the first time he succeeded, when he was trusting his gut, Takeshi tried the Bushin no Jutsu hand seals again, this time on pure instinct.
Though he failed again, Takeshi was onto something. By trusting his gut, he got closer to completing the hand seals than he had before. Takeshi had stumbled onto something, something that he had overlooked while studying. Instinct. The word ran true to his soul. The more he though about it, the more he found that it was in every part of his being. How he lived, how he breathed. It did not require thought, only instinct. The instinct to survive.

Tairu watched as Kaede attempted to form the U hand seal but got distracted again. He had no idea what but could tell by watching her that she had been distracted by something. Hearing Kaede's question he responded. Well since there's enough of us here now I was hoping that we could try to do the Nawanuke no Jutsu." Told told her. As he talked to Kaede Tairu had also noticed that she had formed the U hand seal correctly and it was time for the final hand seal. "Excellent Kaede you nailed the U hand seal." Tairu informed her. "Now it's time for the twelfth and final hand seal the Hitsuji. (Ram)" Tairu said as he brought his together in order to demonstrate the seal. As he held the seal for Kaede to look at Tairu looked at Takeshi and told him "When I was teaching my self the Bunshin no Jutsu I would practice the hand seal several times before each try."

Now, there was the final handseal, the Ram. The girl stared at Hyuuga-san's hand seal, burning the image of the handseal in her mind and making note of the position of all his digits. That, and the advice that Hyuuga-san had given Sasaki-san about Bunshin no Jutsu. Even though she would not be practicing the same jutsu just yet-'What does the Nawanuke no Jutsu look like, I wonder?'-eventually, she would and Hyuuga-san might not always be there when the time comes.
The thought was utterly depressing, and Kaede wondered if she'll ever meet other people as nice as Masato-san, Hyuuga-san or Sasaki-san. It would be very... lonely. Something she had been very used to, and resigned to as her fate. Yet, now, the thought itched at her insides. It bothered her a lot.
Kaede frowned, and shook her head to scramble those thoughts. It would itch less if she would just concentrate on forming the handseal instead. Right, she chose Slowly she imitated Hyuuga-san's ram seal for herself, noting how difficult it was to keep the symmetry in her ring and pinky finger. She bit her lip, and tried pull together the mental effort of moving her ring finger next to her much shorter pinky finger. It felt like moving an artificial arm, the way it moved slowly, and how she couldn't move a few joints the way she wanted them to.
'C'mon.... Ram seal. Ram seal.'

Rewards: +1 Intelligence Kaede looked at her handseal, somewhat satisfied with the position of her ring finger. Then, she let her hands separate, and wiggled her fingers, feeling the cramps in her fingers disapating. The rest of her body was aching too, her right leg feeling asleep. Kaede picked herself off the ground, stretched her arms, feeling something in her shoulder making a small crack noise, and let out a yawn.
She wasn't used to waking up this early in the morning, having previously stayed up all night worrying about her first day at the academy. Something she still had apprehension about, but if Masato-san, Hyuuga-san, and Sasaki-san were in her classroom, she hoped so anyway, it would be much more bearable. It was pleasant wishful thinking. Then, she looked at her hands and noted how rough and dirty they looked and felt. The urge to wash them rose, and dark brown eyes darted around the area, landing on the lake nearby.
"I'll be back," Kaede murmured.
She slowly dragged herself over to the body of water and plopped on her knees. The girl bent down to dip her hands in the cool water, noting that the fish scattered once they sensed blood from her wounds. The wounds she had inflicted on herself back at the academy out of freight had yet to close. But they had stopped stinging a long time ago. Then, she wet the sleeves of her kimono, as much as she could, furiously rubbing at the stains, until they had faded in intensity. It was only a makeshift clean, until the girl could get home and do her laundry for real. The sleeves were pulled out of the water and squeezed several times over, until they went from dripping wet to damp wet. The girl returned back to the small study session with the other academy boys and plopped herself down, near Hyuuga-san.
"Um... I'm ready to try the Nawanuke no Jutsu."

The feeling that Tairu had upon seeing Kaede finish all of the hand seals was something that he had never felt before. I never could have imagined that helping someone would feel so great. Tairu thought to himself. He was also happy that he would be able to to get on with his own training now. "It's good to hear that you're ready for the Nawanuke no Jutsu, now we need either Kuro or Takeshi since it takes three people to do the training." Tairu looked at Takeshi who was working on his Bunshin and Kuro who was working on his hand seals. "Hey do either of you want to take a break for a moment and this jutsu with Kaede and I?" he asked them.

Takeshi heard Tairu, but was intensly focused on the Bushin no Jutsu training. "Come on, just like you did a moment ago. Focus!" he drilled in his mind, his inner voice a nail being scrapped against the chalkboard of his mind. Then, for some reason, he heard that Kaede had finished the hand seal training. He didn't know why, but his mind processed the two people speaking in the opposite order. "Good job, Kaede" he thought, but then corrected himself with, "No! Come on man, focus!" He kicked himself again for getting distracted. So with his mind fully focused on the Bushin no Jutsu hand seals, he began to build up his chakra and attempted to perform said seals.
Yet he failed again, stumbling on the transition from the Tiger seal to the Boar seal, now frustrated that he could not perform four hand seals. Takeshi kicked himself again that he was so incompetent. Then realizing that he had completely ignored Tairu's question, at least momentarily, he responded, "Yeah, sure, let's give it a shot. Beats this crap."
He walked over to Tairu, ready for the Nawanuke no Jutsu training. "This is the one where we get tied up and have to escape, right?" He knew that he was talking about the right jutsu, he had read about it from the assignment scroll, but Takeshi wanted to stir up some lite conversation, even if it was only going to be a one word reply.

"Yes that is precisely what we are going to be doing." Tairu said in answer to Takeshi's question. Tairu then walked over to takeshi and pulled out some rope from one of the pouches on his belt. "If you don't mind Takeshi, could you tie up Kaede and I first?" Tairu asked him. Tairu was eager to get this training done as he only tom complete this and a Taijutsu spar before he could participate in the Gennin exams. Tairu planned to surprise his family by becoming a Gennin without telling them he was going to do it.
