Convergence Application

Name: Song Yi Kim
Age: 22
Gender: Female
Appearance: Not quite ugly but hardly good-looking enough to be classified as "pretty," Song is well in the average zone. At least, she hopes she's at least average. A little overweight for her height, she shows the excess fat mainly her tummy and thighs. Each of her ears has a single piercing but she doesn't wear any earrings. Regularly worn jewelry consists of a gold bracelet from her mother on her right hand and a gold key pendant necklace hanging from her neck. Her black hair, which she's been growing out lately, is usually tied into a loose ponytail for ease of life. Her fingers show signs of a bad nail-biting habit, her teeth are in sore need of braces, and she doesn't regularly shave anywhere despite obviously needing to in the leg and armpit area. Beyond those flaws, though, she looks like most other Asians.
Height: 5'
Weight: 135 lbs.
Body type: Rather unfit. She's a bit overweight, but far from obese. When wearing a loose shirt, it's almost impossible to notice.
Skin type: Just a touch darker than the expected skin tone for Asians. Acne marks the face and neck area. Boy, is she glad that her parents forced her to wax her hair just a few days ago. The clothing section explains why.
Eyes: Black and small, rather squinty even for Asian eyes. Often covered by rectangular glasses used to correct her near-sighted vision. The glasses have a simple, black frame that doesn't cover the lower half of the lens.
Hair: Black and straight, easily brushing past the middle of her back. It's normally brushed once in the morning and once in the evening, washed every day with condition and w/ or w/o shampoo, so it's properly maintained but not particularly amazing asides from the sheer amount of it, and even in that characteristic it's been regularly outshone by other hairs. Unused to not washing her hair every day, it starts to itch and bother her if she goes a day without washing it. Two days she's never attempted, and is no doubt even worse than just one day. She doesn't necessarily even need hair products to soothe her scalp, just a good rinsing and scrubbing with simple water would ease the itch.
Clothing: Jeans and a t-shirt with the addition of a jacket at the first hints of cold constitute Song's usual wear. She's also in the habit of wearing running shoes outdoors and going bare feet indoors. Of course, the events of Cataclysm all occur when Song is asleep and she just has to have the worst luck and get stuck in whatever pjs she's happening to where at the time. Until some kind soul or divine intervention decides to get her out of this clothing predicament, she's stuck wearing a worn, black tank top that has a few small holes and no bra. At the very least her bottom half is more presentable, albeit barefoot. For pants, she's wearing sweat shorts that have one leg emblazoned with her undergraduate college's name. They reach down to mid-thigh. All in all, it's not too bad. It could have been much worse. Song has a whole host of pajamas that are in no way suitable for rigorous activity.
Unusual Marks:

HP: 100
STR: 10
DEF: 10

Active Abilities
Name: Esuna (10)
Description: The user heals a single target, which could be herself, for a percentage of total HP equal to the level of this ability. There is also a percentage chance of curing minor status effects that is equal to the level of this ability. If Song wants, she can freely lower the effectiveness of Esuna, such as healing for only 5% when she could heal for 10%. Upon reaching certain points in its level growth, Esuna becomes even more potent and flexible.
25 - For two rounds after Esuna is cast, the target is immune to minor status effects.
50 - Esuna can now cure major status effects.
75 - For two rounds after Esuna is cast, the target is immune to major status effects.
100 - Esuna can now effect multiple targets by splitting the percentage of hp healed and the percentage chance of curing status effects between each target. The division does not need to be equal.
125 - Esuna can now cure all status effects.
150 - For two rounds after Esuna is cast, the target is immune to all status effects.

Name: Memoria (10)
Description: This non-elemental spell strikes a single target for normal spell damage. Extremely malleable, it can take any number of forms: a simple bolt, a placed explosion, or shrouding a weapon as it attacks are just a few options. If the target is defeated within the same round that it was targeted by this technique, there is a chance that a card with detailed and honest information on the target will be created. Whether or not the card is created is determined by comparing this ability's points with the target's defense. If the target's defense is lower, than a card is created regardless of whether or not the ability actually dealt any damage. In the case of a tie, Memoria wins. When created, the card appears in Song's hands.
Memory cards, as cards created by Memoria Finale will be called from now on, resemble the cards used in Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories, fitting as this is a dream(?) with heavy resemblances to Kingdom Hearts. Most Memory cards are about the same size as Chain of Memories cards, too. Although, a few are bigger, sized so because the extra room was needed for all the details. These cards can be stored in an extradimensional space when not needed, and when they are needed, they can be retrieved by concentrating on the subject of the card (ability action). Multiple cards can be summoned at once when needed, such as when comparing information between two specific monsters or just trying to summon all cards with a particular trait. The cards do not need to be held, as they float and can be controlled in a telekinetic-like manner by Song as a free action. The cards are not fit to be weapons. They won't be destroyed permanently, but will appear to shatter and then return to whatever pocket dimension they are stored in.
Defeating a target isn't the only way to create Memory cards. A willing target can also generate a Memory card without being defeated.

Name: Haste (10)
Description: The user gives extra actions to any number of targets. The total number of extra actions that may be given is the number of points invested into Haste divided by 10. E.g. At 10 points, the user may only give one target on extra action but at 20 points, the user may give one target two extra actions or two targets one extra action each.

Passive Abilities
Name: Plot Armor ~ Important NPC
Description: Being knocked to 0 hit points or lower doesn't make Song keel over. She rises back on her next post with a vengeance, or would if she wasn't so cowardly and passive, at 1 hp and in perfectly normal condition (no status effects, buffs, debuffs, etc.). After being activated, plot armor goes on cooldown until Song manages to heal back up to at least a quarter of her health.

Banshee Coffeetime

I feel obligated to help Psalm by pointing out the most obvious problems.

Firstly: Super Ok... The most obvious fault with what's written is that you won't be able to heal that much right out the gate. As she's stated several times, each ability starts with 10 points. I think the absolute most you could get would be healing 10% total across x number of people, with a chance to cure 1-2 ailments(poison, paralysis, etc.).

Secondly: This Tornado Loves You... 10 points can't possibly grant something the homing trait. With what it has, you might be able to use it as a weak area attack that possibly knocks up, or a stronger, single target ability that deals damage and has crowd control. With the way it's written, it feels intended for 1 target. If so, I recommend making it a multi-turn ability used to lock down a specific enemy for the duration. Of course, it's your choice, so do as you will.

And Lastly: I am a Heart... The idea is sound, but you need to scale it down some. I think something closer to 25-50% bonus to Defense. Alternatively, because of how it's named, you could go for a weak regeneration of, say, 2% per turn.

Please note that I am not Psalm, and, therefore, cannot speak for her. However, as someone who has had to deal with such balancing issues before, I am offering advice on how to adjust these abilities to match the intended goal.
Remember... We're all starting at basically level 1. No one is ever this powerful at this level. It sucks, but we'll eventually get past the suckiness to the good stuff.

Banshee Coffeetime
Convergence Application:

Name: This Tornado Loves You
Description: Unleashes a savage wind storm which chases after one enemy, unable to stop until it has hit its target.

Yeah, Phantom is right, it's too early on for homing. The stats determine if it hits, and if it doesn't it should just fizzle out.

You could leave it as just a wind storm, or maybe add something like a 20% chance of causing a status. Like "If this hits, has a 20% chance of making the opponent Dizzy. Dizzy causes the opponent to lose one of their actions for next turn."

Quote:
Passive Ability
Name: I Am A Heart
Description: Increases DEF to double base DEF when attacked.

This one can't be allowed as it is. It means every point you put into you DEF stat counts as 2 points. Instead, you could have a chance of doubling your DEF every time you're attacked. Say, 10%.

"Every time Luke is attacked, his base DEF stat has a 10% chance of doubling."

Or, "Every time Luke is attacked, his base DEF stat has a 25% chance of increasing by 25%."

Response: So to start, this would heal for 10%, and have a 10% chance of curing minor status effects?

I just told Banshee he could heal 10% HP distributed among 3 allies, and have a 20% chance of curing only 1 status effect from each. Yours would only be one target with a 10% heal and a 10% chance of curing all minor status effects. That looks fair to me. 3nodding

The upgrades look good.

Response: Cool. So, when you defeat an enemy, you compare the ability points of Memoria to the DEF stat of the enemy defeated, and if yours is greater you get the card? If so, yes, this is approved. I really like it.

I've put my response below your response and took out the ability descriptions as well as any abilities that were approved without comment because things were starting to get really big.

Kage's Response: Yes. 10% and 10% at start
The upgrades look good but you want this to be only single-target? Um... This technique start with only a single-target option and gains multi-target capabilities at higher levels. Do you want me to edit out the multi-target upgrade, or were you just saying that it's good that the ability starts out at only a single target?

I've edited the app, so tell me what you think whenever you get a chance, Psalmie. No rush! I'm patient.

Also, Psalmie, I'm sorry I even had those abilities like that in the first place. It was seriously a "you could've had a V8!" moment for me when I realized how strong they were. I guess I just got carried away and forgot what app the abilities were for in the first place. sweatdrop

Alright, let's see what I need to fix.

Convergence Application:
Name: Kyle
Age: 25
Gender: Male
Appearance: Kyle is 6'0 tall, weighs roughly 170 lbs, and has an average, lean frame, neither brawny nor frail. His sandy-brown hair is generally kept short--a couple inches on the top, swept back and to the side, and roughly half an inch on the sides. He prefers to keep clean-shaven. He has oak-brown eyes and fair skin. As is, he's wearing simple khaki-colored shorts, a white button-up with thin blue vertical stripes, the sleeves rolled up above his elbow, and some black running shoes.

HP: 100
STR: 10
DEF: 10

Abilities
Name: World Eater [ 10 Points ]
"Reality is the finest flesh, oh bearer mine. And are you not... hungry?"
Description: Kyle reaches out with his hand toward a target area, closes his fist, and pulls his arm back in a ripping motion. The target area cracks in distortion as a sudden vacuum-like implosion occurs, turning matter (including air) into energy that drains back into Kyle. By default, this heals Kyle for 5% HP. Targets hit, however, add healing based on damage done.

Name: Claws of the Devourer [ 10 Points ]
"Give me your arm, oh bearer mine. Let me help you fill the world with teeth."
Description: Kyle enchants his body (or weapon) with three charges of life-draining power. The next three successful hits have damage increased using the points from this skill, using up a charge: the first charge increases damage by 20% of Claws, the second charge increases damage by 30% of Claws, and the final charge increases damage by 50% of Claws. The damage done by these attacks is drained back into Kyle for HP.

Name: Reaver of Will [ 10 Points ]
"The equations balance thus: you are diminished, and I am exalted. You are broken, and I am made strong."
Description: Kyle reaches out with his hand toward a target, closes his fist, and pulls his arm back in a ripping motion. The target feels as if their willpower is being torn out. If successful, then after damage calculation, the target's DEF is lowered by 25% of its maximum, and Kyle's STR is increased by the amount deducted. The effect lasts three turns, but the effect on the target cannot stack--only refresh. If blocked, the person's will power resists, and there is no effect.

Passive Ability
Name: Scales of the Wroth
"They would break you, oh bearer mine. Show them the price of folly."
Description: Should Kyle fall below 10% HP, a spiked shield envelops him before becoming invisible, increasing his DEF by 10. If/when it breaks, it ruptures for 10 + D20 damage in an area around him, requiring a DEF roll.

Spoke to you over Skype about this. This ability adds to damage, not to attack power. Additionally, it increases your HP by the amount of damage you've dealt. It only comes into play on successful hits. This is good. 3nodding

Convergence Application:
Name: Joe
Age: 22
Gender: Male
Appearance: Joe is a tall and broad shouldered young man in his early twenties, standing at around 6’2 and weighing 200 lbs. His frame is stocky, although not visibly built, with long legs and arms and held in a fencer’s straight posture. His blond hair is kept short in a Caesar style and he prefers to stay clean shaven. He has fair skin and bright blue eyes which are usually behind a pair of dark-rimmed glasses., which are almost always covered with thick-rimmed glasses. He’s typically rather ascetic with his fashion choices and is currently wearing a white t-shirt underneath a light-blue Oxford with the sleeves rolled up, indigo jeans, black belt, and black boots. He has an affinity for ‘winter clothing’ (cardigans, walker coats, and scarves) and will wear them when climate and circumstance allows.

HP: 100
STR: 10
DEF: 10

Abilities
Name: Gryphon’s Roar
Description: Joe sharply exhales and summons a small sphere of force around him that explodes outward, damaging all in the blast radius. Damage is calculated by dividing the ability’s strength by the number of creatures caught in the blast radius. Once hit, the opponent has a 20% chance of being stunned. If stunned, the opponent loses the ability to defend against one attack or attack for one attack, giving Joe some leeway in how he uses it.
The blast can be used either offensively (stun enemies, knock over smaller/weaker ones) or defensively (can deflect projectiles, give Joe breathing room, and prevent him from being staggered).

Name: Alphyn’s Hunt
Description: Joe glows with a violet aura that increases his speed and reflexes for a brief period of time, allowing him to move faster and respond more easily to enemy attacks. The user will appear as though they are teleporting when making quick movement (running, rolling, jumping) although in reality they are merely in motion faster than most eyes can track. This buff lasts for three turns.

Name: Wodan’s Runic Weapon
Description: Joe can apply spell blade-style effects to his weapon, allowing him to deal both physical and magical damage, as well as target potential weaknesses or apply status effects. Each of these effects can only last for three turns, but they can be swapped out at will if the user desires it.
Currently, Joe has the following effects unlocked:

  • Fiur: Joe coats his weapon with a searing flame
  • Is: Joe coats his weapon with a chilling frost
  • Blic: Joe coats his weapon with crackling lightning

Passive Ability
Name: Wodan’s Precognition
Description: Joe has a sixth sense of sorts that makes him much more aware of his surroundings, giving him better reflexes when attacked. This works out to a 25% chance that his defense will increase by 10% when attacked.

Weapon(s):

------------

That should be everything from our little message exchange. Tell me if there's anything else I need to add or clarify.

Convergence Application:
Name: Joseph
Age: 26
Gender: Male
Appearance: Joseph is a short but stout male. Standing at 5'8", he sports broad shoulders and a belly, being someone on the fat side(though it goes more out the front than to the sides). Moderately hairy all over, he tends to sport at least reddish stubble(sometimes a full on red goatee or beard) thanks to his genetics, even though he has hair that looks auburn at the roots, fading into a blond at the tips. Hair length is about 2 1/2 inches long, usually slicked back when wet, and once dry just seems to floof about. He has pale skin, grey eyes, and a resting b***h face(that belies his soft, squishy center).

Clothing wise, he tends to wear 'comfortable' clothes. Things like sweatpants, baggy t-shirts, tank tops, baggy shorts. Less covering him or being tight around him, the better. Usually tends to wear sneakers or flip flops. And sometimes socks if his feet are cold.

HP: 100
STR: 10
DEF: 10

Abilities
Name: ᛊ ᛋ (Sōwilō)
