Eros stood in the forest. Sunlight shone around him, yet it did not touch him. He rested under the protection of an oak tree. The portrait was in his hands, uncovered. His own image smiled seductively at him. "This is my face through the eyes of another," he whispered to no one. He covered the painting again and simply sat. He stood slowly and looked at the forest. He closed his eyes and heard the forest. He opened his mind and felt the forest. He knew Lucas would never see, never hear, and never feel again. He reached his cold hand iut to the light. His fingertips burned; his knuckles were singed. This was the only pain Eros had been allowed to physically feel for over 700 years. All other pain resided in his dead heart.

Devi shivered, the daylight no comfort to her. She tossed and turned, in and out of sleep. She knew her beloved was hurting, that the pain he felt was beyond that of what she knew. She wanted so badly to hold him, to let him know how much she regreted what had happend. But she knew she could not. She knew he had to come to her on his own. Every minute seemed to last forever, her mind open and listening for the very slightest call to her. Worrieing about the daylights effects on her Prince. She tried so hard to sleep so that the pain would numb.

Eros stood before the door of the castle. His hand was covered in stripps ripped off the sheet. Three knuckles had been burnt through. Blood stained the sheet, but he cared not. He opened the door and walked slowly to the fire. He glanced to Devinity in acknowledgement of her prescence but did little more. He cleared an suitable area atop the mantle of the fire, uncovered the portrait, and placed it in that spot. He held the sheet loosely in his undamaged hand, standing back from the fire. He patiently awaited what would happen next.

Devi looked at the painting a moment, quickly covering her face in her hands and sobbing. She turned away from him, curling up with her knees almost up to her stomach, sobbing a bit louder. Shivering again and again. She felt that the events had only deepend the rift between them. She felt he simply must blame her for the death of the boy. She had only the expectation of the sound of his footsteps away from her, and awaited that seemingly eminate accourance.

Eros gazed at her sobbing form. He wanted to hate her for crying. He wanted to curse her and betray her for daring to act as if she were truly sorry. Yet, he could not. He knew she was in pain. He knew this was not unaffecting to her. He walked to her side slowly, almost hesitantly. He He sat down quietly beside and drew her into his arms. He said nothing. No accusing words, no whispers of hate flew from his lips. He merely held her as she cried.

Devi wrapped her arms tightly around him feeling so unworthy of his grace. She dared not look at him. She touched her fingers to his neck lightly, her face burried against his chest. She pushed close against him, as though hopeing to never be let go. She sobbed on and on. "I-...I love you..." she expected no anwer.

He closed his eyes. Mortals seemed to always dream that vampirism and immortal life would be enjoyable. They were fools. Immortality is simply a false life filled with pain and despair. "Je sais. Et moi, je t'aime aussi."

She took his hand and whispered "Will you come with me to my room? Come and lay with me. Let us lock away the rest of the world..." She slowly looked up into his eyes, pleadingly. She could no longer sit in this cold room where the memories hung in the air.

He returned her her gaze steadily. He leaned down slighty to place a small kiss upon her soft hair. "As you wish," he whispered. He stood slowly and carried her up each step.

He heard what they are recently said and he closed his door. "Its nice to know that this will probably happen again." He laid back down, he truly wanted to destroy everything in the room, in fact, he wanted to cut things. Things made of flesh.

Baylor layed against one of the doors in the corridors along with Yin and Yang, horrified by what they had experienced during their stay here. A while before, they saw Devi and Eros yelling at each other and talking about someone. Baylor had no idea of who exactly they were talking about and neither did Yin or Yang. After a little bit, they saw Eros come out of a room carrying a boy none of them had seen. Baylor wondered who the boy was and was about to go ask them, but befor he could, Eros had killed him. As they looked back on what they had just experienced, they tried to figure out what was really going on.

She lay down on the bed slowly, looking up at him. Shivering she pulled the blanket around her. Her eyes looked a rare mix of innocent saddness as she touched his hand lightly to join her. The rich green and black four poster bed's comfort seeming to mean nothing. She lightly waved her hand, the door locking. "They are all unhappy..." She whispered carelessly, absentmindedly.
