My Vietnamese friend told me that Cantonese people believe Hong Kong is the captial of China, is this correct?

lol, my Viet-american friend also told me that in his book, only Cantonese are Chinese, if I am not a Cantonese I am not a Chinese in his book.
There must be very few Manderins in America.

Most of the Chinese in Chinatown Manchester over here (UK) speak Canto, but we have quite a few Mandos too... Generally I think Britain is split, with perhaps slightly more Cantos...?
And Mandos are the majority in China, and is the main Chinese language.

But of course Mandos are still Chinese. xd

There are plenty of Mandarin people in the UK, yeah.. I think B&B is right, there are a few more Cantonese.. HK was British after all..

It's not surprising that most overseas Chinese, especially ones with more than two generations of family, are Cantonese. Canton(Guangzhou) was regarded as the trade and financial capital of China early last century after all. It's only in the last fifteen years that non-Canto Chinese have actually migrated to other countries in large numbers.

I think most westerners see cantonese as chinese. Cantonese is just one part of Chinese culture, but a lot of westerners dont' know that
