Okay, so today I was home alone, bored, and listening to final fantasy music (specifically, the end of FFX)...and it has a low oboe part at the beginning of it. So, I got my oboe out and I learned it by ear. xd I'm such a nerd.
My oboe just got back yesterday after being in the shop for a month...it's so much easier to play now! Tons of keys were leaking before, and now every note just sounds a lot better. =D

Thank you for making this i was gonna cry if there was no where for us oboes to go. I'm so jealous of all of you bassoon players!! crying My fingers aren't long enough to play the bassoon and its so sad. Anyway the oboe rocks to but I wish I could play them both.

They actually make 'short reach' bassoons which have these extensions on the keys that make them closer together so people with smaller hand spans can play them. If you couldn't tell, I play bassoon - but I would also love to learn how to play the oboe!

Ah, trombones - they amuse me very much ^^ When ever they have to read tenor clef I laugh at them because they have no clue how to read it =^^=

I played the oboe for half of my sixth grade year and marched with it once, I loved it and I reaalllly wanted to get better and make it sound better, but I just couldn't, so I switched to clarineeto. I have very much respect for you double reedists, it's very hard.

Heheh, I wouldn't know a thing about reed brands. From the day I started, I was taught that storebought reeds are awfull and should not be trusted. My teacher actually makes reeds for me at about $12 each. Funny story, he is actually trying to grow his own cane in his back yard xd . The plant is huge and really cool-looking, but he says his cane doesn't make very good reeds...must be the climate in Ohio... sweatdrop

As I've said before, that is not an excuse. They make short reach bassoons which allow people with smaller hand spans to play fine. Play bassoon!!!
