KitoYasha SullenFever98 KitoYasha I like sightreading, personally. I always get a perfect score on it in competitions. ^_^ Why couldn't it be like that for me? Do you have a problem with it? Maybe I could help?-shrug- I don't know I'm just not very good at sight reading in any type of competition thing. I think it's just this whole nervousness thing I get. I get really nervous and I can't breathe that great.

KitoYasha RinoaHeartilly KitoYasha death_angle I quit flute for trombone.
It all started with a clarinet, then went to a flute, then to a trombone... Crazy, eh? Unusual. I went from clarinet to flute to guitar to flute to guitar to flute to clarinet to flute.
I guess I like flute best...That's a lotta switching. I used to take piano lessons, but then my teacher died and so in the 6th grade I picked up the flute. Your teacher DIED?! That's a kick in the crotch.yeah... it was... odd.

Padfoot_Freak Wow I haven't posted in here forever. Yeah my band is okay, I'm first chair. Though I have no room because I'm on the wrong end crying Thats okay. The person next to me is obsessive about her space, it's annoying. Though I'm trying out for sympohic band soon. It's one band up from the band I would just go into next year. Though sightreading is part of the tryout and I suck at sightreading. Oh also I got a piccolo last weekend! It's so nice smile xD I'm not obsessive with space, but it's nice to have some room instead of having your arms crunched inwards and your whole body turned so your flute isn't in the persons ear xDDD Sightreading is a part of tryouts here too, along with playing the chromatic scale and a piece selected by the BDs.

We don't have a symphonic band, but our first playing test is on the Marching Band music, ten points off with music. And if you challenge someone the BD selects sections from the pieces you're doing for the next concert, the chromatic scale, 2 or 3 other scales, and a sightreading piece. You get a minute to look it over and finger it, but you can't try to play it. Yeah, I'm not big on "My space, fools!" but my Flute likes to breathe once in awhile.

So I finally got my flute back out of the shop, and it's all shiny and everything... but now I'm having a hard time convincing myself to start playing it in class again. sweatdrop I have no problem taking it out and playing it at home - that's fun. But I can't get myself to play it in class. Yesterday (the first day I had it at school) I stuck it behind my sax case and played sax for class. And now I've got three different people telling me three different things. >> One of the flute players (whom I'm good friends with) says that they're doing okay and that the section won't, like, spontaniously combust without me. One of the other flute players is like, "If you don't play your flute I'm going to tell Gentry (the BD) that it's fixed and she'll make you play it." >> Which is just dumb. And then the other tenor player thinks I should stay on sax, which my other band friends are backing up because they know I'm having fun playing tenor (and they know I like the other tenor XDD). So now I don't know what to do. I love flute more than anything, even more than sax. But I can't make myself want to play it in class anymore. It sucks. >>

I'm a horrible advice-giver. I'd probably want to stay on tenor too (cause I hate my section) but I don't know.
On another note, I was playing yesterday, when I discovered sticky pads (really, really bad ones.) I only started having to deal with these this year 'cause my other flute never got them. So I tried to un-sticky them, but they wouldn't stay un-stickied. I made me mad, so I put it away before it got hurt.
I'm actually starting to like old Piece a'crap better. I played it for our last two performances of the musical, and found that it was easier to tune, and didn't stick, even after it spilled all over the street when I opened the truck door. I'm sad 'cause now I wanna play Piece a'crap, but I'm still paying for my good flute. crying

I went to my lesson teacher's house for the first time today, it was cool. I apparantly need to learn how to breathe, though. I'm happy 'cause we get to do a recital and I've never done one before. Otherwise not much has happened since yesterday.

XD I seem to have escaped just in time. One of the girls went all "flute-nazi" and now there's a bunch of drama erupting. Dear lord. It's CRAZY. I feel kind of bad because it's partially my fault... now that I'm gone they're leaderless. >> But... tenor-guy seems happy that I'm now in the sax section. Well, happy for him, anyway. He was picking on me all day yesterday. XP
