10:34 GST: Research spacecraft Athena-IV's navigation module fails. Crew sends distress call to headquarters. (The data will later show that the crew were already dead by the time the distress call reached central command. There is a 5 hour communication delay.)
11:15 GST: Athena-IV has made a successful emergency landing on Charybdis-XII. It is yet unexplored. Atmospheric conditions are favorable to organic life.
12:41 GST: The crew report that the ship's life support functions are intact. They have spotted a cave that contains a substance that visually resembles H₂O. They send a team to initiate sampling and analysis.
12:50 GST: Contact with the sampling team cuts off abruptly. They never return. Video from their head cameras shows colorful mollusk-like lifeforms on the cave walls. A team member comments that they seem docile and the team proceeds into the cave. The mollusks were not docile, only awaiting their moment to strike.
01:32 GST: Contact with Athena-IV cuts off.
Three days later, a rescue spacecraft circles Charybdis-XII to search for survivors. Satelite photos reveal remnants of the spaceship, which appears to have been exposed to large amounts of acid. Colorful mollusk-like creatures sit all over it. Further inspection is deemed pointless and the rest of the Athena-IV crew is presumed dead.
