Well if you ask me... the other starters (except for the water) got crappy

Chimar was a monkey version of Torchic (bleah... not my favorite anyways)
Piplup bridged the gap between water and steel (Love this one)
and
Turtwig made it even hard for grass to succeed by adding more weaknesses as a ground/grass type (beware the ice T^T)

I'm gonna KILL YOU for insulting my beloved Chimchar *strangles Liger* By the way I didn't like any of the starters other than Chimchar, but I abosolutely loved Spinx (i think)/ Luxio/ Luxray. I mostly like fire and lightning types because they are so awesome at contests, and in emreld I had my Blaziken who was a top dog Beauty Contest and In platinum/Pearl I had my Infernape and Luxray (aka King and Queen) to win my contests. By the way Obsession you said Digimon.

@ Ubo: Your point would be valid if and only if we were talking about red and blue... In Gold/Silver (my favorite) Grass has little to know advantage in the gyms...

Johto gyms:
1) flying (pwn grass)
2) Bugs (pwn again espcially when most are either secondart poison or flying)
3) Normal (there is no advantage on either side)
4) Ghost (highly unlikly that you'll have something with an advantage over them)
5) Fighting (...)
6) Steel (no advantage, but grass or not very effective anyways)
7) Ice (DO we even need to go into this?!)
8 ) Dragon (supreme disadvantage because they have access to all of Grasses weaknesses)

What level is your Togekiss exactly? and Gallade is like Alakazam can't take a hit for crud..

and I am a pokemon fanatic myself..

and

3) Normal (there is no advantage on either side) yeah true
4) Ghost (highly unlikly that you'll have something with an advantage over them) eevee stages handle it well I had my espeon by now
5) Fighting (...) yet again easily handled by a flying or espeon
6) Steel (no advantage, but grass or not very effective anyways) Steelix is easily handled by grass type starter or fire or water
7) Ice (DO we even need to go into this?!) bad for grass but by now you should have something but flying sucks here too

and my Rapidash is pretty tough too

Dude, the Eevee family pwns all. In my old silver, I had a party of Jolteon, Flareon, Vaporeon, Espeon and Umbreon. I'd switch out my last one constantly. I almost always use Vaporeon as my water/ice type though, it's even better than Blastoise, in my opinion.

Although, when I played Emerald, I did switch out Vaporeon for a Milotic.

GAH!!!!! I'm talking about the gyms in Gold and Silver as you approach them in the game... in order with the grass starter to establish that it is not and will never be easy (not including the cheaters out there....

Now in point of order...

@Urob: like I said before this is with the grass starter vs. the Johto Gyms...

@Chris: Like with Urob... I was talking about Chicarita vs. the gyms 3nodding
-oh and my Togekiss is lv.85 and Gallade, if trained right is awesome... Gallades usually have high sp.def and mediocre defense, comparing to an Alakazam is a sin worthy of death...

@Excal: Nothing to say for you, dude... I usually don't run the eevee family, although they work well for stories... on Platinum, my Espeon and Umbreon are twins... took forever, but I they were born close to the same time (like 5 steps) and their exp is the same... I only use them in double battles though...

Ok I see but my steel gym one was my point and ESPEON IS THE s**t! my last one was lvl 100 with about 500 sp. atk and was hella fast yeah eevee is only avalible through trade and Leafeon and Espeon are the best eevee stages in my opinion..

2) Leafeon (LEAF BLADE!!!)
3) Jolteon (fast muthertrucker)
4)Vaporeon (Something about Acid Armor just turns me on)
5) Glacian (so pretty and the cry gives me an orgasm rofl )
