The Torkoal, not wanting unprofessional (and completely hypocritical) psychological advice, continued to hide in his shell.
"Keep attacking, Napalm!" Mike cried, stomping his foot on the ground in excitement. He was so caught up in the moment that he did not notice the rocky floor beneath him begin to crack. "Let's coax him out of that shell of his! Try a Fire Punch!" The Magmar stopped his mental assault, his eyes returning to normal and the blue glow surrounding his body wavering off in the natural heat lines from his body. He reared back his fist and charged forward, delivering a flaming uppercut to the downed Torkoal. The shell spun in the air helplessly, the confused Pokemon's cries could be heard from inside. Seconds later the Pokemon hit the ground, the shell landing upside down. The Torkoal popped his head and legs out, dizzy and confused: a perfect opening. Mike smiled.
"Don't stop! Hit him with a Brick Break! Heehee! QUICK!" The Pokemon complied, and brought a glowing fist right onto the Torkoal's softer underbelly. The tortoise wailed in pain, and Mike knew this was it. He reared his arm back and raised his leg, similar to a baseball pitcher. "And here's the pitch!" His foot slammed onto the ground. "And he let's it f-"
CRAAACCHK!
All Mike had the chance to register after hearing that sound was a sinking feeling in his stomach and Napalm racing towards him at top speed. Strange, he seemed to be going backwards...
The world around him was spinning as he tumbled down the inside of the volcano, his body dashed against the rocks. It was silent. No screams, no laughter, nothing. It felt like he was going to fall forever. When he had finally landed, he couldn't feel the rest of his body. Hell, he wasn't even sure that he had anything left. But the strangest thing was, it didn't hurt anymore. For once in a long time, he felt peaceful. He wasn't thinking about Milo, or Flannery, or his Pokemon duties. He was just there, bloodied and battered, at the lowest pit of Mt. Ember, with a smile on his face. You know, if this is what dying really feels like...maybe it's not so bad. He thought as his already blurred vision began to darken. He coughed up a bit of blood, forced out one last chuckle, and closed his eyes...
---
"I'll see you around Kass!" Sasha looked around for only a second before spotting a very professional (and very beautiful) young woman who just had to be said reporter. She had the looks for it, that's for sure. The girl felt a small wave of jealously wash over herself as she looked at the reporter. She got to travel the world, be on camera all the time, be famous. That's what she wanted! Just the thought of her posted on billboards and commercials all over the world, it made her knees quake. But, now was not the time to act like an amateur. She had lessons, dammit! Resetting her posture to that of an elegant young lady, she approached the news woman, turning heads along the way. "Excuse-moi mademoiselle." she said in a soft and lady-like voice. "I hear you are from z'ee local news, and z'at were interviewing Pokemon trainers. If you aren't too busy, I would be more z'hen happy to answer some questions."

Having now been completely ignored by Sasha Mitsu breathed a deep sigh of relief. She didn't want to be stuck in a bathing suit like the pink haired girl and Kasiya. It was too early for that. Having swiftly walked away from the small group of people that were beginning to form on the deck, she realized that she didn't know where she was going or where she wanted to go for that matter. "I wonder where Kilik went," she whispered to herself, hardly realizing she had spoken the words out loud.
Suddenly she shook her head angrily. Why did she care so much? She was being as clingy as a Tangela. I'll. . . I'll just go do something else. Mitsu soon found herself on the side of the ship hanging over the railing once more. The sea breeze was lovely, salty and cool just like she'd remembered. Something about it always made me feel so calm. Mitsu unhooked a Pokeball from her belt, staring at it placidly. It was Nightmare's Pokeball. "I need to think of a new name for you buddy. And I promise I'll give you a good swim sometime soon, okay?" She clipped the Pokeball back into place, smiling.
It reminded her of the past, when he had just evolved. When Mike had been so protective of her, afraid the gentle sea serpent would have lashed out against her. But no. It was not time to be nostalgic. Such reminiscence only lead to heartache. For now it was best to forget the past, both happy and sad memories. The past was what made you who you are, but that was gone. She was heading into a great unknown, and she'd be a new person. Not weak, not sad, no, none of that. Mitsu was determined to change herself in Sinnoh, she'd make it happen, she'd forget.
Her hands stung with the feeling of icy cool as she removed her hands from the railing, they'd been surprisingly cold for the sunshine beating down upon them. Maybe they hadn't soaked up enough rays yet. "Let's see the inside," she said, marching through one of the doors leading into the yellow lit interior. The inside of the ship was just as magnificent as the outside: luxuriously decorated, large and roomy despite being packed with people, and with a sense of loftiness that just made the whole ship feel almost too good for her, as if she should have paid a fortune to just be standing in the plush carpet that she was treading on.
A bit further in Mitsu stumbled upon a large group, it was especially nosiy here, as if there was a war being waged. Her guess was close, it wasn't a war but a Pokemon battle. Having pushed and excused her way through the crowd she managed to reach the front row. Looking down onto the arena she noticed two people who looked very familiar. It was Robin and Kilik! She'd just missed the last battle, though things looked far from being finished. "Of course this is where he'd be," she chuckled anticipating the next battle.

As Nero ran with his Meowth in his arms, he tripped over a stone embedded in the ground.
" Crap... Ugh... Why do I always trip at the wrong times... It's not funny right now... " He mumbled and stood back up. As he did, the cries and caws of the Pidgeotto echoed through the trees, sounding like it was coming from everywhere and nowhere in particular at the same time. Nero nervously scanned the area, trying desperately to find a way out, and quick. " Come on... Come on...! Where do I go...? " he hissed, and ran to what he supposed was East... As he ran, he could see that shadow approaching him, and the caw cried out fiercely. " Daaaa! No! Get away from me! WhyamIhavingsuchabaddayyyyyy!?! " Tripping over more branches and roots, he began to curse trees for ever evolving... ' Why do we need these stupid things again..? '
As Nero ran, he began to see a big, bustling city in the distance... ' I gotta make it to that city... I just gotta! '
Nero ran furiously, scraping himself on branches and jumping from cliffs until he came to the city of Jubilife. He stumbled out from the bushes, scratched and a bit bloody, because of random bushes and ofcourse, the trips and falls. Oh, let's not forget the angry Pidgeotto that attacked him and Clooney. " ...Poke...mon... Cen...ter... Where is... the... dang thing... " He huffed, stumbling around the city like a drunken hobo...

Sam was frustrated with Star for being a lazy bum. But she tried to use it to her advantage.
"Star, use Mud Shot!" Star lazily opened one eye, then sighed and stood. She was in a battle after all. She looked for her opponent in the sandstorm, and by pure chance saw it standing very still directly ahead of her.
"Piece of cake..." Star said to herself. She gathered a very large stream of mud and shot it at the Land Shark pokemon. It was so confident in it's invisibility that it didn't see it coming, and was hit directly in the stomach. It slid backwards about 8 feet, and struggled to it's feet. But once it was up it didn't seem any worse for wear, if maybe a little bogged down by the mud dripping off it's body.
"Gina, use Take Down!" The Gible nodded, and sped forward.
"Star, get out of the way!" Star had lost track of the Gible, and couldn't see from which direction it was coming. As a result, she stepped tentatively into the Gible's path, who knocked into her side and brought her down to the ground. The Gible flinched with recoil damage, though it didn't seem like much. Sam took that to mean Star wasn't seriously injured. "Star, use Bite!" Star, struggling against the Gible that was laying on it's back acrost her, opened her mouth wide and bit the fin of the Gible. It yelped with pain, and struggled away, with Star still clamping down on the fin.
"Gina! Oh dear...Use Dragon Rage!" The Gible flipped over onto it's stomach, it's fin now almost bent in half with Star biting it. It tried to aim at Star, but it was fairly difficult. Regardless, the small blue balls of flame that came from it's mouth hurt greatly when they hit Star's skin.
'With only a few hits like that, this could be over very quickly...' Sam thought as she saw Star whimper with pain, though she still held a death grip on the Gible's fin. "Star, I want you to use Water Gun!" Star gathered the water in her mouth first, then spit the Gible out with a torrent of water to follow. Sam sighed as she noticed there was no glow surrounding Star yet. 'At least her ability has yet to kick in.' She flinched again as the sand bit into her skin. 'How long does this damn storm last?'
"Gina, use Sand Tomb!" The Gible, still nursing it's injured fin, spun around quickly creating a whirlwind of sand within the storm. It quickly enveloped Star, doing very little damage at first, but Sam noticed the sandstorm seemed to hurt her now.

Eztli joyfully walked along to the exit to Route 15. Although she didn't want to backtrack, this was the only exit available to her. She was sorry she didn't get to spend more time in her hometown, especially sorry she was not able to visit the Safari Zone that was there, but she figured it was for the best under the circumstances. Her joyful demeanor faltered for a moment at the thought of her family, but she quickly shook it away. It was only counter-productive to her health and happiness. But still...it nagged at her. She tried to ignore it as best as possible, but it just wasn't going away. She sighed, and knew the only way to let it rest was to meditate. Unfortunately the Ilex Forest was very far away at this point, and the open grassy areas where pokemon were sure to be was not a good substitute. But it would have to do. She quickly found a secluded spot, near a few sturdy trees, and let Xipil and Zolin out. With her back to the tree as she settled in, she told them,
"Watch out for me okay? If something comes to disturb me, signal." They both nodded, Zolin apparently willing to go along with anything his new master said, and started patrolling. Eztli smiled, and crossed her legs. She breathed deeply several times, focusing on an image of a lily, one of her favorite flowers. 'Now why...why am I so upset?' The answer came quickly. 'Because my family rejected me. One of my worst fears...realized.' It upset her, but she tried to reason it out. 'Through no fault of my own, their lives were turned upside down, and they are suffering. They need someone to blame it on, and they chose me because I was a distant memory. My coming just brought it home, and they didn't know how to handle. Well, my grandfather didn't know how to handle it. Mix and Grandma accepted me...Yes, they knew it wasn't my fault.' The thought brought her a calm and happiness. 'You cannot be liked by everyone. It just so happens that one of those people is my grandfather. But that is alright, because the love of mi herman y mi abuela makes it more the bearable.' A wave of calm washed over her, and her discomfort left her. A smile crossed her lips. There...that should clear things up. 'Thank you,' she said to the being of the Ilex Forest. A shriek pierced the quiet and calm. Eztli's eyes snapped open, and she stood quickly. Xipil had cried out for some reason...where was she? Eztli scanned the open area. She saw Zolin huddled on the ground about 20 yards from her. She ran to make sure he was okay. He was crying, the skull on his head rattling.
"Cuuuu......boooooonnnneee!" He whined hollowly. Eztli scooped him up, and comforted him. He tried to struggle away, his anti-socialness kicking in, but eventually he gave in. Something had frightened him.
"Zolin, where is Xipil? What happened?" The little Cubone pointed off towards a maze of fences north of them.
"She ran off. She saw a Pokemon, and for some reason she chased it. I don't know why." Zolin scrambled out of Eztli's arms, and sat with his back to her. Eztli recalled him, and then ran for the fence maze.

Let me take you on a helter skelter, rickity ride across the tracks of a young girl's quest for life. You would think that, by living, she already had life -- and that's what she thought too -- but no, she had been living a quiet mold of life, a mold of this is right and this is wrong and this is the ultimate goal. A shame she was never told what the ultimate goal was, and a greater shame that this ultimate goal probably does not exist! Nevertheless, this lends itself to where Mary-Anne is now; goalless, lost, dancing lightly over the world's strange quirks and inexplicable oddities, across her hopeless desires.
Somehow Mary-Anne had found herself in the company of a certain wild-eyed young man named Neal Cassady and the fashionista Jun Fierce, an odd combination indeed. They were somewhat frightening in a sense, totally far out from what she was accustomed to, from what she had experienced prior; Neal was simply tremendously excited with life, which led to an eager and reckless kind of madness -- not to be confused with insanity -- and Jun was demanding and devious and could make anything possible. What the hell, she thought, life was this short and she had no goal and destination, why not tag along with these flashy souls?
How she had fallen into this company she wasn't quite sure. But she fell in smoothly somehow, the calm, quiet, and often forgettable one within the mad adventures of Neal and Jun. To be more accurate, it was Neal who was brought upon the eager wildness, Neal who was here, there, and everywhere, who never walked quickly but ran wildly forward with his head thrown forward and his heels kicked backwards, whose eyes raged for something to investigate, to do, something as a fix -- for he did like to experiment with foreign substances, ones that clouded his eyes -- who never stopped and never settled, only nodded ecstatically and shouting, "Yes! Yes! God, yes!" and other such lively things that Mary-Anne somehow felt free and wonderfully uninhibited. Neal was tall, lanky, a sandy-blonde, nervous-looking for all his unnecessary movement, highly suspect from a police officer's point of view and utterly unpredictable. Neal was a wildfire, and like moths Mary-Anne and Jun were drawn to him, aware that he'd burn them without a thought or care in the world.
Neal, in Jun, saw a beautiful sort of passion -- seen only when he was fascinated by his work of beautifying the ugly world -- that was hidden behind his typical prudence, and loved to pester him to draw it out; he wanted to muss out that perfectly done hair, to tear his designer Prada coat. They had a stormy sort of relationship, with Jun mostly attempting to cast Neal aside yet unable to avert his eyes. Neal, in Mary-Anne, saw a fertile ground to plant some chaos in, some wildness. He knew that she had been sheltered her whole life. But she was breaking out from her shell now, if just slowly so, just slowly... He wanted his mark on her, so that she would one day rise alongside him and laugh at the air.
But enough of the abstract. Here Jun was, cutting Mary-Anne's hair into a new, edgy asymmetrical bob; she was currently his model and his muse, much to Demi's (Jun's Jynx) jealousy. There was something in her crystalline, deep set eyes, her slightly freckled, pale and ghastly face, her dark, dark, tangled locks (for her hair had been dyed black, now), her angular shoulders that drove Jun ecstatic with ideas for high-end fashion. Neal stood by, half interested and half bored. "Look at all the beautiful you can find in ugly!" he suddenly cackled, abruptly straddling Mary-Anne's lap and carressing the collar bones that poked out from her slouchy sweater. Jun tsked angrily when he twitched and missed a cut due to Neal's interference -- the young man giggled then and full on planted himself on Jun's lips, much to the latter's reluctant disapproval. As much as Jun was disgusted by Neal's willful crudeness, a part of him resonated with it, and as confused about it as he was he could not deny a strange sort of desire. Jun soon broke away, furious, and threw his scissors in his bag. "Done," he spat in M.A.'s direction, and she stood up abruptly. It was time to find the next town; why? The formal excuse was to find Diego's master (if you recall the Smeargle's past history; if not, it's unimportant). The true excuse, there was no real reason, they were just out on the road to experience it all.
Daemyn sat at Mary-Anne's feet, watching his mistress and seeing the change in her appearance. He wasn't sure if it was good, or bad; there was a fundamental shift happening, he could see, and there wasn't much he could do about it. All he could conclude was that all people were simply so strange in their most honest forms, but just like M.A., he was merely along for the ride. But this was only the start, mind. More intriguing horizons ensue.

Kokoro quickly began to focus. She needed to pry off that light screen before the Ledyba got in any more hits. Likewise, the Ledyba was determined to comet punch the poor little fire mouse into another galaxy before it could be finished off. Reaching out with her mind, Kokoro quickly shot off her golden tendrils of energy at the bug. Though the smoke was somewhat clear by this point, the glowing energy gave off a mysterious aura as it enveloped the bug. The Ledyba struggled through the pressure to land three solid smacks into Kokoro before retreating.
Despite the pain, the cyndaquil continued to pry. First the top of the shield, then the bottom, back to the left side... There had to be a weak spot somewhere and she would find it. Then like a walnut in a nutcracker, she would rip that barrier straight off and proceed to burn that stupid insect to a crisp! She didn't know why bug types annoyed her, but for whatever reason, there was enmity between her and this ladybug.
"Another Comet Punch!" The man shouted to his pokemon as it continued to struggle against the mental tendrils. The bug buzzed back around for another shot but this time it was too much of a strain to maintain the barrier and fly and use another attack. Yes, Claire thought as she saw the golden barrier around the bug rip off and fade into the sky. Kokoro smiled but after her own strain she couldn't avoid another round of hits as the Ledyba managed to pull off three more solid attacks.
"All right, Kokoro! Let's finish it with another Ember!" Claire shouted as she smiled to herself. Nodding in agreement, Kokoro took aim at the bug as it sporadically flied in an attempt to throw off her aim. Luckily, all their training paid off as the fire mouse managed to score a direct hit and the bug crashed into the ground in a semi-flaming heap. A satisfying victory!
"Dangit!" The man cried as he recalled his fallen Pokemon. "You better get out of here if you know what's good for you, kid! And stay away from Sprout Tower!" He shouted as he turned to run away. "Not so fast!" Claire exclaimed as she saw him begin to move. The young blonde quickly gave chase, recalling Kokoro, as the man weaved through the woods. Despite her decent physical condition, the complexity and density of the woods allowed the strange man to escape into a small break in the outer wall that surrounded the tower. What the heck is going on here? Claire thought to herself. There's no way they would let this place become so run down. Though everything looked clear from her position, Claire paused as the Sprout Tower loomed overhead.
"I'm going to see what's up here." Claire remembered that the tower was attacked in the past by some criminal organization. What if the group came back and was doing something terrible to the sacred site? Though it didn't involve her directly, Claire felt that it was too similar to what happened to her family in Ecruteak. And if there was anything she could do to help, she would do it.

"GODDAMN!" a voice, presumably the driver of the train, boomed as if it were being magnified by two thousandy billion speakers. The glasses in the tray on the sturdy wooden table before her rattled as if a real earthquake was in progress. Suddenly - and without warning - the train lurched forward, knocking the table over as if it were a leaf in a gale storm. The glasses hit the floor, shattering and crunching underneath the weight of the heavy table. The children Mia had been entertaining had been long gone by now, having left the train two stops ago. But that fact right now was of little consequence. The present situation was quickly becoming a dire one.
The wheels screeched, brilliant orange and red sparks jumped from the colliding metal as the wheels and the tracks scraped against one another in a mad battle to stop the metal behemoth's momentum, panic began to set in. Screams, shrieks, yelps, all the good old classics they had in the old western films when a train would be hit by bandits were in full motion.
OHMYGOSH. Bandits would be sooooo cool though, right, right? With their bandanna masks and spiky boots. "Shoot Mia, focus!" she scolded herself harshly, but giggling a mere moment later. Who was she kidding? She couldn't be that serious. If the world was about to explode she couldn't be that serious. She didn't do serious. But that's another story, for another time. Like maybe tomorrow!
Focus! Focus! FOOOOCUS! she mentally screamed at herself, mashing her fists into both sides of her head, doing some decent damage if she could say so herself. She released Jello. She needed to at least focus for once in her life, this could be interesting. It was time to play hero!
Shortly preceding her inner monologue the train had finally hit it's last stop, a long drawn out groan echoing from the wheels underneath. Steam released from some part of it's inner workings, making the whole mechanical beast seem like it was sighing with relief. Smoke filled the air, clouding the vision from the windows before her. "It was silent, smoke was fresh in the air, and the heroine stood alone," she dramatized. Now to solve this mystery!

But first things first! If the our three hapless souls were going to trek across Sinnoh in an impetuous search for who knows what, they would need foodstuffs and lifestuffs, all the important things to keep the vessel alive. Without a vessel the mind would soar like a predatory bird without a falconer, up, up, up and away! Or maybe down down and away. But I digress.
Jun have every intention to hit the local supermarket, a cute, fresh looking thing filled with vibrant greens and reds and the neat wives of miners (they were in Oreburgh currently) and go organic with everything, but Mary-Anne suggested they hit the local Costco instead. The idea of wholesale utterly frightened Jun. The idea of Neal in a wholesale building with shopping carts galore terrified Jun. But with the vote two to one and Neal skidding down the streets with Mary-Anne ghosting behind him, he didn't have much of a choice, now, did he? If all else failed and Neal got kicked out, he could always pretend he didn't know him, which was what he did oftentimes anyways.
So they were on the search for bread, M.A. sitting in a shopping cart cross-legged like a child and Neal flinging his legs backwards wildly, sending the cart flying haphazardly down the aisles. Jun (and his quiet Jynx and side-kick, Demi) timidly wandered through the masses of people and Pokemon. His disgust for wholesale soon faded, however, when he found something just about amazing -- "Mary-Anne! Oh my god this electric razor is heaven, and I have been looking for it everywhere! Three electric blades and a guard as smooth as velvet. It'll get me as smooth as a baby's bottom, aaaaah," he said, nuzzling his cheek against Neal's shoulder (for Jun is only 5'8 or so, if you recall). Neal grinned wolfishly and bit his ear, to which Jun recoiled in surprise and blushed. He wasn't sure if he enjoyed that or was absolutely relieved that, in the maze of wholesale customers, that no one had seen.
"This place is amazing! Diapers to coffins. You could shop here from birth to death," Jun breathed. "Oh my god these satin bath robes are so cheap! And look, they come three-to-a-pack, Mary-Anne! You, I, and Demi could match like the Sex and the City Girls. I want the seafoam colored one," Jun gaped, clutching everything and throwing it all into the cart alongside her. She was drowning, absolutely drowning in everything from boxes of toothpaste, economy-sized tissue boxes, and multi-packs of mascara.
And then there was Neal, now calmly perched on a side of the cart, eyes darting madly from one person to another, just analyzing them all. It appeared like he was having revelations about the world, but he just wasn't going to share them... Mary-Anne was envious, wished she was in his head. What wild things were flying in there, she couldn't fathom. Surely they were more interesting than what she had in her mediocre, everyday-Jane brain.
And then they were kicked out due to Neal's drinking half a bottle of wine while in store, without paying, and Jun was left to sulk without any of the unnecessary items he had piled up in his cart. But no matter. The road was waiting! (And Neal was drunk. Or maybe he wasn't. It was always hard to tell.)

Tales of heroics, of wonder, and amazement would be told for age after the so called train incident. The story would be told far and wide, over many lands filled with many people, generation after generation. The story of a girl and her Tangela, who had risked their very lives in the pursuit of two bandits on a rickety old train, still chugging along on ancient steam power. There were battles, gun shots, innocent cries of damsel's in distress. Large, full dresses made of calico, decorated with floral prints, leather boots with spurs, cowboy hats.
What else were there back in those old western films? Oh yeah! Saloons! But wait. . .those didn't belong on trains, darn. Wait, wait. A train? What train? She wasn't on a train, she was in the desert, with tumble weeds blowing around, with spiny cacti sprinkled across the barren wasteland. There were the bandits across from her, slow music played quietly in the background. Her hands twitched on either side of her belt, hovering over two Pokeballs.
BANG! BANG! SCREEEECHHH. HOOOOOOOOT.
"Uwaaaaah?" Mia cried rubbing her stomach. It hurt now that she leaped forward right into the darn thing. After reality hit her full on her face contorted from a dazed smile into a saddening frown. "AWWWW. It was just a dream?" she whined, quite disappointed that she had not been the savior of the train after all. Well. At least she was here . . . in the big city. . . with people she didn't know. . . "Pokemon Center!" Mia screamed feeling a bit overwhelmed with her new surroundings and attracting a bit of unwanted stares in the process. she quickly fled for the nearest red roofed building she could find. Thank goodness they all looked the same!

Kasiya shifted in her seat a bit, trying to get more comfy. These odd lounging chairs had never been her favourite thing to sit in, but she didn't really have much choice at this point. She looked around as Sasha headed off to be interviewed, waving at her pink-haired friend in time to see a familiar girl with purple hair walking away at a quick pace - Mitsu. Kasiya sighed, and closed her eyes. The last few days had been so rough on everyone, especially the day before last, and she knew that it had deeply affected Mitsu, as well. So many angry words had been exchanged, and so many tears shed, and once again that feeling of helplessness began to spread through her, causing her to tremble slightly. Nothing she could have done would have stopped the Rockets' attack, and she hated herself for it. She couldn't protect her friends. She'd been unable to protect her own Pokemon, and now Shocker was paying the price for that. She sighed heavily and opened her eyes, though by this time Mitsu was long gone. Perhaps once they reached Sinnoh she'd be able to reconnect with her. After all, Mitsu had been one of the first people she'd befriended after starting her career as a Pokemon trainer, and the last thing she wanted was to let that friendship drift away.
Rosemary raised her head as she felt her trainer shake a little, her eyes filled with concern. Though she didn't understand completely, she knew that her trainer was sad, even though she tried to help it, and the Bayleef couldn't help but feel sad too. She glanced over at the Marshtomp, happily playing in the pool, and frowned a little. Maybe if she had been stronger she could have done something to help Kasiya, though now that she thought about it, she really didn't get to battle all that much. Granted, she wasn't overly fond of battling, but it was the principle of the thing. Did Kasiya think she was weak? Too timid for battle? She continued watching Levi play in the water, the unusual feeling of envy creeping through her body. The more she thought of it, the more she realized that Kasiya had called upon the Marshtomp for battle more often, and the others too. There had been a point when she was tougher than Levi, but the Water/Ground-type had quickly surpassed her. An uncharacteristic frown formed on the Bayleef's face as an envious jolt surged through her body. She really wanted to battle! She wanted to prove that she was just as tough as Levi, and that Kasiya could rely on her for battle, too!
The Bayleef growled loudly and jumped to her feet, overturning the char she'd been resting on. Startled, Kasiya sat up, confused by the Bayleef's sudden attitude shift. "What's the matter, Rosemary?" she asked. Levi, wondering what was up with her friend and teammate, climbed out of the pool and began to amble over. Rosemary spun to face the Marshtomp, sparing only a single second to glare at Levi before she fired off a single Razor Leaf as a warning. Levi hadn't expected to be attacked by the normally gentle Bayleef, but her reflexes were sharp and she managed to sidestep it, more confused than anything else. "Whoa, wait a minute, don't attack Levi," Kasiya said, her tone on the verge of a scolding one. "What's the matter with you?"
=-=-=-=-= Cynthia looked on as Dante planned how he would fight the massive Wailord, nodding in agreement when she saw that he'd opted to send out two Pokemon instead of one. She smiled at the sight of the Porygon2 and the Duskull, wondering if Dante was aware of their ability to evolve while also agreeing with his choices: Pokemon that could levitate over the water had a bit of an advantage. Hoping that the younger trainer had it all under control she knelt down beside the unconscious Heracross, gently placing her hand on the Pokemon's head. "You'll be all right," she said softly, setting her bag down on the ground and opening it. "I've got just the thing for you, if I can find it. I know it's in here somewhere," she murmured, rummaging around inside her bag. She'd just restocked her medicine supply beforehand so she knew she had at least a few Revives to spare.
((Hey Melph you don't have to wait for Cynthia to keep posting. Just sayin'.))

Nitro and Portabello, who had been watching the fight from the cavern's maw, ran after Napalm, who had jumped down the side of the volcano after their fallen master.
Thinking this an opportunity for a little payback, the Torkoal took aim at the Magmar as he turned his back and ran. "KOAL!" he reared back and launched a fireball at the Spitfire Pokemon. Big mistake. Nitro's eyes lit up in rage. With frightening speed fueled by unparalleled anger, Nitro flew in front of the fireball and blocked it with his wing. He stared down the Torkoal, who all too suddenly realized the error of his ways. But it was too late. With a horrific roar the Charizard caught up to the now retreating Torkoal, raised him up by the stomach and smashed him upside down into the rock, stomping on his stomach a few times to make sure he didn't move. After making sure the Pokemon was properly thrashed, Nitro then made his way over to the edge and glided down to meet up with the others.
The three Pokemon looked down at their beaten trainer. His body was completely covered in scrapes, cuts and various other wounds. His clothes were shredded and blood was all but pouring out from him.
"What do we do?!" Nitro asked, his voice full of fear. I-I don't know! "We've got to get him out of here somehow!" Napalm yelled. I know that! Portabello felt an emptiness in his head. The usual feedback from his master's constant mental activity was gone. The silence was terrifying. Master! He cried out. The Breloom reached to pick him up, but he was afraid of hurting him further. "He's smiling! That's good right? He always has a smile on when he sleeps! Aside from Milo, smiles usually mean everything's okay!"
After a few more minutes of panicking, a wave of silence washed over the Pokemon. His wounds were severe, rocks had cut deep into his body. Add that onto the list of previous injuries he'd sustained over the past few days...
One by one they all came to the same realization.
Nitro broke the silence. "He's...gone, isn't he?" Portabello merely dipped his head in sadness, and dropped to one knee beside his master. Napalm slammed his eyes shut and turned away. Nitro let loose a terribly loud roar and smashed open a nearby rock, then proceeded to destroy the area around him in a sorrowed rage. The flame on his tail burned bright enough to illuminate the entire cavern. Napalm turned and knelt beside the Breloom. "What are we going to do?" His voice was shaky. I'm staying with him. Portabello replied without hesitation. "Staying?" Yes. Staying. My loyalty to my master remains in both life...and death. I shall not leave his side. The Breloom spoke with the same certainty he always had. I will protect him. Napalm couldn't think of a way to respond. He never thought anything like this would happen. He looked over at Nitro. You don't even need to ask. Portabello said. Just let him be. Nitro isn't leaving either. The Magmar looked down at Mike on more time. He looked...happy. Even through the cuts and bruises and blood, it was still his trainer. It brought a smile to the Pokemon's face. "I'm staying too." Portabello smiled.
A loud shriek disrupted the two Pokemon's discussion. It sounded like it came from outside, above the volcacno. There was another, louder noise. The Pokemon all stood up and surrounded Mike's body. "What is that?" Napalm asked the other two. I'm not sure. Portabello replied, concerned. "Whatever it is, it better not try anything funny, I am not even remotely in the mood for it."
There was a sudden blinding explosion before the three Pokemon that shook the entire cavern. Dust and debris flew in all directions, and when it settled, a magnificent, yet similarly frightening sight stood before them. Their eyes widened.
Oh my goodness!
 Wild Moltres appeared!

Floating half in and half out of the boat Kenny peered at the large pokemon for a second, ok it was much bigger then he thought it would be! Still his trainer did have a point, if the ship went down then he would be stuck here in the middle of the ocean! With that thought in mind Kenny lifted his ghostly arms up and focused his energy into his new power. Around him blue lights started to flare up in an eerie sort of way, all right now that the lights were up Kenny just had to figure out how to hit the huge thing with them! If he could frown with his mask he would be doing so.
While Kenny was trying to figure out how to make Wil-O-Wisp work Dante and Turn A were up top trying to keep the huge Wailord distracted. "Turn A try to hit it with your Signal Beam!" Dante ordered leaning over the rail and watching Turn A keep up with the large pokemon. The Virtual pokemon would have nodded if he had more of a personality. Instead he calculated the best place to hit the other before firing off a blue and red blast right in the middle of the Wailords head.
It turned out that the Wailord didn't really like getting hit as it let out a loud roar as it turned its gaze up at Turn A. That little flying pokemon had hit him? This really wasn't a good day, first he got pulled up to the surface now some thing was attacking him. The huge pokemon was really getting upset now. Luckily the small flying pokemon was right above him. It's huge mouth turned into a grin as it pushed a bunch of water out of its spout and hit the Porygon in a very impressive Water Spout. Just as he was watching the other pokemon get hit the large whale was surrounded by eerie looking blue flames. Never having seen those kinds of things before the Wailord reached out a large flipper to touch one. That turned out to be a bad idea as the moment he touched it all the blue flames seemed to home in on him and smash into him causing some pretty painful looking burns.
It seemed like Kenny had gotten his Wil-O-Wisp to start working. That would provide a pretty good distraction while Turn A did its best to stay afloat after such a powerful attack. On this side Dante watched somewhat worried as Turn A used Recover on its self to try to take some of the massive damage that had just been done to it. It seemed like size was a huge advantage in this case since all of this pokemon's attacks seemed to have extra power because of it!
Behind them Hera laid out cold on the ground while Cynthia rummaged through her bag. Eventually the beautiful champion found her revive and the cool crystal dissolved upon touching the fallen pokemon. The single horn pokemon seemed to groan in pain before sitting up swiftly and blinking a few times. What had just happened? The last thing she remembered was protecting her trainer from the huge water blast. Looking over she spotted Cynthia and gave her a curious look, did that lady make her come back?

The gigantic Pokemon spread its wings. Wondrous crimson flames shot out in all directions as it let out a loud cry. It lowered its head and stared past the three Pokemon. It was looking at Mike.
Nitro wasn't willing to risk it. "Not gonna happen, buddy!" With a flap of his wings, the Charizard flew towards the flaming bird. He bared his fans and raised his hand to strike.
There was a loud clap, like thunder, and soon after, Nitro was on the ground; out cold.
Portabello tightened his defensive stance. He barely saw the creature move, but in seconds he took out Nitro: easily Mike's most powerful Pokemon. This was not good. He inched closer to his fallen master. Napalm too, moved closer, his eyes trained on the bird.
You may lower your guard, the bird said calmly. I assure you I mean you no harm. It lowered its wings. I am simply here to right a great wrong that has happened.
A great wrong, do you mean? Portabello asked. The bird merely nodded in the direction of the boy. The Breloom was confused. Surely, his master's death had dealt the Pokemon a great wound, but in the larger picture, both he and his master were but people and Pokemon. What great wrong do you speak of?
That one suffered from a curse of conscience. I have been watching him for many years. He has done so many things under the notion that he would be doing this world some good, but life has a way of tipping the scales against him. I feel it a great tragedy that he die before he had a chance for redemption.
"But Mike had all but given up," Napalm interjected. "He sealed himself away in this volcano-"
So that he would not harm another person. Deep beneath his clouded mind lies a sound heart. A heart not without its faults, but one that is strong none-the-less.
What makes my master so special? Why would he be given a second chance among all those in the world who have died like him?
I have helped out many humans and Pokemon alike in all my years. I am willing to provide this poor soul with another chance; provided he uses this opportunity to right all that he has wronged.
I assure you, my master will find a way to redeem himself.
I believe that to be so. All he needs is someone to help him back to his feet.
"So you're just going to bring him back? You can do that?"
I am a phoenix, my powers are not limited to matters of life and death. The boy will be revived, but be warned. There will be a price. A limitation. Something he will carry for the rest of his life. But as I have watched this one for many years, I think it is something he will be able to overcome. He may even enjoy it.
The bird once again raised his wings wrapping in scarlet flames, and loosed a stream of fire towards the group. The two Pokemon recoiled, but soon found the fire did not harm them. It flowed more like the wind than a roaring wildfire. The flames passed through them, and they felt their wounds and fatigue disappear. Mike's body became engulfed by the flames, which burned away his injuries like they were but paper.
I have merely set the stage. It is up to him to do the rest. Seek you out the man named Blaine from Cinnabar Island. With that, the bird vanished in a wave of fire; leaving a single red feather in its wake.
Both the Breloom and the Magmar stood there in silence, unsure if what they had just seen was real or not. A familiar sound from behind them soon proved that the fateful encounter was all too real.

The speechless boy was quickly forgotten as the blue-haired boy, Eraku, had found a far more suitable subject for interview. Mai gave a great (fake) smile as the pink-haired girl made her way over, seemingly uncertain at first but she quickly regained her composure. Mai had not yet had the pleasure of meeting Ms Sasha Beauchamp, but that would soon be history. "Oh my!" she said, easily slipping back into her falsified persona. "I can see the story now! A young and beautiful girl adopting the harsh life of a Pokemon trainer when she could have easily been a supermodel or a star actress! Darling, you must tell me all about yourself," she gushed, pointing a slender arm at her cameraman to signal him to start filming. "Let's start with where you are from, and what made you want to become a trainer." The Rocket's pen flashed across the notepad she held as she prepared to take notes, her icy blue eyes carefully scanning the smallish crowd around them. It's not surprising to see that those children are spending less time with each other, she thought, continuing her recon though she paid enough attention to Sasha to know what the girl was talking about. "And your Pokemon, you must tell us all about them, as well." Not a lot was known about the Beauchamp girl, other than the fact that her family was notoriously wealthy and practically nobility. Her abilities as a trainer were largely unknown to the Rocket databank as well, though that too would soon be remedied.
=-=-=-=-= "Hmm, that was easier than I thought it would be," Eliza mused quietly to herself, toying with the end of her long, red braid. Her two Pokemon and ceased their attacks and were both watching with wide eyes as the helpless Kakuna's body began to shine with a brilliant white light.
It took a moment for both Jaeshan and Squirtle to realize what was going on, and trainer and Pokemon looked on in awe as the shell gave off a loud cracking sound, and the Pokemon encased inside was able to break free. Pushing himself back, the newly evolved Beedrill stretched his arms, his wings already generating a loud buzzing noise. He nodded at the sight of the two very sharp and highly venomous stingers that were now his arms, and with a quick look back to Jaeshan, it nodded, ready to give its new form a try. "Wow, Beedrill," Jaeshan murmured, a lopsided grin etched onto his face. Beedrill's evolution was a lot like Butterfree's had been, and though he'd witnessed it many times now, Jaeshan knew he would never grow tired of seeing a Pokemon evolve. It was one of the most amazing things he'd ever seen.
He'd also forgotten that he was currently in a battle, and he was surprised when the Poison Bee Pokemon suddenly sped forward, stingers raised in anticipation. Before Squirtle or either of the opposing Pokemon could react, Beedrill had lashed out with a vicious Fury Attack, the target of his assault being the pesky Aipom that had so eagerly attacked him in the previous rounds. This spurred the Aipom back into action as well, and it didn't hesitate to fight back with a Scratch attack, which the bee was unable to avoid thanks to his reckless attack.
Squirtle and the Chikorita were both looking at their teammates, both surprised that the two had jumped back into the fight so quickly. They exchanged glances and grinned a bit before they both charged forward, each using Tackle as directed by their trainers.

((Um I goofed on my last post as it turns out Jaden has a Slowbro and not a Slowking....I edited it and such but yeah. Oops!)) "Ember, really?" Riza asked, though the question was obviously directed at the little Cyndaquil in her arms. Eris squeaked and nodded, looking ruefully towards Jaden's still smoldering shoe, though Crenu's comment made her bury her face in Riza's chest. "Oh, he didn't mean it like that," Riza whispered, though he did have a point. She knew that Pokemon raised by breeders could be born with special moves, but apparently Extrasensory was extra rare. Even still, she was happy that Eris had learned ember. Having a fire-type move would be quite useful.
"Extrasensory," Jaden repeated, looking at Eris a little more closely now. "That is quite the trick, I'd like to see that one. And what your other Pokemon are capable of, too." His Slowbro had taken a step forward, eying the Cyndaquil with a bit of a glimmer in his eye. Jaden shot him a quick look that said 'don't even think about it' and Slowbro backed off quickly, and instead watched Riza's other Pokemon. * * * * * They only had to crawl for a few feet before there was enough room to stand, though the cavern would have been quite dark had it not been for the light given off by the flame on the end of Genki's tail. "I suppose we should keep going," Katie suggested, brushing the dust from her knees again. 'If I had known it would be so dusty in here I wouldn't have bothered,' she thought irritably, but knew that if she were in Cara's position she would have wanted someone to stop and help her as well. "Maybe you should call for your Shinx," she added, following along Genki who was on point.
"Um, okay," Cara nodded, falling into step beside Katie. "Shinxie?" she called out in a hushed whisper, as though afraid to make any real noise. "Shinxie are you in here?" Even her steps were cautious, her shoes barely making any noise on the stone floor.
Katie rolled her eyes at Cara's bad attempt at stealth, figuring it was useless after all the noise they'd made getting in here. She remembered her last trip through the gate, and tapped the girl on the shoulder. "Be on the lookout for Zubat," she warned. "They like to swoop down at people. Oh, and watch for Geodude, too. They look like plain old rocks on the ground, and if you're not careful they can trip you up." Cara nodded, looking a little more nervous now, but she continued to call for her Pokemon, her voice getting a little louder.
