Devi sat against the door, everything numb but those memories. "They killed my fiance that day...Most women would be useless after that...Edon was everything for me." Her voice was cold, distant. She got up, sitting on the table in front of Eros. "Then I met you..." She wanted badly to take his hand in hers, but hesitated to do so. Tears still streaked her cheek. Looking up at him, often glanceing back down at the floor.

"Rebecca had been dead one hundred years, two months, five days, and ten hours. The man who killed her had been dead one hundred years, two months, five days, and three hours."
Eros opened his eyes but did not look at Devinity. Tears, red-stained tears, fell down his face.
"You followed me after I walked away. That was when I fell in love with you. I have loved you for centuries. I have been in love with you for centuries."
Still he could only whisper. It was as if he were a Wonder, whispering the secret of Life to Demon.

"I knew the moment you stood before me that I could never resist you." She looked at him, wanting to touch him badly. "That I wanted to follow you always..." Devi sighed, remembering her regret at the wedding stolen from her. "I dont know how many lycans I destroyed that night...but it was all meaningless the moment I saw you." She gently brushed a tear from his cheek, feeling vounerable in doing so.

Eros stood before her in silence. Bloody tears dripped from his chin. His face was tainted with the red rivers flowing from his emerald eyes. He had not looked at her once. He could see the faces of all his "toys", his actors. He saw himself through their eyes. They all trusted him. He was their Prince. He betrayed every last one of them. He enjoyed twisting their emotions. Yet none of them had ever claimed to hate him.
"Why? Why did you trust me. I'm not a Prince! Why don't you hate me?!"
At this point he was nearly screaming. Centuries of frustration had built to this moment. He was sobbing, whimpering every now and then.
"I am no one to trusted. No one to be loved. Why?!"
He was wringing his hands together, as if it were a nervous habit. Yet, he still did not look at her.

Devi was taken back, but sat quietly and spoke in a calm even tone. "Many cannot resist the vampire charm. But that means little to me...I see what you do not see." She dident look at him. "But if you want to know...why not ask your precious boy? He knows not what you are." A brief slip of sarcasm. She bit her tounge. "Eros...let me have the boy..." She whispered, planning her twisted plot.

Eros stopped suddenly. His eyes were wide. Tears still dripped from his face.
"Why do you want him?"
His tone had quieted to less than it was before.

"To get rid of him..." She said coldly. "Let me have him and this will go away..." She whispered. "I will take it easy if you wish...He cannot stay here. He cannot go back to the village knowing where we are...It will put us all in danger."

"No. You will not touch him. He has done absolutely nothing wrong. I have hurt all of us."
Eros looked at her for the first time. His eyes were void of all emotions. He had been drained.
"Promise me you will not harm him in any way. Please."

"Then get rid of him yourself." She said coldly, her eyes blazeing. "I cannot rest with him here. Do what you must but do not let your emotions jepordize our safty! That town would kill us if they knew how to find us!" She raised her voice only slightly.

Baylor, Yin, and Yang were all standing behind a corner, listening in on the conversation. They were still lost when they started hearing their yelling. They had quickly followed the voices and found Devi and Eros conversationizing with each other. Baylor listened in horror when Devi said someone was going to put them all in danger. Danger...? Jeoprady...? Baylor, Yin, and Yang tried their best to remain quiet, but a loud, growling sound erupted at the last second. Dammit! We've been hungry for way too long! Baylor cursed to himself.

Devi stopped suddenly, her eyes changeing to their normal calm. Her emotions seemed to change so dramaticly that it appeared there was no responce needed. She wrapped her arms around Eros' waist, her soft black hair against his chest. "Give me my Romeo. And, when he shall die, take him and cut him out in little stars, and he will make the face of heaven so fine that all the world will be in love with night And pay no worship to the garish sun." She whispered to him. "You give me the blessed name of Juliet do you not? Yet her fate seems far fairer than mine. Juliet, though young and foolish, had her wedding and her wedding night too. She had her lover hold her, be devoted to her. Yet it seems I cannot have this simple wish." She held him tighter against her. "Tell me you love me now and I will never doubt that you do. Ask for me and I will be yours. But do not let me long for you always with only sorrow as my companion. I've loved you since that day, only you. You ask what I see within you that makes me long for you. I will tell you now. Eros, my love, you are a brightly wrapped package. We are compeled to unwrap the mystery of what you contain layer by layer, but the paper gets darker, duller, the excitement turns to fear. They stop, afraid of whats inside of you, but I did not. Within you, beyond the beautiful charming wrapping, is a gem that shines and sparkles with a perfect luminesence. Pure, and flawless. My darling I feel we are so far apart even now as I hold you. These flaws, these events, they chip away at you and I. I long for you...even when I should not. I, in my lovesick mind, cherish you still. Please, my darling I beg of you as a lover, as a friend, as the one who has always loved you, take the boy away from here. I dare not ask for his pain, I ask for you to protect us. Send him far away, erase those memories, anything...please." She sobbed into his chest. "I-...I love you...Please take the boy from here! Let me forget him! Let me forget what has happend!" Her grip so tight around his chest it almost hurt. "Do this for me and I will be ever devoted to you! Please!" She simply sobbed into his chest for long moments, her face pressed against him. Finally, she whispered "For never was a story of more woe, than this of Juliet and her Romeo..." She looked up into his eyes for the first time during her pleading. Her eyes still filled with tears. Her heart acheing. She'd never, in all her years of immortality, felt so vounerable to anyone.

Eros said nothing. He simply held her for a few moments. He then placed a small, chaste kiss on her tearful cheek. He slowly turned, letting her go, and walked very deliberately up each step. He was eerily calm as he went, step by step down the hall. He opened the door to his room and stood beside the bed where the boy lay. He carried Lucas' sleeping form in his arms out the door, across the hallway, and down the stairs. He stopped before her, still with the sleeping boy in his possession.
Eros looked only at her, never blinking. He wanted her to understand what this truly meant. Her sacrifice was great, yet his was greater still. Without turning his gaze from hers, he wakened the boy.
"Eros? I-What's going on?"
"Ssshhh. Everything is fine." He set the boy on his own feet between them.
His face was turned to Lucas, but his eyes remained locked onto the mirrored emeralds. He wrapped his arms around the painter, giving the innocent one last reprieve. Slowly he brought his pale lips to the base of the tanned neck. A small kiss before white teeth slid neatly into the skin. He never even blinked. Tears fell from his eyes as the boy hissed and gasped in pain. He held the writhing body tighter against him.
The boy's movements slowly stopped, until he finally hung limp in the vampire's arms. Eros still continued to gaze at Devinity as he held the dead body close to himself.
"I will return his body. I will have the portrait. I-" His voice was quieter than ever. He forced the words out slowly, placing emphasis on himself.
"I will not forget him."

"I-...I never asked this of you..." She whispered so faint, so weak, it was barely heard over her light sobs. "I-....I-...." She was speechless, lost. She sat down on the table sadly...looking up at him once more. "I will wait for you...take as long as you need..." she looked at the floor, tears flowing down her cheek softly. "What have I done..." she whispered, the weight of the blame on her shoulders. She dident look at him again, burrieing her face in her hands. Her thoughts where swimming and screaming across her mind. Now all she could do was wait...

Eros turned from, as slowly and deliberately as he had betrayed Lucas. He kept to the shadows of the castle, and then under the protection of the trees as he journeyed to the small village. This visit was entirely different. Now, Sorrow and his brother, Anguish, followed him. Lucas' body had become as cold and pale as his own. He traveled up the few flights of stairs to the door. Once opened, he could see how empty the rooms looked without someone there.
He placed the body on the bed. Blonde hair still shone brightly, a perfect juxtaposition to the death that had fallen upon this boy. The Moon turned from the Sun. In the small living-room the easel stood. The portrait rested upon it, waiting to be displayed properly, for all to see. With somber movements he grapsed the canvas, wrapped an old sheet around it, and left. The poor boy would never know why he was killed, and for that Eros was thankful.

Devi lay on the couch, shivering, half asleep. Her mind battleing itself. She had her Prince, but at the cost of an innocent boy. She longed to be able to turn the guilt away. She waited sadly for him. As though he alone could make the pain stop. She held out hope that he could. Tears still streamed her face lightly, her eyes watching the gleam in the fireplace. The warmth of the fire seemed to have dissapeared. All the warmth in the room had faded the moment Eros had taken the boy. Regret stung at her over and over.
