[lol You know Dorien...he won't feel right unless someone's afraid of him. whee ]

"The shrine I showed you before.." Lina said, taking his arm, "The one where the memories of the noble vampric families lie..that is where we should talk. No one will bother us there."

--

How low my people have fallen... Dorien thought as he looked around, catching glimpses of a few elves watching him. Atleast news still spreads fast... he thought wryly, stopping near the entrance of the house where Magnolia and the queen spoke. He had a small thought of what their actions wold be, the long talk about their lives, the continual hugging and crying...but this was only because he had seen this happen so many times before. He wasn't even sure it was possible for him to actually have a family..in the sense of the word. He thought of the beings he created as offspring and nothing more, a continuation of the elvan race and not as..his children.

Then how did the elves get their sense of emotion? From his counterpart no doubt. He growled for a moment the memory of that woman. She was so aggravating..so...much like him. Could she be considered a family member?

I would rather die than know that. he thought, shaking his head of such thoughts.

The little boy appeared again. He stood near Dorien's legs and looked up at him with large green eyes. Green eyes similar to Magnolia's. He blinked once, his little round face expressionless. FInally he shoved stright white hair out of his face and walked into the house, leaving the door open for him. Magnolia's mother was passing into the hall to go towards the stairs when she looked towards the door and froze. The boy approached his mother and looked into the living room, standing equally still, but not in shock.

Magnolia stood to follow her mother then noticed her sudden stillness. And the next thing she knew she a little boy was watching her. She stared back at him, momentarily forgetting her mother. She gave him a wary smile.

The boy returned it with a thousand watt one and approached, "Sister." He pointed at her.

She blinked at him in further surprise, then finally pointed back at him, "Brother." She didn't sound so certain.

The boy ran forward and hugged her legs, grinning up at her.

Dorien looked at the mother as he stood in the hallway, his face expressionless. So this woman was the queen...Magnolia's mother. He narowed his eyes before bowing gracefully before standing still once again. The woman knew him well it seems...

As soon as he moved, she flinched as if pricked with something sharp. She watched him bow in surprise. When he'd straightened she took the skirt of her dress and dropped a low curtsie, bowing her head at the same time before straigtening as well. She looked awkward a moment before gesturing for him to enter.

Magnolia sort of waddled into view, her brother was still attached to her leg. She smiled when she saw Dorien. Then she looked at her mother, "Dorien, stop scaring my mother!" She chided gently.

Her mother looked over at her in stupified horror.

Magnolia didn't notice, of course.

He walked in soon after, glancing at the boy once agian before folding his arms, You spoke out again Magnolia... Dorien replied, looking slightly annoyed. Usually, he didn't care whether she did or didn't, but being previously annoyed had brought out some old habits.

He then looked at the queen before asking, How many of the elvan kingdoms are left in this world? He had seen enough of the degradtion of the elves fo rhim to want action to be done..even if it is by fear that makes it happen.

Magnolia gave him a taste of her own irritation but he was no longer paying attention to her. She huffed and looked down at her brother. He was watching their mother and Dorien and then he finally looked back up at Magnolia and tugged at her. Slipping past his mother and going up the steps. She paused then followed after him.

Her attention jerked back to Dorien when he'd spoke, rather mind spoke. She blinked at him, she remembered reading that he was deaf. She motioned for him to follow and went up the steps without a word.

Remus nodded and they began walking. A few of the vampires around the base gave them odd looks at Lina's legs, but no one really said anything. A short time later they stopped in front of the door to the shrine. Remus waited for Lina to clear the symbols.

Dorien raised and eyebrow at that, but followed slowly after her. Why did they want him to go upstairs? He had no need to do so and had business to attend to...far too much for him to be idle.

--

Lina took out the Asanti pendant this time and watched as the door opened, "I should have told you before about Malen...and how badly her hatred towards me really is Even now I am sure she won't forgive me for what I have done."she said as she walked inside.

Remus wanted to say something comforting, but he didn't know all the facts, and he didn't know what to say...

Her brother led her to a small room. There was a bed, a dresser, a bedside table, and a window that looked out at the rolling green hills outside. It was a beautiful view. In the bed, sitting up and staring out the window, sitting perfectly still, was a man. He was so sickly looking she didn't recognize him at first. He had a horrible scar marring hs throat and his mane of wavy white hair was a bit mussed as if he'd just woken up and handn't brushed his hair.

Her brother ran forward and climbed onto the bed. The man turned to regard him slowly. He whispered something to the man then pointed. Magnolia stiffened when she recognized him, "Father?" She said. Moving forward. What had happened to him, he looked so diminished. Her father's eyes focused on her sharply then widened and a slow but lopsided smile pulled at his lips as she moved closer.

She led Dorien to an impressive library. On the desk in the room was an old looking tome. She's started keeping a record of the events that happened during the civil war, feeling that someone should know the truth if she didn't make it. Turned out she did survive and she still kept a record. She indicated the book and told him using mindspeak what was contained inside, Do you need anything while you read? She asked.

"Malen saw the whole thing," Lina said as she raised her hand as the pendant began to glow white, they suddenly were in the past as before, but this time both of them could see what happened. There was Lina, fighting with her mother and the inevitable moment when Lina was held at bay by her mother's shield.

A small figure stood transfixed in the doorway, her darkblue eyes wide as she witnessed the fight and then the death of her mother. The small girl screamed almost in pain as Lina backed away from the bleeding corpse and dropped her double bladed staff.

"I never knew, as you could see, that Malen was watching, but once Malen ran to our mother's body I knew she had seen it all. The look of hurt and anger upon her face and tears that were almost bloody with her rage was enough to let me know that this would always be on her mind."

The vision faded as Lina lowered her hand and the glowing stopped, "I should have been killed for betraying the family that day, but the potion I was given was the only thing that saved me. I was treated as an outcast for centuries afterwards and separated from the others as punishment until all that I had was my magic and physical training to have as company. It was then that Moneko chose me as her apprentice. The rest you of as history..."

Dorien shook his head as he touched the cover of the book, a mildly surprised look on his face before he turned to her, You didn't expect to make through the war..didn't you.. he said, lookin gback at the book, That was why you sent Magnolia to the humans.

Remus sighed heavily as the vision faded. He moved around so Lina was in front of him and gently lifted her head until she could see into his face. "Your actions brought great pain to many. You extinguished the life of your mother and scarred your younger sister. Perhaps the potion was the only thing that saved you... but it did save you." Remus established the connection between their eyes, letting them express more emotion with his words than his voice ever could.

In the past of even the greatest of heroes lie dark secrets. Hercules who killed everyone he ever knew, set out on his quest for redemption. Henry Jekyll, whose invention had so much potential for good, inadvertantly created Edward Hyde. Even the ten... They put themselves to sleep to give the races freedom to rule themselves and they caused more chaos and destruction than could ever have been imagined. Now it is your turn. You have made mistakes and they may haunt you for the rest of your life, but you have done far more good than many others and you have a lot of good left to do... and I will always be here to help...

Remus finished, his eyes still connected to hers. He dearly hoped she understood.

Lina smiled weakly for a moment before taking his hand. There was nothing she could say that would show how much she appreciated his unyielding support and love for her, but as Remus did she could atlest show it through her eyes. There was a large moment of silence before she moved close and kissed him.

"It is good to know I have someone I can lean on..quit eliterally in this case." she said with a brighter smile.

Her eyes suddenly looked glassy as if she were going to start crying. She averted her face quickly and nodded silently. She pressed her lips together, taking a deep breath she dropped that courtly curtsie again and left him to it. She went straight for her husbands room and paused in the doorway. Magnolia was sitting with her brother and their father, looking outside. Magnolia looked over at him and smiled.
