Lykas and Odd would be found in the main room the morning after everyone(mostly) returned from Kitakami with two babies in their care. Odd was feeding Libelle, the infant greedily suckling at her bottle of formula, while Lykas feeding Yuna something a bit more solid. He'd had to check what was good for babies around her size and age and found that there was some baby cereal in the kitchen for her already. So he was amusing the young bunny and feeding her her cereal while Odd sat beside him. As people filtered into the room, the pair would wave and watch out for signs of Terashi and Keiko coming home.

Once the two finally arrived, Odd would be the first to wave. "There are the parents. I think she missed you." He told them with a small laugh. "Poor Glissando's gonna be traumatized from trying to help her sleep, though." He admitted, a large sweatdrop rolling down his forehead as he did. He'd explain further only if prompted.

After Rala teleported us to HQ, Keiko dropped everything to pick up and shower love on Yuna. With a smirk, I tried to get both of our luggage to our room on my own to give Keiko time to be with Yuna, but Rala immediately insisted on helping with her telekinesis, pointing out that neither of us wanted to agitate my chest injury.

When I got back from putting everything away, Keiko was still sitting with the second pair of parents. "I hope she didn't give you too much trouble," she said. This was the second time she'd said this - she was gushing after being reunited with her daughter but she was running out of things to talk about. I wordlessly sat beside her and smiled - first at her, then at Lykas and Odd.

Lykas shook his head in response. "Nah. Those night terrors you warned us about showed up but Glissando helped out with that. Poor guy's probably not going to have a good meal for the next month, though." He replied. "Doc said he got the psychic equivalent of an ulcer from eating them so she could sleep."

"I knew nightmares were supposed to taste bad to Hypno but I had no idea night terrors could be that much worse for them when he offered. Not entirely sure even he realized there was a risk of that, honestly." Odd noted, taking Libelle's bottle away for a moment and letting her breath for a few moments. "You are the greediest baby... This is your second bottle this morning." He commented to her, gently shaking the bottle to get a feel how much was left.

"Looks like she's got another two thirds down." Lykas remarked, looking over at the pair. "Want me to take her for now? I'm afraid to let her keep going. We don't need her giving herself an upset stomach. She can have more in a little while if she's still hungry. Better than than a gassy infant, I think?"

"Probably a good idea." Odd replied, carefully handing Libelle off to her hybrid father. "I'll take this back to the kitchen for now, then. I can finally find it without too much trouble."

"Glad to hear it." Lykas replied, beginning to sound less concerned for Odd but still clearly a bit worried, tapping the floor with one of his tentacles and gaining the attention of A'Capella at the end of he couch as he did. odding toward Odd, he wordlessly got the cat up from her place and she began to walk alongside Odd, just in case.

Clearly the two had been trying to learn more about how to care for a baby in the others' absence. Lykas gently rocked the infant as she fussed, clearly wanting her bottle back, but she was quickly distracted as one of his tentacles wriggled its way into her field of vision and wiggle about, easily entertaining her as she began to grab at it.

"The day she was born, we went to Unova and Alola to show them off to our parents, and while we were at my parents they told me they found out that my biological mother had some other kids, so I had some sisters. We went to meet them, and while we were there, some punk hybrid kid threw a ball at Yuna like she was a Pokemon or something. Granted, she looked just like a Buneary back then, but she's been having nightmares ever since," Keiko explained "That was her first day on this earth, though. The nightmares could be completely unrelated for all we know."

Yuna started crying as soon as she finished saying that. Keiko tried to calm her down by rocking her gently, but when that didn't work, I handed Keiko a bottle to give to Yuna. I could feel the baby's mood shift while Keiko was explaining the situation. Yuna, thankfully, stopped crying the second the bottle's n****e was in her mouth, causing Keiko to breathe a sigh of relief. "I swear, my heart jumps into my throat every time she cries," Keiko huffed, though she couldn't hilde the smile on her face from watching her daughter eat in peace.

"You've always been a worrywart," I smirked, wrapping an arm around her shoulders. "To be honest, though, I REALLY hope she grows out of the night terrors." I added with a sigh. Keiko nodded in agreement as she fed Yuna.

Lykas looked horrified at the thought of someone attempting to capture your newborn hybrid child with a Pokeball. "I wouldn't be surprised if they are related to that, honestly. But what I've found about night terrors says they aren't all that uncomment in newborns and infants all the way up to a couple of years old." He explained. "I was worried that Libelle might start having them as she gets older and it's apparently a possibility even without any kind of traumatic events. Just something that happens with some babies as they try to understand the world around them, I guess?"

"Sister Mary Catherine told me when I was little that I had them as a baby, too. I don't remember any trauma but I don't think most people remember stuff from infancy?" Odd replied. "So I'd guess she'll eventually forget whatever's wrong, start to understand whatever it is she's afraid of or otherwise just 'grow out of it' as the saying goes?" He suggested, trying to offer some condolence regarding the Toumei baby's night terrors.

"That would be my guess, too. If she doesn't stop having them by the time she's around five, child therapy is supposed to be able to help most kids still having them by that age, too so that might be an option if they don't stop on their own." Lykas replied.

"Given what we know about her accelerated aging," I sighed, "it'll probably somewhere after her first birthday," I added.

"Sheesh, don't remind me," Keiko whined, holding Yuna close. "We don't even know when it's going to slow down." The very thought made her want to beat the crap out of Lovrina all over again, but she didn't say that. Not when Yuna was so close to her. "Thank you for the advice," she said instead, pointing her attention to the other baby-raising couple. "Though I really hope she stops having them before then," she added.

"For her sake and ours," I groaned. "Would be nice to be able to sleep through the night again."

"To be fair, I'm sure we could spin a much funnier podcast than some of the Occulture writers," Sol chimed in, having found his way to the kitchen just in time for Reno's last remark. He could feel a tenseness in the air, apart from the so-called resting state of his natural pressures. "I get the feeling all didn't go quite so well with the trip, but I won't pry. Probably the most excitement Kitakami's seen in years, at least." He'd grab one of the cupcakes and take a seat, already starting to take the liner off it and looking towards Crystal. "Anyways, since I'm sure you saw the boards, did Reno add the part where those were partially my idea to make it easier to follow?"

Crystal shook her head. It shouldn’t have been the most excitement Kitakami had seen in a while, though. And she started to open her mouth to say something to that effect, maybe rant a little bit, but decided to close it, rethinking her actions. She didn’t know if Darts was around to hear her still, and she didn’t know if others might have the same complaints about her as he did. So, better to just keep her thoughts about Kitakami to herself. “No, I’m afraid I didn’t hear that part,” she replied quietly, shaking her head again. “I will say, it does almost make you two out to be loons, though. …If there wasn’t the context of the chaos at the school with Team Star.” She had a slight smile on her face, calling them loons, but it faded quickly, the events of the evening replaying in her head again. Taking a deep breath and sighing, she’d look at both of her teammates. “Sorry, I’m not… The evening was a lot, and I think I need to decompress. I’m just going to go hunker down in my room for the night. I’ll catch you all later.” With that, she’d head out of the kitchen and up to her own room, avoiding any eye contact with people, leaving malasada uneaten. She hadn’t been in the mood to eat all day, and probably wasn’t for the days to come. She was expecting to get chewed out in the morning, and she was unsure of the footing she stood on with the team, with Darts’ words landing a lot harder than maybe intended. She already felt like she made more issues than she helped, especially when she thought of the situation at the school. Between only making that situation with the vehicle worse, and nearly leaving Aden for dead when she was just too scared to move after finding out the Ziton was there, that was one hell of a….

The hybrid would realize she was at her room when she quite nearly ran into the door, getting lost in her own head and letting her habits guide her. With another shake of her head, she’d open the door and enter the room, throwing the bag and outer clothes on the bed before making sure the door was locked and lying down on the floor. She had just gotten back when she realised that she was now glad that Darts wasn’t there for that. Mostly because he probably could have used all that in his roasting of her. He probably could have better accused her of being a coward at that point, because she froze up initially when push came to shove in helping Aden. Light… it looked like it was about time to overanalyze things she did in the past.

"For her sake and ours," I groaned. "Would be nice to be able to sleep through the night again."

Lykas nodded along as the couple talked about Yuna’s unique aging. “I’d imagine you don’t know much about it, myself. Quarter hybrids and less are barely studied at all compared to full hybrids.” He responded, sounding a bit sad. “Look at me. I was born one-sixteenth hybrid and it was killing me but I was able to hybridize with something other than a Milotic. I didn’t even know if it was possible when I tried. I was fully prepared to die from the attempt but it was better than doing it slowly.” He explained.

“But Yuna was born healthy as far as I can tell. So I doubt you have too much to worry about.” Odd noted, trying to spin the conversation in a more positive light. “Her soul is full of the light of life and it doesn’t seem to be going anywhere.” He assured the pair. He was almost positive it was actually overflowing with that light at the moment but it was hard to say, given how new this strange alteration to his vision was. He still needed to go and speak with Master Amaya about it but he wanted to be sure he could navigate the unseen parts of the world without getting himself killed first. So taking time to adjust to his mostly-blindness was a priority.

“Right! So try not to worry too much about her and just focus on doing the best you can to raise her. That’s kind of the same position we’re in, now.” Lykas added, realizing what Odd was doing. "I'm sure the night terrors will stop sooner than you expect if you're not worrying about them constantly."
PostPosted: Wed Apr 09, 2025 2:25 pm

"That just makes me worry about our future grandkids," I admitted. I remembered hearing about Lykas's problems being 1/16th Milotic before, but hearing them now gave our current conversation a scary 'what if' to think about. "Assuming she even-" I started to add, but I was cut off by Keiko slapping my arm.

"It's WAY too early to think about that!" she insisted. She felt angry, but I could tell she was holding her emotions back. Probably to not scare Yuna with them. I'd read somewhere that babies were sensitive to their parents' emotions, and I guess Keiko heard about that, too. Or, maybe it was maternal instinct. I could see either being the case, honestly. "I'm glad she's healthy, and right now, that's ALL that matters when it comes to her," she added with a huff. I rubbed the back of my head sheepishly as Yuna gurgled and bounced in her mother's arms. Watching that, I couldn't help but agree with her.

"I wish there was some way we could help you with that," Keiko spoke up, referring to Odd's handicap, "but I get that your focus is on maintaining your independence in the meantime." I nodded at Keiko's sentiment before chiming in. "You know we got your back if you need anything, though." Keiko and I smiled in unison at our friends after I said that.

[One year after the trip to Kitakami...]

It was an average day in Team Snagem HQ, at least average for the past year. Ever since their rendezvous in Paldea which led to them earning legal sanction to operate in all regions Team Snagem has been busily hunting down Shadow Pokemon across the globe. While the fights against these corrupted creatures weren't always easy it was much better than foiling the plots of mad scientists, fighting ultra invaders, or fending off mind snatchers. No, being solely focused on hunting down Shadow Pokemon was a much welcomed reprieve for what had became normal for Team Snagem for a period of time there. No Ziton or Ultra Beasts, no weird fungi, and no Paradox. It was...nice?

"Alright, that's another Shadow Pokemon for to be added to the purification itinerary." Sub proclaimed as he sat down at the desk in his office, placing the Pokeball of the recently snagged Shadow Scyther on the PC's Pokeball receiver, the ball being instantly converted into energy and sent into the SNAG network for later withdraw. "Another Bug type too, I'm sure that'll send Reno spiraling again. Ugh...our budget of red string and thumb tacks is getting out of control as it is." The man said, shaking his head as he turned to the PC and began to type away at it as he started writing out a report for his most recent snag. "Say GRAY, speaking of purification who is on purification duties this week?" He called out to the AI.

Sub would not receive an immediate answer, instead there would be a knock at the door, the sound of the knock causing Allan to jump into a defensive stance as he spun around to face the door. The Snagem leader would sigh and tell his Bisharp to stand down and just open the door. The faithful Pokemon would nod and salute at Sub before turning back to the door and opening it up, a certain miniature version of an Ultra Beast sliding in through the opening.

"According to the calendar that would be you yourself this week, dear leader." GRAY commented from the Gray Matter Kernel on top of the tiny Stakataka, the light on the box blinking from blue to pink and back with each word he uttered. "You are done for purifying at least two Shadow Pokemon this week, maybe even a third thanks to this new acquisition. Hope you don't have any other plans." GRAY continued. Sub just sighed.

"Yay...awesome, it's not like I had any plans for the weekend or anything...who am I kidding? I never have weekend plans. Last time I tried to get away for the weekend I came back to booby trapped pink silly string in my desk drawers and a pink confetti bomb in my bedroom. I'm still finding little pieces of paper in my bed and that was four months ago. No one will fess up to doing it either." Sub said, shaking his head, a small smile appearing on his face shortly after. Despite it all this was kind of nice, this last year, consistency was nice.

Sub would spend the next fifteen minutes finishing his report on the Shadow Scyther he snagged from that forty year old Bug Catcher who had no business wearing shorts that skimpy, being sure to include that fashion fact in his report as well because it was something he would never forget. "God I hope that really was a Weedle..." He muttered to himself, shivering at the thought as he typed down the last few words before finally hitting save. "There, done!" He declared to no one in particular, even thought both STAK and Allan were in the room. "What time is it? Noon?" He said, looking to the clock on the wall, eight minutes pass twelve during the day. "Cool, I'm going to get myself something to eat. Want a poffin, Allan?" The man asked his Pokemon, pointing a finger at him. The Bisharp would simply salute his trainer as he went for the door, Sub giving off a wry laugh.

"Alright, a cool poffin for my cool dude it is." He told the Bisharp as he patted him on the shoulder before exiting the office, STAK following him close behind as they made their way downstairs and into the common area. "I wonder who is here today? People have been in and out of HQ so much this past year that I never know who I will find down here." He said as he went down the steps, STAK beeping in agreement. Who would be down in the common room?
PostPosted: Fri Apr 11, 2025 12:03 pm

Tsuki was there, laying out of the way on the cold tile, exhausted from another training session where he had undoubtedly broken another piece of sparring equipment. He had spent the last year focusing on trying to catch up with the other Snagem Operatives: learning about Mega Evolution in Kalos, Dynamax in Galar along with honing his battle skills by doing that region’s gym challenge, and finally getting around to becoming a fire channeler. Hence the broken sparring dummy he’d have to replace. Again. This was the fifth one, something about getting his anger out on something that couldn’t feel pain was the closest he could get to catharsis.

He had been in and out of the HQ during the last year, too busy with his training to pick up that many missions. The now seventeen year old was taking his mentor’s advice on making a solid foundation before doing anything. Besides, with the tournament in One Island on the horizon he’d need to be at his A game.

“Heyo.” He’d say to Sub when he walked into the common area, shaking a water bottle at the guy as a wave before drinking half of it in one go. The Tsuki here looked different from the one they had met again back in Paldea- he had grown something like two inches taller and had bulked up from all of the running around and exercising. It was hard to say if he was happier, it had still been a rough year on him but he was getting through it somehow. His Magby lay on his lap, working on a handful of berries herself. Still unevolved, still tiny, but working on overcoming that limitation on her own terms.

If Maggie wasn’t going to evolve, and she wasn’t, she and her trainer would have to find another way to make her stronger. Getting down some key strategies that relied on getting in and out quickly, seeing what Dynamax could offer her specifically (whenever they got around to getting that SNAG Machine upgrade), and learning a move that could bridge the gap more. Fire Blast was still out of reach but she knew she had to be close.

One year has passed for Deo, and still his family (minus Grandmother) does not know his transformation nor his status as a Snagem. He had been busy not only with catching Shadow Pokemon. He also have been learning more about himself, catching up on books he had no chance to catch up on. Currently he had been catching up on a new book in the common room. As his form, still strong and built, was groomed and brushed well. Many times he would be caught brushing his hair or filing his claws. He also learned to control his stomach, and his temper. His grandmother had been sending cakes 2-3 times a month for the past 12 months. Each time it was seasonal and various in designs of cakes and pastries. She even sent 3 gallons of holiday custard during the festive season. But right now, with a good book in his paws, sitting cross legged, calm as can be. Deo was sitting in the common room.
PostPosted: Fri Apr 11, 2025 12:22 pm

Amber and Rachel sat at one table in the common room, their teams somewhat mingling. Brian was in the kitchen, fixing a quick meal for those who were currently at HQ. While most of his team were resting in their balls, Lu, his constant companion, stood next to him, while Daar, his Jangmo-o, ran around near the girls and their teams. He'd grown since Brian had hatched him a year before, and while he still wouldn't let the little Dragon-type out in a heavily populated area yet, he was showing improvement at being around people. He couldn't let Aisha out around Daar, however, as she had a nasty habit of trying to provoke him into a battle. She understood that Daar was one of her teammates, but her Draconic nature and his wouldn't rest until one of them proved themself the 'alpha,' so to speak.

Rachel and Amber were conversing about mundane things, mostly what they'd done over the last year. The two had become fast friends, despite Rachel not really letting anyone close to her since her friend Cindy's passing seven years before. Perhaps their shared experience with death had allowed them to bond more quickly than usual. Speaking of that, Amber wondered where Lily had gotten to. She knew the Phantump had a penchant for pulling pranks, even more so than Spooky did, and she'd heard about the booby traps Sub had suffered. To her, that had Ghost-type written all over it, but she couldn't say for sure that it was one of her Ghost-types, or whether it was someone else. She wouldn't put it past any of them, though.

While talking, Rachel was busy tending her own team. Rainer was her constant companion; the Eevee hated being away from her. Layla, her Rockruff, had grown quite close with the male Normal-type, so she could see the two of them becoming a thing in the future. Meanwhile, Drevab, her shiny Turtonator, was sitting a little distance away, making sure that nothing could touch the spikes on his back. Layla, being as playful as she was, had pestered the Fire/Dragon-type enough that he'd turned just as she'd nipped him playfully. Unfortunately, that had resulted in her biting down on one of his spikes, which had immediately blown up in her face and thrown her backward. Thankfully, they'd been outside when that had happened, and Layla had never done it again.

Brian saw Sub and Allan walk in, and he gave them a friendly wave. He could also see Tsuki and Deo sitting nearby. "Hey, Sub, Allan," he said. "How goes the Shadow Hunt?" There were plates of food set out, eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns, basically anything necessary for a good breakfast. There were also plates of sweets that he'd made, mostly Pokemon treats, but some for the human and hybrid variant, as well. "Come and get it, guys, food is served," he said, raising his voice so that anyone else in the common room could hear him.

"Daddy! Daddy!"

I opened my eyes reluctantly. A year of dealing with Yuna's night terrors made getting sleep something Keiko and I had to work for. Her crying in the middle of the night got quieter recently, for which we could only be grateful to her therapist, but then she started learning how to talk, and started telling us what her dreams were about.

Yuna was seeing the past in her dreams.

An explanation for Yuna's dreams and why they're happening. Contains spoilers for my next Master Mission.
Not things she personally experienced. She was just a toddler at this point. No, she was having dreams about things that had happened to her parents - Keiko and I. The first dream she told us about took place in Realgam Tower in Oree, during our final fight with Team Cipher. She saw Keiko fight S-22 while thinking Ulla and I were dead, with the end result being that Keiko had her arm broken. She'd also dreamt of the time I got knocked into a coma by wannabe Cipher grunts in Route 3 in Unova before Keiko and I got together. And, of course, she saw the a*****e who lobbed a Pokeball at her head when she was a newborn. She didn't see past events, clearly, however. Her night terrors took the form of past events that had been twisted into the worst possible outcomes. The Realgam Tower dream had Keiko fighting S-22 by herself, with Keiko thinking that everyone she ever knew or love was dead. The route 3 dream had me die to the wannabe grunts and Keiko being surrounded to them. We took her to a therapist, and from what he could tell, the guy that hit her in the head with a Pokeball used his full arm strength, and the resulting trauma is what's causing her power to paint the past so negatively.

Yeah, her mind wasn't coming up with these nightmares on its own. She was an Esper - a human with psychic abilities, though her power was on the lower end. Her ability was causing her to dream of the past, but her trauma was the reason they were night terrors instead of dreams. I considered catching a Dark-type Pokemon to have it watch over her while she slept or buying her an accessory made of ebonite, but after consulting an expert, we were warned that suppressing her power with Dark-type energy could have lasting consequences due to her age. The best the therapist could do was to tell Yuna that they were only dreams and that they couldn't hurt her, and that she should focus on enjoying her life with her friends and family. Keiko and I didn't have the heart to tell her that she was seeing the past in her dreams, anyway - although we knew we couldn't keep it from her forever.

As you can imagine, learning this about my daughter gave me some very pointed questions to ask my mother. Turns out, my grandmother had psychic powers, too, but hated them and wanted nothing to do with the side of our family those powers came from. That made some things from my past make more sense. Mom swears she didn't inherit powers and that I didn't, either. But when I first joined Snagem, I was convinced that I was horrible at hiding my emotions, and that problem hasn't come up, since. Then there's the fact that I took far less damage from the Black Hole Incident than I should have - an event that got a lot of my variants across Ultra Space killed. There was no doubt about it - we were all Espers, albeit rather weak ones. I'd heard of Sabrina's impressive psychic prowess - something that came to her LONG before she became Saffron City's Psychic-type Gym Leader. Compared to her, the esper side of my family were small fish in a big pond.

"I'm awake, Yuna," I groaned, forcing myself into a sitting position on the bed. I turned to look at her, afraid she'd been crying and desperate to share another of her night terrors, but her eager smile put me at ease. My Rotom Phone then forced itself into my field of vision, revealing the time in a rather large font. It was already noon.

"C'mooon! Mommy and Mr. Brian are making lunch downstairs!" she insisted in a faux huff, though she wasn't good at faking being angry - at her age, her heart was an open book that I didn't need Rala or the Betyl Stone to read. Her attempt was cute, though.

"Daddy's gotta bathe and get dressed. You go on ahead," I told her. She wasn't happy about it, and insisted that the food would be cold by the time I was done, but I assured her I'd be quick and that Rala would help once I was ready so I didn't spend precious seconds walking down the stairs. Yuna accepted my lie at face value - Rala has been having trouble teleporting short distances since we won our Key Stone - but insisted I hurry up before closing the door behind her.

Fifteen minutes later, I showed up in the kitchen to find Keiko, who'd entered the kitchen a moment after Brian announced that he'd cooked food for those in the common room, as she was putting the finishing touches on something while Yuna struggled to keep her balance on a stool as she washed her hands. Meanwhile, her non-shiny younger sister sat in a booster seat at the table closes to her mom. "I'm surprised you're cooking. Brian already made food." I brought up. Keiko just smiled at it, though. "I felt like making something special today," she explained. I shrugged, then turned my gaze to Yuna. "Lemme guess," I said with a smirk. "You put syrup on your hands."

"Mommy said they'd get sticky, but I didn't know what that meant," Yuna explained as she put her whole arm into rubbing soap into the fur on her other hand. "Well, now you know," Keiko pointed out with a gentle smile as she started moving plates onto the table our youngest was sitting at.

"Daa..." the newest member of the Toumei family cooed as I sat next to her at the head of the table. I smarked, and rubbed the top of her head with my hand, eliciting a giggle from the infant. "Hello to you, too, Serena," I replied before looking at the lunch in question. "Ooh, berry pancakes! It's been a while."

"You made mine all Pechas, right, mommy?" Yuna asked as she turned the sink off and started working her way down to the floor. "Yes, I did. Show me your hands," Keiko asked. After a close examination of the palms of Yuna's hands, she decided that the syrup had been satisfactoily removed from the fur on Yuna's palms and she let her oldest take her seat beside her sibling, taking a seat opposite them and beside me.

The four of us ate peacefully for a while, but Yuna's mind started to wander after a while. "I hope Big Sis comes to visit," she stated, referring to Ulla. She had trouble pronouncing her name, so Yuna just referred to her as 'Big Sis'. Keiko and I agreed that Ulla showing up would be nice, but we didn't put any expectations on it happening. Ulla's responsibilities as Guardian of the Fairy Realm kept her away from the team as a whole for long stretches of time thanks to the differences of the passage of time between there and the rest of the world, so we didn't see much of her. Fortunately, what Keiko and I said seemed to help Yuna put her focus back on her food and we continued to eat in peace, though Keiko had to help Serena eat before she could.

As we did so, Absinthe wandered into the kitchen with a Porygon Phone close to her face. In order to spend as much time as possible being parents, and to give me plenty of time to spend doing freelance work so we could afford our daughters' CONSTANT wardrobe updates as well (as the phone bill), Absinthe graciously agreed to covering for us when our names came up for purification duty. She wasn't doing it out of the kindness of her heart, though - her budding internet career on KlinkTot started with her posting a tutorial for purifying Shadow Pokemon, and once the team began settling into a pattern of catching (or in some cases snagging) Shadow Pokemon for purification, Absinthe realized she could use it to fuel said career and somehow managed to get her hands on a Porygon Phone. She'd went from posting short-form videos to streaming after that.

Focusing on the now, Absinthe smelled the pancakes, but didn't look up to ask. "Make some for the whole class?" she asked, though what she meant was 'did we make enough for the rest of the team?'

"There's plenty of batter left, but that's it," Keiko informed the teenager. Absinthe merely shrugged at that, and made a plate for herself out of what Brian was offering. As she did, I started getting curious. Between that and wanting ot make conversation, I asked, "How's things going for you on the internet?" I wasn't fully aware of how it all worked, so I worded it the best I could.

"Channel's doing numbers," Absinthe said flatly. "Kind of waiting for the crap to hit the fan, though." Keiko thought to yell at Abby for saying that, but didn't think it was too bad until Yuna spoke up. "What's that mean?" I facepalmed, and Keiko wasn't pleased, but Abby was quicker on defense than either of us expected. "Nothin' you need to worry about, kiddo. Just thinking that it's weird for this team to stick to one problem for a whole year, even if it has been good for my channel."

"Can't say I blame you, there," I spoke up before taking another bite of pancake. "I'd be surprised if it lasts much longer." Absinthe nodded, and finished making her meal, makinng sure to put the milk away before finding a seat to eat at. Yuna only seemed concerned by what Abby and I were talking about. "Is somethin' bad gonna happen?" she asked, making a face that combined puppy eyes with her mom's worrywart expression. I couldn't help but smile at that. "Nothing we can't handle, honey," I assured her, referring to the entire team instead of just Keiko and myself. Not that Keiko couldn't handle most anything put before her. She spend her free time for the past twelve months building muscle, and it was hart not to notice at this point.
