Balcerzak Lady Willow Black Alexi Terianis Lady Willow Black Chocolate Kisses over at (107|-42) must die. scream Oh? Why and how quickly? I'll see what I can do. No, I'm not in the top five. I fight for my spot in the top ten, if I'm lucky. I grow slowly, and I could blame that, but it's not really that. I care more for the battle in these games than the economy, so I'm slow most of the time. He has attacked me eleven times in three days. I want his town burned, his children sold as slaves, and his women made to wear unflattering dresses. stare What was the size of his largest army, and has he been using scouts? Sometimes all you can do is defend, especially against people with big friends. sad I am more than happy to contribute some defenders if you need, however. Between us, I am sure we can make you an unattractive target for Chocolate Kisses.

Wow, I just read the battle reports and his alliance info. burning_eyes Um, yah. Maybe for now you are going to have to send any units you build to someone else as you make them, and keep your cranny up. After a few days, he will probably get bored of trying. If not, maybe Arc can show some of his winning ways and get you an NAP... we have a few alliances in common with TF - 3, so it might be possible. Until then, I am afraid you will either have to be friendly with him or ignore him. sad

Will, there're 82 Thunders headed your way. It's a 12 hour ride, but they're coming. It's all the cavalry I have.

I'm massing tuetonic knights. But right now, I'm considering taking the moment to research spearmen. They're slower, but with my barracks the level it is, I could probably get a metric ton and a half in about two days. How much wheat do you produce, Willow? I'll try to keep the number below that when I send them. He sent all cavalry, last I checked, so maybe that could make a dent?
(Unfortunately, you'll have to wait for me to get the upgrade, and the long walk. But I bet I could get 100 down to you by the end of the week.)
Edit: Also - I'm finally researching catapults. Soon, I'll start stepping up my resource production again, and I can do some honest fighting.

I will be able to start pumping out defensive units again in about 3 days. Level 14 hero's mansion now building... so I need to wait a few hours to be able to upgrade my warehouse again, then the two day push for level 15 and that oasis is mine! pirate

He won't be able to feed defenders. Dragonace catapulted his granery into oblivion (along with his palace, barracks, main building, wall....) burning_eyes Okay, Arc, if you are around I think it is time to practise some well-placed negotiations. This guy obviously has something out for Will, so good luck... Edit: Or someone else with percieved clout and negotiation skills? He is almost to the point where it would be better to delete the village and start over elsewhere. cry

What did you expect? Everyone sending each other chocolate kisses and stuffed bunnies? Also, I don't yet have anything that can begin to hold a candle to 800 swordmen on the defense, but I'm pumping some more out as I can.

Balcerzak Also, I don't yet have anything that can begin to hold a candle to 800 swordmen on the defense, but I'm pumping some more out as I can. I can't touch that yet. Do you want me to mass the forces I would need to dent it, or start to break it down? I can. I'd be willing to go down for that.

Also, I don't yet have anything that can begin to hold a candle to 800 swordmen on the defense, but I'm pumping some more out as I can. ... I don't dare respond to this in-game, lest I be this a*****e's next target. None of us can cope with the kind of force this guy has fielded. But his stated philosophy triggered some thoughts... spaceFrom a strictly historical perspective, the kind of mayhem you've dealt out is self defeating. Raiders would never dream of destroying mercantile infrastructure (warehouse, granary, administrative, etc.); such actions would vastly diminish the value of the target for future strikes. Barbarian hordes would never think twice about that kind of attack, simply because they're never planning on coming back. But by the same token, the barbarians aren't really interested in anything beyond spendable/easily tradable items. The only reason an attack of this magnitude would be useful for would be vengeance; quite literally bombing the would-be foe into the stone age as 'payment' for some slight (either real or imagined). One-shot attacks also fall into this category, but in a game based on expansionist philosophy (as this one is) it makes little sense as a strategic plan. The scorched earth attack cares little for resources, seeking only to raze the target to the ground, then salting the earth to prevent any chance of rebuilding. spaceWith this in mind, your response is at best flawed. Raiding and pillaging are two different things. Pillaging would fall mostly under the vengeance attack, while raiding would want to preserve the infrastructer and target only the military capabilities - this approach leaves a sweet, mostly undefended target for future strikes. The raider could then demand danegeld to stave off further attacks, providing the attacker with steady income from a 'client state'. This approach pays off in the long term, as the aggressor state has the option of disregarding the payment, striking again, and then demanding an even higher tribute. spaceSo again... why?

After looking the reports over, I think I might have an idea. Everything aside from the Granary/Warehouse is in sync with the typical smackdown to farm status, making me think that he set the Catas to random rather than choosing an actual target.
Though I *am* surprised to not see Will's wheatfields destroyed. That would entirely confirm my suspicions. Looks like Arc has his work cut out, between TF 3 and -RING-.
