Oboe in concert and guard for marching. I could march with Larry(my oboe) if I wanted to, but my guard coach would kill me. I'm the only oboe in my band and it kinda sucks.

I want to learn how to play bassoon.... Can someone tell me how difficult it is to play? Because I'd have to switch over from basically all of low brass/ trumpet (I don't play horn or tuba but I play every other concert band brass insturment) to a double reed. I march trombone and baritone, I mess around on trumpet.
I've been thinking about playing either bassoon or bass trombone, but I couldn't decide whether I wanted to march or not. I could play bass trombone just for fun and be in pit and play bassoon, but I'd have to learn it first.
So basically what I'm saying is how hard is it to play bassoon, from a brass (mainly low) player?

Double the reed, double the awesome blaugh
I LOVE the oboe... and bothering my bassoon neighbor by pressing one of her many buttons (that sounds wrong xd )
The clarinets who sit on my other side hate it when I mess it up... They say it sounds like "the wrath of banshees from the depths of Hell, coming to steal away their souls with the horrid screeches"... YAY whee

Trombone Hero I want to learn how to play bassoon.... Can someone tell me how difficult it is to play? I could play bass trombone just for fun and be in pit and play bassoon, but I'd have to learn it first. So basically what I'm saying is how hard is it to play bassoon, from a brass (mainly low) player? I went from one year of band with trumpet to bassoon, and I don't feel like it's too much of an issue... the main fingerings are easy and I get by using them and them alone...so I'd have to say it should be fine...the only issue you'll have it the face you have to make to play and the using yor left hand for notes as well as your right...(which isn't much of an issue) It's not as hard as a lot of people make it ou to be...but I suggest to look at your hands first. my hands are small and it makes it hard for me to do a couple notes...but average to large sized hands should work out wonderfully ^__^

Too bad I suck...
I think double reeds are the bomb. I play trumpet for marching and it isn't nearly as cool.
