Alyosha smiled as Ieyasu sat down "not bad, not bad" he replied, a mischevious grin coming onto his face "Been kept busy with Sy, I guess".

His eyes tracked Osu as the little gryphon was momentarily drawn towards the fire, he thought Acia had pinned his abilities down well when she had been working them out. The friendly little creature moved around him and he moved a hand out towards the long beak, not wishing to pat him if he didn't want it.

"Still quite the handful, I see" he comment to Ieyasu whilst using his free hand to rummage around in the cook bag. He had cut piles of meat into small chunks and produced one now to hold towards the gryphon, tempting him closer.

He could fel the stillness of night decending, the evening insects beginning to quiet as their nighttime cousins awoke. It promised to be a clear, warm night.

Ieyasu's grin widened at Alyosha's first comment momentarily. "So I heard. Her sister is on the rampage about it, you know. She accused me of being the one 'banging' Sy." He grimaced faintly for a moment, remembering the eventual outcome of that incident. He had no wish for a repeat of what she had done to him. Euch. Disgusting.

Osu nudged at Alyosha's hand playfully, chirruping again. He liked this guy! His bushy tail flicked back and forth, stirring up a little sand behind him. And then.. was that food he had too?? Ok, he *really* liked this guy. Giving an appreciative trumpet, he immediately came closer. Catching hold of the little chunk of meat in the end of his beak, he then threw back his head to swallow the food.

Ieyasu glanced down at Osu before shaking his head in mock exasperation. "You're telling me. The only time he sits still is when he's sleeping. I don't know how he does it."

Alyosha grinned as Osu plucked the meat from him and used his other hand to stroke the little orange menace. He addressed the gryphon as he spoke, laughing "Ahh a little torment, are you? Maybe you should get a large hamster wheel" he grinned and then looked towards Ieyasu.

His face took on a slightly puzzled look as he head Ieyasu talking about Sy's sister and what she had said. "I see, so I have another neko-jin on the warpath then?" he snickered a little, pulling the bag of food towards him. "Dig in", he offered, handing Ieyasu a couple of long metal skewers.

"Let's say she's a fair bit more brash than Syrenrei is. At least, from what I've seen of them. She's a shapeshifter." He shrugged his shoulders. "It was quite funny, really. Until she pissed on me."

Reaching forward, he took the proffered skewers from Alyosha, spiking a chunk of meat from the bag. "Thanks" Leaning over closer to the fire, he held the skewer over the flames, waiting as the meat cooked in the heat.

Cheerfully, Osu trumpeted at Alyosha again, enjoying the attention. Playfully, he nudged at the man before dancing a few steps away. He took a few steps closer to the bonfire, careful not to get too close. He hadn't forgotten how much the writhing flames could hurt if they touched you. Instead, he contented himself with studying them for a few moments, his head tilting inquisitively.

After a pause, he seemed to pull himself away from the fire again, trotting over to Ieyasu as if to check up on his guardian and what he was doing. He then bounded a few paces away again, picking a spot between the two big people. Thumping down onto the sand, he rolled onto his side playfully, chirruping again.

He nodded. Hearing about Sydney from Ieyasu confirmed Sy's views which he'd been slightly doubting. Sisters always argue afterall.

Alyosha looked around within the bag and speared himself a chunk of beef. It was a bit of a treat as fresh meat (bar anything Osero caught) was hard to get and no cattle species lived on these Islands. He held the chunk over the meat to cook it lightly. His stomach appreciated rare meat and his mouth was already watering at the thought.

"I was surprised to find another kitsune here, especially a nogitsune. Myobu I could see wanting to help but... I've often been curious about your reasons" he left the question hanging there. It was a wondering statement, one Ieyasu could avoid if he wished, he didn't want to pry afterall.

Ieyasu stared at Alyosha for a moment, his pale gaze a considering one. A short pause passed before, he looked away again, a faint grin breaking out over his features.

"I guess I didn't want to always be bad. One hundred and fifty years of being a royal pain in the a**, and I finally figured I should do something right for a change." He gave the other kitsune a wry smile.
"Old habits often die hard though, it seems. I'd never, ever do anything to hurt Osusuki or the other Aerandir, but I'd swear that if I don't go looking for trouble, it decides to come looking for me."

He pulled the meat out of the fire for a moment, examining it. After another short pause, he thrust the skewer back into the flames before continuing to speak. His tone grew almost thoughtful. "Let's just say I'd be willing to wager that sister of your neko-jin lover doesn't like me very much."

He nodded slightly, taking this information into consideration whilst he began to bite into the first chunk of sizzling meat. "You do rather seem to invite trouble but... to be honest, some people are just a little too hung up about things." he winked at Ieyasu, thinking of Sy's reactions to the younger kitsunes taunts.

He speared another piece of meat, a thin slice and poked it back into the now blazing fire before continuing. "From the sound of it that woman" he sid, referring to Syd "doesn't much like anyone." he looked over at Ieyasu. "You're not finding yourself without good company are you? Nyxa seemed quite keen on you at our last little soiree" he grinned, rolling over on his back to gulp down the thin slice of nearly-raw meat. The charcoal always seemed to add something to the flavour.

Ieyasu broke into another wide grin. "I've have very good company. Although, I haven't seen her for a few days. I'll maybe drop by tomorrow or something."

Pulling the skewer out of the fire again, he bit into the roasting meat, chewing on it with relish. It had been a while since he had had beef to eat.

Osusuki rolled back to his feet again. Giving himself a little shake to clear the sand from his fur, he trotted over to the fire. Sitting down near it, he trumpeted a little, his tail flicking back and forth over the sand. Fire was so pretty, if painful, afterall....

Toying with the empty skewer, Ieyasu glanced briefly over at the gryphon, checking that he wasn't getting into too much trouble. Satisfied, he then glanced back at Alyosha, a mischievous light sunddenly appearing in his eyes. "So what was the deal with the skirt?"

Alyosha grinned as he pulled from the cooler a bottle of vodka, similar to the one he'd given Ieyasu earlier.

"The skirt.. ah yes, the skirt" he thought back on the episode with himself in Sy's little blue skirt. He spoke as he poured two small glasses of vodka, assuming that the other kitsune would, of course, wish to have a drink.

"Well, the little neko-jin decided to steal my troussers. I thought I'd get her back by showing that i'm not exactly bothered by what I wearin this human form. I don't think she's quite grasped that yet." he grinned, holding out the glass towards Ieyasu.

"Why? Do you want to borrow it?" he laughed a little, skewering another piece of meat and holding it into the flames, careful of Osu.

"Oh, I see." Ieyasu laughed as he reached for the shot of vodka. Picking up the little glass, he paused, glancing impishly at the older kitsune.

"What do you think she'd do if she saw me in that skirt?" He reckoned it would be funny to say the least. Lifting the glass, he knocked back the drink. The sharp taste of the vodka stung a little. Good stuff, that.

Osusuki chirruped inquisitively, twisting to glance up at Alyosha as the man stuck something in the fire. He stared at the skewer for a moment. How come some things changed when you put them into the fire, and some didn't? Food changed. Although, depending on what the food was, it changed in different ways. Usually, though, food first went brown. Then it went black and smelled funny. Ieyasu didn't seem to like it when that happened. But, then, other stuff, like the pots that food got put in, and the skewers there, they didn't change much. He wondered why.

Alyosha pondered for a moment. "I think... I think she'd think that she wanted to kill me for giving it to you in the first place." he laughed a little, the neko-jin would have a hard time hurting him as her psionic powers often seemed confused when she was near. On the other hand he wouldn't like to try his luck.

"So" he said, changing the subject, "I see Osu is still quite well despite what appears to be a rather large fascination with fire... I'm surprised he's not hurt himself yet." he turned to look at the little creature who didn't seem to be losing energy even at this late hour.

"Once he's a child he's probably best being schooled a little by Acia so he learns how to control his abilities.. spellcasters are... well." he paused. "Lets just say if you want to wake up each morning with a house rather than a pile of ash it's best to make sure his abilities are kept in check.

Ieyasu laughed again, setting down the empty glass. As the subject changed, he glanced towards the gryphon near the fire. He frowned a little, remembering when the Aerandir had burned himself.

"He has. I turned my back for a second a few weeks ago and he managed to burn his paw. I think he learned his lesson from that though. Foenix and Nehanda were able to mix up a salve that was great for burns, so in the end he came out of it not too badly."

He glanced at Alyosha curiously. "Who's Acia?"

Alyosha grimaced slightly at the thought of the young gryphon managing to harm himself but understood well the tenacity of spellweaver Aerandir and their element. At least earth hadn't posed too much of a problem as an element.

"Ahhh I didn't realise you hadn't heard of Acia, though I doubt many people have seen her. She was my charge, a spellweaving Aerandir. She's the youngest of the 'first generation' and an earth elementalist spellweaver."

"She's a little... flighty when it comes to adults." he added with a slight sigh. He wasn't sure where her introverted personality had developed and thought it may have been his overprotectiveness. He felt responsible for her current state and was trying to encourage her outside and to meet people to see there was nothing to fear.

"You could maybe bring Osu over sometime, Acia always feels more at ease when in her own home and I wouldn't want her nervous whilst handling elements" he added with a slight chuckle. "She's as adept as a kitsune with her elements but... I think the Aerandir understand them in a different way to how we do.."

"Ah, I see." Ieyasu lay back on the sand, clasping his hands behind his head. "She probably wouldn't enjoy my company from the sounds of things. Although, if she would be able to help Osu with control, that would be good. I don't really want him burning down the house."

Osusuki stretched, his beak opening in a huge yawn. The fire was really pretty and all, but he was starting to get a little sleepy. The big ball of light in the sky was gone now. Rising from his position beside the bonfire, he trotted over to Ieyasu, chirruping softly (for him at least). Settling himself down beside his guardian, he nestled in the sand, curling his tail around himself.

Glancing down at the little gryphon, Ieyasu grinned. It looked like Osu was finally tiring. Looking back over at Alyosha, his expression turned curious. "So, they don't use elements in the same way that we do...?"

Alyosha nodded a little. "You're probably right" he agreed "I'm sure she'd love to have Osu around when he's a little older. I've often thought she'd make a rather good teacher with her love for children"

He stopped for a moment as he considered Ieyasu's question. "No it's... odd." he thought about it for a moment, trying to put in the correct wording. "They know their elements instinctively, as we do, but also seem to require a little more study." he said "Not just training" he added, to clarify.

Looking down at the little gryphon he began to feel a little sleepy himself. He yawned as he downed the last of his glass of vodka, laying back to look up at the stars. It was a fine, warm night. Comfortable in the sand. He could just sleep right here.
