Joe smiled at Siber. "Well hey, the way I see it, a lot has happened, so it counts."
He kept a hand on Siber's shoulder as the medics did their work, allowing energy from his store to flow into him in the form of healing energy in general. Siber's body would see it as it saw fit.
Joe was just stepping away when the elevator dinged open. "Son of a-" The rest of his statement was swallowed by the roar of his wind as he set up an impenetrable wall of wind in front of the elevator to keep the zombies back.
"What now? Legion has started his broadcast, and we can't get to the stairs!"

"No, they are. I felt the magic, they were somehow moved to the opposite end of the building," Josh explained, yelling over the roar of the wind that tossed the zombies aside as they stumbled into it. Sam pulled out his sword as Josh took off his glasses. "The worse news is, we've got a good forty zombies on this floor if I'm right, and worse than that is that's just this floor... and I bet you can guess where the others are waiting. But, oh well! Drop the shield, let's do this s**t!"

~~

"Your governments likely have their own divisions against those such as myself," Legions voices continued, being transmitted to every TV in the world, regardless of it was on or off - or even if it had power - and whether it was capable of connecting to a given channel. Magic was, of course, the merger of Reality and Unreality, so naturally logic and physics were being pushed aside a bit. "By those such as myself, I mean users of magic. Observe, any attempt to change your channel will lead to another image of one of my faces. As well, attempt to memorize my facial features or take a picture of me; your memory will not succeed and your photos or videos will be not only inconsistent with others, but with themselves. I will give an additional proof of my magic later - one you will not be able to claim as a falsity."

"Now, as for the process of your submission to me..."

Aurelie was suddenly on her back in the station room, staring up at a ceiling which seemed to be spinning as little flashes of light careened around her vision. After a few deep breaths she came back enough to look around and realize she hadn't dreamed falling into shadow but was in the room with Legion and the others.
She saw the newest recruit pushing buttons on the console as zombies worked too, before Legion's words rang out in her ears as a camara magically lowered itself to capture his visage for the world.
Though listening intently to his speech she moved gingerly and hissed through her teeth in pain as fire speared from her ribs.
, came Apolline's growling remark. Surprised, Aurelie realized that the movements of her left arm were indeed rather jerky, and wondered why that pain didn't feel as bad. Then reaching up she felt a knot growing on the side of her head not far from her temple, and felt a few cuts on her head and side, which had already stopped bleeding. She knew she would have plenty of other bruises later, but she didn't care to take inventory now. She was simply glad it wasn't worse. Something had to have shielded her somewhat from the blow; perhaps Legion? She didn't know, but realized that he was still in his speech, and the building was shaking.
Apolline laughed suddenly, making Aurelie wonder if she was crazy.
A half smile formed on her lips before she slumped against the wall. Not unconscious, but Aurelie suddenly felt the beating she had taken, going white around the mouth for a few minutes. Holding her side she shifted until she was sittting propped against the wall. Looking down she noticed she still held the fire pearls in one hand that Legion had given her and wrapped her fist around them. She still had a few left. She looked back at Legion then, giving her full attention to his speech.

Joe waited for a second, then forced the wind outwards, hard.
It slammed the zombies into the walls, crushing a few heads and rendering other zombies incapable of movement.
"Go!" Joe shouted over his shoulder as he dashed down the hall. Already in his hands were twin fireballs, which he began to blast at any zombies that got too close.

Paul paused for a moment. Zombies. What abominations. How lovely. A tinge of red seemed to cross over the world, dying the empty eye-sockets a terrible dark red. That needed some solving, and it could be done very easily with exploding pistol rounds.

As soon as the wind barrier broke, Paul began. Methodically, he squeezed the trigger upon every slow step he took. Each round was aimed carefully but quickly, and each was was fired with maximum planned efficiency, bullets plowing into skulls and blowing them to shreds, while others took them to the neck or chest and lost significant amounts of flesh there. Chunks of drywall, wood, plastic, and glass spun across the room in odd patterns, some powerfully enough to embed in other surfaces, only to be blown away to some far side of the room again. Rubble spread quickly across the floor, where the floor was still entirely intact, combined with a gruesome ((fruit)) medley of zombie appendages. Not all his shots were kills, though; those who lost limbs were apparently unhindered, although those who lost heads found it difficult to prey upon their prey.

Siber watched the mayhem for a while and used the time to fill up another energy reserve as Keldan seethed silently in the background. It was not the most aesthetically pleasing maelstrom he had ever encountered- many of the zombies were very clearly fresh, given the sickeningly discolored blood that flew out of them with Paul's blasts (which were impressively effective).
Sir Ajna? My name is Siber; may I ask yours?
My name is Monoculous,
answered a contra-tenor voice. It was dangerously cold, but it sounded more like a prosaic thing, rather than adopted just for Siber.
Pleased to meet you, Monoculous. If I'm not mistaken, you're my resident sniper, are you not?
That I am.
Will you help me?
Sure.

He raised his voice over the noise. "Guys, I don't know how many rooms we have to go through, but I have a way to do this in waves. I can summon someone to take down the zombies in the next room while you recover, if you need to, and then you take out the next one while I do, and etceteras, and so on."
I'd like you to hit the zombies' weak points just hard enough to take them down; a bit harder than a chuck on the shoulder.
He felt a nod, and began chanting under his breath, waiting for an answer.

Joe stood in the center of the hallway, doing his best to keep it clear for the others. It wasn't looking too hot, until Paul and his hailstorm of bullets began teating into the zombies.
Joe ducked a ricochet, then decided it was time to get moving. Keeping low, he began running up the hall, using wind and fire to keep the zombies from getting near him. He reached the door at the end of the hall, into the next room, when Siber began to shout his plan.
"Sounds good to me!" Joe called back, his back up against the door as he blasted with all his focus at the wall of zombies. Without them being able to surround him, he was able to keep them well back, but even his stock of energy would begin to deplete eventually.

"I'll clear a path," Alex shouted, and he walked forwards with his arms out, a slow but unstoppable force tipping the zombies over as he went to the door. "Watch your step!" he called out. Josh stomped on a zombie's head, ripping its jaw off with his shoe.

"I'll clear a path," Sam responded with a laugh. He raised his blade and began delivering enormous, freakishly clean slashes, severing zombies' heads effortlessly.

Are you ready?
Any time.

Siber dashed through the mayhem, a knife appearing in his hand to deflect any errant zombie fragments as he followed in the wake left by Alex and Sam. He focused his energies on the blade and it gleamed pleasantly before a dæmon of a sickly yellow colour, flapping about on bat wings and observing from a single, impossibly huge red eye in its head, which was most of its body mass, faded into existence. Before Siber could completely register the summon, it faded again, only to reappear in sight-defying succession next to each of the next thirty or forty zombies in various juxtapositions and stab them with knife-like hands, dropping each without fail. It faded with a happy twirl for the last time and left Siber breathless, but easily standing amidst the shredded corpses behind and the whole ones before.
He turned to the others. "You can go on ahead; I'll stay back and catch my breath."
Nicely done.
Indeed.

((hmm...that demon seems oddly similar to one imay have encountered in final fantasy. xd ))

Joe took a few deep breaths after Siber's demon, Alex's Blitzkreig, and Sam's blade destroyed the rest of the zombies. He had started to get winded towards the end.
He nodded at Siber when he suggested that the rest move forward, mentally sending him a bit of energy. Then, he turned to the door and kicked it in, revealing the next room.

((whatever's in there is up to you, venom.))

Chaos shot Legion a sheepish grin, folding her arms across her chest.
"Military assassin. Have to remove a few surveilance tapes and reroute video streams occasionally, plus getting around some serious security systems and so forth. I picked up a few things. "
Damien huffed impatiently.
She growled a colorful reply before turning to look at the other female, who looked seriously worse for wear.
As Legion began his speech into the camaras she slipped over to the girl, offering a arm to help her sit straighter. Careful of her wounds she dusted a bit of concrete dust off her shoulder, raising an inquiring brow. "Go out fighting did you now?"

Tremors shook the building, though it gave no sign of collapse. Gunshots and explosions could be heard, but sounded so far away and dim she had to focus to hear them. Chaos stood, not waiting for a reply from the girl before going to stand by the door and peer out. She guessed Legion was safeguarding the level they were on from the hunters and messing with them while doing his worldwide speech. Seeing nothing interesting she turned back inside clicking the door closed, going to stand by Takeshi.
"Are you alright?", she asked softly, not disturbing Legion. She had worried he may have a concussion or broken skull from the impact of the hunters hitting his head before she got him out. She knew she had bruises down her sides and back, and scrapes across her hands and arms, though they seemed to be healing rather quickly. She was a little sore, seeing as how they had thrown her against a few buildings and knocked her out before Legion teleported her, but she was just grateful he got her out period. Reaching up to touch the knot on the back of her head she grinned. Damien harrumphed, still calling her colorful names in some old language.

Paul stopped for one thing, and one thing only. Swapping magazines. He did it without dropping the first to the ground; instead, he pocketed it, but with more grace then "he pocketed it" gives it. It was done with practiced speed and skill, as was the replacing, and then he was done, following close behind Joe, his fury still as terribly fueled as ever. The tint of red was still tainting his vision, and it was making it hard to concentrate; he might be difficult to stop, but he was bleeding off the self-induced fury, and soon he would just be back to shooting. Every moment of anger-fueled shooting gave him an advantage, and so he kept moving, using every bit of what he had.

Aurelie looked at the girl a moment in surprise without talking.
she thought to herself, hearing Apolline snicker in response. At her words she fumed, resisting the rather wolfish urge to snap at her fingers and growl, though she glared at her retreating back as she went to look out the door.

, Aurelie hissed, firmly locking her mind to the warlocks words. La petite my arse, she fumed silently.
Crossing her arms she turned back to watch Legion finish his speech.

Joe found the next room to be... not-full-of-zombies. Rather, there were just four, lined up against a window.

"And now," Legion's voice boomed, "To demonstrate my might... I am going to steal Los Angeles."

"Oh, sh-" was as far as Alan got when he realized what was happening.

A red light shined in from the window now, replacing a clear blue sky, but the skyline was intact.

"-it" Alan finished. Josh, Alex, Sam, and Alan each dispatched a zombie without damaging the window. "We're now in the fourth tier of the sixth pillar - that is, in Crossover. Essentially, we're one dimensional 'floor' above what you call Hell, and to the side of another place that's roughly as pleasant.

"Think about Crossover as a series of rotated cubes, kinda like a pyramid with an upside-down pyramid stuck to the bottom, and floating in nothing," he explained. We're on the lowest slice of the upper pyramid, plastered against hell and touching corners with an area that we're going to avoid like the plague."

"So, all of L.A. is in Crossover?" Alex asked disbelievingly. "Un-freakin'-believable. Even Legion can't move this much matter intact."

"He set it up in advance. He must have," Josh pointed out. "He got the Shadowmen moved out because their magic grounding countered whatever thaumaturgy he had waiting. He's been planning this for a long time."

"So what now?" Sam asked.

"For now," Josh replied bitterly, "We still need to go to the top of the tower and-"

At this point, the glass exploded inward and some... creature... began flapping around. It was the size of a basketball and had five (yes, five) bat wings at haphazard angles. It dodged all attempts to kill it and simply flapped its merry way to the previous room.

"That's why I hate this part of Crossover," Alan spat.

Interesting creature, Siber thought, following the bat/bird/dæmon with his eyes. "So the happy denizens of L. A. are currently in contact with severe jazz? If jazz were redefined as everything beyond the societal norm?"
He gathered that was so.
His cell phone rang. "Captain Sparrow!" he answered gleefully, making his way with the rest to the nearest functional way up.
"What the hell is going on?"
"What a funny way to word that question!" he said in sing-song voice. Covering the receiver, he asked, "Is the elevator still functional, do you think, or should we scale the building from that window? I imagine I have something that could lift us, since we're so close to hell- it'd probably be easier to summon."
The other end of the phone sounded. "Don't jerk me around, kid."
"Okay, so how about this? We're about ten spiritual feet from Hell, if I've got my information right, and-"
"I already know that! I just stabbed a mosquito the size of a mini-van to death. I mean what are you planning on doing about it?"
"Um... breaking television. Part of it, anyway."
"You know I have to watch House every Tuesday, right?"
"This shouldn't cause a problem."
"Oh. Well, good luck; I have to go see if I can stuff this pterodactyl with enough sedative to keep it here until you get us back."
"Have fun!" He hung up.
