A crumpet is already porous and nooked and crannied on top, you don't cut it open. Tastes delicious with some butter, it's also sweeter than an english muffin. Less bread-y than an english muffin, too.
An english muffin is cut open to eat (generally speaking), although she didn't specify what it was called back in the UK. Both are UK originals.
3nodding Coupled with the fact that I just had an english muffin which tasted nothing like a crumpet (]=< very disappointing muffin, too, ******** american brand s**t), I'm pretty certain now that they are different entities and not just different names for the same thing.
