Ariane frowned, a look of disgust on her face as she grabbed her pendent; the horsemen will pay for this, sooner or later. It's always up and down and up and down with them.

Humans can be roaches too.

"I won't deny that something is wrong with me," The baku suddenly piped up quietly behind her friends, her expression anxious. After a moment of pause, she shook her head, "But that's not...what I wanted to come up to say."

She turned her attention to Shun, ears drooping as she gaze flickered between the reaper and the portals. "Lizzy is right. The anger that some of us feel aren't directed towards the innocent humans, but to the hunters. And the horsemen, do you..." She paused, and then lowered her voice, "Do you honestly trust them? Maybe it seems like you're fighting for a common goal now, but what will you give up if you swear allegiance with them? What if they ordered you to do something that you did not want to do, but could not reject?"

No, the baku still did not trust Medea as much as some of the other students did.

There was a point there, but a part of him was wondering if that was just something he could brush aside for the sake of what he wanted.

"Xiu... she merely has power now," he said lowly. He almost sounded resentful, "Others do as well. You saw how the horsemen and their allies moved. They have strength that I don't have."

It was then that he heard Xiu cut in. Turning sharply towards her, his glare fell upon his little sister now.

"Sometimes sacrifices must be made," he said quietly. He wasn't sure exactly what sorts of things he might be ordered to do. Kill innocent humans? While it certainly wasn't his preference, he figured it wouldn't be something he couldn't do if it came down to it.

"So far.. .the horsemen have proved to be more trustworthy than any hunter I've met," he muttered under his breath, then turned towards the two portals. Perhaps he should just dismiss everything and just walk through on his own.

Lizzy shook her head, "That wasn't Xiu. I don't want to lose my friend to power." If that's the price, she would rather 'power' be forfeited. Hearing Xiu's voice, she perked up, turning around to give the Baku a hug, glad to see her safe and in one piece.

Xiu made a lot of sense, but Shun was still unwilling to go home with them...

"Have you actually given a hunter the chance to talk before you attacked them, causing them to retaliate? Have you tried getting to know them?" She asked, unwilling to budge, "There are good hunters, just as there are bad hunters, and there are hunters who side with the students."

Amphi shuddered as she stepped from the sidelines of the fight. Somewhere, somehow...She couldn't remember how she ended up here but she had. Instead, she focused on the decimation of hunters as horseman took up ranks.

And it hurt her. She never wanted this. Even after all they had done to her, even after the tagging...The hunters had helped her...Or more so..Wash had.

She would not let Wash fall because of the horseman.

As swiftly as the mermaid could, she took one of the hunters with two scythes on his jacket in her hand.

"I'm sorry Human hunter but...I know we are not on friendly terms. One of your hunters is my friend and I wish to help you guys. Will you take me back to the Island with you?" It was a plea from a mermaid who wanted less death then anyone else. She looked hopefully at the hunter.

Wilson clenched his teeth as more horsemen appeared. They were surrounded by a sea of black. He frowned, placed one hand on top of his goggles and pressed them against his face. The command to retreat was painfully obvious, but still the hunter looked back toward Allan. Surprisingly, Caelius was absent, but that suited him just fine. What about you? he wondered silently as he tore his gaze away from the sun leader, surrounded by the horsemen. Allan was the sun leader. He would be fine…maybe

He reached for his pendant, but someone took his hand. Despite the film of green, he could tell it was a student. Wilson frowned, but listened as he pulled his hand away. “Are you sure?” he asked after a moment. “You’ll be greatly outnumbered. Possibly on your own, even. Will you take that chance?” Reluctantly, he offered his hand this time and waited to see if she would take it. Maybe she would change her mind and return back. Maybe she wouldn’t.

It was somewhere around the 34th text to Remi that Thackery decided staying behind, just waiting for the others to return, was not going to be an option this time. He was getting a terrible stomachache from all of the worry, sitting patiently where Medea had spoken with them all, pangs of danger! radiating through his chest.

So he'd gone bounding after them, leaving messy pawprints as he slipped and skidded through the snow. He tried not to think too hard on the reason behind all that red among the white, or the strange feelings that cycled through his mind.

The keys around his neck jingled as he stopped, alerting those remaining of his presence.

Something was wrong here. Very, very wrong.

Whimpering, ears pinned back, he pawed at the foot of a nearby Hunter.

"Did they hurt you guys? I thought...they didn't, did they?"

Amphi looked up into the green goggles of the hunter before gulping. Leaving meant leaving Danny and Roch and Her other friends. At the same time though, Her friend Wash...who had helped her escape...who she couldn't help the first time the horseman attacked...

No it was her heart who decided that one good deed would never be enough for what he suffered for her.

"I don't mind being outnumbered. I am sure your leader will be glad to see one of the original canidates back anyways." She nodded as she took his hand, warm for a humans before looking at the puppy student.

"It looks like I'm not the only one that thinks the same."

Something pawed at his foot and he looked down. Wilson pressed his lips together. “They did just the usual,” he answered hesitantly, “but maybe more.” He turned back toward the crowd of horsemen and thought of Allan. “We’ll see.”

Wilson snorted at Amphi. “Caelius, huh?” He sounded bitter. “But if you’re one of the “original” students then I suppose he may be inclined to be “lenient.” Alright.”

At the mention of not being alone, he looked back at the dog. He bent down to pat him softly on the head. “Alright, I offer you the same deal. If you are fine with being outnumbered, I’ll take you.” Wilson stood back up and gripped his pendant. “Ready?”

Amphi nodded and closed her eyes.

Back to the island again...Jack.

"Ready!"

Maybe more? Thackery didn't know what he meant by that, but he'd seen what happened to some of them before. And if it was worse...

He nodded to them both, almost apologetic.

"It's okay. We come back if something bad happens to us. But humans...you don't. You're more special. So there's gotta be more of you than us for it to be fair, I think."

His stomach was in knots, and he couldn't tell what came from Remi and what might have been...no. She was probably safe. She knew how to handle herself.

"I'm--wait! One second!" A quick blink of black-to-purples and a boil sat crosslegged in the snow, already fishing his eyephone from his pocket. Chewing his lower lip, he poked out a message, pocketed it again, and assumed his much more adorable form once more.

"Okay. We can go now."

“Well, such a darn shame there isn’t more of us, but I don’t think I’d like to wish a hunter’s life upon anyone.” He grimaced.

Wilson nodded to Amphi.

The hunter shot Thack a funny look as he suddenly transformed into a humanoid form to type out….what appeared to be a text message. B|a

He shook his head, sighing. “Okay then.” Wilson bent down to pick up the puppy. “Let’s go.” He reached for his pendant.

A rumble, a toss, a rough landing, and some confusion. And then he felt it: a burst of pure power.

When Mort's head stopped reeling, he realized that the Hunters were on the run once more and - dear sweet Sally, the number of horsemen! He stared openly at the teeming masses of what the orb had brought back, horsemen from all clans returned from - from the dead? Were these the ones they had lost on the Isles?

They . . . They had been part of the Phoenix, Mort remembered, shaking a little. Born of the undying Cores mixed with Insanity into a cocktail of Jack knew what. Yet here they were, alive and well and brimming with new power. The zomboil continued to stare even as he got up, thoughts sluggishly pulling themselves together to create coherent questions. What exactly had the horsemen lost? How much of it had been gained today?

Was this too merely a special circumstance, not a true cure for Insanity? He didn't want to get his hopes up, and yet . . . It was impossible not to sink a little into the revelry, into that warm feeling resonating in his Core - as if he knew were he to walk up to one of them, they might greet him as a friend instead of a stranger. Maybe someone knew personally of what he and so many others had offered up to bring them back.

The sense of communion was far, far too appealing to ignore.

One last check first, however. Mort lumbered over to where Bells had fallen and helped her up, and wordlessly pulled her into an embrace. He'd watched her stroll up to the hunters and horsemen and deal with them both without so much as a bat of an eye, and he had a feeling she would have done so even without the momentary surge in power. She could handle herself; he had to admit that now.

But at least she was safe. He'd seen the last a hunter had unleashed and would have rushed over in a state of mixed fury and desperation if his witch had been caught in it, before the land had shaken and the resurrection began. And now was a time, if any to rejoice. So Mort just held Bells close for a little while, empathetic to the horsemen who would soon be hugging their own loved ones. Separation was an awful, awful thing, and though he could only speak from a short experience in comparison to theirs he knew it could be a very painful one.

With a short kiss to her forehead, Mort briefly peeled away to check on Alex, whom had thankfully found Sophie in the chaos. He probably could have mentioned something like the importance of sticking together, but that much was obvious. But it was clear they had a lot of explaining to do for the poor first year, who was probably very confused unless Alex had given her a thorough run down of what was going on. Chances were he hadn't yet. "Up for eyescream after this?" he asked the three with a faint smile that was mostly tired and tacked onto his face for appearances. "Think have stuff t'talk 'bout . . . But first, one more trip."

It was left open on purpose; Mort wasn't going to speak for where Sophie would end up now that there were two portals to pick from. She might be a first year, but it was also her choice to come with them or wait at Amityville. Just as it was still Belladonna's choice to follow him or go home. But he didn't want to be so vague with his own intentions anymore; he wanted to take those baby steps forward, to let the witch know what he thought even though he was awful about expression.

He took her hand and without further ado began walking towards the portal to the Lair. She could still say no and go back to school if she felt, but at least in this he was clear.

He didn't want to shield her from this part of his life anymore.

Amphi opened her eyes only to look at the humanoid Thack before smiling. Another student...at least she wouldn't be alone.

"Don't worry Wash, I'll come help you..." She whispered as they disappeared.

Far from halloween.
