Rose of Battle Sheena

Sheena sighed. "I cant say I dont. You just fit the description, and were there at the time. You cant blame me for doubting." She said with a shrug. "Besides, if you wernt the guy, wouldnt you be mad and trying to prove me wrong right now?" She asked. He seemed the calm type, but she wanted to see what he would respond with when she said that.

"O-of course. Of course. Just have to act natural," Azriel responded, repeating the advice Chiaro had given her earlier. She nervously tugged at the collar of her coat and let out a deep sigh to calm herself down. "Ah, then we can check that pawnshop later! The church is near, along this side of the street, isn't it?" She started to look around for it, not quite remembering exactly where it is.

Sheena nodded. "Yes. Just up this way." She said, heading for the church, but not trying to move to fast. The guards were a problem in a fight when grouped together, and Sheena didnt have the entire group with her, just a few people. She sighed, moving at a normal pack. The guards were like flies gathering to a corpse.

Cain answered Sheena's question, "The only way to prove you wrong is to find whoever really stole this jewel. If I tried to do anything else, that'll just look bad on me." He walked in the back of the group as they headed towards the church. "It's a good thing the pope was revealed as to he really was. He was a sprout from the seeds of discrimination."

Azriel felt some relief in being covered by her friends that way. Sheena in the lead, Cain watching the back, and Oro at the side. However, as they came across a street adjacent to the path they were going along, another condensed crowd bustled through their way. People passed between Azriel and the others, forcing her to shift and dodge in ways to keep her wings from touching people. Among it all, she could only find Sheena going farther away.

As soon as the crowd had passed and she found ample room, she started to quicken her pace to catch up...but a guard stepped in her way. She avoided eye contact and tried to step around him, but was approached by another guard. Still avoiding eye contact, she turned around to try another way, only to find a third guard blocking her. "Damn it..." she muttered under her breath.

Pointing their weapons at her, the guards began to edge her in a different direction, into more guards. "Come quietly, young lady, and maybe things will be easier for you."

Azriel tried to play dumb. If she tried to defend herself that would indeed tip them off that she was the one they were looking for. "Wh-what seems to be the problem, sirs?" she stuttered.

"Don't try to play us for fools, Fractured Soul," said the old man behind her with a smug, scathing tone. He reached out, his hand finding her left wing. "Just as I thought, the demon must have taught you a trick to allow yourself to walk among people."

Cain walked back to find where Azriel went and mumbled to himself, "Now where did she go?" He noticed the guards around Azriel but couldn't see her, "Oh, excuse me. You wouldn't happen to have seen a stunning young woman about this tall, would you?" Cain held his hand out evening her height between it and the ground.

Cinkel was searching down a path when he accidentally bumped into a someone in a cloak. "Oh, pardon me." Before he knew it, the person was gone. There was a bag on the ground at Cinkel's feet and he proceeded to pick it up. "Looks like he dropped something." When he opened it to see what was inside, a rounded, blue jewel the size of his fist landed in his hand. "Oh, didn't quite thought to find it that way." At that moment, he found himself surrounded by guards.

The two guards that Cain approached were ones who weren't all that well informed about the situation. They weren't told yet that he was one of the people trying to "protect the Fractured Soul." They lowered their weapons for a moment, turning and cocking an eyebrow at him in suspicion. They had moved out of the way enough to reveal that Azriel was at the center of the commotion. "And what would this young lady look like?" one of them asked.

The old man had walked in front of Azriel now. "When His Majesty received word of his hired help's disobedience, as well as the appearance of a demon, he sought me out. I personally think it was a little foolish of him to put his trust in a boy similar to you. The demon in him is probably trying to help out his ilk..." He gripped her right under the chin. "But you can't fool me. Whether your wings are visible or not, I can always identify you by this accursed artifact." Focused on the trembling Azriel, he didn't notice Cain.

"Oh, yes. That would be her." Before the two guards to left up their weapons again, Cain slashed at their pressure points, just below their helmets. Before the others noticed what happened, Cain had the old man's neck at knife point. "Now if you don't mind, I suggest that you step aside. It just doesn't look right for an old geezer like you to be ruffing up a young lady such as her."

Finding the blade to his throat, he released his grip on Azriel, who stumbled backward but caught herself before she could accidentally bump into the other guards' weapons. She rubbed her neck where the old man gripped her, breathing nervously.

The old man's heart began to race, but he maintained a calm expression. "You're ill informed of the situation, boy. You cannot think of her as merely a young lady anymore. She is possessed by a demon."

While Cain held up the old man, a couple other guards moved in, attempting to attack him with their spears.

Cain held his other knife in the direction of the guards, "Missed informed am I? I think the information I have hits the truth dead center. As it looks, you're more of a monster than an actual demon. This young lady has not a mean bone in her body. Now, as next elder of Heimdal, I order you men to put down your weapons. Before things get a bit messy."

The guards who were attempting to attack Cain stopped in their tracks when he admitted that he was the next elder of Heimdall. The old man signaled for the rest of the guards to lower their weapons, but began to fumble with shaking hands for something attached to his waist---a scroll. He unraveled the scroll, revealing a sketch of Oscuro in a previous incarnation, its features the same but more masculine than its current appearance.

"This is what lurks within her! How can you think that is not a demon?" he retorted.

Azriel reflected back on a suggestion Sheena made earlier. Try to pass as an angel... she thought.

Chiaro picked up on what she meant. "Azriel, are you certain that's a wise decision?"

"You must not see many demons. Or any for that matter. That "demon's" shape is too human. Demons may have some similar human features but that takes nearly an entire form. Perhaps you should do some homework before you go around accusing people of being possessed."

Back at the castle, Cinkel was in a cell. Being accused of being a traitor and a thief. His bags hung on the wall near his cell along with his coat and hat. He sat on a bench with his hands shackled in front of him. "Well, Cinkel. You have managed to be finally thrown in jail. What do we do now, Malphas?"
It's not that hard for us to escape.
These binds won't let me use any magic. Neither you. Malphas cursed silently.

Not about to be swayed by Cain, even suspecting that he was lying, he added, "Very well then. It is inhuman. And it goes around devouring souls. Clearly, it is at least a thing of evil."

Azriel stepped forward, saying firmly, "No, it is not. I'll prove it to you. Would an evil being tolerate the other one that lives within me?"

"...Another being?" The old man raised an eyebrow at her.

Chiaro was a little hesitant over the idea. "Azriel..."

"It's worth a shot!"

She began to stand still bearing a peaceful, zoned-out expression on her face. The color of her irises shifted from blue to red. Her wings began to shimmer, ending the effects that Cinkel put onto them. The left wing grew white feathers and shifted into a more avian structure. Her hair turned paler and grew wilder in style; her skin turned pale as well. As she grew at least a foot taller, her outfit shimmered and changed into an ornate military-styled version of itself. Finally, a halo of light formed above her head.

The old man stared up at the now manifested Chiaro in wide-eyed shock. "A-Angel...?"

Chiaro merely stayed silent, folding her arms and glaring condescendingly down at the old man.

"W-well...this changes everything..."

Oscuro and Azriel sighed in relief.

However, the old man continued boldly, "This brings light upon the rumors about the Cruxis Organization!!! The woman is a Half-Elf...this must be evidence that Cruxis indeed was a herald of false Half-Elf Angels who sought to dominate us all!!! SEIZE HER!!!"

Chiaro facepalmed; Oscuro and Azriel gasped in sheer surprise in her mind. "Oh, for crying out loud..."

A guard lunged for her with his sword, but Chiaro remained calm. She stepped aside quickly enough to dodge, grabbed his blade carefully with one hand, and snapped it right off. The guard dropped the hilt in shock. Another guard came at her with a spear, which she also dodged and grabbed ahold of, snapping it in half and throwing it down to the ground. A third guard tried to approach her with a morningstar, whirling it in the air. Chiaro made a yellowish aura envelop her hands. As he swung it at her, she caught the ball in one hand and chopped through the chain with the other. As Chiaro dropped the ball beside her, the guard who wielded the morningstar dropped the handle, also in shock.

"Please, stop this foolishness. I really intend no harm," Chiaro said with a concerned expression.

Cain put away his blades and crosses his arms into his sleeves, "You really don't do your homework, do you, old man? Cruxis has already fallen by Lloyd and his companions. Cruxis's main base is floating empty in space. I have high doubts that Cruxis even exists. Their leaders are dead and every angel of Cruxis are gone as well." He seemed irritated. "Why do you try so hard to case her trouble?"

Rose of Battle Sheena

Sheena was fumbling through the mass of guards, trying to get back to Azriel. "Just what are you doing?" She asked, noticing an old man. "Hey! Its not like we were stealing anything! What is your problem?" She demanded, keeping a low profile on this. She noticed Azriel change, and for a second, balked. "You didnt! You.. You've awoken Spiritua! You've doomed us all!" She said, trying to play along.
