((The next morning the two Hunters rose to continue their journey. With light conversation, they pass the hours it takes to reach their destination. When they finally arrive to the town they will instantly notice that it looks deserted and not well maintained. Dust blows freely through the main street in a sudden gust of wind, and a few doors and window shutters bang in a loud symphony of emptiness. Nothing else seems to stir... not even a bird...

(( Let's pick this up! ))
Kiro scanned the structures around him as he and William entered deeper into the town. An eerie feeling overcame Kiro now that he finally arrived in the designated town specified in the mission briefing, a feeling Kiro doesn't get too often on missions.
"Why is it every time we come to a town or village it's deserted or seem like some kind of ghost town? It's like there's no life outside the Corps." Kiro commented quietly to William. "And I don't like the feeling of a Hunter going missing. It doesn't happen too often." Kiro added and then paused before wedging in one last comment, "I'm not the type who can deal with hostage situations if you know what I mean."

"I know what you mean," William said, his hands resting near to the grips of his weapons. "I don't like it either. One of our own, taken or fallen on a mission. It just doesn't sit right. On the other hand, though, he is a scout, they generally work alone. And even though they are trained to avoid and escape they do sometimes get caught. "As for no life outside the Corps. that's just because of the fiends and their spirits. It's our job to protect people. The only problem is that a lot of the time by the time we get called in it's already too late." William stopped, and listened. And heard nothing. Nothing except the wind. This place was starting to creep him out. "C'mon, let's check some of the buildings." William led the way to the nearest door. He paused and flicked his wrist, sending one of his many concealed daggers to drop out of his sleeve and into his waiting hand. Then standing off to one side, he pushed open the door.

Kiro sprang into his nimble state and jumped onto and off a barrel and onto the ledge of a window. He then pried the window open and went inside to check the upper portion of the building William began to enter below.
The room Kiro entered was a bedroom. It didn't appear to be in any use since dust was indicated on a nearby desk. The sheets on the bed were spread off the bed and across the floor. The door to the hallway exiting the bedroom was closed almost all the way with just a few centimeters of distance from the door and the wall.
Kiro quickly made a stealthy dash for the wall and hugged it tightly and shifted closer to the part in the doorway to peer through into the dark hallway.
(( I don't know what kind of enemies to expect! ))

William paused and listened. Everything inside the building was silent. He crept inside, keeping his dagger hand ready, his other rested near to the hilt of his sword. He examined the room. This was obviously a living and dining area. There was a table and chairs in the center of the room, a wood burning stove sat to one side, and a desk with a bookcase next to it sat against the opposite wall. There was no sign of anything living. William slowly stepped into the room, carefully so as not to make any sound. He moved towards the table, there was food set out in simple bowls. Some sort of soup or stew. It looked as though it had been there a while, it was congealed. The chair next to the desk had been knocked over. William creeped past all of this and towards a stairway at the back of the room. He began to ascend, making sure to keep his feet to the outsides of the steps, so they'd be less likely to creak.

((As the two Hunters search the house, they will find very little evidence of violence. Small things will stand out to closer scrutiny...an over-turned chair, a book knocked to the floor, a small hole broken in a window...small things that add up to something sinister...))

((Well, Raolain is narrating here, so he's kinda in the character of the narator, but not in any of his own characters. So, yes, and yes... And yes... lol.))
Once William and Kiro were finished they met up outside the building again. "Looks completely deserted." William said. "It's actually kind of creepy. Do you think we should check some more of the buildings?"
((Short post... I couldn't think, Nick was rubbing on me...))

-At the end of William's question, a voice suddenly rang out,"Welcome brothers!" made all the more loud when compared to the stillness around them. A figure strode toward them with a large smile on his face and was wearing the scout uniform of the Hunter's Corps. He looked a bit disheveled and dirty, but was recognizable as Gregory Thames, the missing hunter Kiro and William were supposed to find...-

"Yeah, it looks like nothing is here." Kiro replied, but to turn to the loud booming voice in the silence. Kiro kept his hand ready to draw his katana. "Verify yourself with your corps dagger. Afterwards, explain why you went missing." Kiro demanded quickly.

William kept his his dagger in hand, and allowed his other hand to drop down and rest across the hilt of one of his swords. It was a casual stance, in appearance, but it allowed him to be able to draw and react with his blades quite quickly. "Yes, let's see your identification, than we can discuss the specifics of why you never reported back to HQ." William said.

Gregory stopped and eyed both his Hunter comrades askance at their odd behavior, though his grin didn't lessen. After a moment, he shrugged and drew out the small dagger they asked for. "See? I have it right here. And you'll have to forgive me, but I was visiting my mother and must have lost track of the time...what day is it anyway? I can't be 'that' late. Besides, my mother might still need tending. I can't just leave her."

Kiro's tension eased on sight of the dagger Gregory had shown for his corps identification, but still felt fairly uneasy. "Your mother? You should do that after you report back from your mission." Kiro questioned Gregory's motives.
