Liah nodded once more while rubbing her hands together for warmth. "A little." She muttered, suppressing a shiver. Damon was now walking beside her. She contemplated about moving closer to him to stay warmer when she heard a noise off the path in the woods.
"What am I supposed to do about it?" The voice said indignantly. "It wasn't any of our business. You know that as well as I do."
Another voice answered, it was much smaller and higher pitched. "But it was so small. Come on Aden, it was just sitting there all sad like. Don'tja think we should go back for 'em?
Just then two small creatures came into view, both walking through the snow as if it didn't bother them at all. The larger of the two was a red fox, his dark fur contrasting with the white snow. The other was a smaller ferret, gray in color. They were only slightly off the path and Liah decided to get closer to hear what they were saying. Both were walking away from her, so they wouldn't notice. They were too wrapped up in their own conversation. Before she moved too far away, she motioned to Seirei, inviting him to come.
"What would I do with a little thing like that running around? He'd likely eat us when he got older. Come on Rufus, think things through before you act for once." The fox seemed irritated about something, for he murmured something along the lines of "Ferrets and their impulses." Afterwards.
"Yeah...you're right." The ferret sighed, seeming disheartened.
Liah, who had edged closer to the two unnoticed, was very curious. "Excuse me." She said, clearing her throat. Her voice was light, so as not to scare the animals away. "What are you two talking about?"
The red fox turned, looking quite bewildered. "How did you sneak up on us like that?" He questioned, not bothering to ask how she could understand them.
The ferret seemed less startled. He was the one to answer. "We saw a baby lynx not far away. Just a tiny little fella. Seemed like he was alone too." His voice dropped, suddenly sad. "I guess he was abandoned. I didn't see no mother around. And he was so skinny. Looked like he'd been alone for some time. Poor thing." With that the ferret started to walk off, too consumed with his thoughts to say anything else.
Doing the equivalent to a shrug, the fox trotted off as well after his companion.
Liah frowned, watching both of them go. The thought of a defenseless Lynx cub made her heart heavy with grief. "I have to go save that poor thing." She said, forgetting momentarily that Seirei had no idea what was going on.

The earth rumbled and quaked as the group grew closer to the mountain side. Smoke slowly began to fill the sky above the towering Volcano.
Ramiel looked at it grimly a moment before pressing forward, his face carrying no emotion "Time is short, we must hurry" was all he said as he trudged through the snow, wrapped tight in his cloak, his long hair blowing in the wind as snow began to fall heavily from the clouds, irritated by the contents of the smoke.
Falon mumbled and continuously cursed the snow as they trudged forward. He shivered repeatedly, the sound of his teeth chattering just hidden by the howling wind. The Sage would never set foot in another cold place in his life after this if he could help it.
Azurai trudged through the snow, keeping just behind Sintariun, seeming strangely comfortable in this harsh weather when only wearing a thin cloak. Why was he so at home in this cold? One would expect quite the opposite from a being who once called the desert home.

Zen shivered badly in the cold. He hated it. Possibly the only thing that kept him from collapsing was the thought of reaching the warm volcano. Of couse, it might get too hot there. But he didn't care. Just as long as there was no snow. Once he heard Ramiel tell them to hurry, Zen felt like he wanted to sprint to the volcano just to get out of the cold. But then he rememberd that the volcano was going to erupt. Well, it's either freeze to death outside, or burn alive in the volcano. Choices, choices, choices. Zen thought to himself.

Tori tightly wrapped her arms around herself, trying to stay as warm as possible. Even though they were getting closer to the volcano, she was still ice cold. A shiver ran through her spine as yet another harsh wind blew againts her body. Hearing Ramiel, Tori quickened her pace so she wouldn't fall behind. It was harder for her to walk in the snow, being as short as she was. As she followed the group, her mind kept drifting away but she often shook her head to bring herself back to reality. This isn't the right time to get lost in thought, she thought pulling her cloak tighter.

Sintariun kept glancing back at Azurai worried about him and his passive state wondering if she'd done something wrong or something was up with him. Tempted to stop and check on him then saw Zaid's intent gaze and knew that her friend was watching over the Sand elf as well. Sighing, Sintariun turned and lowered her furred ears back. She'd transformed to keep warm in the weather and her panther form provided complete protection as well. Her green cat eyes scanned the terrain wondering what was going to happen at this volcano. Hearing Ramiel, Sintariun jogged slightly trying to make the others hurry up.
Zaid watched Azurai making sure he wasn't going to try sneaking off or try anything with Sintariun. Noting how the elf seemed so out of it, Zaid was tempted to nudge him to try and wake him out of his stupor. Gazing at Sin in her panther form, the elf recalled a memory of when Sin had first transformed into a feline, she'd been so scared she wouldn't be able to transform back and in the end she did fine. She was strong she just didn't give herself credit but what she was and still is, is naive and that's why he was here for her, to protect her as a guard and friend.

Alwyn wrapped her own clothes around her makng sure they were held fast as she too began to hurry along. She ignored the pain that was creeping into her fingers and toes from the cold. Her face she had wrapped to help keep it warm. She would be lucky if she didnt get frost btten.

Stopping suddenly as they reached the side of the mountain, Ramiel took a step back and brought his head back in a familiar way as he inhaled. Moments later as he jerked forward a cloud of scorching fire emitted from his mouth, melting the snow into nothing but a puddle.
And now, fully visible, was the entrance to a cavern, once buried under the snow. "This way" Was all Ramiel said as he stepped inside, opening his cloak once had had entered. When the others looked ahead, they would see the dim glow of fire, it would seem they were now inside a live Volcano.
Seeing the entrance Falon practically cheered before running inside. His cloak was gone in moments and he rushed slightly ahead of the group into the area where the warmth of the boiling magma began. He however tried not think about where the heat was actually coming from, he was just glad to be warm again.
Azurai shrugged off his cloak and walked forward, his long strides taking him passed everyone quickly as he stood beside Ramiel "So its this way?" He asked, not seeming to even look at their red clothed companion. A nod was all Ramiel gave before the sand elf was off. When the others grew closer, they would find an unexpected sight. It would seem that this wasn't the entrance, but the entrance to the entrance. Before them now stood a pair of immense steel doors, that some how managed to remain completely cool in this heat.
Azurai whistled slightly as he looked the doors over from afar and then got close "Hmm....magic...locks a type C...these should do it" He said to himself as he removed a set of picks and a knife from his belt; with that the elf got to work, each movement silent and perfect even to those with an untrained eye. Azurai truly was deserving of his title as a Rogue.

Alwyn walked in through the doors and could see the rogue fast at work picking locks. She smiled "do you need any help with that?" She asked as she watched him.

((Sorry for my absence))
Sari toddled behind everyone, once again in her bulky suit of dark matter along with the hat Ramiel had given her, which she had begun o take a liking to. She had forgotten to buy an outfit for the cold while in the village, but she really didn't mind since she would probably never wear it again. When she saw the doors she quickly ran towards them, stumbling once or twice. Once she got inside the dark matter surrounding her disappeared and she took of the cap and put it in her rucksack. At the sight of magma she couldn't help but giggle because of the question she had asked back in the forest. She wasn't the least bit unnerved by the sight of the magma, even though she new perfectly well it could kill her.

Realizing that the rest of the group had moved on without her, her worried expression turned to one of panic. "I can't leave it there." She fretted. Just then, she noticed Asteria flying above them. "Asteria!" She called, too frantic to use the mind link. Having over heard her conversation, Asteria gave a call of understanding. "Be careful..." She whispered, but her friend was already flying toward the place where the fox and the ferret had come.
Almost growing sick with worry, Liah rushed back to the path, forgetting momentarily about Seirei. Damon was waiting for her, the snow having collected on his thick fur. "We have to catch up." She told him. He nodded, having already realized this. She mounted him and got ready for his speed when she suddenly remembered her friend. "Seirei!" She called. "Get on, we're going to catch up."

"Heh, sorry lass but you've got a lot to learn before you could help me with something like this" Azurai said, a pick sticking out of his mouth as he fiddled with the other and his knife. Suddenly with one quick motion Azurai leaped to his fit and kicked the door. With the squealing creek of ancient hinges the door moved back slightly, just barely enough for someone small to make their way in. Azurai gave a sigh "Ramiel, little help here?" He said, looking slightly disheartened with his eyes closed, not bothering to look back. Though it wasn't quite noticeable, Azurai was clenching his teeth, trying not to show any signs of the tremendous amount of pain in his foot right now. Apparently the latest thing to be added to his list of things to never do again was kicking thousand year old metal doors.
Not speaking a word, and with little look of exertion or effort, Ramiel placed both hands on the left side of the door and began to push. Slowly as it dragged across the ground, the door moved, opening full as Ramiel made his way all the way passed it. Inside the group would find a single long rocky path, winding this way and that above an endless pit of boiling lava.

Sari went to the door frame and looked at the lava below. "Looks deadly." She said with an eerie amount of cheerfulness in her voice before taking off down the path. She had no fear falling; she was a nimble and even if she did fall she could easily catch herself. Besides, she was never one to think about what could happen, so she never worried about things like falling to her death because she didn't think about them.

Damon's powerful body sped through the snow at an amazing speed. His muscles rippled beneath his fur as they touched the ground lightly before springing back up the next instant. The girl on his back seemed perfectly comfortable with his movements. Her body moved with his as if they were one.
In no time, they were caught up with the rest of the group who was now entering a large gate which lead into the mountain. Liah stayed on her companion, knowing that he was more surefooted than she was. Just before he was about to enter, Liah heard a familiar call. Turning, her face lit up when she caught sight of Asteria with a small bundle in her talons. She watched her friend soar down to meet her, hovering in the air before placing the lynx kitten in her outstretched arms.
The kitten was shivering, his body curled up in utter terror. "Shhhh..." Liah soothed, stroking the soft sandy fur. The kitten was tiny, it seemed very young. Liah guessed he was only a few weeks old. Once he was calm, she watched him bury himself in her arms. It was still cold out and he was still shaken from the flight. "Here." She whispered, opening her jacket and hiding him inside. He seemed grateful to get out of the spotlight.
"There was no mother?" Liah questioned, watching the others head inside the gates. It was then that she noticed lava was boiling aside the path. 'Poor Seirei.' She thought sadly.
Asteria shook her head, looking forlorn. 'I saw a den not far away from him. His mother was curled up with two other young ones. They...were gone."
Liah's heart tightened. "He was probably hungry." She whispered, shifting so she could reach her pack. The dried meat she kept was wrapped in leather and she took a piece out. "Eat this." She instructed, opening her jacket and putting it close to his mouth. He seemed reluctant, but after some calm insistence, he chewed on the meat.
It's time. she told Damon. He nodded and moved forward through the big gates and into the unknown.

Zen looked over the edge of the path that Ramiel had revealed. Just to make sure that the lava he saw was real, he picked up a stone and dropped it in. It landed with a splash and a hiss as it melted away. "Yeah. That's definantly real lava. Wouldn't want to land in there." he said as he continued to look over the edge.

Tori took off her cloak and jammed it into her bag before entering through the gate. She immediatly wandered over to the side of the rocky path and looked down into the lava. After a few seconds, she carefully backed up to the center of the path. Being somewhat clumsy, she wanted to make sure she would accidently trip and fall off the path though she wasn't too nervous about that happening. But, its better to be safe then sorry.
