Freelance web design and development is so not a glorious job.
Last June ( a full year ago ), I was hired buy this guy Mike to make him a website for his handy-man fence and railing company. We do work on it for a month or two, and then he disappears for about 10 months or so. Didn't hear a peep out of him. No calls, no emails, anything.
He reappears one day and asks if I'm still available to complete the project. I agree, and we do some more work on it, him still taking a while to respond to my emails every now and then.
The past five days or so, he sent 9 emails and called the house 4 times. Today I read the emails and get to the most recent one, which is him being pissed, telling me not to blow off my customers and demanding his down payment pack ( a measly $300, of which I've done much more work than is worth that ).
I didn't want to deal with it, so I had my father call him. Once he realized he wasn't going to get to talk to me on the phone, he shut up real quick.
I need to get out of the freelance business. x_o Heh.

Meriko *twitches over the Craigslist stories* Oh heck, I thought that place was just for regular buy/sell listings or job listings. @-@ I'm going to keep saying it...Squaresoft knows how to make the fangirls squee. "Zack undressing Cloud" is now canonical fact. *ROFL* T.T I want that game!
Alex: o.O Customer from hell. Archer: XD, I dont even want to look at our newspapers to see whats in them.

Happy belated, Jen.
-----
So I have found a flaw with the KH:CM game. Cards to open doors and sometimes needing specific level cards to open said door. I just spent an hour trying to get ONE level 8 card so I could open a door on Destiny Island!

I took sinus meds earlier, and right now they've got me on a sleepy medicine high. Add that to me doing lots of thinking about how the hell I'm going to move my future forward, and I seem to have gotten a tad depressed. x_o
I don't know what I'm gonna do for the rest of my life. I've got high hopes, but how can I get myself to achieve those dreams?
It's very hard to secure a job right now. I have minimal hired experience and no college degree, so a decent paying tech job is out of the question. I'm going tomorrow to apply to a general store, but it's only part time so I'll be lucky if the annual pay is $10k, pre-taxes.
My parents filed bankruptcy, so I can't count on them to get me a loan for college. I can't get a loan myself due to lack of credit, and I can't get that without a job. If I can get this general store job, and a credit card, and complete a few secured loans, I'm hoping that'll be enough to get me into the door of a third-party college loan office.
If I can do that, I have a chance of getting into college for fall of 2009. And I'm hoping that happens, as I've only got a few years to get my butt into college, because I have plans for things to do before I turn 30, and my 20s are going to zoom by before I know it.
My life is looking kind of bleak right now, and it's stressful because I have extremely very little control on pushing myself out of this dreadful state.
I suppose my next steps in life are to a) keep desperately trying to find a job, and b) make some decent software in my spare time to get some (albeit minimal) extra cash flowing in.
I don't even want to think about what'll happen if I'm rejected by the college I want to go to. x_o Dear lord so many hopes are riding on that acceptance.

So uh, I might have just found a friend from school when I was still living on the east coast... Now time to see if he responds to my PM on Facebook.
Alex: Scholarships/Loans to help through college is all I can think of. *hugs* Good luck with that acceptance.

Vin: Yeah, I'm gonna need to look into scholarships... Am I still able to get any even though I graduated a year ago, and by the time I apply for them, it'll be a year and a half since graduation? Already explained the trouble with loans up above though. x_o Sticky situation. *hug for you*

Hey everybody ^_^
Jen: Happy Belated Birthday~!
Alex: @_@ That sucks..
Have you looked into any of the scholarships that are available for you local area, or just in general? Most places have the Pale Grant or the Hope Scholarship. They tend to help with alot of the class expenses (not including books)
If I could, I'd give you some of my GI bill. I've not been able to use it because of the constant amount of work I have to do.
That, in itself, sucks. I really want to start working on my language degree. X_x

I would also look in to FASTFA, because they have money for people whose parents cant afford to help. And I belive that there are student loans that you could find... I cant remember what they are called, but I know theres one or two.
*tackles Peter*
