Lore stepped outside to see the children playing one last game before they left. He smiled as he moved aside for Elnara to pass.

"Everyone ready?" he called out to all of them.

Perhaps he should get them a freebise when they got back home.

Elnara slipped out past Lore and set the vase down on the porch for a moment as the children left their game and came to join her and Lore.

"Everyone has everything?" she asked them, looking and counting to make sure all five of them were there.

"Do we really gotta go home?" Celebor asked, sounding as if he already knew the answer to his question.

Ulrich chuckled and ruffled Celebor's hair affectionately. "Yes, you do," he told the boy with a grin. "But I'm sure your mother will let you come again. Wouldn't you like that? Besides, you have to go back to school, your mother told me. You don't want to miss that, do you?"

Ulani smiled at Lore. "I hope you enjoyed your time here," she told him sincerely. "And you know you're all welcome to come back any time you'd like. At since the time difference between our worlds is so great, Aliya will probably be quite a bit older by then, too!"

"I have, greatly," Lore replied back.

And he had meant it, he never would have thought he would have been comfortable among the company of so many elves minus Elnara and her brood, but that simply was not true. He was fine among Ulani and Ulrich and their family. Things here seemed like a dream, only he knew better than that.

"Okay, that's it, then," Elnara smiled. She gave her mother one last hug, then gave Ulani and Ulrich each a hug as well. "Thank you so much for everything!" she said sincerely. "I'll try to peek in once in a while and see what's going on, but I can't promise a lot. I still don't know exactly what the time difference is between our worlds, after all."

Celebor's eyes grew wide at Ulrich's reminder, and he nodded. "Yeah! I forgot about school!" he exclaimed. He grabbed Serenity's and Skye's arms and started dragging them off in the direction of the portal. "Bye 'Lani bye Ulrich thanks for letting us stay here I'll come see you again sometime!" he hollered over his shoulder, suddenly in a rush to get home.

Serenity waved back at them as Celebor dragged her and Skye off, out of the clearing and towards the portal.

Elnara laughed. "Yes, I guess it really is time to go, then," she smiled faintly. She picked up Idhril's vase again and held one hand out to Lore.

Lore took Elnara's hand gently as he followed back towards the portal. He felt now that he knew more about her than when he started out, and was slowly become surer of what kind of future he wished. He watched as each of the children went towards the portal, thinking of what a family it was.

He turned back for a moment thank those that had let him experience their life, "Thank you, I hope we'll meet again," he told them all honestly.

"And we look forward to seeing more of you!" Ulani replied brightly, waving and smiling.

Ulrich waved as well and called, "In both meanings of the word!"

Ulani smacked him upside the head, muttering to herself about insensitivity and embarrasing the poor kids who weren't even engaged let alone married.

Serenity laughed and waved as well. "I'll be sure to tell Gion what he missed," she assured them. "And I'll give him a talking to for not being here." She laughed again. "Bye!"

Elnara coughed a bit, then laughed. She gave Lore's hand a tight squeeze and smiled at him. "It's nice to know there are still some wonderful people left somewhere," she commented cheerfully, keeping an eye on the children who had all run ahead. "Isn't it?"

Lore coughed a bit as he chuckled, not sure whether to laugh or be throughly embarassed.

"It is," he agreed trying to get his mind off of that comment as he walked back to the portal with her, with Idhril in his arm.

At least it meant that he had their approval, though he didn't think he needed to know quite like that.

"You have to admit, though," Elnara smiled, "that you're going to miss Ulrich and his sense of humour at times. Certainly, he can be crude," she coughed again, and her cheeks turned a light shade of pink, "but he's actually a really nice guy."

She looked ahead and called, "Not too far ahead of us, now!" to the children who were nearly out of sight.

"I think..." Lore replied with a chuckle, "I shall miss more the result of his jokes when Ulani catches wind of them."

Watching the two interact had been more than enteraining at times, even if unfortunately it was at Ulrich's expense. Though it was quite good to see two people still being able to act like that after centuries upon centuries of marriage.

Elnara laughed. "Well, I doubt he minds it or else he would probably stop doing things to deserve it," she commented. "I'm just glad that he's like that again. Apparently he was pretty serious the last time Kara was here, when they brought Mother back to Gaia with them."

"Mama!" Serenity called from just up ahead. "Here it is! Come on!"

"We're coming," Lore called back as he smiled at Elnara's comment, "True, but it is interesting still," he admitted.

Though it did seem that Ulrich was in good spirits, if that had been the case earlier.

"You make it sound like marriages in Gaia don't end up like that," Elnara couldn't help but comment as she stepped forward to activate the portal. "Is it really so rare?"

Her fingers danced along the runes as she tried to remember how to do this.

"Let me help," Serenity offered, gently pushing her mother aside. "I know how to do this."

She had, after all, done it when she had accidentally ended up in Tor Karad that one time.

"Not rare no..." Lore shook his head, after all Yuki and Tristan were prime examples of what would happen even once they became too old to dance their dance, "It's just not something I get to see up close."

Afterall, it wasn't like he lived with any family with over a week if not more. When he had first met the family at the temple, the father had passed away, so he wouldn't have known.
