That time we met...

The night dragged on, even as the sounds of running feet bounced off the walls. Shouts and the sound of gunfire could be heard, even as a lone woman was seated within what appeared to be a drawing room.

She stared ahead at the unfinished painting, the figure of a hollowed out young man with raven hair left upon the canvas.

The soft thudds of bodies drew her attention away from the canvas and towards the doorway.

"Who's there?" Ashe turned her head staring, even as a pair of booted feet were seen standing in the frame of the doors. On either side of them, two guards were laying.

"....You're...Princess Finnes, right?" A raven haired youth with piercing desert yellow eyes stared back at her, his left arm outstretched. "You will have to come with me. Victor needs you."

Wordlessly, Ashe stood to her feet, closing the distance between the both of them. Flinching slightly when her hands came to rest on either side of his face, he stared at her.

"Is that... what your role is?" Smiling softly, she stared up at him. "I've been waiting inside this bird cage. So...let's go. Vahn."

"How... do you know my name?"

Vahn stood stock still, completely unsure how to treat the young lady, even as the sound of rushing feet soon brought him to twist to the left and catch the edge of a broadsword with his bracer.

Sparks flew as he came face to face with a a boy that could have been no older than Vahn himself; 14-16 at best.

"Damn!" The boy exclaimed, even as Vahn pushed out with his left arm, forcing the teen backwards.

Flipping once in midair, the boy went sliding to a halt.

"Is it a Prince's style to attack people by surprise?" Vahn questioned, even as several armored swordsmen began flooding the room.

"Nobody is allowed to touch my sister! Much less Murmillion filfth!"

Vahn lowered his left arm a bit, yellowed eyes taking in the group that surrounded him now. What should I do? Kill them all...? It would take me less than a second to get rid of them. Vahn glanced towards Ashe, a bead of sweat running down his cheek. However...

"He will strike diagonally, over his head in 6.2 seconds."

Ashe' sudden voice broke Vahn from his thoughts, more than surprised.

"0.05 seconds after that, make a straight line from your left side, there won't be any obstacles."

This is...

"I will... lend you my wings." Ashe stared up to Vahn, smiling as she clutched at his side. "If you do that, you will be able to escape 'without hurting anybody'."

Vahn's eyes widened, even as the young teen sprang forward, charging in just like she said he would.

Here he comes!

The Prince swiped downward, striking nothing but the flapping ends of Vahn's mantle, the cloth sundered even as Vahn was darting forward, carrying Ashe in his arms.

"?!"

Never stopping, he ran straight through the window, glass cutting into his cheeks even as he began spiraling downward. Speaking incoherent words, Ashe focused the arts within her body to form a pair of unseen wings upon Vahn's back.

Wings which spread wide, underneath the moonlit night.

"Outside! They won't turn around!"

"Reinforcements! Call for reinforcements, don't let them escape!!"

"We can't, it's too late!"

"Bring horses dammit!"

"This is a catastrophe-- the Princess has been---!!!"

The Prince stood by the shattered window, staring after his sister, his hand clutching the handle so tightly that it bled.

"....What do you intend to do....?"

"Hurry up Prince Henry!"

.......

"I knew."

The sound of the lake was placid, sunshine beaming down even as Ashe made the final stitch into the mantle. "Because I saw it. You didn't want to hurt anybody."

Vahn stared down at her, mouth slightly open as his arms hung by his side.

"You are swaying, between your role and yourself." She lifted her head up, staring to the cloud filled sky. "I am the same. That's why I came here." She swiveled her body to face him, smiling brightly even as she tossed his shirt and mantle back at him.

"Here! It's finished!" Her laughter filled the air, even as Vahn caught the clothing, lifting it to his face.

She's an intriguing woman. But those words violently permeated my heart. She saw through everything... with those eyes of hers.

"...Smells like cinnamon..." He said softly.

I'm a... killer. A killer can't hesitate about the way it lives. But...

The sound of hoofbeats, broke his thoughts, as he looked to where Ashe was staring at.

"It looks like they came back..."

"We found it, Vahn. Right where she said it would be." Holding onto the reins with his left hand, he raised his right arm high, leather bound strapps holding a severed head aloft.

It didn't look a day old from when it had left it's owners body, and it looked far from human. Blank yellowed eyes stared out, as shocks of black and white hair decorated it's scalp, what looked to be horns sticking out of it's cheeks.

"We met again after 6 months. Father's head!"

Another memory nudged Lucind's mind at this point. A fresh one. Victor's words swam beneath the mental surface which played Ezekiel's 'report':

"There was a war.... a very vicious war between two people. The Murmillions and the Zelandrians...both of whom lived on the Continent of Nybelmar. One side was born from the darkness...and the other light. You know how the old saying goes."

He waved his hand about. "However.....my brother and I....we had our disagreements with...our father. And our father..... we killed him, in battle. Flesh of my flesh...blood of my blood. He who we called Draeger... That's why killing him was unforgiveable. Us 'inners', the Murmillions who rebelled and joined with Zelandria, we will never be forgiven for carving into our bodies.....the karma which we cannot escape from. To atone for our sins with death....My brother's slaying of a 100 brethren and.... my....."

In addition, something else occured to the Half-Siren. Something she would have to ask the boy once he finished the transmission.

::Kaym suspected that it wouldnt take long before they found her, she had only wished she got her only precious friend to saftey before so. She didnt even know Nathanial was still alive! Now, more then ever, she desperately wanted it to stay that way. Forever; as long as this planet still rotated.. she wanted him to live.
:The unconscious man was now still hanging high from her shoulder. Changing is body position was a smart thing to do, compared to the opposing new situation.

::Kaym had felt a presence. Hastely swinging her body around, she saw as she'd seen before. A black orb diving towards her in mid air, his feet need'nt touch the ground. The b*****d had a well known attribute. Flying in on his victim like a hawk was a well known trait.

Not this time. Kaym told herself, not hesitating; --prioritizing--; she put Nathanial on the ground and instinctivly stepped away from his body and closed her arms tight, already knowing what was going to happen.
If she had jumped away, avoiding the attack, Nathanial would have been put in danger again; being the first in his wake.
If she held onto him, and dodged, his body weight would given strain, also putting him and herself in danger. If she would have attacked, he was going at a speed -- he could easily dodge it himself.
the only plausable thing... stand strong, fill out the attack.

:She could feel the wind being pulled away - it was if he was traveling at a speed so fast it bent the atmosphere itself. Closer and closer! In a matter of seconds of recognizing the situation and acting it out... In that time, it took her only 5 new breathes before he struck. It was like a bullet train striking a fagile stone wall.

CLASH!

"...UGhhfehh...!!" Kaym grasped! Her arms held tight! Trying not to allow them to buckle from her bow. Urtivga, once again, the oncoming foe, --same as the time at the stadium had used the same attack. Stiking Kaym at an unimaginably speed. This attack is focused souly on the opponents chest and stomach. So just as kaym predicted, his outstregthed fists had struck her folded arms. But evenso! She was still being driven back! Having her boots being surfed over the sands' surface like a water ski, her face was getting closer to his once again as they slowed down. His fists closed to his arms; his hands opened, and he then grabbed Kayms' forarm with hisown.

"Hello Kaym..." / With that, something in her head twiched. Once again! With that annoying friendly ******** tone! Once again! He said the same thing as before! And once again it pissed her off just as it did before!

"Dont... use that familiar tone.. with me!" Kaym grit her teeth as her anger grew, her arms still covering her bow and face. "I'm going to rip you limb from limb. They aren't going to be able to find..you!"

"HO!... Strong words for someone who was met with. disgrace before!" He pushed harder, - testing both of their strength. Once again, his words angered her. How dare he speak to her like that! Rotten! No good for nothing! Inferior ...piece of work!

The words screamed louder and louder in her head; Crying out to her. Her anger surged and with that, her body temperature rose. The skin where her arm was being held grew warm, seconds after, hot. It was if an on switch in her body had finally switched on. Urtivga's hand began to sizzle. Steam, no... smoke from his charring hand rose, but not into the air... Like before with her sword, the smoke tainted air began to swarm around her arm, it was being drawn around her.

As soon as he reacted, he pulled his hands off of her and staggered back. But he was swiftly met with Kaym's right knee. She didnt waste anytime. as soon as he left her bow, she recoiled back, catapulting forward with an outright attack. - Shattering what was left of his rotten teeth.

"Get used to that." Kaym said to Urtivga, who was now in the sand only steps infront of her.

Urtivga wiped his mouth clean of the sand and blood with his black sleeve; His ugly eyes stared at her with a new interest. Shes quick. Faster then she was before..almost like the wind.. Why? He stopped, then instantly remembering Nathanial. His eyes widened as they gained a certain unknown fear. Kaym had seen his expression quickly change in the few seconds apart.

"Whats wrong Tiv? Did something scare you?" Kaym asked, now walking at a quick pace towards him.

"You have it! That scheming little.. I'm going to rip him to pieces.. after i'm finished with you!" After the words left his mouth Kaym had viciously jumped forward onto his body driving her faithful sword through his torso. "..Fehgg.." Tiv's eyes looked down at his surging chest then back at Kaym. "When,.. di you.."

She closed in on his face, her nose only a finger length away from him. "You arent going to see your feet again."

"Bitc..!AGFHH!!" Kaym twisted the sword through his gut, cutting his words.

"Shh..Is that attitude going to help ******** Y.AHH!" Kaym repeated her last action.

"Oh! That time i heard a snap. I'll do it again if you dont tell me what i want to know." She paused and looked over to Nathanial whom was actually a fare distance away. Then back at Tiv. "What are they planning?.. And.. why did you involve Nathanial? It had better be a good answer. Otherwise..." She twisted the blade more violently about his body. "Otherwise.. they arent going to be able to recognize your body."

Without answering, he spat blood on her face and smiled. :: Kaym also paused. Wiping the blood from her cheek with her palm and without hesitating further she retrieved one of the desert blades from its' buckle and went for his left arm - Slicing his hand off completely.

"AHHHG!" He howled. Kaym never took her eyes off his face. Even when she took his hand. The blade was sharp. So sharp, it only took one swipe with the blade to remove such a thing as his hand.

She held the bloody blade in her hand as she spoke. "I'll take the other one next... No.. never mind." She then switched the blade into her other hand and once again repeated the action. Indeed, what she was doing was sick, emotionless and very much brutal. What this man had done was by far worse of a crime to mankind. She was just returning the favor... "OH... whats that you say?" She rose her hand to her ear. "You don't like this method? WHY! You should! It's yours!" She then fully drove the blade through the remaining forarm, pinning it to the earth. Then did the same with the other, identical brother blade. "You remember all those children, dont you?... She stood up. "You should... There were only 30 of them!"

:She stepped away from his body, pacing back and forth, circling his body.
"I mean... You think im crazy..." She gestured a shrug with her shoulders and moved her hand to the new weapon. She pulled it out and continued her conversation.

Urtivga's eyes widened more as he saw the weapon. "....Rig..veda..."

::Kaym stopped. "Rigveda?" She stepped over to his head and looked straight down into his red eyes." .....What of it..."

Just then, something unexpected happened. Urtivga began to laugh. Uncontrolably.
What?" Kaym kicked at his head. "Answer me!"

His laugh slow died and he smiled at Kaym. "Go to hell." He began laughing again.

Jesus... She really didnt want to deal with him anymore. She sighed, inhailing deep and looking back down at him. "No..." She paused, looking up into the sky and then back. "I was already there. It's your turn."

----------- .......................................

::In returning to Nathanial's body, Kaym dropped to her knees and looked at his unconscious body. Rigveda was still in her hand, Her sword was once again sheathed and her BOD blades had also returned to their home by her side.
She gathered sand in her hands and cleaned them of blood by using the hot friction of the sand.
She didnt feel any sin from killing him. He got what he deserved. Her only remorse was caused by the time. If she had done it before, alot of people...children..friends would have never died. }
Course... leaving his shredded, headless body in the desert wasnt something to make up for it.

Karma...eh?

Kaym felt a warm breeze caress her face and shoulders. Sam was out there somewhere and she wasnt going to stop until she freed him. Just as he gave her freedom all those years ago.
::She closed her eyes and put her palms on Nathanial's chest, followed by her face to the top of her hands.

"I'll watch over your child, Sam." She kissed Nathanials forehead, closing her prayer. She then stood to her feet with Nathanial in her arms and continued on her way.

Those passing days...in Eden.

A reminiscense of a distant past.

The meeting with Ashe.

An exploration trip.

The result of which.... was father's head...?

And now... we're far into the sky.

The landscape was luch, rolling green pastures and emerald seas stretching as far as the eye can possibly see, going into the horizon.

Right in the center of the landscape, stood a tower that stabbed into the heavens. A very familair tower... before it would fall into disrepair and be left to seemingly rot.

There was no desert.... only... Eden...?

"How's it coming along?"

The voice queried even as the severed head was stared at through a container. Numerous runes were sketched upon it's surface, leatherbound straps and a metal harness holding it in place.

"Considering how long it's been since the incident.. I'm already fairly surprised at how well preserved it is."

A heavily robed figure stooped before the base of the structure containing the head, inscribing more runes.

"It's only a testament to the fact that he alone does posses that knowledge... the gift of immortality."

"Hah." Victor pressed his hand against the glass casing, yellowed eyes staring forward. "Even if it's just his head... it's still him. If we can extract his memories.. we can finally find a way to return our bodies to normal."

Vahn looked over to the robed figure, not wanting to look at the container anymore.

"By the way, what about Ashe? Was she able to help you?"

"I can't complain about getting an assistant, can I? Besides..."

Standing up and pulling back the cowl of his robe, he smiled a worn and weathered grin at Vahn. "...It does an old man good to have such young company."

"Pervert." Vahn turned his head to the side, huffing slightly.

"She's got good intuition and learns the things I teach her fairly quickly. She's quite the adapt mage, if I do say so myself."

"Hahaha, Dain, you'd say that about anyone." Victor laughed heartily, even as he gave a pat on the old man's back.

"So it was worthwhile to bring her along..." Vahn said softly, stroking his chin as he looked to the side.

There was a long stretch of silence, as both Dain and Victor stared towards Vahn.

"..What?" He felt his cheeks flush as he became nervous.

"Ohohohoho..."

"Hmmm, to think you'd have an interest in someone else..." Victor grinned at his brother, before throwing an arm around his neck. "C'mon, c'mon! What's with the blushing face, you're quite a ruffian aren't you?"

Vahn only flushed harder, while trying to escape from his brother's grasp.

"It's impossible to control you!"

Squirming out, Vahn waved them both off. "Not really..."

"Hahaha... you're a guy who doesn't understand jokes, as usual. Keep it up and you'll end becoming some kind of grumpy old man!"

"...Ohohoho... That's not it. He has changed a lot these past few months."

Victor's eyes widened a bit, as he listened to Dain.

"All thanks to that woman." The old man turned back to his work, humming softly, even as Victor stared at the retreating form of Vahn.

"......"

It's been two months since Ashe came.

She's not afraid of Murmillions.

Images of Ashe in common clothes, cleaning and relaxing with several others, doing laundry, reading books and even cooking are shown.

Because of that... we accepted her immediately.

Tyrus, Junzo, Dain and even Victor.

It was as if things had been like that since the beginning.

The days went by... days that were meant to be happy days perhaps.

"When a situation is more than one can grasp... well that's enough to put fear in any person."

He pulled away from Sunstrike, not wanting to be under such a varrage of questions.

"The real problem isn't this tower... it's being swallowed by your own fear."

He turned his head back towards Sun, yellowed eyes unwavering, before looking away.

"Even if you face something you can't comprehend... accept it!"

He walked back towards Tellus, kneeling by her side when he was there.

...Regardless of how you all feel... I'll make sure everyone makes it out of here. Game or not.

"...Ah...? Why... Is she so...cold..?"

As Raven touched the runic symbols once more, four of them lit up at once, before a distinct humming sound was heard, before dying away.

Accept...the unknown? I'm sorry Vahn...I'm not you...I know too much to just sit back and accept... The thoughts were a lot darker then his reply.

"I honestly don't know how you've managed to live as long as you have with those ideals, Vahn..." The voice sounded serious, but there was a spark in Sun's eye as he watched him walk away.

The worried tones in his friends voice made him change again as he followed and leaned over Vahn's kneeling form to have a good look at the girl.

"In a way that's Tellus' own acceptance. Her magic's been eating at her for some time...that can affect someone like a disease...her body doesn't know how to cope with it all. If we..." Sun caught himself. "Nevermind. C'mon, sooner we get out, sooner we can see about fixing the problem at hand."

Although she'd actually never seen the tower's remnants from the outside, Lucind knew she was just standing in this huge monument which faded into a sad wreck before her inner eye.

Immortality?

Return our bodies...to normal...

Another piece. And another one.

Slowly, the woman thought to see the outlines of a whole picture: the answer what was really going on here.

Ah, something's missing yet. Why---what happened between the brothers that they aren't standing together now. Vahn...he wants to safe that elf.
What made those two become enemies...?

Some ideas were already swirling in her mind, but she waited for what was to happen next.

Right...time to get this sorted.))

Sunstrike blinked in surprise.

"Again?" He watched as the runes flicker behind the red-haired woman. Pulling away from the rest he leaned over the wall, bent almost sideways.

His lips were moving, almost as if he were reading what was there. Delicate finger tips brushed the words, which reacted quickly.

"Hono...how much did you put into it?" Sun stood back and rolled up a sleeve. "I don't think..." A spark came to life in his hands, and he rammed it dead center into the wall. "It were enough."

Devil

I remember the sun rose just like any other day.

We had been through so much... and nearly lost it all.

"Is it really done, Dain!!"

Victor's voice rose throughout the hall, even as he burst into the room.

"It's done, of course. The runic retrieval of the subject's memories are 99% complete. All that is left is for me to translate the symbols."

"Well done, well done!" Victor laughed, even as he smiled a wide grin. "You sure worked hard for us old man!"

"Ohohohoh, to be honest, I couldn't have done it without her help."

Ashe flushed even as she smiled back.

"Well then--- Let's celebrate!" Victor threw both his arms around them, laughing as he walked them out of the room.

Even as the door was shut... the slightest glint of light was seen within those hollowed out sockets...

"Let's have a toast!!"

Victor held his glass high, even as several dozen other people filled the room, even more outside the hallway, nothing but laughter and chatter filling the air.

"For our freedom and future!"

The night stretched on...

Victor and Vahn sat on the outer edge of a broken down wall, overlooking a very familiar garden. With a soft clink, they touched their glasses together, in silent salute.

"Good job." Victor said softly, his head lowered.

"....Not really. I didn't do anything."

"Be happy, honestly." Victor laughed lightly as he lowered his glass. "400 years ago.. we were able to escape to this country thanks to you. You opened up the bloody path to escape."

Vahn's gaze fell, staring down through the flowers.

"I'm grateful, Vahn the Black."

Yellowed eyes closed, even as the memories began flooding in.

The clouds were tearing apart, even as a multitude of ships came crashing through. Hundreds upon hundreds of airships littered the sky, explosions going off amongst each other, even as many burnt to embers and debris.

"It's no good!!!"

"This is bad, we're falling!"

The voices shouted out, even as within the bridge of one such vessel, the pilots and other personel panicked.

The ships were nothing fancy, just what you would expect of such vehicles in an era (think FF airships). Steam issued out from broken pipes, even as fires raged, one station literally exploding in the face of an engineer.

"The engine output is collapsing!!"

"Put all you can into it! The second wave is coming!"

"No! We can't take anoth---"

A thunderous explosion, as the left 'wing' of the vessel was sheared off, resulting in the ship itself leaning sharply to the right, as it continued to descend.

"...What a number!!!" The shout went up, even as a gleaming forearm shielded itself from the spewing steam and remnants of the wall.

Standing there amidst the rubble, and holding onto a broadsword, was none other than Vahn. His raven hair was untidy and slightly longer than normal; entire body clad in what looked to be leather reignments.

The armour was already badly damaged and had blood along it's breastplate.

"Don't be concerned about the weaklings! We only need to defeat the high-ranking ones!!"

Victor's voice shouted back at Vahn, even as he staved off a plearm's thrust, cleaving it's wielder at the elbows.

"Vahn!!!!" The shout came from a nearby doorway, it's owner lurching to the side as he held his guts in. "The 3rd level has been breached... too many to count..."

The figure slumped to the ground, even as Victor shoved Vahn with his shoulder, out of the way of a axe's path.

"GO!!"

No... way!! That's where the sick and injured are... as well as the children!

He pushed forward, deflty evading another sword swipe, before running through the doorway.

Making his way down the hall, he passed fight after fight, picking his way along the bodies of the slain, before finally reaching a set of double doors.

"NNUGH!!"

Shoving them open with his right shoulder, he burst into the room, just in time to see an immense gout of flames erupt, the cries of the young ringing.

"GAAAAAAAAAAAH!!" Vahn lifted both arms up to shield his face, his left arm taking the brunt of the heat and simply absorbing it all.

Standing before him were dozens upon dozens of armoured knights, unscathed by the blaze they had set out upon the traitors.

Vahn stared down at the charred corpses littering the chamber, his arms held out as one young boy staggered towards him, even as his skin broke apart, bones breaking to nothing but ash before collapsing in his arms.

Vahn could only stare in horror and desperation, even as all the knights readied their weapons against him.

The boy crumpled into nothing but dust, even as Vahn's face contorted into an inhuman visage, his left arm glowing bright, it's talons gleaming.

When the sun rose again... Only Vahn was left standing.

Staring into the horizon, even as a swirling cloud of ashes left his body...

And that left arm of his continued to gleam.

"The memory is still impressed within my eyes." Victor smiled as he took another deep sip from his glass. "That was... a good sight."

Vahn merely continued staring down at the garden, watching as a small bird flitted through branches.

"....So many died." Vahn spoke softly. "We were the only 6 Murmillions who survived. Us sinners. A multiltude was sacrificed so we could be standing here right now."

He raised his left arm, which was gloved and heavily wrapped at the moment, hiding the monstrosity underneath.

"When I think about it, I get the bad feeling that this is a horrible lie. Everything....even my own choices."

Victor's eyes slanted towards Vahn.

"Forget about it." Vahn looked surprised as Victor suddenly stood up. "Thinking is not your role. That's my job. We... have to keep moving forward. That's our responsibility as the survivors. That's all that matters; even if you face something you can't comprehend... accept it."

Vahn felt a rise start up inside him as he stared to his brother.

"Isn't it our duty to give something back to them as well?!"

"The dead don't have any demands, dear brother. Pity is something we have no luxury for."

~Elsewhere~

"!" Vahn's head lifted as he the odd humming persisted and reverberated through out the chamber now. Gears shifted and wound, as something seemed to attempt to...activate...open...close...rise..?

"Hey... what are you---?" Vahn turned his eyes on over to where Raven and Sun were.

The runes upon the 'clock' seemed to fill nearly completely, 9 out of 12, before dying back down.

It almost seemed as if the floor where all the statues were littered, was trying... to raise itself?

He remained by Tellus' side for the moment, trying to keep her body warm.

Tellus clutched at Vahn, much like a child would a security blanket. "S...so cold..." Now this was odd....the girl seemed not to be aging now...but becoming younger...she was already small, but she appeared to be shrinking somewhat...her legs were still long, but the toned muscle that was her body appeared to be going away, giving way to just a wee bit of baby fat. She barely looked any older then her own children.

oh, brilliant Sun 4laugh , I just wanted to know what it did... so lest go then xd *Sun had started it, and Hono happily gave it another charge in hopes of actually getting somewhere in this place for once. laughing suddenly as something occurred to her* It has an elevator after all blaugh ... lets take the express...
and hope that the brakes still work sweatdrop *A touch was all it took, but there was enough power on that touch to ignite a fair sized fire ball*

"H-Hono?! Wait it's...!!" A puff of smoke issued and there was a painfilled sound as the floor jerked and shot upwards, knocking Sun over in the process.

"Ah--!"

I.. why can't I...?

An odd sensation overcmae him suddenly, a familiar feeling yet fleeting and unknown all at once.

A deja vu.

Shaking his head clear, Vahn watched as the central platform rose up from the ground and began making a head way upwards.

Without the rest of them apparently.

"Hey shouldn't we be----"

Yet just as quickly as it went up, it came crashing back down, the statues littered upon it's top jittering but never toppling.

Out of the seven statues within the chamber, 5 of them were right atop the platform.

Apparently, the 'elevator' was overweight and could not rise.

"Tellus?!"

Vahn had already noticed a little too late, staring down now at the... child in his arms...??
