Alexi, if you want a fighting guild, I suggest you go here:

This guild is just for the Tournament alone, much like HoH had it's own guild.

6 PM tonight? or tomorrow?

Would I be at a computer if I was going to be there at 6PM tonight? That's like... 4 hours for 1200 miles.

I'd have to speed like a ******** to do that.

There is nothing you cannot do.

At least someone has confidence in me. biggrin

Seriously, though, I need to be here for my sister's graduation tonight... then I'm leaving as soon as I get back, or within an hour or so after that.

15-18 hours after midnight + 1 hour of timezone = 4-7 PM. xp

With enough time to go to 7-11 at 7:11 p.m. to debate with the clerk as to why gas costs too much nowadays.

I wonder... I should find Sieg and have him do a professional wrestling match with me, just for the hell of it.

Jelloman
And then one in passing:
The Fierce Deity
Fierce really hasn't run into anything he couldn't punch through and/or toss across the battlefield, and his energy attacks are likewise impressive.

I have one character that I'd like to describe as the most physically strong 'person' in existence. Though even to that I'd have to throw in clauses and whatnot... not like he's the strongest thing ever, since things much bigger than him could very likely lift more, and people who are powered by 'ki' or 'magic' to give themselves super-strength might be stronger. However, in a purely physical sense (meaning, having no abilities/superpowers to enhance things), I'd consider that character the epitome of physical strength.

Though the middle of that paragraph is really what this is all about... Beyond a certain point, the physical aspect of characters is no longer really physical, but metaphysical. They use powers to enhance the physical aspects of their characters... speed, strength, jumping ability, and how much they can withstand.

As you describe, Deity has insurmountable physical ability and magical ability, fueled by ki (a metaphysical energy). You could drop a building on him and he'd shrug it off. However, you throw in an anti-magic field around him which negates all those bonuses, and a bodybuilder from South Beach will punch his lights out.

...just thought I'd bring that point up. There's the real physical limit of things (the point at which the output of the muscles reaches the limit, or surpasses the limit of the body and the stress of trying to perform certain actions damages the muscle and bone structures), there's the exagerated limit of monsters and other such creatures (who we can assume have much more durable bones, skin, and such, as well as a higher mass/strength output for muscles), and then there is the point where it's simply... unnatural.
...well, while most of what happens in an RP can indeed by seen as metaphysics (it's fiction ::shrug:: ) the fact remains that magic isn't ki, nor is ki magic. At least not from whence Deity hails...most types of energy aren't as related as much as one would imagine anyway. Maybe Deity is just nitpicking, but it just bugs him when people refer to life energy as magic....though he is up for correction.

Using a magic- or energy-nullifying spell or field around Fierce actually wouldn't hinder his power at all, only his method of using it. His energy-based attacks would be cancelled out and useless (if the field dispelled the use of energy manifestation), but his physical strength wouldn't drop a notch; he might not be able to fly anymore. It's not like Fierce (or any ki-user) is normal until he powers-up for an age and a half and then can eat mountains. One has to build their ki slowly over time...eventually, the only reason to charge energy is to reveal the amount of power that has been hidden from the enemy. When a ki-user is at full power, that is them when they're at their norm, not the other way around.

'Sides, you can't just multiply your highest level on the spot unless you have studied and fully understand ki control...even then, the multiplied energy is used immediately, 100% of th'time. For instance...using a ki ball that is .05% of your maximum strength would only sap a small amount of that from your body, as you added onto your strength before quickly releasing it. This is how all energy attacks using ki are done...

...physical strength, however, is different. Yes, it's possible t'do th'same thing, and, instead of manifesting the energy physically, unleash it with an enhanced physical blow. However, if what your statement puts onto the table is true, it is an insta-kill move. Nullifying ki energy destroys life, as that is what ki is...you can't bring someone's ki down as if it was an enhancement. Maybe if it was some whacked move that switched your ki energy with the opponent's...in which case, if your opponent was much more powerful, the massive amount of power would cause your body to pop like a balloon. So if a field has the ability to erase ki, everything within it would instantly die...now, cue a moron who will invent this move and try to use it numerous times. =P

...and, uhhm... < <;; [nitpicky]

Jelloman Also
As you describe, Deity has insurmountable physical ability and magical ability, fueled by ki (a metaphysical energy).

....as far as Deity's characters are concerned, that one (Deity) is th'normal one... > > ....Fierce would stomp him into the dirt like a little girl.[/nitpicky]

...but that's beside the point of this post, actually... >-<;

I don't understand, how for fifty pages, you've only discussed what is/should be accepted in RP.
All side conversation aside (since it never lasts more than ten posts or so), that's basically been it.

Ed was right, you guys need lives.

It must be some sort of bad thing that Deity finds that funny... . =;;

Yes'm.

What I was getting at though, for those who like to argue semantics between magic and ki:

Ki is energy from the body, though it is also used to describe energy from the spirit. Energy purely produced from the body would be purely physical, which would mean that for every bit that was exerted, an equal amount would need to be taken in in order to replenish it... so unless your spleen dual-functions as a fusion reactor, you'd have to eat unendingly for days.

Energy drawn from a 'fighting spirit', or spirit in general, though, is very much the same as any other type of magic you find. Metaphysical energy, whether drawn from a character's own spirit (in the instance of demonic or holy power, or whatnot) or the environment (through elementals and whatnot), is sort of an enhnacing aura or whatever you'd like to call it that has a completely separate effect than a body's normal function.

What I was saying is that this energy, whether physical or metaphysical is an enhancing effect upon a natural physical state... Even in DBZ, when they got tired or beat up and ran out of ki, they could no longer fly or fight, and got exponentially weaker because their enhancements weren't quite so... beefy.
