Here an entry I made for this contest at my Library's anime club.
The criteria for the contest is that it has to be cat themed, Because first place is a donation in your name to the Snow Leper Conservation.
I chose to draw the cover of the Great Catsby vol 3 by Doha with a quote at the top.
"Instead of keeping an annoying diary, I'm happy to have some one I can cough up my life to. Every day, without missing a single detail. That's you."

Not a great picture, but the left arm is complete except for the hand. You can see the wire armature still where the hand will end up being.

The right arm is going to be a bigger challenge because I'm going to have to remove it after sculpting. It will be cast in a separate piece from the rest of the body.

Aww he isn't Brainy De Milo anymore!

I'm very pleased with how it's turning out, but I have to start over on the base. If it turns out VERY well, I might cast duplicates to sell.

Hell, I'm surprised you didn't for the Zinda! That was amazing! Wait... or did you? Out of the loop on that one. Anyway, awesome work on it. I would totally buy one.

Yes, yes I did. Only Marty was interested. I traded it to him for art.

I actually do have the mold still for Zinda (and either one or two casts already made, I don't remember) but nothing painted.

Well good on that. If you make a secondary mold of the Brainy quote me a number or we can work out a deal. I'd love to have some of your work.

It's all going to depend on how the base turns out. My plan is for it to look like Computo's head, but if that winds up being too sophisticated for my primitive casting abilities, I'll have to come up with an alternative plan.

Well if it is possible, again, would love one.

Selina, Your sketch looks wonderful. I hope you find your missing art!

Oh! I like how the arm turned out Linda. And the belt. Glad you back up plan worked out. whee

*Crosses her fingers for ya, for the rest of it.*

Right arm is in place. Needs more work on the cuff area. I've actually already removed this arm from the sculpt so that I can finish it as it's own piece.

I've started work on Brainy's left hand as well.

The reason the right arm is going to be a separate piece from the rest of the body is a casting concern...when you make a mold of an object you have to be wary of 'undercuts,' which are places where air can get trapped after pouring the liquid resin into the mold. Doing that arm as a separate piece will help remove some of those concerns.

I never got a shot of the pencils, even though they were a facinating mess to sort through. I think I need a new eraser.

Well since I had a fall out with my D-bag artist, I've scrap pretty much all his characters and such. So I'm making a new cast in my own favor. My friend Jeff drew these for me, I really wish he would draw my book, but he is too busy with school.

Long story short: My soon-to-be nephew's middle name may or may not end up being Thor. In either case, it's a nickname he'll be stuck with for life along with Spider (don't ask...).

What kind of aunt would I be then if I didn't attempt to geekify this kid out as early as possible?

Homemade and quickly done, but with love!

The baby shower is tomorrow after all and I wished I had thought of this weeks ago...
