The cat's eyes widened at the mention of milk and shrimp. Quite suddenly the cat was out from under the cart and winding himself around CJ's legs, purring and rubbing himself against the man as affectionately as could be.
Misty chuckled as she watched him. "I believe that would be a yes."

C.J. smiled, with a light chuckle when the cat darted out and was rubbing up against him. "Wow, I oughta keep some a' that around. A'right, li'l guy. Let's go." he said, picking up the cat and holding him.
"Well, this is a good start, hmm?" he asked before lightly kissing Misty on the cheek.

Misty smiled and put one arm around CJ in a light hug. "I think so." she replied, moving her other hand up to give the cat another scratch on the head as he continued to purr in CJ's arms.

C.J. smiled as he got ready to head back to the rear car. "Man, ain't they in for a surprise." he said as he held the cat. "Well, we got us a big day tomorrow. Let's try and get some shuteye, and we'll get situated tomorrow. Sound good?" he asked. It was going to be a big day, already started thanks to Elephants and Amplifiers.

"Sounds good to me." Misty replied as she walked with him back to the cart. And the cat just continued to purr. A good pet and the promise of tasty food was always an easy way to turn him from a mischievous little plot device into a loveable little kitty.

C.J. smiled as he held the cat as they made it back to the rear car. Putting the cat down to help Misty up, he smiled for a minute . . . he felt something he hadn't felt since he left sanity . . . a sense . . . of family . . . or it was taquitos. Definitely Taquitos!

You're darn right they like milk and shrimp! the cat thought as he curled around CJ's leg once more before moving out of the way.
Misty smiled as CJ helped her up and into the cart. Once she was in, she moved out of the way so that CJ could close the door, and gently tried to cover a yawn. It was still in the wee hours of the morning after all.

Y'know, we shoulda thought of this before! Appease the cat, then Arell wouldn't have gotten captured by IO (and be less of a homicidal douchebag) and potentially be al-

True dat. By the way, stock up on taquitos . . . I think they ain't coming back for long. At least not Arell. Dun' maybe.
"Riiiiight."
C.J. smiled back and climbed back up, stretching as he fumbled for his keys. "Lessee here . . . car back in home world, Arell's gun locker . . . not sure what that's fo- AHA!" he said and found the key, opening the door one more time for them to get through before he closed and locked up for the night.

Misty smiled, then climbed back into the car as the black cat hopped in ahead of her. "Well...I don't know about you, but I'm ready to get another couple hours of sleep." she said as she turned and waited on CJ.
The black cat curled around her legs, then meowed impatiently up at her.

C.J. smiled as he locked the door. "I'm with you, sweetheart. I just hope there ain't any OTHER disturbances." he said with a smirk as he took off his baseball cap and hung it up on the doorknob, closing it and locking it behind him. Stretching a little bit, he got a pillow and a saucer of milk for the cat before getting ready for bed again. He took off his shoes and steadied the hammock for Misty. They could sure use the rest.

The cat mewed at CJ one last time, then curled and purred around his legs as the man gave him a soft bed and food for the night. The moment he stood and moved away, the cat was bent over the plate of milk, purring and lapping at the milk as content as could be.
Misty smiled at the thing, then carefully slipped off the shorts she had tossed on to go outside. She doubted sleeping in them would be the best thing for her stomach...didn't want another trip to the hospital because she constricted herself. Leaving them on the floor, she gently crawled into the hammock as CJ steadied it for her.

C.J. smiled as the cat purred and lapped up the milk and Misty got in bed. For once, there was a sense of family here. Not just Dundee, him and Arell running off on adventures, but actually like people lived here.
Smiling, he slid in the hammock next to Misty and put an arm around her . . . it had indeed been a huge day.

Misty sighed gently and nestled up close to CJ as he slid in next to her. This definitely wasn't what she was used to, but she hadn't felt this...at ease...in a long time. Felt like she didn't need to look over her shoulder non-stop or was on her own. She had someone again who was willing to take care of her...even if it felt like she barely knew him. At the moment though...that seemed to be a completely microscopic little problem.

C.J. relaxed as he closed his eyes, holding her close to him . . . ever careful not to squish his surrogate kids. He calmed into a lull of sleep. At last, they found peace for now . . .
