There are only a handful of Konaga in existence in the ninja world... and if you had never met me, or met another Konaga... I doubt you would know anything at all about the Clan... or even that it was a clan, excepting the fact that it is part of my name.}}"Yojin bunshin no jutsu?" Shinji said with a confused look on his face... "Why on earth would you learn that skill before learning any of the others? I mean, it must have taken forever without understanding the underlying basics of Katon in the first place. I'd like to find whoever was giving that class and speak to them on the very basics of teaching students. Well anyways, if that's the only Katon skill you know, we're going to have to rewind and teach you from the beginning."
Instructing Gage to take a few steps back, Shinji cracked his knuckles and began to go into teaching mode... "You see, ninjutsu is not simply making hand seals and forming a technique. without an intimate knowledge of your element, you'll never be able to truly master or utilize it fully. Sure, you might already know Yojin bunshin no jutsu, but do you really understand it? That's what I'm getting at. Anyway, let's get you started on the basics and then we can build from there. without a good foundation, a ninja is nothing."
"Lesson One: Katon: Ichi. This is the basis of all Katon jutsu more or less. You must draw chakra from your inner core, the part of you which allows you to wield the Katon element and shape it's direction to your hand. Using the proper seal, this can be done easily, and for now, just focus on getting the Katon chakra to flow to one finger. More fingers will come later. Once it's there, you should feel a good amount of heat building up, and then that's it. It's a good technique for cutting through rope and is so easy to perform, that it can be quite utilitarian. Obviously, not that great in combat, but you've gotta start somewhere. Here, watch me."
Placing his finger in his mouth quickly to wet it, Shinji formed a single hand seal and then held his index finger up in the air so Gage could see. slowly, his finger began to get hotter and hotter as he channeled the chakra from his inner core until a bit of steam began to rise form his finger. before long, the saliva had dried up completely, and Shinji took out a kunai, dragging his index finger across the bottom wrapping around the handle, watching it singe apart and fall to the ground. "There. Now you try."

" Kenji said, as Shinji closed his eyes. Kenji thought something as wrong. When Shinji opened his eyes and smiled, Kenji was sure that he was fine, just a fairly odd dramatic pause. But then again Shinji in and of himself seemed... off to say the least. Like there was something different about him, yet similar. Kenji couldn't quite place it, but then again Kenji didn't feel like it. " Oh well, if there is anything off about him, he'll tell me if he wants to. " Kenji said yawning and sitting up as Shinji started the lesson. " Hmmm... " Shinji said, watching with such attention that he could have preformed it. That is if he had the right chakra. But he didn't apparently according to the teacher at the academy he used suiton and fuuton to create hyoton, something which only him and his parents in all of Iwagakurian history could do. " Hmmm... Focused chakra from your inner core huh? " Kenji muttered to himself, holding up a single hand and making some quick hand signs. " Water manipulation no jutsu. " He said, drawing in the water from around himself int the air. Kenji began to make shapes in the air, freezing it, and thawing it to make different shapes. " I wonder why I even need fuuton if I have this much mastery over water with an academy ranked jutsu... " He said sighing, a sudden idea forming in his head when he remembered Shinji talking about completely mastering a technique. " I wonder if I could... " Kenji said, focusing extremely hard, he made the top portion of the water he was playing with freeze, and the bottom half begin to boil. But this didn't last for long, Kenji's focus broke from something distracting him, maybe a feather. The water Suddenly burst, sending steam everywhere infront of kenji in a miniature mushroom cloud. " Damn... " Kenji said laughing. Truthfully it had spooked him, but it would be fine.

Genin  "To protect something is to fight for it; to die for it" “Oh great, not that crap again…” Gage said aloud as he watched Shinji’s finger light on fire. He backed up some and cursed loudly. There where reasons why Gage only knew the Ember Clone Technique. While he was in the academy he wasn’t able to control his fire jutsu. He had master fired the clone jutsu only because he was able to use large amounts of fire chakra to do it. He kicked the ground and told Shinji his story. “Well, let’s start from the beginning…” Gage started holding out both of his burnt hands. “You see, this is the result of trying to restrain my fire jutsu. I only know the Clone Jutsu because it requires massive amounts of fire chakra, but none-the-less…”“I’ll let you see for yourself…” Gage said retracting his right hand and closing his left fist, only leaving his index finger straight up. He closed his eyes and tried to focus his chakra into his index figure. It lit easily, as well as his entire hand. Gage flinched some as he fell on the ground and began rolling on the ground till the fire was out. He stood and looked at his bloody left hand, “So, tell me, what am I doing wrong?” He asked as he reached his right hand into his pocket and retracted a roll of bandages. He began to wrap his left hand as he waited for Shinji’s reply. Tactical Ninja

{ When you said learning draw back, I assumed you meant taking longer to be able to use the jutsu at all. Being that you're apparently turning the Ichi into the Go, or, the five finger version, using your drawback, 'm rescinding on that. No, you can't have that drawback. Simply because I don't want to be the one blamed when you just randomly start leaking fire out of your a** without using a jutsu for it. }

On a second note, as Hinote said, going from Ichi to Go, which you did goes way beyond what the typical elemental or offensive specialist could do with a +1 to the jutsu rank.
...at most, in using Ichi, you would be able to create the effect of Ni, or at the most San. However, I will work with your character as if what he did really were possible and you can shift your RP appropriately in the future.
(Oh, also, Shinji's finger never actually lit on fire. Since there is no "Offensive quality to this technique, it was not heightened... and I clearly described it simply as 'heat' not flame. Please be more careful with your reading/description in the future.)

Kaze thought, making his way over to a tree. He placed his hand against it, and dragged his fingers down the bark of it. '... I love how things don't change.' Kaze said, turning his head to Shinji, seeming to be training a student or two. Maybe just one? Hmm. Oh well.
'... I haven't seen the Tsuchikage in a while, actually.' Kaze ran his hand through his abnormally long hair as his mind went over those old memories once more. Kaze even laughed from some of the memories. But, some memories were buried deep in Kaze's memory bank-- Times he does not want to remember. Kaze smirked, and watched Shinji train the young... Genin? Whatever rank he was. He was being trained. Kaze observed the training to understand what kind of products Shinji could produce

It was rather odd for the young man to complain about such a simple thing as the Ichi jutsu which Shinji had just taught himself with relative ease, nut he was curious to see why Gage felt this way. The way he described it, it made him seem like he had the same sort of ability Shinji might have, as the problem he described was almost exactly his own, but as the boy rose to the occasion to demonstrate this, Shinji stopped thinking and observed only.
Staring intently as he watched the boy activate the technique, Shinji recoiled slightly at the sudden explosion of fire off of the boy's hand, which he very quickly dismissed, revealing that he had badly injured and burned himself in the the process. "Well then..." Shinji said as he watched the boy bandage himself crudely... "That certainly seems like it would be a deterrent to your training. I think I can help however."
"You don't seem to be doing anything 'wrong' per say except that you aren't compensating for your own power. it would seem you have a natural affinity for fire... something that indeed makes it more powerful, but you have no way of controlling it yet. that's why we must master this first, or you will severely limiting and most likely harming yourself in the future. the first step is control... learning to channel and release your chakra in the right amount so as not to produce undesired effect. right now, you seem to simply be allowing a flood of Katon-based chakra flood your hand, but this obviously will not do."
"Before we look into that however, let's get you in the process of good habit." Whipping out a scroll, Shinji then unrolled it, reading over the Katon jutsu practice referred to as the 'Bounetsu no Jutsu'. When he had finished reading the jutsu himself, it seemed simple enough in concept and he moved on to teach it to Gage, while simultaneously teaching it to himself. "Alright, we'll start with this... the Bounetsu no Jutsu. It requires no hand seals and over time, it will simply become a natural thing that you will do passively as you wield your element. The premise is simple, you create a shield of chakra around your hand, coating it with a thin layer before channeling your chakra. this way, when the flame is formed, it does not cause any damage to your flesh."
[Learning - Katon: Bounetsu no Jutsu (1/2)]
"Here, I'll show you." Holding his hand up to Gage, this particular exercise would be a cake walk for Shinji. All Konaga learn the basics of channeling their chakra to different areas of their boy, more or less by the age of 7, and this was very similar in concept, except, not EXTREMELY painful in the process. Drawing chakra to himself, Shinji channeled the chakra through his hand as if he would when attempting to climb a steep ledge, rather similar to how the Kinoboro no jutsu worked, only much thinner. Of course, this thin layer of chakra would never hold his weight and attach it to something, but against flame, it would be the perfect barrier between it and his hand. Just as he channeled his chakra, his hand began to give off a soft blood red glow, showing both himself and Gage that he had successfully coated his hand in the thin layer of chakra. then, using the Houka Hira no Jutsu, Shinji created a small ball of flame in his hand to show Gage how the thin layer of channeled chakra buffered his hand from harm. "See?... if you can master this, it should help give you at least some protection from your own techniques."

" Kenji laughed nervously, holding out the last one in a long drawn out sigh of relief. Kenji laid on his back and listened to Shinji while thinking silently to himself. Ove the years Kenji had actually become fairly good at this, being able to carry on multiple conversations at a time. Kenji noticed a red haired boy who looked to be around their age. Although he didn't exactly seem to be as strong as Shinji, or atleast didn't hold himself up to that height at that moment, Kenji could tell that something was off about him. Maybe even more so than Shinji. Definately more so than Shinji. The Red haired boy by the tree seemed to radiate something... Wierd, Evil, but most of all... Warm. No, Warm didn't describe it. Warm would have been sitting in a hot springs compared to this. Just exactly how warm Kenji couldn't tell. ' That kid has to have some amazing Katon strength... That's the only way someone of my rank could do such a thing... ' Kenji thought, a furrow crossing his brow. Seeing that almost nothing Shinji was teaching Gage would help him, Kenji pushed off the ground with his shoulders, and landed on his feet. This was somewhat awkward because Kenji was still halfway to the ground. Kenji rolled his feet forewards so that he was on his toes and used his poweful leg muscles which had grown accustomed to Kenji's unorthodox way of getting up off his back. Kenji dusted himself off and turned curtly picking up his foot, and just about to walk away when he remembered something. Kenji rotated his foot that was firmly planted on the ground, spinning himself much the way a soldeir would. " Thank you for allowing me to sit in on your training session. " Kenji said bowing courteously to Shinji and Gage. Kenji was in a natural soldeir's attention pose, feet together, arms to the side, back straight. Everything about him besides certain factors were completely unisymetrical. Kenji finished this bow and brought his left foot behind his right, so that his left toes were protruding on the right side of his right foot, and used that to turn himself. Kenji then walked away, satisfied at his show of politeness. Kenji began to walk towards this Red haired boy, and thought to himself what if this boy was a threat, or atleast meant him harm in some way or another. Kenji dismissed this thought and put on a huge smile. " Hello, My name is Kenji Kana. I'm an Iwagakure Genin. Pleasure to meet you. " Kenji said laughing and holding his hand out, much the same way with Gage. " I look foreward to going on missions with you if we are of the corresponding ranks. " Kenji said smiling, looking at Kaze.

Genin "To protect something is to fight for it; to die for it" “Well then…” Gage said as he watched Shinji perform the jutsu. “This shouldn’t be so hard, so long as I don’t have to complete the second jutsu you used.” Gage said as he completed wrapping his left hand in the already red bandage. He stepped back a little and picked a leaf up from the ground with his right hand. “I needed a focus point…” Gage said as he closed his eyes and began to focus his chakra into his hand. He his main focus was the point where the leaf met his right hand. Once he felt that the chakra had been focused through out the length of the leaf, he forced it from his hand. A Thin layer of dark red chakra began to emerge around his palm. “Well, looks like I almost have it…” Gage said opening his eyes and blowing off the leaf from his hand. He was getting closer to learning this jutsu. So long as it helped him in the long run, he didn’t care what rank it was. [Learning - Katon: Bounetsu no Jutsu (1/3)] Gage began to push the chakra through out his entire right hand. The thin chakra layer moved slowly up and around his fingers. Gage’s entire palm, now, was engulfed in chakra, he then turned it over and began focusing the chakra to cover the back of his hand as well. Gage watched at the chakra began to flow over his bony hand and he watched as it made it’s way to his wrist. He waited a few seconds as it passed his wrist some, then he slowly backed some his chakra from his hand, ceasing the movement of the chakra layer, but still leaving enough chakra for it to stay around his hand. [Learning - Katon: Bounetsu no Jutsu (2/3)] “Now then, onto testing this jutsu.” Gage said aloud as he raised his hand. He extend three of his five figures and tried to focus the fire inside of him to them. ’Maybe if I use three fingers I could be able to do the Ichi.’ He thought as he felt his fingers begin to warm, it was hard to see the color of his fingers change as the dark red chakra layer covered them, but Gage could feel the heat emitting from his three fingers. He held it to the point where they began smoking, then retracted his chakra completely. He wasn’t going to try and burn his hands again. Gage’s fingers slowly turned back to their normal color and the chakra shield just broke altogether. Gage had pulled too much of his chakra back from his hand causing him to lose the chakra shield, but he was fortunate enough to have only felt a small portion of the heat wave, a lot less then what he should have, seeing that the chakra shield did, indeed work. “Well, then …” Gage started as he looked at his Sensei. “that’s one and a half jutsu down. I just need to figure out a way to limit it to only one finger and hold back the flames.” Gage said satisfied with the effects of the Katon: Bounetsu no Jutsu. Kai climbed back onto the rock. It was too hot to sleep in the sun. Looking around she spotted Kaze. "Don't touch that tree Kaze!!" She yelled, slumping on the rock. She watched Shinji train his two students.

Konaga Shinji| Konaga Clan | Speed/Offensive Type | Iwagakure | Chuunin ||| Shinobi Profession: Teaching Master || RPC Profile || {{I understand that you are a Katon Elemental Master, but don't go too far with it... you have an advantage with fire, yes, but you need to have your limits. All of your katon jutsu are ONE rank higher... so Ichi, acts like Ni, Ni acts like San... and so on and so forth. Shinji can do this to a degree as well, but only with Offensive jutsu, so watch what I do and learn from that.}} Shinji watched closely as Gage seemed to understand the technique and was doing well in forming it, waving goodbye to Kenji without much concern for the spectator. His chakra color seemed to be similar to Shinji's own, which made it easier as he saw the thin layer form over the boys hand. of course, he would eventually learn to do this naturally and the layer would not require such a conscious layer, nor would it regularly be visible, but for now, it was a good start. As he watched the finger grow hotter, creating some steam, he was surprised to see him suddenly pull back the technique and then declare that he understood it. This didn't particularly please Shinji as it showed a bit of fear to test the ability, even though Shinji himself had shown it to be an effective method to guard your hand from being harmed by the flame.
"Hmmph..." Shinji scoffed as he heard Gage announce that he had learned the jutsu... "What's the matter Gage? You learned the Katon: Ichi, but why'd you pull back on the technique? You afraid you'll hurt yourself again? Well you can kiss all your ninja training goodbye if you're going to be afraid to use what you've been naturally given. The number one step is never to hold back from what you're capable of. If you do that, you'll never push or test your limits and you'll always be stuck in your infancy. You can't be afraid to push yourself! Now do it again, but this time, use the technique I used. Katon: Ichi, Ni, San... all of those techniques are not meant to produce flame, they are meant to channel Katon energy into your hand in order be used as a heat weapon... only the final incarnation, Katon: Go, produces usable flames. You seem to have simply overloaded your hand previously and through your lack of control created a freak accident of flames. Here, I'll show you the technique I used again and it's precursor... I'll teach you both at the same time."
"First, you need to learn the 'Tanebi no jutsu' ... then after that, it's all chakra manipulation to form the 'Houka Hira no Jutsu'. Watch carefully." Weaving through the hand seals slowly to show them clearly to Gage, Shinji stopped at each one until he felt it would be absorbed and then moved through them faster to create the technique. Allowing the chakra flow to his fingers, just like in the Ichi maneuver, Shinji held his hand up in front of Gage and presented it to him. "Once you feel the heat, snap your fingers and allow the chakra to mingle with the friction and be released..." In an instant, Shinji then snapped his fingers, generating a small cinder which he quickly opened his hand to catch in his palm. A wave of pain suddenly struck Shinji causing him to wince and recoil from the pain sent through his body. All of the teaching seemed to have made him forget it all for a while, but his body tore him back to reality quickly as the agony of his bloodline poured through his system with a stronger intensity then usual as if to remind him of it's presence.
Gritting his teeth however, Shinji allowed the flood to come, embracing the pain as it flowed excruciatingly through his system. Unwilling to be mastered by it while giving a lesson however, Shinji pushed back against it and eventually the pain subsided to a more base level of agony then the shooting waves of pain. The agonizing pain was still there, and it always would be, but it was tolerable now, allowing him to continue the training... "Then, the 'Houka Hira no Jutsu' comes into play." Shinji stated plainly as he concentrated his chakra through his hand as the cinder began to glow brighter and brighter until it erupted into a small flame, and then, due to Shinji's aptitude for Offensive jutsu, a larger flame which he held up and continued to allow burn in his hand, showing Gage that he had little to fear from the flame with the passive technique already in place. "Alright Gage, you're up... don't hold back on me now. You should be able to do exactly what I'm doing, at the same intensity. Don't be afraid to unleash your full intensity.... and HOLD IT... there's more to this technique afterward."

To correspond, Kaze gave a firm handshake. "Kaze Arashi. I am also a Genin of Iwagakure. Nice to meet you, Kenji." Kaze said. Kaze questioned Kenji's motives. Maybe Kaze was just being paranoid? Hmm. 'I'm probably just being paranoid.' Kaze returned the smile at Kenji. What an odd day... "It'll be cool to work with you, Kenji. What are your elements?" Kaze wasted no time with wanting to know a few things about this Genin he would be working with.
When Kai said something, Kaze turned his head, and then looked at the turn in regards to her comment. "Why?"

Genin "To protect something is to fight for it; to die for it" “Well… Uhh… Fine…” Gage admitted, he was scared of his own technique. He shuttered at all the failed attempts in the past. All the mistakes of burning himself, burning others, and burning the place around him made him scared. He didn’t want that to happen again, but he needed to overcome it, or stay Genin for ever. He was hoping for the first part. “Ok, I won’t hold back, just don’t get yourself burnt by me…” He said removing the bandage on his left hand, so he could make the hand seals. Gage began to focus his chakra, once more, to his right hand. This time, though, he used his index finger as the point of focus. He watched as the chakra covering began to take over his hand, as it did before, and then slowly preformed the hand seals that his sensei had shown him, until he could do them as fast as Shinji. He then limited the flow of chakra to his chakra shield then refocused on the hand seals. Few minutes later…Gage had finally perfected his hand seals and was ready to perform the first jutsu that Shinji had showed him, the 'Tanebi no jutsu' . Gage then preformed the hand seals as fast as he could, but only as fast as he could handle, not to make any mistakes in his hand seals. He, then, held out his right hand at arms length and began to focus his element to the middle finger and the thumb. He watched as the steam flowed from the both of them, he closed his eyes, now, scared he was going to burn himself again, then snapped the two fingers together. He heard the snap, then a loud ‘pop’ and he opened his eyes. In his hand lay the cinder that he created with the friction between his two fingers at the point of contact. “I did it…” He breathed, more confident that he could perform the jutsu without burning himself. The chakra shield held back most of the pain and Gage only felt as if he was holding a cup of hot coco or something. ‘Now for the other part…’ He thought. [Learned - Katon: Tanebi no jutsu (1/1)] Gage began to channel waves of chakra into his palm, right under the cinder in his hand. He watched as the cinder grew slowly. The pain increased, but he endured it, the intensity wasn’t at max due to the chakra shield. He watched as the cinder continued to grow. The sweat on Gage’s brow began to dry as the cinder grew larger and larger, until it burst into a ball of fire that Gage struggled to keep bound within his hand. “COME ON!” Gage screamed as he tried to control the small fire within hand. He was past the pain now, there was no time to worry about that, it was trying to contain the fire within his hands. He fought with it watching it grow then retract as he tried to channel his chakra in a straight, single flowing line to his hand. After about two minutes of fighting the fire within his hand, Gage finally caught control of the flame, making it into a fire ball a little smaller then his palm. “The pain, it’s not as bad as before…” Gage said staring into the flames. He turned to his sensei with a bright smile. “How did I do?” He asked showing him the fire in his hand. ‘The uncontrollable flame that was in my hand made me lose sight of the imaginary pain; what little pain there is now…’ Gage thought looking back into the fire. “Now I REALLY know that the Ichi works.” Gage said smiling. His hand was a little ‘sun burnt’, but besides that, he was fine. [Learned - 'Houka Hira no Jutsu' (1/1)]Tactical Ninja

Konaga Shinji| Konaga Clan | Speed/Offensive Type | Iwagakure | Chuunin ||| Shinobi Profession: Teaching Master || RPC Profile || Watching Gage this time around, Shinji was much more pleased with his work then he was last time. Seeing hims truggle through the technique, both afraid of harming himelf and unsure of his abilities, it was good to see that he pushed himself through it all and accomplished his task. As Gage exclaimed his joy at finishing the tecdhnique, Shinji nodded and congratulated him. "Good. Excellent Work Gage! You see?... all this tiem you were holding yourself back and for no reason!... you just needed to learnt he right technique and focus on your control. There is still one more part to this jutsu, which is important... this is the first attack-based jutsu you will have learned, but this technique can be thrust forward into an enemy to burn them. it's not a huge amount of damage, but combined with a good palm thrust, this would add a little extra damage to an already painful attack."
Turning to the side, Shinji drew back his hadn and then thrust it forward in a strong palm thrust, his foot stomping on the ground with a loud thud as his arm extended forward, striking an invisible target, the fireball in his hand discharging forward and dissipating only a few inches from his hand. Straightneing back up again, Shinji waited for Gage to do the same with his ball of flame and moved on... "Alright, next up, the Fukumen no Jutsu. This one is relatively simple and it works off of everything we've been doing. Forming the handseals and channeling the chakra to your palms, you slap your hands together to compelte the technique and then thrust your palsm forward, emitting a bright white light into the eyes of your opponent. then, either you capitalize on their distraction, or you make a hasty escape. A very useful skill, watch closely." Moving through the hand seals slowly as he had done before, showing Gage each on in sequence, Shinji repeated it a few times before weaving throught he hand seals much faster. Gathering his chakra from his core and allowing the technique to mold within him,Shinji then clasped his hadns together before announcing the jutsu loudly... "Katon: Fukumen no Jutsu!" Forcing his palms outward, he then shot a blast of bright white light directly towards where Kai was sitting. "There. Now you try."

"Kenji said laughing a little. Kenji looked a little shocked at Kaze when he said he was only a genin. " are you sure? I mean you seem quite a bit stronger than almost everyone else here, aside from Shinji. " Kenji said, leaving out the part that Kaze gave him a slightly uneasy feeling, but Kenji quelled this thought. ' Kaze seems nice enough, He could be pretty fun to be with. ' Kenji thought smiling. " My elements are fuuton, and suiton. However my family has a unique skill that allows us to mold the two together to create ice, otherwise known as Hyoton. Me and my parents are the only ones I know of that can do this. So I'm pretty excited about that. " Kenji said laughing. " Although I haven't learned any of the Jutsus for hyoton, I'm fairly far in creating a few. " Kenji said laughing. " What are your elements? " Kenji asked, Wanting to know why exactly Kaze had given off that odd feeling. Kenji's spine was still prickling, but it didn't seem too bad now. Maybe Kenji was getting used to it? Or was it that Kenji's body was simply trying to deny it existed at all.

{{For the record Kumo... there is nothing about a demon Host that gives off any kind of a vibe to a normal Shinobi. I personally feel like you're metagaming a little bit. if you were going to feel anything strange from anyone... you would feel it from Shinji, whose chakra is wild, untamed, and violent.
...sure, Kaze is different, but there's nothing about being a Jinchuuriki which would make you spine tingle unless you were a true sensor-type ninja capable of detecting such things. I mean look at Naruto... none of his fellow teammates ever felt there was anything strange or spine-tingling about his presence through all the years at the academy.
Just something to consider.}}
