Monkey, Tums do in fact make it worse later.

They temporarily nutrilize the acidity in your stomach and it's ability to break down the food. So...okay and here's where it takes a turn for the yuck....the food just sits in your stomach getting a chance to...er "Age" and then when your stomach starts releasing more acid to deal with it...well whoo...nelly.

Also too much calcium causes constipation which like you need a reason to have a hard time taking a crap at 7,8,9 months pregnant.

Tell your doctor "Look this is really freaking annoying, I KNOW you can perscribe me medication, do it."

I had heartburn shortly after delivering my daughter and still took prilosec in the hospital (they gave it to me because I forgot my tagamet) even mid labor because I hadn't had a chance to eat anything substantive and the acid was a-churnin' up. I still have some Tagamet left, my midwife gave me a double up perscription even though I only needed it for four weeks she said to keep them around if me or my husband had any like long term heart burn problems.

I have the same problem, Luna. If I miss one dose of my Zantac than my heartburn is horrible but if I stay on top of both doses then it manages fairly well.

I can't use Tums as an antacid anymore anyways. I have to use it to get my daily dose of 4000mg of calcium a day. So using it as an antacid doesn't work anymore anyways.

Hey Monkey, have you tried 24 hr. Claritin to help with the allergies?? My OB prescribed it for me, it works wonders (you can get it over the counter, but if she prescribes its than I don't have to pay blaugh )

Well, I was in monitoring in L&D on WEdnesday night - Thursday night becuz my little bundle of joy decided he didn't want to move too much for 3 days. They finally release me Friday morning, where my OB just had me come up to an appt where they checked everything for there records then gave me my glucose test. Didn't like that at all. I'm not used to having that much sugar in my system all at once and it gave me a terrible migrained that hasn't gone away yet.

Then this morning that did my Rh shot.......which no one told me it have to be shoved into my hip. So I've got a migraine and hip pain....... crying Ah, but such are the joys of pregnancy right?

I was able to finalize registration for birthing classes and I got a prescription for a belly support belt cuz my little frame just isn't big enough to carry all this extra weight so low. redface

12 weeks!! blaugh heart blaugh

How is everyone else doing??

OMG, 11 days!! I think that time purposfully started moving slower in the last two weeks... It seems like I'm so tired all the time, and everything on the face of the planet gives me heartburn!! I've just been on the Tums for that though, seems to work well enough for me.

I've been taking these "lightheaded spells", lately too for some odd reason. I just feel all weak and like I should lay down. Sometimes if I eat something it helps. Anyone know what that could be all about?

Anyway, I'm shooting to get this baby born on Canada Day! If he's the first one in my city, then we'll get all kinds of gifts and things! mrgreen

Maybe it's your body trying to get you rested and prepared for the big event coming up!

Heh, in ways I would like the baby born on September 1st so he gets the cutoff date for school, but I don't really care either ways, lol. Hubby thinks it would be cool if he's born on September 11th with how impactful that day has been for us, but we shall see, never can tell with babies!

I'm having to give in and admit I'm a puss and borrow one of those maternity support things. I've been trying to do walking everyday and it's been taking it's toll on my crotch (aka ECP=evil crotch pain!!) to where I wasn't walking without problems, lol. I think at least it will help when I do my extended walkings like I did at the mall yesterday or when I'm having to do some work twice a month.

heres some helpful links biggrin

I think contractions feel different for each woman. For me it would start out like a tightening in my back then the top of my abdomen downward(your abdomen tenses up also like when your doing a sit up). Some women only feel it in theyre back , some only in the front ..sometimes its painful ..sometimes its not. Boy thats confusing isnt it lol.

When they tell you "They feel different from period cramps" what they mean is GENERALLY FOR SOME PEOPLE they feel different.

That's what mine felt like, and I recall Dirge saying the same thing. So there you go.

The freakiest thing has been happening... Baby pushes his back up so it basically sticks up and looks like i have an extra part to my stomach.. but thats not the wierd part.. then he starts doing the practice breathing. You can actually watch it rise and fall rhythmically eek its so cool but feels wierd. My mom was all ok rolleyes till she saw it xd then after about a minute or so of that.. he gets the hiccups and starts kicking and rolling like a monster whee The doctors peg him at about 6 lbs right now surprised so basically he could come at like anytime so now my family keeps talking to my belly and saying "not till after the 4th mister!" .. hopefully all the fire works dont scare him out lol im guessing 3 more weeks and he'll prolly be born.. just a feeling *shrug*
PUNCTURE~~Being that tired towards the end is pretty normal i mean your kinda like a pack mule at this point lol. But it never hurts to ask sometimes feeling sorta sick and very tired could be anemia (low iron) . oh and get your rest now because you never know when youll be able to once baby comes lol

Yes i hate the stupid not being able to crap from the tums! My doctor is all "we dont wanna give it to you unless its 100% neccesary" well it is gonk ill ask when i go back next week ill just be all sneaky and ask the nurse practitioner ninja it sucks because the pain meds they gave me .. while the Darvocet im allergic to.. so they gave me Lortab.. but im afraid to take it one because who knows if im allergic to it too and two.. anything even tylenol make the heartburn worse. Man pregnancy really is evil isnt it stressed

mOnKeY, I feel like a pack mule at this point! lol

At my doctor's appointment yesterday they told me I'm 2cm dialated, so I got all excited and thought, well god, he's gotta be born in the next couple of days then! Right?! The doctor said it means nothing... stare

Anyone else ever dialated before labour with any of their kids? How long was it after that, that they were born?
PostPosted: Sat Jul 01, 2006 9:10 pm

I was never checked with Logan. I had to ask when I was 39 weeks and I was only 1 cm dialated. Even when my water broke and I went into the hospital, I was only 1 cm. So, looking back, I probably had a ton of prelabor and whatnot, but really you couldn't gauge by any of that. I felt like I was ready to go for weeks, but lol, the doc is right. It's so hard to tell. I have friends who were 4 cms for weeks. I had Logan 6 hours after my water broke.

Still dealing with the ECP (evil crotch pain). I'm waiting on my pool card so I can go swimming everyday versus walking which seems to not help. Although I have a feeling going up the stairs and the normal day to day keeping up with preschooler doesn't help either, lol. But I'll make it by.

Hehe, yeah, dialation really does mean nothing. You can be 3 or 4 cms for weeks or rock hard and undialated and give birth in hours.

I think I started to open up a few days before Ethan came, like 1 cm a few days before. I didn't feel any of my prelabor contractions, wouldn't have known I was having them if I wasn't forced to have an NST. But once my water broke, he was born in about 5 1/2 hours.
