Well, I would put my two cents in on the politics. But this post is coming to you live from my brand spanking new computer. It is running BEAUTIFULLY, and since I am now more than two weeks behind on a post. I am going to go do exactly as I promised right now. Post.

Annie Goober Lykus I think America's done pretty ********' well for being barely over two centuries old. I think it's humanity that's gotten worse. What we NEED is a good God. Like one who loves everyone, except idiots. Ch'yeah, two centuries. Although...fifty years ago was when we really started expanding. After WWII, our economy BOOMED. I actually studied the statistics and stuff a few weeks ago in my economy class. We were relatively...average...before then. Nothing much. England has had much grandeur for centuries, and they had much more grandeur than we did, then. (And I'm not saying we have more than them now, either, guys. xp Nyeh, I always have to be so careful about what I say or people are like "All you Americans are so pompous!" sweatdrop ) Quote: your country has been made a laughing stock. "Has been made." Present Perfect Progressive Tense. That signifies a maker, who in the past and present is doing the...whatever they're doing...and it'll be ongoing into our future. Is it our politicians, like I assumed? Or is it our people? The ones I see on the school bus? Or those old ladies that play bingo downtown every Wednesday? That average Joe driving to work each morning? Who? Our Chief Justices? Our local authorities? Our soldiers fighting in the Middle East? Celebrities from Hollywood? Or is it our fellow nations making us into the laughingstock? I'm honestly not trying to be smart-alecky...I'd just like an answer. I just assumed politicians, since they're generally the case. ninja heart Quote: Personally I can't believe how much s**t you guys put up with. Jokes about us actually do hurt my feelings, a lot. They don't offend me - they hurt me. And it's like repeated blows. It just never stops. But whatever. I guess I just have to put up with foreigners thinking of me and my family as... ... for the rest of my life, for things I don't even understand, myself. Yeah, pretty much it's your politician's being stupid, but when you look at all the tourists that come up here and act like idiots, one must begin to wonder what the rest of the country is like. Don't get me wrong, I travel to the states and I meet many kind, and intelligent people, but so many people in America are complete idiots! Then you look at the laws your 'democratic' government passes (democracy is a myth kids) and the BS pumped out on your news channels and the reactions many of the citizens have to it..... it's all very depressing. It all boils down to a favorite military saying of mine, 's**t rolls downhill'. Essentially, whatever happens to the top will effect the bottom. Because your government are pompous, ignorant fools, you are viewed in the same light by your government. They are the crafters of your bad reputation as an American and the global populace are the upholders of the stereotype. As for your soldiers, they haven't exactly upheld the glorious image of the so-called 'American Way'. Come on, when I found out that many American tank crews listen to death metal and bloodhound gang and whatnot, when killing Iraqi civilians, it didn't help my opinion of your military. Not too mention the fact that they'd been deployed to a non-aggressive nation. Good job America. Your government are a terrible group of individuals. Your own country's statistics show your people to be moody, ignorant, undeducated, and obese assholes, but I want you to know that I treasure the glorious few that stand out and become worthwhile people. (hint hint: that's you there Annie!) I'm sorry if jokes about your country are hurtful to you, especially due to the fact that Canada does more than it's fair share of mudslingin at you. In fact we have a cartoon that is 50% dedicated to it, 'Chilly Beach'. Let it be known however that the other 50% is used to make fun of Canada so I suppose it balances out....feh I think the shows funny anyway. I get to laugh at myself, and I think that's healthy. We can't help our stereotypes though, Americans will be portrayed as pompous asses by the entire world except the US, and Canadians will be portrayed as being either hockey-loving beer-drinkers, or over-polite wimps who are allowed to live simply because we are the prison b***h of the US of A. Personally I see us as the second, but then again, I'm big on anit-Bush. I must say though that I am not a terrible educated Bush hater. I'm no expert on the man's movements, I just ethically clash with the man. This is my long a** way of saying, Annie, I'm sorry if I've hut you or offended you. I'll probably do it again in the future, but if I do it's completely without intended malice. God bless America, it needs it more than ever! sweatdrop

Well, I know a lot of people...in school, work, sports, church, next-door neighbors, etc. They're Americans (haha, duh!), and they're wonderful.
For instance, my mom is a really hard worker. She runs five businesses. (She even worked so much when I was 12-14 that she'd be gone before I woke up, and home after I went to bed. Sometimes I wouldn't see her for like... two or so days. gonk )
My dad is just a shy, humble, and quiet guy who never has anything bad to say about anyone (especially about me...I really like my dad because he never holds grudges against me when I screw up, like my mom tends to do, etc. etc. My dad is very quick to forgive. Thank God. whee )
That's my two cents - I like our people. Well, the majority. Of course we have our dumbasses, there always are, no matter where you go. But, whatever. I have fun here, there are a lot of interesting and talented people. I challenge myself in school, and I have good opportunities for college. I want to travel, learn, and expand my thinking about the world, rather than be cooped up in our culture, alone.
I don't care what other nations say about us (though yes, it hurts me, as I said before). I just am who I am, and it's fun living here. I won't say I'm glad I was born here...I wouldn't mind being born in Canada, or Europe, etc. It's just as good as America, to me. But I'm not complaining about living here, either. I enjoy it. Although for some reason it's wrong for me to say that I like my country.
Although, Kozo, your view is appreciated, very much. xd You always have a particular passionate way of putting things. I loooooove passionate people. They're my favorite. :3

I just hate when people are like "omg u liv in TX? lol u cowboi" Sorry to disappoint, but Texas is just like everywhere else, except that, despite being a republican foothold, it has the most concentrated democratic constituency centered around the capital city, and another very large democratic chunk in the largest city.

Of course then again I am bumpkin so I think it's funny when people find out where I'm from and act all surprised that I don't where a cowboy hat on a regular basis. Actually I only know one guy who does...and nobody likes him. LOL silly silly Chad. Feh, nevermind it's an inside joke anyway.... Annie, your attitude is so cool! Forget nationalism altogether! YES that's so the key to world peace! whee mrgreen

No way. The key to world peace is some conflict that comes outside from the world. e.g. Aliens attacking, or the situation in every Gundam series.

I live in Oregon. (It's like "Or-gen". Not "Ory-gone".) And as far as I know, we don't have any stereotypes...do we?
I'd like to know. What do you out-o-staters/out-o-countryers think of us rain-soaked Oregonians? whee

Oregon? Sorry, there aren't good stereotypes that I know of. Well, there was one, but that was an in joke from my grade school. You see, there's this game called Oregon Trails, and it really sucks. Everyone played it though because there was nothing else to do on rainy days. We always used to joke about how stupid the hunting scenario was. You'd just stand there and a buffaloe would walk by, and you'd blow it away. It was really funny to see the buffaloe just collapes. It didn't scream, it didn't even look alive in the first place. It's knees just sorta buckled and there was this amusing little 'whump' sound. LOL We'd all say that Oregon was the land of retarded buffaloe and poorly animated squirrels. RP-wise though, I've been looking into Urban Arcana, is that thing still open or has it been abandoned too?
