We have a chain of supermarkets up here in WNY that includes a sushi shop. Not the best in the world, but better than nothing.
There are some more expensive sushi places in the yuppie neighborhoods, but I have no desire to try those.
A good place to look for cheap sushi (if you're looking for better-than-nothing) is Chinese buffets. We have a ton of them here and a few of them serve sushi, though they don't advertise it and you have to try a few to find one that does.
Hell, even my college served sushi in the little cart in the Science Building lobby...
