Hey everyone, back from a long hiatus, mostly due to way too much time being spent in college studying. I'm going to look around for a while and see if anyone has a good rp running, might start my own if I feel up to enough effort.

Okay, so I didn't post, but I had to leave unexpectedly. >.>

And I work today.

And I'm addicted to Riviera and Fire Emblem. FE razz oR is harder than the other ones I've played. Stupid Soren, getting right in the range of the recruitable General and killing him with Elwind/Adept. crying

Then Soren died. Oops. O.o

I'm such a perfectionist when I play Fire Emblem. I resolutely refuse to let anyone die. Half my team is trash that I never use (the other half being an amazing destructive force to be reckoned with) but damned if I do not get through that game with a perfect roster.

Path of Radiance is definitely harder than either the initial port to the GBA or Sacred Stones, but this may or may not be because I am playing it on hard to compensate for the fact that I <3 the Fire Emblem and I got a little too good at it =P.

I'm the same way with Fire Emblem. No one can die and I have done several missions over because I missed a characture

NWN is an enjoyable game. I treated myself to the Diamond edtion for x-mas. No online for me though.

....stupid dial up
PostPosted: Mon Jan 02, 2006 3:04 pm

NWN came a looooong while ago.

I still love that game, and it's looking better than ever with my new graphics card.

I feel your pain.

I hate dial up. Good thing I have Ethernet now. But I'm never mean to those that lag like hell, just because I used to have dial up. Yep.

I find that PoR is harder not only because of the Tower of Valni being taken out (which made the SS too easy, I think), but because it forces you to split up your teams more often.

Oh, and same here with the 'no unit left behind' thing. Because I /know/ that if I let a character die, it'll turn out like so:

*After restarting a chapter 12 or so times because say, Marcia died, I finally get frustrated and let her /stay/ dead. (I wouldn't! I love Marcia despite Tanith pwning her, she's adorable and the position of her hand makes some very interesting, unintentional double-entendres).

*Three chapters later, I meet up with the creepy Makalov. I instantly see the relation (pink hair, anyone?), and then spend the next three hours cursing at the Gamecube.

My general "team" currently consists of (spoilers, if you don't know who joins you around Ch. 20):

Ike (dur, and promoted, with Aether)
Rolf (He'll be promoted by the end of the next chapter, I swears it)
Jill (promoted, with Full Guard and Vantage/Wrath combo... yay criticals)
Volke (promoted w/ knight ring and Lethality, wouldn't consider him a regular otherwise)
Stefan (*luffs*)
Mordecai (Demi Banded, my only decent Laguz unit)
Soren (HAR! EAT MY CUSTOM TOME, ARROGANT GENERAL >D)
Gatrie (promoted, a total physical wall)
Tanith (CALL IN REINFORCEMENTS! They're Dodge Queens, like L'Arachel)
Rhys (Well, SOMEONE's gotta heal. It might as well be the one who DOESN'T suck *coughMistcough*)
Aaaand... Reyson. Yay Reyson.

Okay, so I could stand to use another magic unit (and like, a knight? But I don't like the ones in this game... or any, for that matter...), but I think I'm doing /okay/.

Next playthrough, I want to use Nephenee, Oscar and Boyd more. And maybe Mia.

My "mission critical personnel" (this is what I actually call them) after having finished the game is as follows.

Ike - He must be leveled to 20. He must have Aether. This is the only shot in hell he will ever have at beating the Black Knight. And thats IF he's carrying 4 packs of elixirs and gets really lucky (the odds come out to about 23:1 in the Black Knight's favor). But if you do this, he can defend flanks all by his lonesome

Titania- She earns he keep early in the game by being a stone wall with massive movement and offensive capability. She stays that way later in the game. Especially if you teach her Sol. Another lone flank defender.

Boyd - He just sort of ended up on the team. Technically speaking, he's fantastically mediocre compared to some of my superstars. He's first to get cut if I don't have the space

Rhys - He heals and casts the holy spells and make sure no one falls down. Duh.

Tanith - She has a high dodge rating and her top notch mobility make her invaluable when I need to protect and save soft targets

Astrid - Without doubt, the most RIDICULOUS character in the game. Her ability to gain double experience turns into MASSIVE growth and she deals unparalleled ranged damage, and even impressive physical damage once she promotes to a Paladin.

Sothe - My keymaster on the field, his ability, Blossom, makes his stats remarkably good, and his unbeatable dodge rating and decent offensive prowess make him nice to have in any mission where s**t needs unlocking.

Mia - Half of my untouchable duo. I can't count on her for a high damage tally, but hell in a handbag if she ever takes a hit. Impressive Critical rate and vantage seal the deal for her. It was reccomended I use Zihark instead, but his low base stats versus the already growing Mia locked him out of the army.

Nephenee - The other half of my "You can't touch this" strike force. She has a higher damage output than Mia, but a lower dodge rating. Still, the two of them combined took maybe 20 hits total.

Nasir - White dragon = destruction-o-rama. Hand over the Demi Band you wuss laguz, Nasir is on the field and he is pissed.

Calill - The only magic user that ever really caught on for me, and the only one I've ever needed to subsist.

Tauraneo - Better speed, armor, resistance and weapon proficiency than Gatrie. He takes the General position in my squad.

Whoof.

That looks like a lot of people. But it isn't really when you consider that there are 44 units on the regular roster, and you get to choose one more for the last chapter (Tibarn, Naesala or Cainhengis' shadow, whose name escapes me)

Speaking of NWN (Not really, but I haven't played the gamecube Fire Emblem), I just got a game informer and there was a preview of Neverwinter Nights 2. It was very impressive, and would be more impressive if it didnt seem that it was totally ripping off Oblivion. I dont like the fact that its in first person, though. RPG's dont work well in first person. At least thats what I think.

I'm also highly interseted in the new instament of Splinter Cell. I love the "Insted of sam fighting global terrior and crime in general, he BECOMES it! Oh jesus, no!" plot twist.

Also, Need for Speed: Most wanted and Half-Life 2 are highly enjoyable video games. Me and my second cousin just talked about how awesome the Zero G gun and the ablitity to launch harpoons, sawblades and sholves at Combines and Zombies is during our New Years family convention. And I will end on that massive sentence.

Oblivion? Can't wait for that baby to come out.

heart Morrowind and Elder Scrolls. The graphics for Oblivion are AMAZING!

NWN 2, I'm waiting for it, I haven't seen any screenshots though. Shifter is an awesome class, piece of advice, make a level 30 Pale Master. You'll get a Lesser DEMI LICH as a summon for the Greater Undead Summoning.

As a Shifter, you can effectively turn into a red, blue or green dragon... it's freaking sweet.

...I have no idea what any of you are talking about....

*feels very naive and left out* o_o

Aww, don't worry Annie. *patpat* It's just video games. xD

Well, I haven't beaten the game yet, but I do know enough to train the crap out of Ike.

The Dragon unit... I might not end up using. While the Laguz units are awesomely powerful, I'm not a huge fan of them... and if Nasir's movement is the same as Ena's (I'm in that chapter now)... :

... Well, I do like Reyson, but he's an exception. The thing that differs him from Tethys is, while in Sacred Stones you could argue that it's better to bring two great units instead of one great unit and a dancer, in this game, while transformed, he can get FOUR units double turns. Also, he's good as a pseudo-healer with his ability.

(By the way, I got Tethys' avoid up to 97% with support. It was fun to use her as bait, with Marisa nearby.)

Titania is great at first, aside from the fact that she leeches experience, so I tried to slowly phase her out in order to let some of the other units have a chance. She's got high RES for a physical unit, so I often just send her to pick off the mages (or archers, in cases where I want to put a flying unit in) and then bring in someone else.

Soren is my favourite mage/sage. He has the highest magic cap of them, I think, but the lowest defenses. And... Callil uses knives. KNIVES. Her strength cap is 15, as with all sages. It's /so/ fun to watch her hit double zeroes on enemy mages. xD

I also beat Oliver in one turn with Soren and Bolting. He got Adept to activate, and then got a critical. PWN. I didn't want any of those stupid items anyway. >.>

I don't like Sothe, either. While his Blossom skill does give him amazing stat gains, it makes him extremely slow to level, and the fact that he starts at level one and can barely do any damage then (lacking stilettos/daggers) makes it harder. I only need one thief, and that's Volke.

... My hands are all red from pomegranate. *munchmunch*
