It reminded Lore of a freisbee, in where a person threw it out sideways from the wrist. He squated a bit to give it to Skye.

"Here, hold it here," he showed her, "And just toss it like this," he gently moved her arm.

He had actually never played the game, and the only time he had to throw a disc was when one landed on the street he was walking on.

Skye mimicked Lore's movements, first holding, then tossing the disc equally as gently as he did. It fell nearly at her feet.

She blinked at it, surprised, then knelt and picked it up. She examined it carefully, wondering if there were something wrong with it, then looked up at Lore again. "Not work," she said, her tone bewildered. "Why not work, Papa? Throw broken?"

As far as she knew, she had done it just like Lore ...

She held the disc out to him. "Papa show Skye," she said solemnly, nodding wisely. "Papa throw, then Skye know how. Okay?"

Ulani watched the two, amused. It looked as if Skye took things a little too literally ... but on the other hand, it made for an interesting and cute incident. She couldn't remember what it had been like for her, learning how to throw the disc ... as far as she could remember, she just always could.

Then again, her life had been vastly different from that of her parents.

"Uhm... Okay," Lore replied back taking the disc.

He didn't really play the game, so he didn't think he would be good, and he needed to stay squating otherwise Skye couldn't see, he was too tall. Who would have thought it was possible to be too tall, but then again coming from Gaia he was use to being too tall. Lore lightly tossed the disc and while it flew smoothly it did not go as far as it could have had he just toss the object hard.

"I GOT IT!" Celebor shouted, pouncing on the disc and giggling like mad. He straightened and made a show of brushing the grass from his knees, then giggled again and tossed the disc towards Ulani. "Catch!" he grinned.

Ulani caught the disc and smiled. "Good throw!" she complimented him honestly. He was a quick learner, having started out no differently from Skye.

And speaking of which, it was the little angel's turn to try again. She tossed the disc so that it headed in Lore's direction instead of Skye's, since she didn't know how well the little girl would be able to catch the disc, or if she would at all.

Lore held out both hands to catch the disc before it could hit him, he wasn't sure of himself enough to catch it with just one hand. Only then did he hand it back to Skye.

"Now you try again," he smiled.

The rest of the week passed in much the same manner, with the children (and Elnara) getting to know Lore better, and having fun each and every day with each other and with their new friends (or old friends, in Elnara's case). All in all, it ended up being a very pleasant and relaxing week for Elnara, and she hoped that it was the same for Lore.

When the day came for them to leave though, she was a little sad. It meant that she would have to leave her mother yet again, and she didn't know for how long.

Serenity made sure she was around for much of the week, and especially on the day when Elnara, Lore and their family had to go back to Gaia. She also wished for more time with her daughter, but she had other children that needed seeing as well.

"It's a pity Gion never came here this week," she murmured sadly as she watched the others preparing to leave. "He would have so loved to have seen you all ... and to have met you, Lore."

Lore nodded, pleased that Serenity thought so, since Gion was the only brother that Elnara could seem to talk about without becoming sad, "Perhaps we will see him the next time we visit."

He was sure Elnara was still planning on another visit, and he would be there too.

"Who knows?" Elnara smiled. "Perhaps we'll see him when we visit Tor Karad ... whenever that ends up being." She was still wary of going back there, though she knew that she had to eventually, if only to see her grandmother.

To her mother, she added, "But when you do see him, tell him hi from me, and tell him I miss him?"

She paused in the middle of pulling on her rucksack, looking at her mother hopefully.

"Of course I will," Serenity smiled, putting one hand comfortingly on Elnara's shoulder. "And I can tell you for certain that he misses you, too." She gave Elnara's shoulder a tight squeeze before letting go again.

She looked up at Lore. "You'll be certain to take very good care of her, won't you?" she smiled. She knew his answer already, but she wanted to hear it anyways, just for the sake of hearing it.

"Yes, in every way I am able," Lore replied back honestly as he went to pick up Idhril.

He checked to see where all the children were, it was hard to believe that back home it would have been less than a day, but that is what he had been told.
PostPosted: Sun Oct 28, 2007 2:54 pm

Idhril cuddled against Lore's shoulder and closed her eyes, looking very much as if she was going to fall asleep yet again. She looked very comfortable, though, and indeed even she would have agreed that she was.

The other children were all outside already, playing a last game of disc toss (those who could; Storm and Starr just watched) before they had to leave.

Elnara picked up Idhril's now silent vase and tucked it under one arm. "I suppose that's everything, then," she murmured thoughtfully, more to herself than anyone else as she looked around to see if they had missed anything. "I think ..."

Serenity opened the door for them so that they didn't have to put down the things they had picked up (or people, in Lore's case) and made sure to stay out of their way so that they could leave.

Ulani and Ulrich were both outside with the children, playing with them one last time. Aliya was in bed, asleep, so Ulani wasn't worried about her. That child had a good strong set of lungs, and even those without elvish hearing would be certain to hear her outside if she woke up.
