That could've gone better. Rota did not gain much back from that attack, and with it seeming to be full of piss and vinegar again (Although the question then becomes where it even stores it....), he decided there was no better time than to knock back another Witch's brew. This one seemed to be Mint flavored, but for some reason was in quotation marks. The demon guzzled greedily from the tankard...and to say that it was an interesting experience would be not only exceedingly generous, but also proportionately inadequate to describe just what combinations of indescribable sensations flowed through his soul. The only properly definable thing was that the drink managed to soothe the rough throat that breathing all the fire in one's body will give to you. That said, Rota's face was likely a paper-white mask of horror and regret. He could only surmise that this particular brew was made from the suspicious candies themselves, and as such he know knew what eldritch horror-esque flavors one of the multitudes of wrapper scribbles was warning them about. Just the thought of what he had put into his mouth made him feel the sudden urge to apologize to ancestors he didn't know he had. All he could do was re-grip his sword and stand battle ready as the brew still improved his strength.

Alyx took an incredible hit against his shield, and the force exploded around him with all the force of a megaton bomb, but Alyx' boots gripped the earth and his shield remained strong. The lesser god against which they battled appeared to be taking Alyx' insult to heart and was rallying yet again. Its aggression seemed to come in waves, and they'd have to start trying to deconstruct that pattern if they were wanting to make the most out of each strike. As it was, Alyx decided to move back on the offensive, and spend a little of the energy that he'd been hoarding. He felt secure that as long as he held the monster's attention, he could stand strong against it. And as long as he stood, Rota could not fall.

Despite The horror he had just endured, Rota tightened his muscles and slashed at the boar with renewed vigor. He would still need to build up his strength for more powerful strokes, but he was completely capable without an offensive arte to call upon. He had done so for an exceptional amount of time beforehand, and he could continue to do so. The broad side of this boar's right flank was a mish-mash of vaguely red thin slices. It was tartan checkered with minor inconvenience, and that was not okay. Rota was a major inconvenience at absolute least. It was time to drive that point home.

Alyx had dealt a hardy blow, and Rota had done the same. The boar was reeling from their onslaught, and they had both capitalized handily on its insecurity. Alyx felt himself losing his buzz, but he wasn't quite ready to take a time out and start drinking again. He had played for a long time without the benefit of that magic elixir, and he was not going to become dependent on them now. As Neo Abyssian sank into its prey, as if on cue the boar began roaring to the heavens and light rained down from the sky. A few things happened in a short amount of time. 1, Rota realized it was coming down harder and faster than it had before, so it was going to hurt significantly more. 2, It was going to fast to dodge. 3, Croire had let out a scream of terror. In response to the third, Rota snapped momentarily and brought his sword directly upward with all his might. He was done letting this thing bully him around and scare Croire. His family was not going to be continuously tormented by something like this any longer! Rota put all the effort he could into the swing, his family needed him.

Alyx felt the weight of the heavens descend upon him as a solid beam of light blasted down from the sky. Thrusting his shield upward, Alyx intercepted the blast, and was forced to his knees as the light flowed around him in a prismatic spray. He was untouched, and his shield was unharmed, but he had only just barely been able to stop that attack, and he didn't feel particularly well-rested about it. This thing was bi-polar. Or maybe it just needed to recharge occasionally. A system that limited that ridiculous sky cannon would make a whole lot of sense as a balancing tool. But when did anyone who made this game do anything that made sense? Alyx decided it was time to get his buzz back, and hopped back to take a swig of witch's brew. This little tonic was playing a large role in their domination of this fight, Alyx was sure, and he wanted to keep taking advantage of every option that they had to kill this thing faster. Alyx could take the hit that he'd suffer for deciding to stand back and have a drink, but it was worth it for the benefits. What were ten hit points compared to the hundreds that he would return against the boar in the coming strikes?

Rota was the undisputed parry master. Light itself could not pass his impenetrable defenses. He brought his sword straight up into the rapidly approaching beam of light and as they clashed Rota tensed and swung harder, redirecting the beam and an equal and opposite angle. This frequency feedback violently dissipated the beam and Neo Abyssian came back down shrouded not only in its own lihgt, but the light of the beam as well and sliced into the boar. It seemed the Boar didn't like that, but still couldn't pry itself away from Alyx. That was just fine. As long as it was focused on him, it wasn't focused on defending itself from the Demon Warrior. Alyx got pegged a little bit, but it didn't hurt too badly. He was able to soak it with his armor and keep on drinking without spilling a drop of the eldritch liqueur that was pouring down his throat. Reinvigorated and ready to go, Alyx drew Gloomfang and made to strike with another full-powered thrust, hoping to get himself back in the game damage-wise. If they worked together, this thing would come down at least fifty percent faster, so Alyx was buckling down for the long haul and planning on taking a few hits to the jaw in the name of progress. He primed his arte and let it fly.

Rota had ripped into the boar yet again. Little by little he was whittling the middle. He was going to dig to the juicy center of this one of a kind monster and rip the gear that its kind held hostage from its glistening entrails. It HAD to have something good, it was the unwritten law of adventuring! If you were difficult to defeat, you had valuable things! if there was an adventuring handbook, that would be bullet point one. hell, they'd put it on the damn cover! So Rota disallowed this piggy to remain greedy on the grounds that his greed was more important than this one's. As he began to strike the boar, it was readily apparent to him that he only had a couple of Double strikes left in him before he had to recharge again. no matter. he was making the most of this brew, and that was what mattered.

Alyx was delivered another rather hard blow, but in the grand scheme of things it was not an unmanageable amount of damage. He'd gotten so used to seeing that bar remain untouched that the thought of his health decreasing by any amount at all was disturbing. But he had to shake that feeling of unease. His mission as was to take that damage and remain unshaken. It was his job to fight to the last hitpoint without concern for his own life. He had to stand strong in the face of all else, and damn the consequences. With that in mind, he charged another thrust and went back on the offensive.

The beast was getting scared. Rota could feel it. he and Alyx had been the ones to kill it every time before, and it knew that they would be the ones to kill it again. That was how this would end, with its luminous body broken into uncountable shards, and the brothers in arms with all the spoils...unless it stood up yet AGAIN, defying all logic, reason, and decency. it would be flat out inconsiderate if it did that, but honestly it was almost expected at this point. it was if the hands of the gods had ripped this thing back into existence just to spite them and prevent them from executing their collective plans. The next floor was not to be entered, for it was only a myth. Rota defied this notion, swinging with his remaining gumption into the boar as his aura was flickering out of fatigue.

Alyx struck the boar once more, and Rota's blade began to flicker as he delivered his normal crushing blow. Alyx realized that the half-demon was running low on energy. He decided to open the boar for a good strike so that his swordbrother could get a bit of momentum on the thing. Alyx primed his shield and prepared for a stagger. He would throw the thing off its balance, and Rota could get his licks in while it was unable to defend itself. Alyx would, as an added benefit, be able to avoid at least a little bit of the damage that he would otherwise be suffering due to his bull-headed beatface approach to this fight.

Rota had done all that he could with that last strike. It was not only time to regain some strength, but also to shake things up and raise the stakes. Rota sighed as Neo Abyssian began to crack apart. "I know you like to have the limelight, but you need to stop being so greedy." Rota swung his blade vertically over his head, and as he brought it down in front of him a mighty black and red pulsing blade twice it's size burst forth, an ambient whisper of hunger invading the air. "Let your Little Brother have a turn!" As he roared out, hefting the blade as best as he could he rammed the Demon great sword into the God Boar. If it was going to dine, its first meal was going to be a banquet.

Alyx bashed the boar in the face and opened it up for Rota to strike the monster with his <********> Alyx stood still and looked at Rota, slackjawed, as the demon produced the most incredibly large weapon Alyx had seen in this game. It was insane. How on Earth did he even wield it? It was ridiculous. Alyx almost forgot that they were in the middle of battle, finally remembering where he was, and readied his shield to smash the sideshow in the nose. "What the hell are you swinging around?" He was almost nervous to be around that damned weapon, for fear of AOE damage from the atoms split by its impossible force.
