Shestval Red_Head01 Shestval Cupcakechan hey. I was thinking.. maybe we could do a joint auction to get funds for the next one after this ends That's an fun idea! Although I'm not 100% sure that Gaia will still be around this time next year... sweatdrop To be absolutely honest, I'm not sure what the prize will be THIS year. I need to talk to some of the other mods about that. We were talking about having a raffle for an art commission, but we don't have an artist lined up. I'd be willing to do it, but I'm not sure my art is really desirable enough. rofl Huh? Why wouldn't Gaia be around next year? Gaia's floundering as a business. It's been dying for a few years now (massive layoffs, failed partnerships) but the massive inflation recently feels like death throws. They've come out and said that they aren't putting any time into anything that doesn't directly net them money. That's a problem because without unprofitable aspects of the site (like the forums and guilds!), they're going to lose their membership base. It already feels like people have been leaving. If you don't believe me, check out the Art Shops and Requests. It's gotten very very difficult to get artists to draw for Gaia gold anymore. This goes beyond "I'm an oldbie and I don't like change rarr rarr." Gaia's terminally ill. I would recommend against spending any real money on items. I mod a couple of different art-related things around this site and I'm hoping those groups can find a new home before Gaia sinks completely. (Sorry for being a downer) Huh. I didn't know that. I mean, I did notice the increase in the dependance of real money lately, but I mostly only come on for art related things. sweatdrop

I hope gaia doesn't lose too many people. For me I only come on for the art community which still seems pretty strong. So here's to hoping the inflation problem goes away and they draw in more people. *raises fist hopefully*

Cupcakechan Damn. It'd be sad to have the site go. I met my fiancee on this site and he's next to me now! I also met some of my best friends here, but I have noticed the site turn to money-starved garbage. Actually, the only reason I have been logging on is this theme challenge haha. I was also dismayed to find or, not find, rather... artists willing to trade their time for fake currency HAHA /dies. This site used to be a more reliable art-trade service in a round-about way. Pure art trades tend to end with me empty handed, but gaia gold used to be kind of like a go-between that the artist would be more willing to accept. okay sorry for the rant! END I should add that I'm a pessimist. XD So take my dire warnings with a grain of salt (although I still wouldn't spend real money on the site.) That's a really good point, about the how Gaia used to work for art trading like that and it doesn't so much anymore. It sucks to think of how hard I used to work for 1 mil gold, and then I was sitting on that gold when the inflation hit so now it's worthless. I'm now getting 1 mil offers for warm up sketches (not quite but close).

Day: twenty-four Theme: moth The quality of the photo is really bad so it's hard to see, but the words on the wings say "forever grounded."

Day 24 - Whispered Secret Sorry, I didn't have much time today for art so this is just a really crappy, quick sketch. I would have done something better but my dog had to be taken for surgery because she was stupid and decided to eat half a bottle of gorilla glue and now it has expanded into a hard, foamy, mellon sized mass inside of her stomach. I'm really nervous and worried about her so my drawings for the next few days will probalby be crap.

Oh no, I hope your dog is okay! Pets can be such morons sometimes but that doesn't make it any easier when they hurt themselves. sad

Shestval Oh no, I hope your dog is okay! Pets can be such morons sometimes but that doesn't make it any easier when they hurt themselves. sad I hope she'll be ok too. I know she is smart, hell she figured out that if she pushed her toys into the cracks on the side of her dog carrier it would push the two parts far enough apart that she could get out. And yet at the same time she is so stupid she gets her leash tangled around the tree outside every single time we let her out. It's like she is both extremely smart and extremely dumb at the same time. emotion_facepalm
