Xilo, your sprites are still doing the MOONWALK~!

Question: When you're walking around on Terra Firma, will you be able to switch which avatar is there?

The game was designed with Jack being the central character to the story; a lot of story events wouldn't make sense if you were controlling someone else on the screen. But, you can switch which characters you want in your party for battles (besides Jack), kind of like FFX. The inactive ones still get XP and stay the same level as the other characters so if you ever want to switch you won't have to go back and grind.
But after everyone plays through the demo I'll release a cheat that lets you take the lock off Jack on the party switch screen so you can play as anyone.

I was mainly just referring to when you're on the overworld map. Like...in FF4 you can swap who you're controlling, and in the DS version you can even hear their thoughts, giving them more character.

ANYWAY, for cinematics it reverts back to the main character (in your case, Jack)

Well, this game's coded somewhat differently. It's much easier for me to just do cutscenes with whatever character is currently displaying on the screen, so to switch around characters back to Jack whenever a cutscene plays is tedious and unnecessary. Thus, I made it so that Jack is locked until later.
And don't worry about building character. There's plenty of that. XD

Hah, just about to say the same thing. Switching the character for a 'cutscene' would look horrific.
