Because the good news just won't quit for me: After short deliberation, I decided that the best thing to do with this new windfall of mine would be to to donate it to charity. I don't need it for anything, and I'm in far too good a mood to do anything else with the money. So to charity it will go(or, is going, as I write this).

Child's Play to be specific. For those of you that don't know, or don't read Penny Arcade, or both, Child's Play donates new video games, video game consoles, DVDs and books to 21 children's hospitals in the U.S., Canada and the U.K with absolutely zero administrative fees. It was created as a response to the stereotype that gamers are all time bombs waiting to kill someone, the idea being that gamers give back.

And let me tell you, it feels good. Like.....REALLY good. Better than any stinking headshot to be certain.

*spreads around some holiday cheer*

Charity rocks. Speaking of which, I shoveled an old guy's driveway for free because he has a heart problem and nobody lives with him. He kept offering me money but I turned it down. I mean, what kind of person takes money from an elderly guy with nobody around him?

I pushed several cars today with three of my friends.

It felt so rewarding.

The same thing happened to us. It was prolly kinda different, but he had a huge mess on his hands, and he was like 92 or...somewhere in his nineties. We cleaned up his messed up garage since the guy he paid to tear it down just... tore it down and left a huge mess. It was really icky, and he wasn't in any shape to clean it up. Hah, I found a racoon carcass half-decomposed under the rubble from his garage. Haven't forgotten that. T'was gross. =P

I'm not claiming any saintliness on my part, though. Let me make it very clear that it was my mom's idea and whether I wanted to help or not, she MADE ME do it. smile

Well, see, the pushing cars part, although it felt good, was necessary for my friend to give me a ride home.

There were two roads on which cars kept getting stuck, so we helped push them through and eventually we got to go ourselves.

Actually, the way it works out is as follows:

I spent 900 dollars on all the other parts for my computer (the ones that did NOT get hit by the hurricane)

I spent 800 on the motherboard/processor and RAM (the parts that DID get hit by the hurricane)

When I lost 800 dollars to the hurricane, I returned the other parts so I could start putting together a different system. (meaning i have 900 dollars)

Then I got the refund from the guy who sent me the motherboard processor and RAM for the total cost of ALL the parts of my computer (another 1700)

That brings my total (after mailing and shipping costs for some stuff) to about 2500 dollars.

Since Im getting a new computer anyhow, that means I will, in fact, be donating 2500 dollars to Child's Play. 3nodding

GAAAAHHH! You all have snow! ...WTF. We were supposed to have lots of snow by now...but then MR.Weather dude lied. Feh, It's gone from a winter wonderland to a second, colder spring! We were supposed to have a few feet of the white stuff by now! ....and now I have the flu...but I have a big presentation to do for monday so I can't skip school. But THANK GOD the glider is finished..thank freakin' God. Now I can do things on the weekends again!

As for good deeds... I dunno, there's this nice old lady I visit from time to time. She's a bit addled and I'm afraid to say much because she has asthma so bad that she can't really laugh. She's really nice though and I know she enjoys the company. She's got to be the world's nicest woman though. She collapsed one day and some firefighters came and helped her. Ever since then she's been giving all sorts of baked goods to the firehalls in Vancouver! This little old lady spends just about all her time baking for others! The trouble is, most of the firefighters she knows are getting old and retiring themselves. It's not the same for her with them gone. My father is a firefighter and so our family has known her for a long time. We still go out to her place to visit her and when it snows we make sure that, if no us, somebody goes out to shovel her driveway and rake up her leaves. LOL ^_^ She's been around for so long that she got her own page in the firefighter's calendar! ...^_^and I mean the one with the muscley fire dudes! Hee-hee!

Aah, I really heart firefighters. heart

We have a firefighting program at my highschool. It's sorta like a cadet thing-esch.

Also, every Christmas they drive around my town at night for like... four or five hours. They play loud Christmas music, have a big Santa on one of the fire trucks, and have him yelling through some sort of loud speaker, 'Merry Chrrrristmas!'

And all the fire trucks are sounding their alarm-things.

And then a bunch of firefighters all dressed in their fire suits walk with the fire trucks and collect canned food from houses who come out to meet them. I guess they give it to our Rescue Mission we have in my city.

It's sorta like an annual tradition, here. They've done that since before I can remember. My mom always used to pack a plastic bag with a bunch of mac 'n cheese and green beans, etc. and have me bring it out, and the fire fighters would give me a candy cane. ^^
