Oh....
Daemon thought to himself, he supposed it would be like him marrying Yume, only it wasn't forbidden, or at least it hadn't been for centuries upon centuries.
Really? Human and elf marriage would have gone very badly?

It only happened once, and it caused a large part of the population to relocate, Gion replied affirmatively. That's where my mother's people came from ... they moved out to an island in the middle of nowhere until the demons destroyed everything. Mother and her family were the only survivors.

That's awful. Daemon replied because on so many levels it was, not just for the lost of life, but the fact it would change nothing if no one had survived. Really he didn't see the problem, but he was Gaian.

Well Grandmother and Grandfather are all right, everyone loves them - but no one's particularly fond of Mother, Gion shrugged inwardly. So really ... yes, it is awful.

That isn't fair at all.
Daemon murmured but he knew there wasn't much that could be done until someone spoke up and years of opening eyes were done. That would however take years.

Gion raised one eyebrow. Life isn't fair, he replied. We haven't met face to face before but trust me - life isn't fair.
He was slightly bitter. About his height, about not having a voice ... about never being able to have a family. But he was able to ignore it most of the time. It was only during certain times that he felt this bitterness. But when he did ... he really felt it.

That is why you need people to try and make things fair.
Daemon replied.
And I don't mean about what just life gives you in general, I mean that, that matters only in what you make of it. After all his years of being a seer he had learnt that sometimes you had to take what life gave you otherwise you'd be horribily cycnical.

Peopl can do whatever they want to try to help things, Gion retorted. Life is never going to be fair. People who are different will never be accepted by everyone. Ideas that are new will never be accepted. Life won't change. There aren't enough people who want it to.

Ah... to be so young and so cycnical, and techically speaking Gion was younger than Daemon.
Not by everyone, but by most people, it can happen, of course if you just resign to the fact that life wont' change, it won't.
Daemon replied back wisely.
If that is what you have deicded that is the way it will be.

We've been through this, Gion replied patiently. I can't change people, and my station is pretty much useless to me in that regard. And the fact that I can only communicate with a select few doesn't help either.

If Daemon could he would have rolled his eyes, Gion could be dense sometimes, and he thought too big.
I'm not saying change people, just... well help others when you can. Sometimes the act of helping others help makes the world fairer, it might not be much to you, but it is something. Lord knows you're learning to fight because you have to, to have people take you seriously, and know all these scholarly things, put it to good use. Help the poor, the defenseless... for heaven sakes there are plently of things you can do that has nothing to do with station but with action.

Out of curiosity, who is there for me to help? Gion asked. Not in a harsh tone, just purely curious, wanting Daemon's opinion. Wondering what his friend would tell him.

Hmm..... The poor people? Like the homeless if there are any.
He personally didn't know if they had any.
Sometimes because they are homeless they are easier to pick on because they don't have a job or don't have a skills for a job. Sometimes they just need a bit of help finding a job. Orphans? People out there that might be considered easy targets to be bullied into giving in because they can't fight back? Children are sadly enough the most likely targets for anything like that, from strangers... and even in rare cases from family.
Really he didn't know what Gion's home was like so it was hard to tell.

Gion thought about that for a moment.
I ... don't think we have poor people, he replied finally. Not like the humans have. Everyone has a place to live ... everyone has food, shelter, clothes ... sure there are some people without gold, but that doesn't mean anything.
He shrugged inwardly.
As for the orphans ... well, I don't think we have many right now but ... usually they're taken in right away. Nako was the only one I know of who wasn't taken in immediately when she was orphaned; but then, she was also in the forest on her own at the time, so there was no one TO take her in.

No wonder why people didn't want change it was nearly perfect except for the small minortiy, but wasn't it like that in all countries? However this minority seemed very very small.
Hard to imagine that under the surface of that seems to be a perfect society is the possibity for great tension.
Daemon commented remembering he was found in the rubble of a war, granted it was against another race, but the Queen from his understanding had so much trouble. There were always trouble, from people, it was perfect but under the surface there seemed to be some tension.
