For example, rocks ground and disperse lightning. This is reflected in Ground and Rock types being strong against Electric Pokemon." "Another example would be water being used to put out a fire. Fire types are naturally weak against water types."

"This is the basic system we use," Roxane explained, passing out a paper to everyone in the room.  "Each place where you see 'X2' is where the attack will do double damage against the opposing Pokemon. For example, the second line down on the left hand column is the Fire type. You see that these attacks are super effective against Grass, Ice, Bug, and Steel Pokemon." {{Although we don't use resistance here, its on the chart as well. XD}}

"Right, an advantage does help. Although there are also things you can do to help overcome a disadvantage in types. One way is to make sure your Pokemon knows a variety of move types. If your Pokemon is a water type, for example, it would be beneficial for it to learn some normal-type moves, as well as special attacks, such as dark moves. I noticed you mentioned you have a Feraligatr. I'll use that as an example," Roxane nodded. Feraligatr can learn Crunch, which is a dark type move. This can help against psychic Pokemon. Also, it is compatible with several TMs that can help against its disadvantage with the Electric type. Earthquake, Dig, Rock Slide, and Rock Throw are some examples. So you can have an advantage with moves, even if your Pokemon is at a type disadvantage for its species."
