ok This has been a big confusion, but no.. It was Both of them...
In the Game you realize he loved Tifa first... Then after Aerith (Aeris for those who dont go by the japanese version...)came along he fell in love with her. This travels over to FFVII: AC where throughout most of the movie, hes looking for Aerith and is actually living in the chapel where he first met her... Out of love... he never liked Yuffie, thus why she always calls him a "Spikey-Headed Jerk". He still loves Tifa though, thus why he is always worried about her, and started a buisness with her...
And! actually i found out that Cloud is lying about loving Tifa, because ZACK is the one who actually loved Tifa, and when you play the game, he admits that most of his life is a lie, because he beleived he was Zack. So really in the end Cloud loves Aeris!

Zacks partial love interest was Aeris, since they dated for a short time while he was still stationed in Midgar. And in the Broken Mirror section of the game, which is the section where Tifa is helping Cloud put his memories back in order in his consciousness, everything we saw in Clouds mind there were Clouds true memories.

I agree with RanmaxHikaru (with the exception of a few details...). Pink, it seems to me like all of your evidence is your opinion. I don't see much fact in you statements. As for Nomura-san, no-one has the right to say what or who he liked better (even if you say your evidence of such came from an intervew).

I haven't read through all 51 pages, so excuse me if I repeat something.
I think Cloud liked Tifa. When Cloud was younger, he and Tifa were unseperable. He promised to come back and save her if she was ever in trouble, that he'd be her hero. You don't say something like that to someone you don't care about.
He only liked Aerith because he took on Zack's persona. That's the only reason. He basically took Zack's memories and made them his own - that was half the story of FFVII! Those memories include the love of a young girl named Aerith. Tifa loved him for who he truly was, and Aerith didn't love him at all; Aerith loved her boyfriend, Zack, and no one else. Cloud felt he was Zack. See the problem here?
Yuffie isn't even an option. stare
In the end, I'd say he, Cloud, not Zack-Cloud, loved Tifa. heart

Vincent. V Ex-~ I think he prefered Aeris, in my personal opinion. That's what I took it as anyway. I didn't see a real relationship even happening between him and Tifa though. dude that is honest to god my first name and the first letter in my last name. seriously. in real life. i agree with Vincent. V Ex-~. he supposedly liked aeris. but one time i was talking to my friend on AIM and he says, "dude, you like ff7 a lot?" and i was like, "yeah." so he gave me this link. and i clicked on it. and it gave me a bunch of hentai of cloud and tifa. i was like, "DUDE WTF?!?!?!" he said, "hey man, you said you like ff7 a lot." so from the point of view of japanese perverts, they think cloud liked tifa.

Cloud loved both girls, end of story. BOTH of you have basically, for the most part, given some good facts, but a majority of the stuff you both provided is opinion, which does not constitute as fact.
STOP bashing the characters just because you can't see them with Cloud, and quit twisting around events from the game to fit your own ideals. Above all else, STOP FIGHTING.
