I'm digging in the haystack ...

This was it, her last chance to find the needle she'd been searching for for so long, but with every passing second she began to lose hope. It was only hay. Just hay and more hay, no matter how deep she dug in and how much she sifted through. Only hay. Etsali let out a great sigh and flopped over onto it.

She was still picking that horribly depressing hay out of her hair as she made her way over to see about moon cakes. A treat would be just the thing to forget that needle! Hurrying to work, Etsali made sure not to overthink it, since that had worked last time, and sure enough! Properly cooked moon cakes!

The moment the farmer saw the punkin she offered up for inspection, the woman's eyes lit up. Etsali figured that was as good a sign as any that she had found a really really good vegetable to contribute this time. She took a certain amount of pride then, in making her way over to the community pot and ever so gently dropping the punkin in. It was like she'd saved the best for last, and she hadn't even known to plan for it.

Well, it seemed that all this fussing about in the hay had been for naught. All he'd gotten out of it was a cloak full of hay, all kinds of itching, and a few tickets. What were these tickets for anyway? He hadn't seen any real prizes, or at least ones that interested him. He tapped his chin.

"I should think about heading home soon, but one more sweep around the area couldn't hurt." He mused, kicking a few bits of hay into the air.

Rastin stared at the pan in disbelief. This... These... How did they end up so mushy but, at the same time, well cooked? It had to be some kind of magic or something. There was no way that something mushy could be well cooked at the same time without some tom-foolery. The troll sighed, rolled his shoulders, and shuffled out toward the booths. That was an utter failure, but not a complete waste of his time. In fact, he really wanted to buy a recipe book and keep practicing at home. It would be something for him to do when he was bored!

The stew smelled so good, it was hard for Rastin to keep his nose away. When would they start serving it, anyway? All this exercise had made him hungry! He scrunched his face up and reached for a punkin.

"It smells really good already, but maybe this could make it even better." He said, smiling to himself as he plopped it into the pot. The more stew the better, right? That way people could have seconds. He hummed, shook his head, and turned toward the bartering station. Could he leave some of these extra veggies there? Only one way to find out!

I'm participating in the exciting and vibrant agricultural market!
Current crops: 8 punkins, 9 tarnips, 9 totatoes (I used 2 Punkins, 1 Tarnip, and 1 Totato in the community pot game)
My total after turning in will be 8 punkins, 3 tarnips, and 5 totatoes, which is 16 crops left over for Rastin to do whatever he'd like with.
Action: Turning in
Crop gain/loss: 6 Tarnips, 4 Totatoes
Tickets won: 5 tickets

Rastin made a face at the sign before him. Really, only ten crops could be turned in for tickets? What kind of joke was that? ... Well, he could always use the extra crops he had for stews at home. After all, he knew he could make a pretty decent stew, just not decent mooncakes. He twisted his lips and placed ten crops on the table.

"Five tickets is the payout for that many crops?" He grumbled, shoving them in his pocket. Whatever. It wasn't like he needed to carry twenty six vegetables home, sixteen was more than enough. He sighed and sauntered off in search of CatDad.

"No, no, no, NO!" Eridia huffed out of the haystack and shook off the hay on her hair. She just found more and more and more lousy hay and the highblood wasn't please, not one bit. She was convinced there was no dang needle in there. All of it was a scam for sure. Eridia letched her fists, kicked a tiny pile of hay out of her way and strutted angrily away.

It was tonight or bust! The festival was coming to an end today and Amonee had even seen a couple of booths already packing up. Since it was local run event, he couldn't blame them for needing to head home and back to work already even if it wasn't as fun. But he had made sure to stop and thank the trolls that he could for putting on such a fun Jubilee. It was truly one that he would remember for sweeps to come!

"Come on, Amonee, you can do this." The jadeblood smoothed his hair down and tried to focus. Where was the needle hiding? Could it be near the base due to the reshuffling of the hay? Or was it tucked deep perfectly in the middle where it would be hardest to reach? Rolling up both sleeves, the young painter opted to basically dive into the haystack.

Shoot, he'd still come up with nothing. But at least it'd been fun! He blushed and thanked the farmer for the game.

"I want you to eat this one." It had taken the entire festival to produce a mooncake decent enough to offer the cheerful baker but Amonee had finally done it. The texture wasn't perfect and it was more savory than sweet but it was edible and it contained all the goodwill the boy could muster inside it. He had enjoyed his adventures at the mooncakes booth, even if he'd destroyed a lot of ingredients in the process. Plus he had the sinking suspicion the baker had been the one to swap out his mooncakes to boost his morale that night halfway through the festival. Amonee was wrong in this but his pumpbiscuit was in the right place.

"Thank you for everything." With a polite bow of his head, the boy gave a wave and disappeared back into the crowd.
