He let the aura dissolve as Neo Abyssian continued its song of death on the boar, just participating in an extended solo this time. There was no telling how long this fight was going to take, and it was taking everything Rota had to keep up a consistent assault up, but it was all going to be worth it in the end. Any adventurer knows that the most powerful monsters hide the best treasures, and this was the strongest monster he had ever seen.

Instead, he was repaid for his efforts in anger and laser-like focus. He wasn't quite sure how long he'd have its attention, but he was absolutely positive that he had it at this exact moment. Taking advantage of that attention, Alyx raised his shield and braced himself for the impacts that he knew were going to be coming. He needed to build up some momentum so that he could keep this show moving forward at a pace that wouldn't fossilize the players involved. He was worried that his poison would not be sufficient, and that he and Rota might have to rely on entropy, and the creature's inevitable heat-death to claim victory.

The hits from the demon warrior remained consistent and, hopefully, decisive as his blade plunged once more into the boar's flesh. Is flesh an appropriate word here? It was pretty much a blinding expanse of prismatic light, the existence of skin was not one that was easily confirmed. Rota cocked back for another swing as he smiled. "So was this the thing we'd never fought before, or just a happy accident?" the ridiculousness of the situation was not lost on the warrior as he followed the swing through. He needed to bring his stamina back up if they were ever going to beat this thing with any sort of speed.

Rota's strike went home and Alyx was again surprised by how little they were actually doing to this behemoth. They were making such little progress that Alyx wondered what sort of worth there would be in sticking this fight out. Naturally, they were going to have to deal with this thing. They couldn't run away and leave it here; that would be irresponsible. So they'd have to tough it out and whittle this nebula into a single, burned out star. It would take just a little more time than they'd thought.
"Well, honestly, I was thinking something like this, but bigger." Alyx chuckled and braced himself behind his shield again, preparing for another attack. At least he could hold its attention. It hit way to hard to allow it to run amok.

Rota continued to pound on the aura boar and bring up his own stamina. he was finally back at a point that he felt comfortable letting loose again. As his blade shone a vibrant red, The 'Boar' reeled back and let out another astral shriek as it rained light down from the heavens. He prepared to take yet another bolt as Croire shuddered in fear a bit. "You need to look alive, Croire. Remember what I told you." She cinched up he glasses and looked determined as she hid in Rota's breastplate and braced for impact as he cleaved into the beast.

Alyx took the light storm extremely well, actually, and the blast of light exploded around him without damaging him in the least. He almost seemed to absorb it, drawing as much strength from the blast as he did. It was about time to start dealing damage again, and Alyx' highest level arte was thrust. He really wanted to level that arte to its maximum, so he'd spend this wonderful opportunity to do just that. He charged Gloomfang with a burst of light and prepared to drive the point home. He could afford a little bit of risk, with how well they were doing, and every little bit of damage was going to help destroy this monstrosity.

Rota struck hard as he took a bolt square in the back to protect his faerie friend. "Well, despite not being what you intended, this is one hell of a fight!" His blade remained glowing as he struck out at the Boar again. if Alyx was going to just keep it focused on him, he was going to take advantage of its every lapse in judgment. Alyx' blade dug into the monster's essence and Rota's did likewise. The thing seemed not to notice, though, and continued its rampage. Alyx was reconsidering his former approach to this fight. He may need to switch to a strictly defensive stance in order to stick it out. He worried that if the boar got in any really good hits, he could be really hurting toward the end of this fight. His health was still solidly in the green, but he wasn't confident that this creature was a one-trick pony. It could bring any sort of death out of its a** at this point, and Alyx wouldn't be able to call haxx on it; there was just no comparing this thing to any monster that existed in the game. Hell, you could hardly compare it to Alyx and Rota. For now, he'd get in a few more hits. But he'd keep an eye on his health bar and make sure to be ready for the paradigm shift.

Rota could feel the power start to drain from his body. the added strength was beginning to wear off. But as long as the boar was going to keep itself open, he was going to keep doing his damnedest to hack it to pieces. Despite the continuously raining light, he needed to press on with his offensive and prepared for whatever hit was about to come his way. He knew that he could take the hits this thing was dishing out. he just needed to be patient with the fight and stay focused on the task at hand. This HAD to be doable, and he would be the one to make it happen.

Alyx took a horrible hit. It was harder than anything he'd been hit with in a very long time. The monster was suddenly striking like it had forgotten its damage algorithm and finally figured out where it had left it. Alyx had to go on the defensive at least somewhat. Lifting his shield, he decided that he'd give Rota a better opportunity, since the swordsman's aim seemed to be wearing out. Alyx didn't blame him: this thing was a monster. This was an exhausting ordeal, but the glorious vision of unimaginable treasures kept Alyx moving forward. This was just the same as the time he'd first fought the gloomqueen. He just had to keep on fighting, and everything would work out for the best.

Well THAT sucked! Bright side, Rota managed to still hit the boar and do some damage. Dim side, he felt like he did very little considering that last bolt ******** HURT. at least hurt more than usual. He was still doing well, he just needed to press on. They'd managed a fairly significant amount of work so far: they'd decreased the thing's health enough that Alyx felt comfortable enough to say that it was about 20% dead. So they'd done enough damage to know that it could be damaged. Alyx, himself, was right around 80%, and Rota, was somewhere around there, too. In this war of attrition, everyone was losing. That was fine, though. They had the ability to heal their wounds, however slowly, and Alyx could always switch into full tank mode so Rota could go full howitzer, and they could wreck this thing with security and impunity. But for now, they were safe going at this speed. They just couldn't keep it up forever. Alyx would be ready to make that call when the time came. He realized, though, that he was losing the boar's attention, and resolved to slap it in the face to get his status as lead a**-kicker reinstated.

Rota had finally gassed out on that Witch's brew. While normally this would be the point where he would just down another, this was an opportunity that he couldn't pass up. The Boar was still uneasy on its hooves and being particularly defensive. It was time to build some stamina back up. Rota's blade thrust at the flank of the beast, ready and willing to pierce it through.

Alyx' attack seemed to have stunned the beast into compliance, and Alyx was not going to be upset about that. The golden monstrosity was more than welcome to lay down and do absolutely nothing for the rest of the fight, if that's what it really wanted. Alyx would be gentle as he ripped every last piece of spectrum out of its radiant form. This thing was a record-setting beast, and it should have record-setting loot, although Alyx would not be surprised if loot did not yet exist for this monstrous power level. What business did they have fighting this sort of a creature on the first floor? This thing could look at 95% of the players in the game and vaporize them. Alyx had to imagine that they had accidentally stumbled upon an exploit that, had someone else stumbled upon it, he would have had to address in his capacity as an admin. Still, they were handling it remarkably well, and there were probably no two players better suited for this fight than Rota and himself. Alyx decided to catch his breath for now, and took cover behind his shield.
