Crenu wasn't that surprised to see Raichu laying there unconscious as well, that Body Slam looked like it took everything the Mouse Pokemon had. But still, a double KO wasn't something he predicted being a part of ever, especially in a gym match. He recalled Swinub to his pokeball, looking at it for a moment. He wasn't angry or upset, Swinub fought well. "You earned a rest Swinub, I'm impressed. But a tie isn't winning, we'll have to work on that." He was getting ready to go when he noticed Surge call over the elder man with the Pikachu, unsure what there was to deliberate. Crenu lost plain and simple, at least that's how he saw it. The gentleman went off and Surge approached Crenu, he just looked at the Lieutenant and cracked his neck listening to him speak. "Yes, interesting if nothing else I'll admit. Your daughter also gave me an interesting battle, so I shouldn't be surprised. But you beat me Surge, that much is clear I think." The gentleman had returned with the box and Surge was offering it to him, giving him something about how he'd earned it or whatever, grinning the whole time. It kinda reminded him of how Kasi was constantly smiling, and he didn't like it. But what he hated even more was the fact that Surge was trying to give him the badge with a draw, even if the leader decided that Crenu had done good enough to take home the prize Crenu wasn't satisfied with it at all. A tie was as good as a loss, it meant that he was unable to overcome his opponent and come out on top. If anything it made him angry, angrier than a loss would have. At least a loss meant there was a clear distinction between them and he could accept it, but a tie left so many 'what if's up in the air and it made Crenu's skin crawl. He noticed Jaeshan coming over as well as the others watching, knowing full well that he couldn't openly object now without looking foolish, and it would have been rather rude as well. Crenu gritted his teeth, reluctantly reaching out and taking the glimmering box, feeling like it's very touch was burning him terribly. But despite his inner turmoil, Crenu's face remained calm and stoic. "...thank you Surge. But know that I only take this with the full intention of coming back here and really earning it with a total victory. Next time there won't be any question about the victor." With that Crenu bowed to the large man and turned to leave, placing the case in his bag as he made for the exit. The idea of getting a badge through charity severely burning in his mind still.

Ken clapped, following Jaeshan onto the field. "Oh yes I completely agree! That was so fun to watch, so close to the end! Honestly I couldn't even breath, great job you two! I think Shiro earned that for sure, even if he didn't win he showed some impressive moves I think, especially since he and Swinub haven't really gotten use to each other yet." Kenneth couldn't help but smile, watching as Crenu took the case. Oh he had grown so much, Ken was happy that he was coming along. But his next words and sudden departure were also a train that came with his growing up. "Um please forgive him Lieutenant Surge, he's a bit rough around the edges still. Heh heh heh." He scratched his head sheepishly as he apologized for his friend, chasing after him. Well at least he bowed and thanked the man. Froslass was close behind, worried about her furry pig friend seeing as he had taken quite a thrashing in that battle right there. And She could tell, her trainer was upset.

When the fight ended in a draw, Riza quieted down and watched the exchange between Surge and Crenu. The older man and his Pikachu brought out one of those golden boxes, and even though she knew that Surge was sincere about awarding Crenu the badge, Riza knew him well enough by now to know he wouldn't be happy with it. 'He probably thinks Surge gave it to him out of pity, even though that's obviously not the case,' she thought, wondering what would have happened if her match had ended in a draw. She wouldn't have wanted to get her first badge in that manner, though if Surge said she was worthy of it, who was she to go against him? She looked over at Jaeshan as he stood up, but she remained where she was, even as Crenu and Ken both left the gym in a rush. She sighed, and looked at the floor before looking at Jaeshan again. "I guess we should go," she said quietly. She slung her backpack over her shoulder and turned to leave, but stopped and looked back at Surge, one of Crenu's previous statements coming to mind. 'Daughter? Crenu battled against Surge's daughter?' she thought, a bit intrigued by the idea. "I didn't know Surge had a daughter. And Crenu met her?" she asked Jae, now very much wanting answers.

After only a short while of wandering around Katie found herself feeling pretty bored. There weren't many people around, as the sky was starting to darken up a bit. Katie didn't really want to go too far or really leave town yet, as she didn't think she'd be able to get too far before it was too dark to travel anymore, and though she knew her Pokemon could protect her Katie didn't want to be out that late and traveling around. Who knew what kind of crazies lurked in the shadows.

She had decided to go back to Jubilife City tomorrow morning, though her stay there would only be a short one. She planned to stock up on supplies if need be and then head north in the direction she'd gone when she first left home, but this time she would go through the Ravaged Path and continue up along route 205 until she reached Floaroma Town. Something about the Ravaged Path was tugging at her mind though she couldn't quite remember what it was. It was annoying, and the more she tried to remember it the more frustrated she became.

Before long Katie found herself at the entrance to the Oreburgh Gate, but it was at that point that she decided to turn back. All the walking had tired her out and after her busy day of biking, training and winning her first Sinnoh league badge, she was ready for bed. On that note she turned back and headed for the pokecenter, eager to call it a night.

Surge wasn't at all surprised by Crenu's reaction, and he simply nodded when Crenu said he'd be back someday to truly earn the badge. "I wouldn't want it any other way," he said, watching with a light smirk as the boy exited the gym. He knew that the next time he battled with Crenu it would be different, yet even still he looked forward to it. "Don't worry about it, it's to be expected," he added to Ken before he too exited they gym. He looked over at Riza and Jaeshan, a little surprised to see that the two of them hadn't left the gym as of yet. The older man excused himself and left the main gym room through a side, leaving the gym leader alone with the two young trainers. As such, he couldn't help but overhear Riza's question to Jaeshan, and he made his way over to the two. "Yep, I do have a daughter. Two actually," he added, though he somewhat muttered the last part under his breath. "Jaeshan here knows her too, perhaps you've met her? Name's Kasiya. Kindhearted little thing, just like her mama." He pulled his wallet out of his back pocket and flipped it open before pulling out several pictures, though the only fairly recent one was of Kasiya and her then-Pikachu, taken just after they'd defeated him and his Raichu. "If you see her, tell her to gimme a call. I ain't heard from her in a while."

"There's your answer," Jaeshan said, chuckling as he stepped forward to take a look at the photos, and he smiled when he saw the girl grinning up at him from the somewhat-wrinkled picture. "I haven't seen her in a few days, but I'll give her my regards if I do see her," he said. Now that he thought about it, though, the more he was sure that Kasiya had been pretty excited about the trip to Sinnoh and he quietly wondered if she'd headed to Lilycove to board the ship. He checked his watch - it was just after noon, and that meant the ship had probably already departed.

"But yeah, there aren't many people that I know that Kasi hasn't met," Jaeshan said with a chuckle, running his hands through his hair. "We should go, though. I would like to get Kakuna and Squirtle healed." He bid goodbye to Surge and headed outside as well, his sights set on the Pokemon Center.

"Hey hey, where ya going in such a hurry? Don't you think we should wait for the others?" Ken caught up to Crenu just outside the gym doors, smiling still but a bit worried. Crenu was being silly of course, but that draw must have really pissed him off. "You two did well Shiro, you did earn that badge. Come on, you know I wouldn't lie to you man. I'm to good a friend to patronize you." And that was the truth, he just hoped Crenu knew that as well. Even if Crenu didn't look it he was obviously in a foul mood and he wanted to try and get him out of it.

"...yeah, guess we should wait." He stopped when Ken did, listening to his words. But he still wasn't comfortable with the idea of the draw. He knew Kenneth would say he earned it, he knew Jaeshan and Riza would say the same thing as well. Maybe even he agreed somewhere in his mind, but that didn't make it any less acceptable. "There's only winning and losing Ken, no middle ground. If there's ever a draw in a battle, you set up and go again until a definite victor arises...that's what I think. So what if I impressed the gym leader and 'earned' the badge? I don't care about that, I don't care about the badge or the money or any of that stuff. Its all trivial, the only thing I care about is the win. I could never have earned a badge in my life and I'd be perfect alright with that as long as I win, the same goes for contests. Ribbons? Badges? Grand Contests and Pokemon Leagues? None of that matters to me. I only take the challenges because that's the only way to fight the best of the best and get to the top." Crenu's words were harsh and precise, his demeanor cold with a slight frown as he explained this to Kenneth, wanting to make his point clear. But as he looked at him something popped up in his mind. "Ken...what did you come here for? Why did you come find me? Just tell me already and then you can be on your way."

Kenneth watched Crenu with a hurt look, he didn't like what he was hearing one bit. What the hell happened to make him so obsessive all of a sudden? This definitely wasn't the boy he left behind in Ecruteak when started his adventure all those years ago. But all that vanished from his mind when Crenu asked his question. Ken was silent, nervousness gripping the normally cheery man. "W-what do you mean? That's mean of you Shiro, honestly. You want to get rid of me that bad, come one we're friends after all. I told you...that can wait. No need to worry about that sort of stuff now." This was bad, Crenu was already in a bad mood so there was no way he could tell him now. Hell he wasn't sure if Crenu was ever in a good mood, but more neutral than this anyway. But the boy was stubborn, he knew that much. This wasn't going to be easy to get out of anymore.

"Save it, I'm not in the mood for this. Just tell me now Ken, don't waste any more of my time dancing around it. Obviously it's important enough for you to track me down across two regions and bad enough for you not to want to tell me." He stared at Kenneth with a cold hard glare, clearly more malevolent than usual. He wasn't gonna take no for an answer, he would have no more foolishness from this man right now. "Tell me now or don't tell me at all, your presence bothers me as it is and knowing that you're holding information just makes it that much worse. Now spill it."

"I...W-well..." Damn it, this was it. There was no hiding it any longer. Crenu was stubborn as a Tauros and as angry as one too. His cold glare was sharp as a knife, and Kenneth couldn't help it anymore. "Alright, fine. I'll tell you. But please Shiro, try not to fly off the handle....Well. Y-you know how Ayane has always been sick, the poor thing. We all knew this day would come...but it didn't make it any easier. Shiro...Ayane...she passed away a few days ago. She couldn't hold out any longer, she just wasn't strong enough." There was a tear in Ken's eye as he told Crenu the news, it was still hard to accept even now.

"What?" Crenu's expression changed so suddenly, not to a sad one but a confused one. This couldn't be could it? He knew she was sick but she seemed stable enough. She told him so himself, the last time he was home she looked fine! She said she still had a lifetime ahead of her as long as she took it easy. This couldn't be! "What...what the hell happened? Why wasn't I told until now? A few days ago? She said she was fine...did the doctors have it wrong?" This was all so sudden, so twisted.

Ken could only shake his head, he knew Crenu would ask these questions but it wasn't easy. "No Shiro, the doctors knew this was coming. She did as well...if she told you otherwise it's because she didn't want you to worry. She was sweet like that...I'm so sorry Shiro." Damn, Ken could see the pain in Crenu's face. It was there, hidden a little perhaps but it was definitely there. That made this next part even harder. "Your mother...she did try to tell you. She said she called you countless times, but it would always ring and ring and then go to voicemail. She...she even said you must have hit ignore a few times because it went straight to voicemail without ringing...if you had picked up you would have known too. Ayane didn't want you to worry but she wanted to see you one last time to make sure you were doing well. I'm sorry." He really didn't want to tell him that, but it was the truth after all. "I came to tell you that...and to tell you that the funeral is later this week. I know I made a big deal about going to Sinnoh and stuff, I didn't want you to feel like you had to go...that's it I guess. Message delivered."

Rhyhorn stamped around confused and worried, the little mouse just vanished! Did he really squash the little thing? Was it no more!? What was going on? Brock was also surprised, he really hadn't expected the trainer's Rattata to use Dig. But that just went to show that one shouldn't size up their opponent. "Rhyhorn calm down! If you over react like that then we'll lose for sure. Just relax buddy, Rattata's underground." This was troublesome, a Dig attack would be very painful, but there really wasn't anything Rhyhorn could do. He was still young and inexperienced, not old enough to know Earthquake yet. So for now Rattata was untouchable, Brock would just have to wait until it surfaced and come up with a devastating counter. Rhyhorn listened to his trainers words and stopped moving, trying to remain calm.

Crenu didn't say anything at first, how could he? Ken was right, his phone had been ringing like crazy ever since the festival, and the missed call history on his phone was filled with calls from 'House' and 'Mother', he hadn't even thought about picking up once. But how could he have known? He thought it was just his mom trying to talk to him about some useless crap like always, but she was so persistent with it he should have known something was up. He forgot one of the most fundamental rules, and that was not to let your own likes and dislikes cloud your judgment. He disliked his mother so much that he just ignored the calls. Ayane...wanted to see him again? That was her dying wish, she must have passed on feeling hurt that she wasn't able to see her friend one last time. She must have thought that Crenu didn't care, that Crenu purposely decided not to come back home to see her off...and now she was gone. His friend, his only real friend in this world. So sweet and warm was she that Crenu's cold persona never bothered her or deterred her from befriending him. But she wasn't like Ken who just chose to ignore Crenu's reactions and hung aroudn anyway, no she respected his wishes at first and kept her distance, a friendly gesture here or there until Crenu finally warmed up to her. And now she was gone. Not again... Crenu's body began to shake a little as he was remembering what it was like when his father died, and now it was happening all over again. Crenu wasn't able to do anything again, he was to weak to protect someone else he cared about. It happened again! He couldn't even grant her her last wish of him, how absolutely worthless he was! This was the point where he was about to break down and spiral, where Crenu was going to be overwhelmed by the sadness he was feeling and shut himself off from everything like he had when his father had died. But he didn't. Things were different now, he knew better. He shut himself off again, but it was different this time, something in his mind suddenly turned on. He wouldn't let himself be filled with more sadness, this was a mistake. A weakness. An illogical emotion like the others that had no place in the real world. And Crenu wasn't weak. He would never be weak again, not ever. He stopped shaking, standing up straight and looking at Ken, calm faced like usual, but something was off. "I see. If that's how it was, then there was nothing that could be done. People get sick, people die, it's as simple as that. By being there wouldn't have changed a thing. In fact it would have only been a waste of my time. What is lost is lost, it's best not to remain on the past. You've delivered your message, what you do is no longer my concern. Go home, stay here, follow me around, I don't care. I'm going to go to the pokemon center and get Swinub healed." Crenu placed his hands in his pockets and turned away from Ken, casually walking towards the center.

"So Kasiya's dad is a gym leader then," Riza said, also taking a quick look at the photo. It was definitely her alright. "That explains why she loves her Raichu so much, like father like daughter I suppose." She looked up at the large gym leader and gave another slight bow. "Thanks again, Lieutenant," she said. "For everything." Her own Pokemon weren't in need of treatment thanks to the older man but she could understand Jae's rush to get his Pokemon healed. She followed Jaeshan until they were outside, though she stopped for a moment, looking around to try and spot where Crenu and Ken had gone.

It wasn't hard to find them as Ken's glittering cape was like a lighthouse beacon in a storm, though she was hesitant to approach them. They were discussing something, and judging by the severe shift in Ken's attitude it was something serious. Whatever it was, it seemed to affect Crenu quite badly as she could see him shaking from where she stood. It wasn't at all surprising to see him shrug it off a moment or so later, but Riza couldn't help but feel worried for him. Though she knew she might regret it she followed along after him, only slowing her pace when she was walking along side him. She didn't say anything right away as she didn't know quite what to say, but the worry in her eyes was quite apparent when she stole a sideways glance at him. Whatever Ken had told him must have been something big.

As the darkness settled in over Oreburgh the streetlights came on one by one, and it didn't take long for Katie to notice that Seraphim had seemed to get quite drowsy as a result. 'She must be more active in the sunshine,' she thought as she recalled the flower Pokemon into her poke ball. Kord on the other hand was very energetic as he had jumped down from his perch and was running along side his trainer, the electricity present between his prongs giving off a good amount of light. "Are you going to be able to sleep tonight?" she asked him as they walked, though not surprisingly the Elekid did not answer her.

They were only a few blocks away from the pokecenter when Katie heard a screeching sound from above her and felt the rush of wind overhead as something swooped down on her. She gave a startled cry and dropped to the ground, covering her head with her hands. The screeches were more than enough to let her know that a couple of Zubat had attacked, and without a second thought she looked to Kord. "Go get them, Kord!"

"Bi!" The Elekid nodded, looking up at the bats as they swooped down overhead. There were three in all, and he scoffed a little, that wasn't much of a challenge! He crouched low, waiting for a good opportunity, and when one of the Zubat came swooping down near him he jumped up, rearing back his hands before planting a solid cross chop to the back of one's head. It gave a screech and fell to the ground, and after a moment or so hobbled back up into the air. Kord's attack had successfully taken the zubat's attention away from Katie as now the three were looking at him, their fangs glistening in the moonlight.

Crenu kept walking towards the center, though he was aware of someone coming up behind him. At first he thought it was Ken, but when they pulled up beside him he could see that it was actually Riza. He kept looking forward, not really wanting to say anything and unsure if she knew what was going on but he had a feeling she was aware that he was upset. But he couldn't help looking at her for a second, the same moment she chose to steal a glance at him. "....what's with that look? You worried? Heh heh, you should no better than that. I'm fine." He said plainly, slowing his pace a bit so she didn't have to walk to fast. That's right, Crenu still had Riza. But was that such a good thing? Whatever it was they had was still knew, and if it did blossom into somethign more and he let himself get closer to her, then what? Would she become sick as well? Would her fate be the same as his fathers, as Ayane's? Hell, did Crenu even have any feelings left to give? He had started closing himself off after receiving that news, deciding that the best way to avoid feeling the way he did when Ken told him about Ayane was to stop feeling anything at all. " He looked at Riza again, deciding to tell her. "My friend died. But she was sick, it was inevitable. That's it, nothing more and nothing less. I was a little shocked when Ken told me but I'm alright now so please don't worry....I usually don't care but I don't want you to worry. You're cuter when you're not worried." It was uncharacteristic of him, but Crenu figured it was the only way to get her to stop looking at him with those eyes so Crenu put his arm around Riza's shoulders and pulled her a little closer to him. But he didn't smile even a little, he just wore the same stoic expression the whole time.

Since he was restricted to the ground now Raz thought that the use of Psychic was actually a pretty smart move by his trainer. Scuttling around a bit no where near as coordinated on the ground then he was in the air he made sure he kept an eye on the Pelipper. He still wasn't exactly used to having psychic powers despite the earlier training but he was still pretty confident he could get that Pelipper. Focusing his energy Raz imagined grabbing onto the other pokemon.

"Hey don't think your the only one with a trick up their sleeve Pelipper use your Protect!" John ordered with a grin. Watching with a grin as his pokemon was suddenly surrounded by a green bubble protecting it from whatever that Yanma was gunna do. Now that he knew that it knew psychic that pokemon became a lot more dangerous even if it was stuck on the ground. "All right Pelipper let's show them another one of your Water Pulse's! Let's keep that Yanma soaking wet and on the ground." The green shell of Protect fading away the Pelipper was already getting its next Water Pulse ready.

"Ooooh! Raz!" Robin hadn't been ready for such a quick sucession of attacks, this was probably what it felt like for the other trainer when Raz was up in the air blitzing them. Well Robin couldn't say she liked the feeling. "Ah Raz escape that Water Pulse with a Faint Attack!" Robin finally managed to order as the water pulse was launched at her poor Yanma. To Raz a Faint Attack sounded much better then getting blasted with another dose of icky water. Not waiting a second longer the speedy Yanma disappeared into darkness and appeared right ontop of the Pelipper. Latching onto the other pokemon for dear life Raz did his best to do as much damage as he could to the Pelipper and still hold on, he didn't want to crash down onto the ground again just as he got back up into the air.

Though Brock had gotten his Rhyhorn to calm down, Rattata had already heard it stomping around and rushed towards the location of the sound. He dug his way up the surface of the arena and darted out at Rhyhorn, slamming into the creature before darting back to where Train stood on the opposite end of the arena. The little purple and white-tan mouse looked even smaller compared to the Rock- and Ground-type Brock had sent out, and she wished he’d sent out his usual Geodude instead. But maybe he’d send it out second, instead of Onix? Though that was really even assuming she got to his second Pokémon. Things seemed to be going okay for now though, so why shouldn’t she think she would?

+=+=+=+

The Zigzagoon straightened itself up and let out a cute little Growl, trying to lower Ghos’ attack. Of course, being a Normal-type move, this attack had absolutely no effect. ”Will-o-wisp again, Ghos,” Leon said boredly. He could’ve tried using Hypnosis, but that would’ve been even more boring, watching a sleeping Pokémon get hurt by burn until it fainted. Ghos sent out another bit of flames at the Zigzagoon, scorching the Pokémon once more. The tinyracoon Pokémon struggled to his feet but remained standing, even while its burn hurt it again. It went in for another attempt at a Tackle, but, predictably, ended up going straight through Ghos.

One more Will-o-wisp was all it took, though, and the Zigzagoon now lay fainted in front of the battlers. Ghos floated over the Pokémon, staring at it curiously. It was all spiky! He wanted to poke it but…he had no hands. Or limbs in general. Darn…this was a tad restricting. The Ghost-type looked up only to notice Leon and Muuma already a few feet away, and quickly rushed over to keep up with them. Muuma glanced back at the baby and rolled her eyes a bit, to which Ghos stuck out his tongue out at her. She turned away and, seeing that he was being ignored, Ghos licked her. Muuma opened her mouth to let out a loud screech when Leon turned to them and said, ”Stop fooling around!” very sternly, and startling the both of them. Leon just looked back to the path and shook his head a bit. Ugh, these two were gonna be a handful…

"Oh-ho?" Mike replied with an excited giggle. "Hee-hee! Is that some anger I see? MORE! Give me more!" He shouted, slamming his foot on the ground. "I want to be able to feel your rage, I want to smell your anger, I WANT TO TASTE YOUR FRUSTRATION! NAPALM, LET US GIVE HIM SOMETHING TO BE ANGRY ABOUT!" He grit his teeth together, and in a gravely, furious voice, ordered another Psychic attack. The Magmar slid his foot back and steadied himself, releasing another telekinetic wave towards the Torkoal.

The Coal Pokemon lowered its head to cushion the blast. The loose rock and dust behind it were sent flying into the air by Napalm's attack, but the turtle remained stationary. It glared back at both the trainer and the Pokemon.
Please don't think ill of him, Portabello thought to himself. He's not like this. This isn't him. He wanted to speak up, but he couldn't. He had done enough meddling today, and didn't want his master to get more rash and angry.

"Hahaha! That's it, Vesuvius!" the boy shouted back. "MADDER! MADDER!!" Napalm kept up his attack, launching Psychic attack after Psychic attack at the Pokemon. He felt a certain uneasiness at the ferocity of his attacks. The Torkoal retreated into its shell, the attacks all but bouncing off harmlessly. Mike laughed once again. "You can't stay cooped up forever Vesuvius! You can't stay shielded away from the rest of the world for as long as you like; I should know! You've got to emerge, to take your misfortune along with the good, otherwise..." he paused only to let his smile grow even larger.

"OTHERWISE YOU'LL JUST GO CRAZY!"

While Sasha awaited for Mitsu's response, her uneasiness only exciting the girl further, she saw her new friend approach her. "Merci!" After giving her a good look, which Sasha facilitated with a pose or two, he told her of Keegan's apparent sea-sickness. "Oh, all boys from Lavaridge have zhat." she said with utmost certainty. "Zey're so far inland zhat zhey know not zhe pleasures of sea travel. A pity, really. Le plus énervant." Her mind then went back to Eraku's earlier statement about an interview. "Oh!" Her eyes lit up. "Where is she?" The girl looked around frantically. A chance to get on television was every girl's dream.

Maxi stared at the crazed trainer as he began his bout with the coal pokemon. The fire trainer’s words to the stoic pokemon made Maxi cringe with a hint of disgust, but he remembered that Portabello said his trainer was not right in the head at the moment. His eyes could only stay watching the trainer… trying to sense the disturbance within his mind. Maxi was not a psychic, but he could sense the disturbance within one’s ‘ki’ or that is what his master said anyways. Lee also watched the trainer and his Magmar. The scuffle pokemon raised an eyebrow as he saw the surprise in the Magmar’s eyes. The pokemon must not be put into combat often, though it seems he is very strong. Lee paid attention to the battle for he never seen other trainers battle besides his master’s master.

Maxi could feel the rage flowing though the trainer and he could also see that the Torkoal was annoyed as well. ”It should be interesting to see the battle that is about to unfold, wont it Lee?” The scuffle pokemon nodded and leaped to his master's shoulder. The two focused on the battle before them.

Once exiting the Vermilion Gym Jaeshan started walking right towards the Pokemon Center, though after a few steps he realized Riza wasn't following him. He glanced back to see that she was hesitantly watching Crenu and Ken as the two spoke, and though he silently wondered what was up he chose to stay out of it for now. All the time he'd spent in this city previously had certainly paid off, as by now he could practically make his way to the Pokemon Center blindfolded. As he walked he looked back once more, seeing that both Riza and Crenu had started walking as well, and he raised an eyebrow when he saw Crenu put an arm around Riza's shoulders and pulled her closer to him. He smirked a bit and continued walking, putting his thoughts back towards the Rainbow Badge he soon hoped to have in his possession. He knew the gym leader of Celadon City used Grass-type Pokemon, and though he had Blaziken to help him fight this battle he knew he couldn't rely solely on her to win the match. Then again he could always pull out Victreebel and see how his own Grass-type stacked up against Erika's, and he also had Mightyena and Nidoking as well, and none of those three had seen any battling action lately. Might be time to switch them up a bit, he thought to himself as he stepped through the sliding doors of the Pokemon Center.

Without hesitation he headed right up to the front desk and gave Kakuna and Squirtle's Pokeballs to the nurse, and once they'd been handed over he made his way over to the computer in the corner to figure out what to do with his party. Obviously he was going to keep his two newest Pokemon with him, as he was a bit anxious to see Kakuna evolve into a Beedrill, and he wanted to help Squirtle to build up his confidence as well. Before he could even get to his Pokemon Storage system he saw that he had an unread email, though he couldn't for the life of him figure out who would be sending him one. Neither of his parents were techno-savvy enough to figure out how to even turn on a computer and anyone else who wanted to contact him would have just sent him a message or called him via his PokeNav.

The email, however, was actually from Professor Birch and was quite unexpected. It seemed like it had been written quite hastily, though the gist of the message had basically said that he was having problems with keeping Pokemon at his laboratory and that Jaeshan's parents had volunteered to keep their son's Pokemon at home with them. At first the news was surprising, but Jaeshan realized that this was probably another way for them to show that they approved of him following his own dreams and becoming a Pokemon trainer instead of a neurosurgeon. Even still, it meant that Mightyena, Nidoking and Victreebel were all located at his parents' place, and though he knew they meant well he wasn't so sure they could handle it. The actual process of changing his party around hadn't changed much, however, and after some thought he highlighted Butterfree's and Mightyena's icons and switched their positions. He set Butterfree's Pokeball on the transporter before making the transfer, and after a moment or so the red and white sphere began to glow before it vanished, and then a few seconds later it was replaced by another. Smiling, Jaeshan picked up the Pokeball and attached it to his belt. He logged off the computer and went back over to the front desk, eager to see if his Pokemon were ready yet.

Riza forced a weak smile when Crenu said he was fine, no surprises there. Then again she was sure he would say he was fine, even if he was mortally wounded or something like that. She saw Jaeshan walking ahead of them now, remembering how eager he had been to get to the center to heal his Pokemon, so she didn't say anything and just let him go. She looked back over at Crenu, fully expecting him to remain quiet for the rest of the walk to the pokecenter, but when he suddenly told her the news Ken had given her, she felt a slight pang. Though he tried to make it sound like it didn't bother him she knew it must have really hurt him. She managed another small smile when he said she was cuter when she wasn't worried, and again he surprised her by making a move and putting his arm around her. "I can't help it," she said quietly, letting her head rest against his shoulder, though it was a little awkward as they were still walking. "I...care about you, so I can't help but worry." She could feel an awkward redness starting to creep into her cheeks, but she didn't care. Even though he said he was fine Riza knew otherwise and she wasn't about to let him go through this alone. "You might think it's silly of me, or even weak, but that's just how it is so you're going to have to deal with it." Her tone was serious yet sincere, and as they neared the center she bit her lower lip, not sure what his reaction would be to her little speech.

"Argh! I'm so sick of Zubat!" Katie shouted as she got back to her feet, brushing the dirt from her knees. She glanced over at her Elekid as he was now facing three of the winged hellions, and frowned. Maybe it wasn't such a good idea having Kord fight all three of them at once. "....Be careful Kord," she told him, her hand ready to grab Genki's poke ball if needed.

Kord on the other hand didn't seem to be worried at all. If anything, he looked quite happy to be battling again. The first Zubat, the one that he'd already smacked in the head gave an awful screech and dived at him, inviting his two friends to do the same. Kord smirked, electricity sparking from his plugs and he jumped up, somersaulting over the first and landing a swift punch to the face of one of the Zubat flunkies. It wasn't the most damaging of things but it did have the effect Kord so desired - the static from his body passed onto the purple bat and it crashed to the ground as its whole body was wracked by paralysis. Smirking the Elekid landed behind his downed foe and looked towards the other two Zubat dauntingly. He'd been itching to battle since well before dinnertime and he was going to teach these flying wretches a lesson for attacking his Katie!

Crenu didn't say anything after he put his arm aroudn Riza, thinking that should be enough. Knowing what was bugging him might have been enough to keep her satisfied, or at least that's what he believed. He was new to this whole thing, the concept of relationships was something he knew very little about. He didn't read romantic stories or watch that kind of thing on TV, all he knew was what he had seen between his mother and father when he was young, and of course back then he thought it was silly the way they acted and paid no attention to it. One could say he was going on instincts alone and the few things one can't help but to notice in popular media. So everything to him was some form of calculated approach where in X situation if Y is introduced then N should be the probable outcome. But Riza's next words threw him off completely, the variable disappeared in his mind as they accounted for none of this and a bit of redness appeared on his face as well. She...cared about him. They had known each other for only so long, and had been 'together' for even less. And yet, she cared about him. But he liked her, that was a fact. Something about her just seemed right in his mind. Nearing the center now they stopped and Crenu stood there for a moment. "...I guess I am." Yeah, this was ok. He didn't want for something to happen to her either, he knew he'd be just as upset if something did. Crenu turned to face her, a small smile tugging at the corners of his mouth. "Thank you." Crenu could feel his heart rate increasing, though he didn't know why. And suddenly as if his body were moving on it's own, he leaned forward and quickly pressed his lips against hers for a quick kiss. Once he came to and regained control of himself though he pulled back, standing up right and feeling rather embarrassed. "Ahem, s-so....what now?" What the hell was that? He didn't just kiss her out of the blue did he? He wanted to say he was sorry and that his body was acting on it's own, but he wasn't really sure if that was the truth. What now, that was the best he could come up with? But it was all he wanted to know, because right now his mind was in a jumble.

Rhyhorn let out a loud cry when Rattata slammed into his body from the earth below, the small rodent's earthy tackle felt like it had cut into his rocky body. Rhyhorn stumbled back, but recovered. That was two hits he owed the pesky Rattata, and Rhyhorn was pissed. "Be thankful that Rattata's a normal type or that could have hurt a lot more. But still, you'd better watch yourself Rhyhorn. Strike back now with another Rock Tomb!" And like that Rhyhorn was on the move, more than eager to smash up this purple pest. Rhyhorn bounded forward and stomped hard, sending more jagged rocks shooting upwards from the ground around Rattata.
