You walk through the dark, shadowed forest. In the middle of a clearing, with one single ray of light centered on it, is a mirror. What do you see when you look at it?
I see my reflection - I see who I really am inside.
I see who I have become - all my past efforts and endeavors roll before my eyes.
I see potential - the future, with all its possibilties, becomes clear to me.
I see my inner demons. I recognize them, so that I may conquer them.
I see darkness; the mirror is not a mirror, but a window to my soul.
I see someone else - the mirror is not a mirror, but a window, showing me my heart's true desire.
I refuse to examine the mirror. It is an illusion - I do not need it to tell me what I already know.

Ephlas turned and blinked at Leonard. His water doppleganger, consequentially, turned around and blinked at an invisible figure behind itself.

"Hello. I can tell you're the Archmagus, but you aren't the one I remember... was there a new position, recently?"

The clone of water said the same thing, to the air behind it. Magus and clone were linked at the moment, neither possessing the ability to operate separate of the other. Ephlas was now holding two conversations, each halfway across the continent.

The clone turned back to Farfarello. Ephlas had to turn back to his pool to do this, as well.

"Farfarello, it isn't that I don't want you to touch me; it's that you can't touch me or I'll lose control of the ganger. That did sound a lot better in my head, however...."

Ephlas had to say these words into the pool, so Leonard and Clem were hearing his entire side of the conversation with Far, while Far's group was hearing his entire side of the conversation with Leonard and Clem.

"No." Leonard replied flatly, "I've been the Archmagus for a while now... Unless you were talking about the Sub-archmagus, who's been receiving everything you've sent..."

He was rather irate at the comment, He had been the Archmagus for quite a few years now... Clem blinked, "Alright, Leonard, there was still the scrying that you wanted me to see before we went to turnin the..." He gazed at Ephlas, then whispered back to Leonard, "Is it alright for him to hear?"

"Yes, Clem, he can know about what's in the vault..."

"Good, so the Magitech Gravitic Nullifier will then go back into the Vault with the other objects..." Clem finished.

((Gravitic? That word screams, "Star Ocean." XD))

Ephlas returned to his conversation in reality. Unfortunately (or maybe not; Ephlas really didn't care if the others could hear his conversations), Far's group could hear every word that Ephlas said to Leonard and Clem.

"Right. I must have been gone for quite some time... well, actually, not gone; just not here. And who is this sub-archmagus?"

True enough, Ephlas had not had anything to do with the 'Academy of Magic and Science' for a number of years. The elves were quite fascinating, and he could say he was trapped in Borza because he had picked an unfortunate time to make the journey back into Eopia, but the truth was that he never intended to return to the Academy.

His goal had been a place in Baelta that not even the Academy knew anything about. He had never gotten there. Now the entire continent was covered by a massive storm. That only left... Rantuinne.

(I only played the one nobody likes...)

"The Sub-Archmagus is an elf by the name of Nathezian Keldor. He has purple hair." Leonard replied.

Clem snorted, drawing a raised eyebrow from Leonard, "What's so funny Clem? You hair is far from natural. His is merely tinged by magic."

Ephlas inhaled deeply, but did not reply to this. Instead, he addressed Clem: "Did you, by any chance, obtain any samples of the air in the Mines? Preferably at the deepest level."

Of course, all of Farfarello's group was capable of hearing Ephlas, and only Ephlas', side of this conversation.

Clem looked in his bag, "I got one sample..." He said, holding up a reinforced metal container. "I intended to use it for testing with the mushrooms from the cave... why?"

Jaeto shook his head. "No, thank you. If you'd like, you can put some away in a parcel for me... The princess might be hungry when we find her..." He watched the game for a short while then looked out the back of the caravan. He could just barely see the pile of bodies on the horizon now. Despite the long journey, time seemed to fly as Jaeto alternated between day dreaming and worrying about Calisto. He hadn't even noticed his tongue slip when he called Calisto a "princess" instead of a "prince".

~

Inside her prison cell, Calisto sat against the wall. The cell's had clay walls so she couldn't see anyone else unless they were directly in front of the door. From deterioration, she could see though that the walls were reinforced with steel bars in the middle.

A guard walked by a shoved a tray of food into her cell but she wouldn't dare touch it. She couldn't even tell what it was and god knows what condition their kitchen was in. She wouldn't catch a disease in here.

Hashmal caught the slip, but kept her silence. When the time came and she saw this member of royalty, she wouldn't be surprised...

Perrualt's eyes widened as he also heard what Jaeto said about Callisto. His single piece of quartz fell out of his hand and dropped to the ground, rolling on the floor and eventually attaching itself magnetically to the main game piece.

"Jaeto..." he said, startled, "Did you just say, 'princess'? Is Callisto a girl?"

-----

Raedou also heard the slip, but he, too, kept quiet. He was not at all surprised to hear that the prince was in fact a princess... the only thing that changed was their pace. Since a delicate princess now sat in the Rantuinne prison instead of a strapping young prince, the Ganzi had to hurry.

As he drove, he looked at the Ephlas doppleganger and bowed his head.

"I am sorry, Ephlas my friend..." he said, "We must make haste to reach our destination. I trust you will find us soon enough?"

-----

The sea of dead, giant insects was quite disturbing for Mistraltz to watch, but he managed. As he watched the Ganzi walk towards Al-Maas en masse, he saw Dakon walking among the sands. He began to run after the Sand Master, and called his name.

"Sir Dakon! Wait for me, Sir Dakon!" he called as he ran towards the sand-dweller.

Ephlas was about to answer Clem when Raedou addressed his water doppleganger. The clone, and its owner, frowned.

"Where are you going, tell me this at least. I spent a fortune of energicum modules to avoid taxing my own reserves in order to cast three different spells in order to... well, anyway. You left and I wasn't able to... wait, that's right. I forgot about the..."

Ephlas trailed off. "Well, watch out for the perilous cliffs, then."

The water clone then splashed down and soaked into the ground, to be no longer.

Back inside the tower of the Academy, Ephlas stood up and - tiredly - turned to face Clem and Leonard.

"I would like to procure at least one sample of the air," he stated. Then Ephlas walked past them, towards the stairs to walk up to the next floor.

((Er.. I'm waiting on SPI. In the 'caravan' the last one to post was you.

Oh, right. You're waiting on me.))

Myrrelda. The most important name you'll ever hear.

Said demon flew along, passing by rolling plains, stretching forests, a single road, and looming cliffs. The salty spray of the ocean splashed against the cliffs, and Myrrelda imagined the feel of it on her face.

Mythicaa. What a place; it was nothing like hell. From the icy cold peaks of Baelta, to the scorching plains of Rantuinne, to the vast forests of Ylos, to the beautiful beaches of Eopia - it was much nicer than the blackened, charred pits of tartarus.

She was closer. So close.

Dakon whipped around, sword suddenly in hand. Once he recognized Mistraltz and sheathed his weapon, but did not reply. A particularly interesting carapace was holding his attention.

It was a seven-legged bear-thing. No, not all Horde were insects. Or, recognizable insects. This specimen had died by arrows; a great number had pierced its stomach.

"Oh, wait," Dakon murmured to himself. The arrows had not killed it; it had accidentally been crushed by one of its behemoth brethren.

Only after examining this bear-beast for a few minutes, did Dakon face Mistraltz and wait for whatever question or information the man wished to ask or give.
