Well then again, it IS Gotham.... I guess they really couldn't do better than a super villainess and some extremely suspicious guy from off the street who just happens to carry thirty plus pounds of edged weaponry around with him wherever he goes.

Edge smiled "and a bank account with quite a few digits helps too." He drew a dagger from his sleeve and started to pick his nails. "And I'm a suspicious rich guy off the street who comes from a very wealthy family in Erupoe, and I carry about 10 pounds of edged weaponry on my person at all times."

My apologies, Dr. Isley. You would, of course, be more than qualified to teach such courses as biology and science, having obtained advanced degrees.
But I guess buying the position works too. Which goes back to the whole 'it IS Gotham'. That kind of stuff happens all the time. If Joker was just once assigned a representative from the court and not a private lawyer then he'd be convicted and put to death at last. Batman should go for Joker's wallet.

Lets not forget, I wasn't a spring chicken when I was reborn. I had extensive knowledge in my field having come from the best schools scholarships could buy. I might be psychotic, but I'm one of the few qualified psychotics in Gotham. I'm simply allowed to teach because everyone knows murdering children isn't my thing."

I don't think I can imagine any action Nightmare could possibly take being described as 'like a kitten', and I'm afraid to imagine the state of mind one would have to be in to construe any action in such a way. I can only assume it would involve a lot of methadone.
